  • How do you view web content that requires a Flash plug in?

The iPad is my first Apple product.  There seem to be restrictions that limit access to various of my favorite web sites.  Work arounds or other options?

    Julian Wright wrote:
The Flash plugin version 11 will be available for all current Android and other devices forever.
Wrong! There are plenty of "current Android" devices that cannot run Flash because they don't run and will never run Android 2.2 or above. Likewise there are plenty of "other devices" that can't run Flash too.
I'm not concerned about devices which don't run Flash. The point is that there is Flash content on the web, and there are mobile devices that support it. You may not care, but obviously judging by many posts, some people do.
And companies like RIM are making sure that their devices will continue to support it, I'm sure Android will be right there with them.
Although you are correct that Adobe said nothing about deprecating it on the desktop (quite the opposite in fact), if companies are investing in HTML5 sites for the growing number of mobile users, they're not going to bother creating a Flash version for desktop users, when those desktop users can view exactly the same HTML5 site. Why make two sites when one will work on everything.
Because HTML5 can not do everything Flash can, therefore there will still be content created in Flash. Like Games, and high end video sites. What is more likely to end is mobile website development, and instead the region will be dominated by apps, with desktop web browsing still offering the best experiences coupled with plugins like Flash.
Flash will never rule the desktop. Proprietary technologies are dying. Standards are becoming the norm. (BTW native applications for different OSs are not the same as proprietary technologies).
You say "never" yet right now as you say it, the desktop is ruled by Flash and other plugins, and has been since day 1 of it's creation. Flash is what created youtube, facebook games. Plugins created sites like netflix and games like runescape. How you can say never, while standing in it is insane.
Bottom line, the desktop is going to be even more media rich due to Flash 11 and stage3d and hardware acceleration. And yes, many mobile devices won't be able to run that content and will have to use apps, but for those that want them, the devices will exist and so will the content.
The iPhone has been out nearly 6 years now... never supported Flash, and yet here we are, people still flooding the forums daily asking for it. How many more years and devices will you go through before you're HTML web finally emerges? 6 more?

  • Error:This page contains content of "application/x-java-applet" type. You do not have the plug-in required to view this content.

Hi....i m using Mac OS x 10.5.8 with safari Version 5.0.2 (5533.18.5). I just updated the Java version to Java 6 and now m getting below error:
This page contains content of “application/x-java-applet” type. You do not have the plug-in required to view this content.
Please help me out on this....

I am also having a problem with this. My website is hosted through "www.onlinepictureproof.com" and now that my laptop is back from repair with OS X 10.6.8 I am unable to upload my photos to my work website. It says "a plug-in is needed to display this content. Install plug-in" and then a window pops up that says "no suitable plug-ins were found".  Below that is "unknown plug-in (application/x-java-applet)" with a link to "manual install" which takes me to "http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/index-jsp-141438.html#download" which just leaves me lost. I've tried downloading the "JRE" but I have zero idea what that means or if Im downloading the proper thing. Once I click on the "download JRE" it brings me to a download page where there are WAY too many items for me to choose from to download, when I have no idea what I need or why I need it. please help, this is driving me insane. I actually preferred my constantly crashing laptop to the state its in now, "like brand new" back from apple repair...I have already updated everything that is promted through "Software Updates".
"OnlinePictureProof.com" only directs me to apple support.
Thank you for any help you can offer!

I am unable to access my email from Charter.net. I can sign in with my password, then a message comes up which says "The plug-in for this page has been disabled. Click here to manage your plug-ins." All of my plug-ins are enabled. What am I missing?

After a great deal of searching I ran across the suggestion to disable all plug-ins and then, one by one, enable them until finally the problem was solved. I am not sure which plug-in was causing the problem, as I am satisfied to have the problem solved. I am going to leave the rest of the plug-in disabled.

  • The maximum number of Web Parts for all zones on this page has been exceeded.

    Hi All,
I am getting following error message when making a new view for SharePoint Form Library
The maximum number of Web Parts for all zones on this page has been exceeded.
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated...

When you are looking at the page append the following at the end of your URL:  ?contents=1
Your URL should look something like this:
    http://contoso/site/default.aspx?contents=1
This will open the web part maintenance page.  How many web parts are listed?  You might have a large number of closed web parts that aren't showing on the page but are actually still there.

  • Error Message:  Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down.

Hi. I'm having another serious problem with CS4 (the version that comes with CS5 when you don't have 64 bit capability. I just finished a project, had saved it, and then had switched over to Adobe Encoder to create a finished flash video (which worked perfectly). I shut down CS4, went home, tried to restart the main project to create a video from the same project (wanted to make an mpeg version as well) and got the following error message:
Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project. Then the system shuts down.
Not only can I not open the project I was working on, I cannot open any of my prior projects without receiving the same error.
Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue and how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
By the way, is everyone else having the same amount of problems with this software? I've never had any software that has had so many problems from the beginning. My opinion of this software and Adobe in general has gone down substantially.

