This X-FI Extreme Music Card is Crap!!

&This X-FI Extreme Music Card is Crap!!Y I am totally fed up with this card AND Creative Labs!! I have tried every single way possible to install this software without success. I have installed and uninstalled the software 20 times, each time I install it gives me a different result...How is that possible? I've installed in regular mode, safe mode, standing on one leg, etc. This thing has not worked right EVER!!! Support is non-existent unless you try the forums....so Creative expects us to solve problems for them? I installed the automatic update feature at their request, updated everything, and then went to the Creative website and found out the update feature doesn't even work for Vista! WTF?!? I had to BUY the software CD for Vista from Creative and THAT didn't work right. THEY ALL HAVE TO BE ON DRUGS!!! THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST PIECE OF HARDWARE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED!

That's right, I did buy it from Dell, BUT, I did some checking and the only thing Dell did was include a audio cable that would make it work in one of their systems....No mod to the board. Dell told me to contact Creative for an RMA. Ceati've said 'Sorry, we can't do that because the card could've been altered, BUT, we'll be happy to sell you another one!" So I'm stuck with it. I? installed running XP on my computer but never had it working right (continual errors, mixer would not lauch, etc.) and then I upgraded to Vista. I went to the Ceati've website to find drivers and found out I had to buy a CD for $0. OK. I get the disk and install...uninstall, try safe mode, try normal mode again, get it to work but no spidf or coax. I can't change my speakers to 5. because it's stuck on 2. ( except one time I installed and it showed 5. in game mode but 2. in the other two modes). Tried taking out all but GB of RAM. I tried every concievable way to get a good install with no luck. My experiences with this card is not unique. I have found other people having the exact same problems with this card and Vista. What I don't understand is why every time I uninstall and re-install the software it does something different ( some features install one time, the next install those don't but others do). I tried Driver Sweeper...no go. THIS IS WHY I'M PI*@ED OFF! If anyone can think of something to do I am more than willing to try it. Am I just a dumb *** or [email protected]

  • X-Fi Extreme Music card causes system crashes Windows Event ID 1

I have a Dell computer running Win XP Home. After installing my new?X-Fi ExtremeMusic card my system gives me the following error at startup:"? Microsoft Windows
The system has recovered from a serious error.
A log of this error has been created. "?This error message does not have any supporting detail so I usually close the error message box and continue to use Windows. However after a few hours the system will suddenly crash. The Windows System Log shows:?Source? I am using the most recent driver available for this card that I downloaded from the Creative website on Jan-5-2007. Can anyone help.
? If I cannot get this card to work properly can I get a refund ? I have only had it 5 days.

You are wrong. The 2.3 are for extreme music, you are thinking about extreme audio. Creative have really made a blunder with these names, not strange many are having problems. Propably trying to install extreme audio drivers on extreme music, and the other way around!?
Check that you have the right drivers, if you do. Try the trick where you unpack the driver exe file, so you get all the files from the installer on to a folder of youre choosing. Then use the "Creative Update Utility" popup to install/force the drivers to install. If you dont know what im talking about, search the forums, its been explained many times here.

  • X-Fi Extreme Music Card not detected by Creative driver installation

? Abit An-M2HD MOBO. I have x-fi music card (used). XP loads OK -- after failing a few times - - but can't install drivers, SB install program says no supported device detected. I see many posts about Nvidia N-Force chip boards having this problem, but I can't find one with a clearly identified solution. I do not have the problem with a million instances of multimedia listed -- just get a generic multi-media audio device with no ability to install drivers. I've tried using windows auto install, no dice, and both stand alone drivers and a creative install disc.
Is there a fix? I don't want to reinstall windows, too much trouble. I'll sell the card before I get into that.
    Thanks

everything works fine with the new beta driver 2.4.000.
    Thanks to Creative.

