This phone is driving me mad!! Help!

Im in Spain and recently bought an unlocked Blackberry pearl 8100 from the UK. My sim is Movistar and I was told I needed to change it to contract to use with this phone which I did and thought I would be good to go...no such luck
These are my problems after a week of no luck from Movistar....they say the problem is with the handset and Blackberry say the problem is with the sim card. Any suggestions appreciated
1. After a week of no sms messages I eventually found the firewall menu and dissabled it (neither Blackberry help or Movistar had mentioned this) ...is there any way or retrieving the 208 blocked messages?
2. If I dial a number directly with the dial pad I can call anyone, if I press call from either a message or the address book I get a message saying this option is not available...whats the point of an address book then?! 
3. I have set my ringtone to a tune I downloaded ok, but now I cant change the message tone..it overides the ringtone and I end up with the same beep for everything...surely if I can personalise theringtones for different people I can have a different beep for SMS, MMS, e mail no?
I have friends with the same phone from the same provider and have none of these problems...Im seriously considering binning the thing im so frustrated.

To retrieve blocked messages - contact your wireless provider. Perhaps these sms-es are not deleted from provider's SMSC server. And provider can resend them.
As you've bought it used you need to remove IT Policy from your blackberry.

Go to Profiles (speaker icon on the device screen), select "Advanced" and edit ringtone settings for every cause you need.

    If Apple's service database says that your iPhone was replaced, then Apple will no longer provide any service for that phone.
    First, get a new SIM from your cell carrier and see if that corrects the problem. If it does not, try the usual steps for addressing software problems: restart, reset, restore.

    You forgot the passcode?  Restore the iphone.
    Carrier unlock?  ONLY Sprint cna unlock it and they will only do so for foreign carriers.  Contact them and see if you qualify.

    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    this problem is driving me mad, ive spent 3 whole days now and im totally stumped, so i really hope someone here has an idea
    basically, i have a parsed xml file read into a vector, and now i need to send that vector to my midlet, the question is how, because objectinputstream wont work, and that appears to be the only way to do it from searching around on the internet.
    i tried using a for loop to read and send the data while the the vector is less than its total size and then on the other end read it in but that doesnt work
    please, please someone help im totally desperate

    hi there, thanks for the reply but I think I may have not made myself clear, im aware of how to create the connection and set everything up etc but the problem I was getting was in "how to send a vector over the air to my midlet" i.e being able to read each item in the vector, and then send that over the air to my midlet, have that received and placed in a vector midlet side, however I did manage to figure it out on my own in the end and it wasn�t my programming that was at fault but the way I had written the xml file, in that for example I had written
    <locations>
    <name>data</name>
    <name>data</name>
    </locations>
    and the parser (xerces) detected each time I had pressed enter as blank space characters, which in turn ruined the for loop I had written to send each one in turn to the midlet, I changed the xml file to include no enters i.e.
    <locations><name>data</name><name>data</name></locations>
    and that fixed it, I was able to send the entire vector over the web using for loops, one that read the vector element into a temp string, and outputted that string using a dataoutput stream, and then a for loop on the midlets side that received it and put it into a vector!

  • Nokia 5800 Bluetooth driving me mad!!!!

    I am having lots of trouble with the 5800 when trying to use the bluetooth connectivity.
    If I allow it to connect to my cars in built Harman Becker system automatically and then make a call the person I dial will not be able to hear me.
    If I connect to my system manually I can make calls ok most of the time but the phonebook will not be available in the cars system, if the phonebook loads to the car I will not be able to make calls.
    According to Harman Becker every other Nokia phone is 100% compatible but up to now the 5800 has not been tested. I have installed the November software update to my cars system but it's still the same. Every other phone I have tried in the car works fine.
    I have also tried the 5800 in my other half's car with a Sony bluetooth car kit and I can make calls ok but the phonebook is unavailable. 
    Whats the deal with the 5800? Is there a way off stopping it sending the phone book so then I would at least be able to answer calls? This phone is driving me insane.
    I have had Nokia phones before and they have been great, my last phone was Sony Ericsson and all worked well except the charger connection was always hit or miss as to whether it worked but at least the bluetooth worked fine.
    If I cannot get the 5800 to work on my system it will be the last Nokia device I buy. I cannot even find a phone number to call on Nokia's website to try and sort this problem out!! Aghhhhhhhhhh!!! 

    Take it again to the Nokia Service Center and explain what happened.They must repair it whether they like it or not.

  • My iphone 5 is 32GB and I keep it backed up in icloud. A recent message suggested that I don't have enough icloud space so I have deleted all back up - it still says no icloud space - help!!! I am not a techy person and this is driving me mad!! :(

    Please can somebody help ....My iphone said not enough icloud space available, so I have delete all back ups and checked what apps are linked to my back up and it is only my photos. Since deleting all current back ups I have tried to back up  again and it still says not enough space when I have 5GB/ 5GB available.

    The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud.  Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device.  Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
    Also check:
    Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud as well.  Tap Show All Apps to get the complete list of apps and MB used for backup storage.
    A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

    If you have your iPad connected to the charger it could be the new "Hey Siri" feature that allows you to use Siri without pressing the home button. Do you have a radio on or are people talking ? Go to settings> general> Siri> Allow"Hey Siri"> off.

    All I had to do was complain.  I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store.  I have no idea why.

    If, for some reason, your backup got encrypted and you don't know the code, you'll have to set up your phone as new device and start all over again without the backup.
    Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.

  • Display of eBay Sales Manager Sold Page to wide for screen. Scrolling is driving me mad. Help please for Newbie to Mac!

    I have a new Mac Book Pro 13” & an iPad for my Amazon and eBay business. I have been a PC user.  The problem relates to both.
    On my eBay Manager Sold page, the display of the page is wider than my screen. I use Safari and all other webpages are fine apart from this and a couple of other eBay Sales Manager pages.  I have tried using the eBay default column widths for the Sold display page & also setting the widths of the Sold columns to my own preferences.  However, on each page refresh the display page width reverts meaning I am having to scroll left and right to see full details of each sale.
    Help would be much appreciated as it is driving me mad.  I have tried all the usual things - page display, clearing cookies, restarting computer but nothing helps.

    Sounds like the eBay Manager Sold page expects a very wide window.
    Does the content get too small if you zoom out the window?

    Set a minimum font size for webpages: Choose Safari > Preferences, click Advanced, then select “Never use font sizes smaller than.” Click the pop-up menu and choose the minimum font size you want.
    Expand to full-screen view: Click the green full-screen button in the top-left corner of the browser window, or press Control-Command (⌘)-F. To return to standard view, move the pointer to the top-left corner of the screen, then click the green full-screen button again, or press Control-Command (⌘)-F.

    Here are 3 pictures detailing what I'm experiencing.
    Picture 1; clip 1 tail frame.
    Picture 2; clip 2 head frame.
    Picture 3; clip 2 head frame is now tail frame of clip 1.
    does this help describe what is happening? Basically every cut I make
    leaves an unwanted frame as a ghost of the missing cut.