Not enough information for anyone to even make a guess

My ipod 5th gen says it is connected to the internet and i can go on apps that require an internet connection but whe i try to use the weather or another app that uses your current location it cant find me???

If you open the Maps app where does that say you are located?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds

  • Error: This page has graphics other than images or text on it

I recently upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, and I am experiencing a problem
    with OCR text recognition.
If I use "Create PDF from Scanner" or "Create PDF from file" (using a
monochrome TIFF image) to create a PDF, I can then perform OCR on the PDF
    file in Acrobat.
But if I open a monochrome TIFF image in some other program (Irfanview) and
print that to the Adobe PDF printer, then open that PDF in Acrobat and try
to perform OCR on it, I get the following message:
"Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) on this page because: This page
has graphics other than images or text on it. It cannot be captured."
If I select the scanned image in the PDF file using the TouchUp Object tool,
and then cut it to the clipboard, I am then able to then select a second
blank object on the page, that has the same dimensions as the scan (it is
full page size). If I delete that object, then paste the first one back in
(the scanned image), then OCR will work. So what is this additional object
that is preventing OCR? I did not have this issue with versions 4-8 of
    Acrobat.
Also, this problem appears to only pertain to 1-bit monochrome images. I
scanned the same page to 8-bit grayscale, then printed that to Adobe PDF
from Irfanview, and that PDF file allows OCR to be performed. Does anyone
else have a problem using OCR when the PDF was created by printing a
    monochrome raster image to PDF?

Not sure this will work for indesign, but for any other searches about the OCR problem with "This page has graphics other than images or text on it", I used this workaround for a huge scanned text that Acrobat 9 Pro wouldn't OCR:
    1. Save As.... > TIFF image
This saved each page as a tiff, so if your file is big, you might want to create a special folder for it. (I had 1100 pages!)
    2. Open the folder with the TIFF images.
    3. Select all files.
    4. Right-click > Open with.... > Choose.... > Other.... > Acrobat
    5. Popup will ask if you want to open all files in a single document. Obviously a good choice for 1100 pages.
    6. After the new PDF generates, save it.
    7. Document > OCR --- should work now.
    8. If it does, don't forget to delete the folders with the TIFFs.
    Hope that helps someone.

    Reducing to one screen.
Holding Shift when starting until first screen (New/ Open Existing/ Help)
Holding Ctrl, Shift Alt when starting until first screen (New/ Open Existing/ Help)
Programme crashed regardless of clicking directly on loading icon and opening New or Existing via first load screen, or via clicking directly from a project file.
Removed all fonts installed since last opened.
    Restarting.
    Updated Graphics Driver.
    Updated Premiere

Hi guys; I thought I would share my experience and how I managed to fix this problem. It might help someone.
In my case I kept receiving this message; eventually after re-launching Premiere, I actually paid close attention to the "software loading" information and saw that it got stuck on my installed "Colorista ii" which is a colour grading software.
Now the red bulb came on my head ping!
I recently just upgraded my Mac to the OS X Yosemite & that affected pretty much any non-updated application, which in my case was that and many more of the Red Giant Pacakge; so I searched for the upgrade via Red giant Link, and low and behold I found it and did so. Immediately everything loaded up perfectly fine.. and now can't even do the work, cos I'm so exhausted from an 'almost heartattack'; so going to sleep and commence later in the day I guess..
Now, you might probably want to check if any application on your system needs upgrading to whatever is the operating system on your Mac or PC at this very time. It might help.
    Always back-up.
    I hope I helped someone :-)

My computer is a Dell Dimension Desktop running on Windows XP with 256 MB of RAM

There are a couple of similar threads, so I will post my solution to you also. This worked when I had the same problem.
I have found a couple of steps for a solutions that worked for the "encountered serious error" message when attempting to share the project to disk or computer file. Here was my solution that worked.
    1. I already compiled a project that took me 2 months and used video, photo, music. I added a new video track 'before' the other tracks and inserted a black jpg image, stretch it the entire timeline and make the opacity 0%. This covers any unseen 'gaps' in the project and won't interfere or cover anything else in the project.
    2. Go to file - project archiver - copy project to a new folder away from the current folder (this will include a copy of all media used in the timeline of the project - trust me it's worth the duplication!).
    3. Go to preferences - clear your media cache. Close the program.
    4. Hold down the left ctrl + shift and then click on the Premiere program icon. Keep holding the ctrl + shift until the welcome screen for Premiere appears.
    5. Open the new *.prel project you had saved in the new folder in step 2.
    6. Go to share and make your disk or computer file.
After trying all the recommendations of the various posts, this is what I found that worked (I didn't find step 2 in a post but was just trying to back up the work I did and found that it created a new *.prel file!). For some reason, when previously trying to share the project with the original *.Prel file, it didn't like having all the media in different folders from the project, even if they were a in a sub-folder within the project folder. It wanted all the media in the SAME FOLDER as the project.
I just now have a new error that I can't find the solution for in support or the forum yet. But that's another post.
I hope this helps someone else!
