Alright folks,
I do give every company the benefit of the doubt at least several times. I also do give companies time to get their act together. However, this ATT and Apple mix is beginning to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Ever since I updated my iphone to 2.2.1, my phone has been dropping calls like there is no tomorrow. Sometimes it doesn't even ring, but simply tells me I have a voice mail waiting. I watch my phone go from 4 bars to 2 bars to none than back to 4 bars in a matter of 30 seconds while I am still sitting in THE SAME SPOT. 3g speed is non existent while I'm showing FIVE FULL BARS. At times youtube videos just HANG (stop downloading) for no apparent reason. I regretted ever updating to 2.2.1 of horror.
Does anyone at all know how I can down grade back to the previous version of the OS. I had no problem with that one. Everything worked fine and I certainly had much much less dropped calls.

Before you go to the Apple Store, try:
1) Reset (hold the sleep/wake & home button until the Apple logo appears)
2) Restore in iTunes
3) Remove all apps and see if the problem persists. Re-add the apps one at a time. If the problem occurs when an app is added, remove that app and see if it continues to happen.
4) If none of these things works then it's time to make an appointment at the Genius Bar.

[Solved] KDE 4.10: The taskbar isn't transparent any more

Hi,
after the upgrade from KDE 4.9 to KDE 4.10 I noticed, that the taskbar isn't transparent any more.
So, up to now I couldn't find the settings to change that, that's why I just want to ask how I can get back the taskbar transparency?

Same: opengl is broken, even crashes kwin on start up. Only xrender compositing is working now. Even starting a new .kde4 folder hasn't fixed it. I guarantee it's f#@* Catalyst again.

Graphs in Server Admin isn't updating any more.

Hi all,
The graphs in Server Admin doesn't show correctly. For any given time range, it's always 31% for CPU utilization and 28KB/s for network. However it's definitely not the case when comparing to Activity Monitor.
The graphs for web showing correctly for both throughput and requests.
Not sure if anyone had this problem before. I googled around and found no similar issues.
It's not a big deal but very annoying as I can't see server performance history any more.
Please help.

According to the manual page on the OS X Developer Library, fsck_cs has a bug:
fsck_cs does not perform an exhaustive validation, nor is it able to fix many of the inconsistencies that it does detect.
Somehow my MacBook Air didn't complete some I/O transactions to the SSD and therefore the physical volume of the core storage has "failed". Fixing inconsistencies didn't worked because of the bug mentioned above. Repartitioning disk0s2 and reinstalling the OS solved the problem.
@Link Davis: The SSD has not failed, if so the SMART status would have shown that. That's the most shared oppinion on many Apple related forums. I think you mean the disk, not the drive.
I'll not encrypt the SSD of the MacBook Air with the FileVault 2 until the bug is going to be fixed!

Why the drag and drop of clips from events browser to project browser isn't working any more

My iMovie was working fine, but suddenly I'm not able any more to drag and drop select parts of a clip from event browser to the project browser. I read other people got this issue. Is there a solution? Thanks a lot

I had the same problem. Fixed it by repairing disk permissions with disk utility.

"Edit with Photoshop" isn't working any more

Guys, when I right-click an image and choose "Edit with Photoshop CS3" (edit Lightroom copy), it will create a copy but will not launch Photoshop. This creates a problem because other than exporting the file there is now no way of editing outside Lightroom.
How do I get this functionallity back?
(I think it started doing this when I applied the 1.1 patch...)

Lightroom is dead at this point. Any attempted operation, including canceling the edit, just adds to the hanging stack. The only out I have found so far is to exit Lightroom, tell it to abandon all uncompleted tasks, and then restart it. At that point it will again work correctly to edit one image. It is the editing that causes the hanging, other functions performed after an edit do not (e.g. working in the develop module on a second image).
Lightroom 1.1 did not have this problem. The images I was working on were imported into Lightroom after I updated to 1.2. I am working under XP Pro and off of an internal (vs external) hard drive.

I want to get rid of iTunes Radio and just play my music library. The tool bar at the bottom allowing me to select playlists, artists etc isn't there any more. HELP!

Getting rid of iTunes Radio. How do I navigate back to my own music library? The tool bar at the bottom disappears.

Open the Music app.
Tap More on the bottom menu
Tap Edit (upper right)
Drag the icon on or off the lower tool bar to select the functions you want on it.
At step #2, you can also simply select the view you wish to use.
To navigate back to a view that shows the menu (for example, when you are playing a song), tap the < icon (upper left).

