This version of Firefox has SO many problems it is unusable. Ads in EVERYTHING. Autofill not working, more.

First of all I am so tired of FF updating it's versions so often and every time they do something doesn't work. I changed to Google Chrome after using FF for YEARS and the current version, which seems to update on it's own and then you can't go back, has eliminated Autofill which I really relied on, and worse of all there are ADS in EVERYTHING and I don't know how to stop them. In Facebook for example there are big boxes of ads everywhere. Just today in my new blog post pieces of text were underlined that linked to ads. This does NOT happen in GC and it hurts the integrity of my long running blog and is an embarrassment. I hate this. I have never allowed paid ads and don't want them. In Google Chrome none of these ads show up anywhere, nor do they in Explorer, only in FF. There are other issues but I am worn OUT from new versions showing up every 5 minutes and then things you regularly use and count on don't work. Will somebody PLEASE tell me how to eliminate these ads???

And the "latest version" of FF IS the one I had and had so many problems with and autofill WAS enabled but the autofill I had been using for some time was simply gone. It has been a little pencil icon up on the left side in the tool bar and the most recent autofill had to be filled out through some -- to me -- complex form that you had to access in tools section and I could never even figure out how to use it. I've been online and created several websites and blogs so it's not that I have no computer experience but I remember way back using FF 3 and loving it and all of a sudden one day my computer took a big leap to another version way up the line for some unknown reason and FF as I had known it changed and then versions kept coming out faster and faster and things got worse and worse. Sometimes I think the axiom, "If it ain't broke don't fix it" should apply. I can't keep up with all the changes. Unless and until I know that FF is a stable platform I will not use it again and others have said the same thing in conversations the last few days. A LOT has changed with this latest version and the changes aren't good. Again for the zillionth time, the problems that existed do not exist at all on the other browsers, only Firefox. Very odd indeed...

  • The latest version of Firefox has a compatability problem with the Reget download manger which means I can only download zipped files rather than large MOV or MKV files as could previously be done. Is there a solution to this issue?

As per above the Reget add on is now not compatible with Firefox's latest version. Is this something which Firefox is looking into? Is there a work around or is this up to Reget to remedy?

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Why am I getting an error stating this version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the English version when I just bought a song yesterday and had no problems

I have iTunes running on my Windows8 desktop for some while with no problems. Yesterday I purchased a song, deleted a free game app. and upgraded to the most current version of iTunes.  This morning I could not pull up iTunes, so I retored my iTunes to a setting two (2) days ago.  Now, as soon as I try to start iTunes I get a message stating: This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the Enclish version OK.  So I hit the OK button and nothing happens.  Please help.

    Hi there GloriaNM,
You may want to try removing and reinstalling iTunes as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

    Hey KEBENNETT,
It sounds like you've restored Windows on your PC and iTunes is no longer opening and running normally.
I'd recommend using the instructions found at step 4 and 5 in this article to repair or remove/reinstall your iTunes installation:

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

  • Hi, I would like every new tab I open to open my homepage. How do I do this? I'm on a PC and downloaded the latest version of Firefox today. Many thanks!

Hi, I would like every new tab I open to open my homepage. How do I set this? I'm on a PC and downloaded the latest version of Firefox today. Many thanks!

Have a look at the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/?src=ss New Tab Homepage] or the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/my-homepage/?src=search My Homepage] extensions. With My Homepage, if your homepage is set to a search engine, it will give focus to the homepage search bar instead of the address bar when opening a new tab. If you have any questions about installing extensions, [[Using extensions with Firefox]] can help.

have verified and repaired permissions. all downloads are giving me either invalid checksum or "image file corrupted" every other coputer on the network runs fine. Just wondering if i am going to have to wipe and reinstall. please say no.

I got this problem after upgrading to 11.0.4. Solved it by going to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ , downloading the newest version and reinstalling. Works fine now.
Full disclosure - I was having problems with 11.0.3 crashing, so I had used Time Machine to revert to 11.0.2 prior to using system update to install 11.0.4 the first time.

  • Frequent "Firefox has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" window. Need to disable adblock plus and AVG safe search to continue. Any way to fix?

For about a third of websites I visit, at some point I receive a "Firefox has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" window. I have to disable both Adblock plus and AVG safe search in order to continue. This used to happen for two or so sites, and I disabled the ad-ons before going to those sites. It has increased to the point that the adblock plus and safe search ad-ons are becoming pretty useless. Is there any way to rectify this problem. Sending error reports has no effect.

Have you changed anything in the Photoshop installation areas?  If the updater doesn't find a pristine installation it will fail.
The only area you should ever put anything into is the plug-ins subfolder.  Everything else is hands-off.

  • When will you let users add the missing e for this version of firefox? I don't want to use firefox anymore now.

The missing e has been "incompatible" with this version of firefox for at least a year. This is annoying. Which browser should I use?

I don't think it's being developed anymore since the last blog post was a year ago about the time you said it stopped being incompatible
    *http://blog.missing-e.com/
There's another extension another user recommended which was XKit
    *http://xkit.info/seven/download/
My browser is unsupported since I'm running Nightly 34.0a1 (very early build of Firefox) but the latest Firefox 31.0 should be working.