  • XFi Extreme Music Card Probl

I just bought my Xfi card a couple of days ago; My Audigy One was working fine(just as a baseline) My board is a Asus A8V bios 04 2 GB ram, A64 3500. My current test game is Call of Duty with the .4 patch. I have installed all of the driver updates this week; Game crashes almost immediatly. I first had a IRQ conflict with my Geforce 6800GT. I moved the X-fi card to slot 4 and no more conflict; however same problem with the game. I also get some cracklin in the speakers when the system boots up.
Question number one; should I plug a floppy power cable to the card? One post seemed to think that you should. This is just the Xtreme Music card with no accessories; the manual refers to this for "powering the X-fi I/o console via the AD_Link Connector. Any thoughs on this or my problem in general. I will try other games and see if it continues.

Actually, if you check the fine print at dell's website you will see a # footnote that says?basically that their card may vary from a retail one and also that the dolby is accessed via the DVD software they include.
Anyway here are 2 links to discussions right here in the forums that talk about it and I'm SURE if you did a search you would find even more, hint hint <wink>

  • Can I install two X-Fi extreme Music cards in the same

I was running two SB Li've cards in my Sony VAIO which allowed me to double the polyphony available. However, I now have two X-Fi cards and cannot figure out how to install the software to get them both to show up as sound sources. The reason is to allow my to operate my three manual organ running four synths with sound fonts loaded. One card only allows 64 polyphony which is easily overrun with the resultant note drop outs when playing full chords on two keyboards with a full list of stops selected.
    Any ideas?

Personally, I wouldn't change the prefs to copy music to a different iTunes music folder everytime.
As long as it is playable in iTunes, it doesn't matter which drive it is located on.
Just change it to the C: drive and add music.
    1) i create a new folder in "C" for the music i want to store in C , and point itunes to this folder.
    Yes.
    2) i can move some of the current music in "I" to this new folder in "C".
Yes but it's not quite that simple. Once you move a song in iTunes via Windows Explorer, iTunes will ikely lose this link and ask you to point to it. Not aproblem if you move a few songs but if you do a lot, since you can only do them one at a time.
    3) depending on the type of music i'm downloading, i set the path in the advanced settings to either "C" or "I".
    If you want.
    But I wouldn't.
If you start getting close to full on the internal (as a general rule you should keep at least 10%-15% free space on boot drive) and get a larger drive, set iTunes prefs to the new drive then File Library -> Consolidate to copy everything the new drive.
Then you can delete the iTunes music folders on the C: and I: drives.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tarka,
It would be advisable to get in touch with support if you have not already done so.

  • X-Fi Extreme Music 48 Khz to 96 Khz and 16 bit to 24 bit sett

?Hello guys, I recently bought this card and everything works fine, but I have some questions.
. Where are the 48khz/96 khz and 6bit/24bit settings (except 24BIT Crystializer) which I had on my old Audigy SE and SB Li've 24 bit's
    2. Is there a real difference in performance/quality between Gaming Mode and Entertainment Mode? Is it ok to play games in Ent.Mode?
    3. What are the correct settings to achieve best sound quality pairing a Logitech Z-5500 (volume/bass/treble/eq/crystalizer levels)?
Thank you very much and I repeat, I don't have any troubleshooting issues, I just need some advices because I am not an expert in sound and I heard this X-Fi Extreme Music is very good when you set it up correctly.

go to entertainment mode, go to digital i/o all the way on the right, then change the digital output sampling rate to 96khz

  • X-fi Extreme Music + Digital I/O Device - not worki

    Hi,
Like the title says, I got the extreme music card wit the flexijack thing, and now I just bought myself this little nifty looking device that I can plug into the flexijack, giving me an optical and coax output and input. What I need is the optical output, which will run to my receiver.
I have set up everything, turned on Digital IO, looked through every option 600 times to ensure everything (to my knowledge) seemed right. I tried setting both my SPDIF to default, and the standard "Speaker" as my default playback device.
When all comes to all, it SHOULD work. I see the red light coming out the output port, the cable is running to my receiver, and I know it works. I got my mates computer right next to me, which has an onboard sound card that I tried with my cable, and it worked right away, when I set his SPDIF as default playback device. Music would play from my receiver's speakers right away.
Any suggestions as to what could be wrong? If nothing else, suggestions to some sound cards that got a built-in optical output perhaps? :<
    Thanks in advance.