External display suddenly isn't working any more

I have a MBP 13 (mid 2010) running OSX 10.8.4 conected with a Dell 1707fpt via DVI cable.
Everything worked fine without any problems until this morning and usually I have the MBP closed with an attached mouse and keyboard.
Since this morning the monitor no longer works on MBP. I therefore once connected my MBP to the DVI adapter and cable to another monitor (Samsung...) and it works. I also conected the Dell screen via DVI cable to another PC. It works as well.
Only the combination of my MBP and the Dell does not work! I put the adapter in the MBP and the MBP is just blue for a second and the internal monitor is functioning normally than. Unfortunately the Dell never wakes from sleep. I can only see the orange light (normal is green). Is there any solution? I've done PRAM and SMC reset.
Apparently all of the hardware works independently, only not together.
Oh and the monitor if it is connected does not appear on the MPB under "Monitors" ...
I was looking in some other communities and it seems that I'm not the only one with this problem, but no solutions found yet.
Do you have an idea how to fix this?

Invitees isn't working any more!!!! The server responded with an error.

When ever I try to invite someone to an event on my iCal it keeps popping this up!?

Do Not Import Duplicates simply does not work any more

I've been using Aperture from the beginning, and this always worked before:
I have a single folder for each month's imports
1. copy files via card reader to folder for month on firewire 800 drive
2. load Aperture, choose Import, Leave Files where they are then select do not import duplicates - it imports files
Later I will download another card to the same further, and follow 1 & 2 above.
Now, no matter how many times I do it, it simply shows ALL the files in the folder, and will import them all again, creating new versions each time.
Clicking on and off the do not import duplicates check box has no effect whatever.

I have also just run across this Jonathan. This feature always worked before for me. I had some previously imported images on my CF card in camera along with new ones and it now takes all images even with the "Do not Import Duplicates" checked.

Fully encrypted MacBook Air isn't booting any more

This topic is NOT in the wrong category.
I think it's a problem related to OS X Lion (10.7.4) and a file system encryption with File Vault 2.
I've got a new/fresh MacBook Air 13" a few days ago and configured the system to suit my preferences.
There are only a few Apps installed: Java, Eclipse Java EE, TeX, Flash and Steam.
The system worked fine and is fully encrypted with File Vault 2.
This day I was starting the MacBook Air but couldn't log into the system with any user.
The Icon called "the see me rollin, they hatin'." appeared for a long time and suddently the Apple Logo was replaced by a "forbidden" logo.
I'm new to OS X but I've got very good skills in working with Linux escpecially with Uubuntu Linux and system encryption using LUKS.
After searching for a while I've found out, that many people have had problems with PGP, because it has done something harmful to prevent the system from booting normaly. Since I didn't install any PGP software, that I'm aware of, the fixes provided in many forums don't apply here.
So I restarted the system and pressed cmd+r to enter the recovery mode.
I've checked my disk and found this out that disk0s2 is failing by typing "diskutil cs list":

So it seems the physical disk is still alive.
Then I tried the fsck_cs on disk0s2 and this was printed:

** Load and verifiy SOME-CRYPTIC-HASH
    Unable to bootstrap transaction group 932: invalid field value
Invalidate transaction group? (entering y here)
... Additional two identical questions, which I always answer with y ...
** Load and verify Logical Volumes B-Trees
    Unable to bootstrap transaction group 927: incorrect block type
    No valid commit checkpoint found
** The volume HASH-OF-THE-VOLUME-GROUP was found corrupt and can not be repaired.
I tried the same command but this time answering with n, but it didn't helped.
All log files where shorted to support readability.
What can I do next?

I have an NI5911 high speed digitizer and would like to acquire a video signal from a CCD using it. Does anyone know if this is possible without buying any more hardware please? If it is, how would I go about it?

The only thing I succeeded in finding on the NI site was about using a different high-speed digitizer in tandem with an IMAQ card but I was hoping not to have to buy an IMAQ card as it means I may as well not have got the NI5911 (a while ago) in the first place. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can certainly acquire video signals with the 5911. The only tricky part is that the 5911 does not have any video triggering options. That means that you will have to either find a way to provide your own trigger based on the video signal (that's where the IMAQ board comes into play) or you can just take a lot of data and keep only the data you need once it is in software. For instance, you could take one large record and then use software analysis to determine where the frame sync occurs. Hopefully this was helpful.

Oh no my ipod isn't working any more! HELP!!!

See When I was on my Pc and not my ibook I pluged in my ipod and it wasn't coming up in my itunes so I looked in "my computer" and look at the thing were it showed my ipod and i clicked it and it said this needs to be formated so i clicked yes on the format thing and it did it then I unplug my ipod and it stops and when i try and put it back on it never comes on, how can I help this?

Organize bookmarks no longer exists on Firefox 4. I have been to your support page "Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file" and this level of Firefox is in 3 and below. Can you help me be able to transport my bookmarks from Firefox to Firefox on different machines.
