This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7. ?

Currently have OS X Version 10.6.8 Installed and I cannot download and intall Lion.  Everytime I log in an obtain availability through Itunes Store, Lion Icon Download states it is starting and then Just states "Waiting"  I have downloaded the updates 7.1 and 7.2 but I can not install.  ? ? ? ? ? How can I install Lion on my MacBook Pro ? ? ? ?

Sounds like you're downloading the updates to Lion 10.7. Follow wjosten's advice. You first need to purchase it from the App store, then install it and then run the updates.

You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.

You call Apple Sales & order a retail copy of Snow Leopard(10.6.8), US $29. Then update to iTunes 10.7. Either that, or you don't use your phone with your computer.

  • "This update requires Mac OS X 10.6.7" !? i installed 10.6.8

hello i have a problem when i install new safari it say ; This update requires Mac OS X 10.6.7" but i have 10.6.8 !!! why ?

Don't Uninstall Safari. It rarely does any good, and often just creates more of a mess.
The CT problem is handled this way
    Close Safari.
    Check here for CT Loader
    Locate and delete:
    HD/Library/Application Support/Conduit
    HD/Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    HD/Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    HD/Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    HD/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    HD/Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
It may not be in every single location, but get it out where ever you find it.
    Restart Safari. Any Better?
If it's already uninstalled, try the combo update to get SAfari back.
Or reinstall from your Install Disk.

  • This software requires Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later.

I can not back up my new iphone 5 to y itunes because my apple computor won't let me upgrade my itunes. After I try to download the latest itunes, it tells me "This software requires Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later" I don't know how to get it to download. Any suggestions would be welcome. My mac os x version is 10.5.8

    SL = Snow Leopard.  10.5.8 = Leopard.  10.6.8 = Snow Leopard.
10.7 = Lion, successor to SL.  And 10.8 = Mountain Lion which succeeded Lion.
Not in person, as far as I know.  But free shipping, usually within 4 business days.

OK. Now, you say you got this alert through App Store when trying to download Mavericks or after you downloaded it and were trying to install it? Which is the correct case?
The error you are getting may sometimes occur when the computer has already been updated, but I don't know why you would be getting this message. I can only suggest that you take it in for service to find out why this is happening.

  • You cannot install Safari on this volume. This update requires Mac OS X 10.

This is the problem I run into when trying to install Safari 3.1. Have tried several times with fresh downloads. What's worse is that I deleted the version of Safari I had prior to this, so now I have no Safari whatsoever. Anybody out there know how to go around this? I do have the newest version of Leopard.

See my answer to your other post.

  • HT2186 Why won't my Macbook update? Mac OS X Version 10.5.8

Im trying to update my software but it keeps saying no update found & when I try to download/update the new iTunes it tells me my software basically wont support it. And says "This software requires Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 or later" Whats really going on?

If iTunes is important enough, $19 is not too bad.  Even Windows 8 upgrade prices start at $80, at the cheapest place.  Full Windows 8 licenses will be around $200 most likely.
Besides, there are security updates for both Java and general system available for SL, while Leoprd has been al but abandoned.

  • An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. This update requires Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher.

Get this error when trying to install Logic patch 9.1.4 to my machine.
An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. This update requires Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher.

Thx, but i had already read that and tried it: did not work.
Got it fixed now by reinstalling Logic Studio 9 from DVD.
That indeed creates the Logic Pro folder in Applications - something I had tried earlier by simply moving my existing Logic folder. This means the Logic 9.1.5 update does not simply check a folder name: there must be another entry/registry entry it checks. Reinstalling Logic Studio from scratch solved it for me.
After reinstalling thought Lion forgot my Focusrite Saffire 40, so no DAW. Solved that by reading a forum entry on beta drivers.
So I am happy, music creation wise.
Left for me is to solve the X Mail application saying it does not run under Lion!