Have you enabled digital IO in one of the tabs on "Speakers" settings? If not, that is youre problem.

  • X-Fi Music Card - No Sub-Woofer Sig

I'm a new owner - 2 weeks- of a Dell with an ATI 2 Dou 256 video and X-Fi Extreme Music cards. Out of the box, I had no sub-woofer signal. I have also purchased the Creative Media Player Remote and Creative DTS-60 anologe to digital component, all tied to my Sony ES Recei'ver / Amp by fiber optic. After 3 sessions with Dell, for some reason I got a sub-woofer signal, but the center speaker signal is now going to RF, and the center speaker is getting some kind of signal but very faint. In one of the Message Body Forum regarding NO SUB WOOFER, one response was to go into THX Set-up and change 5. to 7. several times. When I go into THX Set Up - Assignment, I get a center signal, no right front signal, sub-woofer signal (but distorted), and correct rear speakers. When playing CD's or DVD's through X-Fi, I get voices in the right front, and faint center, and sub-woofer split to both sub-woofer and right front. Help!?Is there a solution?Chuck R?I have also had a problem with the Creative ?

For me it was the drivers DELL installed that caused the problem. I have a 9200, with T7700 (7.) speakers. No matter what I did, I never got sound from my side right speaker. Instead the channel would play (quietly) through my front left and right speakers. To fix it, I did the following: - ) Downloaded and installed "TuneUp Utilities 2006" from www.download.com2) Downloaded the latest X-Fi drivers from www.creativelabs.com3) Deintalled all Creative Labs software (control panel/add remove programs).4) Deinstalled the "Creative SB X-Fi" drivers (device manager).5) Deleted the "c:\program files\creative directory".6) Moved the DELL drivers (c:\drivers\audio) to my desktop.7) Performed a registery clean up, using TuneUp.8) Rebooted.9) Canceled the "new hardware" install, when promted.0) Installed the latest X-Fi drivers.) Rebooted. By this time it was working, but did not have all the Creative Labs software. So : - 2) Inserted X-Fi CD and selected custom install, when prompted.3) Selected all but the SB X-Fi drivers. End result a working system.

    3. When using the X-fi extreme music with the audigy 2ZS I/O dri've, can I use the same data ribbon cable that connects the soundcard to the I/O di've ( the one that came with the audigy 2ZS)
    4. Is there a noticeble difference in sound quality between the audigy 2zs and the X-fi. Does the X-fi have better sound quality, I've heard conflicting opinions on this between people who say it is better and people who say they don'nt hear any noticeble difference.

  • Which driver for Extreme Music ???

I have the X-fi Extreme Music card and like others are having some driver related issues. I had tried to upgrade to the latest driver and really had trouble. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times from the CD and website. Current installed driver is version 6.0..304 dated 2/22/2008. This is not the driver that?is on the CD (bought the card over a year ago)?but then doesn't appear to be the latest driver either that was released in March. I reloaded so many times I'm not exactly sure where this driver came from. Does anyone know? Having the issue of both front and rear channels coming through the front speakers (5. speakers)?and also the issue with the volume starting out in the max position. What seems to be the driver version that is working best with these cards?Message Edited by southernfried64 on 03-24-2008 2:5 AM

    sk8mandan,
You can use the listing for Audigy Gamer.

  • Bus noise on X-fi Extreme music for SCSI user....any solutions yet?

    Hi there!
Some time ago i bought my X-fi extreme music card...and i have not been
able to use it properly yet !!!
My problem is: - I use a adaptec 2960N scsi controller in my system, wich i have all
my dri'ves and HD connected to. It use one PCI slot (slot ).
When i play any sound/music with the X-fi card and there is
"additional bus activity" (normally from HD) then the sound "scratch".
Done so far: (with no result)
    - Change the card's PCI slot
    - Update the latest creative driver
    - Update the mainboard bios
    - Change the ASPI settings
    - Increase the X-fi latency for the PCI card
    - Made sure the X-fi dont share IRQ with any other card
    - Tested the X-fi card in another computer...and there it works BRILLIANTLY
    (nforce 3..no scsi just ide)
System info: Epox Ep -9PDA+ Ultra Nforce 4
AMD X2 dual core 4400+ CPU
    024 MB A-data DDR 500 RAM
Maxtor Atlas V Ultra60 SCSI HD
    Geforce 7800 GTX
I've read that there are other SCSI users who expirence the same problem
as me on several net forums.
I've also asked Adaptec who have made my controller for a "driver" update,
but they say that the problem is the sound card so its therefore up to
    creative to solve it.
I talked with a Creative representati've in Denmark who promised to forward
my problem, but nothing has happened yet?
Hope someone can solve this little "bugger",
    Best wishes

    Hello
I have a Adaptec 39320A-R SCSI Controller with some SCSI dri'ves.
I had ZERO problems with my previous AUDIGY 2 ZS. No noises or cracks or popping , at no time.
Now i have the crackles and pops / noises , when i listen to music and there is some harddri've activity.
I just can avoid it, by switching to audio creation mode, and enable "bit matched playback" in the options there, so it seems, it just is a "simple" software issue, that could be solved.
As soon as i switch to game mode or entertainment mode (regardless of all optimizations are turned on or off) , i get the annoying noises.
I hope there will be a good software update soon.

  • Is an X-Fi xtreme Music card answer to my probl

Hi, I have been using an 'ADS Tech Instant Music' standalone USB box to record line-in audio as WAV files at 6-bit 44.. I am using a good quality digital mixer through which I am recording vinyl 2" singles. I just want to put them on CD. The problem I am having is that I don't think the sound quality is very good. The recordings sound 'furry' and digitized if you know what I mean. This is the same using the SP/DIF from a Sony CD player.
I am interested in getting the X-Fi Extreme Music card if this will solve the sound quality issue for strictly this one issue. Is the X-Fi the answer to my problem?
I am not interested in games or multi-media applications or even any other setup than normal stereo. I just want to make copies of my vinyl (through a mixer with its own pre-amp) and burn them to CD for use in any domestic CD player.
    Can anyone help?
Will my PC setup be OK?
Are the SCP problems related to audio recording as well as sound in games?
    My system is: Fujitsu Siemans Scaleo P with a Gigabyte 8945PE motherboard, P4 3.40 GHz proc, XP SP2 Home, BIOS AT/AT Compatible 2/07/05, 2 Gig of RAM, 2 x Samsung 49BG HD's, Radeon X550 + Secondary.

    Can anyone tell me?

  • Extreme Music phase o

I'm interested in the Extreme Music card, but notice that it's not available for sale at us.creative.com. Nor is it at Best Buy online. Anybody know what's up with that??And if it is available, can someone give me a reason why I would prefer it over the ExtremeGamer? I mostly listen to music and like the fact that the Gamer would connect to my Intel front panel headphone jack. Listening on headphones, which I do a lot, would be a pain with the Extreme Music - My Boston Acoustics speakers don't have a headphone jack, which would mean that I would have to swap cables or get a splitter to use my headphones. Since the two cards have essentially the same feature set, is there any real world advantage of the Music over the Gamer? Thanks!

"We now have the Extreme Audio and Extreme Gamer."
    errr
"We now have the Audigy LS and Extreme Gamer."
Well that's a pickle... Xtreme Music gets discounted after one and a half year but yet, Audigy LS is still with us and even gets rebranded to X-Fi Xtreme.. just because CL has a lot old stock of it's
    whoosh
Why did they get rid of Xtreme Music? Because it was the best-seller. Low price, same features and performance as a lot more expensi've Fatalty. Great trick - forcing people to buy Fatalty Gamer or Audigy LS because they still have them in stock.Message Edited by crazyandlazy on -30-20060:33 PM
