Those Annoying Yellow "Tip" Bars

These drive me crazy. There must be a way to shut off those annoying "this image is a placeholder" yellow bar that somehow can overlay a window in another program and won't go away until you return back to Pages and move the cursor. Is it something that can be done from the command line?

For me, it's system-wide (I was pointing at the camera when I took this shot) and has been since my first Mac in the mrd-nineties. I can remember that at the time I had a choice to turn the feature on or off, but I've left it on all the time and now I can't find the off switch. Maybe it's not optional anymore.
I'm afraid I'm going to be like my doctor: when I ask him a question he doesn't know the answer to, he changes the subject.
Try the OS X forum. If it's a system feature, someone there should have an answer. (We can hope.)

Flashing tips bar in PSE 10

Yesterday I asked: "How do I get rid of the annoying flashing tips bar at the bottom of the screen in PSE 10?" It takes up space on my monitor and provides no useful service, e.g., if I want to make a photo look like a woodcut, I'll look it up myself rather than wait until that's the "tip of the day."
I got a reply that stated:
"Change your folder options in Windows to view hidden files. In the Program Data directory, find the
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Application SWFs
subdirectory and rename the .SWF files."
I sure appreciate the assistance.
I tried this and initially thought it worked. But now the idiotic tips keep reappearing, how annoying! I check the Application SWFs directory and all 3 of the original files were in the folder. So I renamed the folder but then PSE 10 recreated the folder with the files in it. Who owns my computer? Apparently Adobe thinks they do.
So, any other ideas as to how to eliminate random tips from occupying my monitor?

These little items are downloaded to the directory, meaning if the directory is renamed, a new one will be recreated when new content is added.
To disable this, go to Edit > Preferences > Adobe Partner Services in the Elements Organizer and uncheck everything. Then click the Reset Accounts and Clear Online Service Data buttons. Then restart Photoshop Elements.
The Reply button should appear in the bottom right corner of every post listed as long as you are currently logged into the forum site. If you are logged in and do not see the buttons, try refreshing the page.

How do I remove those annoying little words that appear at my tool tips?

How do I get rid of those little pop up words at the tips of my tools when I select objects.
They usually say "path" or "object"

Those ‘annoying little words’ can be extremely useful if you are searching for anchors or trying to get things to snap properly.
They should definitely not be dismissed as ‘annoying’.

Firefox 4 search bar and "Tips" bar are blank windows that do not work. Removed F4 and downloaded again three times but no joy. Gone back to F 3.6.17.

On Firefox 4 home page the "Tips" bar and search bar above it
are both blank windows. The search bar does not say Google on left side. I can type in search bar but when I click on search nothing happens. ( Desktop XP Pro)
On my Laptop (XP home edition) Firefox 4 works fine and I have not found any faults so far.
It's a shame losing RealPlayer downloader for YouTube. I have to go to IE for that.

Seems that may have worked and that's great, thank you. But now I have another problem which seems to be as persistent as the search bar has been.
Now when I edit the bar and position of the buttons some of those buttons disappear when I click Ok in the customization, but reappear when I reopen the customization settings.
Why is that? When I put a space in between some of the buttons the buttons near the space will disappear and leave a blank space where it should be.
I'm beginning to be rather annoyed with this Firefox Beta to say the least and am considering returning to the version before it. Whatever I do now as far as customizing is concerned of the toolbar is reset every time I reopen Firefox. The buttons are no longer where I had set them up, the address bar is stretched to it's maximum, the Menu Bar is back the far left edge, buttons are missing that I had put there, and buttons I had removed are returned.
:| I know it may seem insignificant to some people but it annoys the crap out of me. I understand this is a beta and if there is no solution then I perhaps will use the earlier version for a while.

6520 Horizontal white stripes in yellow test bar

My 6520 all in one printer doesn't print yellow like it should. I ran the utilities and replaced the cartridge with another new HP cartridge and it still has horizontal stripes in the yellow test bar.

It appears that you're having an issue with the yellow ink printing out correctly with your Photosmart 6520. I will do my best to help you with this.
I would recommend starting with this document: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages. If you have done all of those steps already, or are still unable to get the yellow working after doing them. Then I would suggest contacting support for further assistance.

How to Get Rid of those annoying Updates on Home p...

How do you get rid of those annoying UPDATES that appear on my Home Page. In the past I was able to go to VIEW>COMPACT VIEW,then hit DEFAULT then MAXIMIZE and all UPDATES would disappear,infact all ads too and I would only be left with several of my contacts profile pictures at the top. Today I had to change my Password cause I forgot my password and I cant get rid of those updates PASSWORD TOKEN and PASSWORD SUCCESSFULY CHANGED. Nothing works to delete these. Tell me how. Thanks

I am thinking Skype doesn't offer that feature. I "Deleted Contacts" and they will not go away on my home page. It is getting to the point of beyond annoying and traumatic. I want them to go away and I have no power to do that on Skype? I emailed Skype and they simply told me to wait. I just posted like 20 status updates myself, thinking there is a limit. I don't see their faces anymore, but the scroll bar just got shorter.
@Skype... if you are reading this... do another update that allows us to delete annoying home page updates... ESPECIALLY when they are deleted from your contacts!

How can I turn off the annoying yellow boxes that have started appearing?

It seems that recently I have started having annoying yellow boxes appearing when I hover over thing in the finder window. This is something that I didn't have going on in the previous 3 versions of Mac OS X.

This appears to be a third party extention of some sort with the bright yellow background? Start there if you modified.

I understand that when you click on Edit this task in the message bar in InfoPath 2010, nothing happens. Does this happen when you open the email which contains the ‘Edit this task’ link?
If so, you can try to check whether this key is in your regedit. If so, you can delete this key and have a test.:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

Since 5/22/12 I have an annoying yellow banner in Firefox (and other web pages) stating that "some plugins are out of date on this page.") How do I get rid of this? I've checked my plugins and I'm fine for my Mac OS (10.4.1).

How to finally get rid of those annoying little plus sign boxes in a table

Hello everyone!
Pages treat table cells as a _*TEXT BOX*_
If those +*annoying little plus sign boxes*+ are popping up, do this to get rid of them:
1. Open Inspector
2. _*Select all*_ on your table
3. Click on T
4. Click TEXT
5. GO to _*INSET MARGIN*_ and SLIDE until the little plus sign boxes disappear.
FINALLY the boxes are gone!

Obviously you are one of the fortunate ones who has never had to deal with the dreaded little box with an X in it!
All of us here were seeing it all the time up until yesterday and it was driving us CRAZY!!
Imagine this:
You are trying to get some work done in Pages
In a table
You add some text to a cell
Then you find out that you have to make the table smaller because
suddenly you have to insert another table on the page
As you are making the table smaller
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Inside the cell with the text *a little box with an X in it appears* and will not go away.
If you are working with MANY cells in a table
You are looking at A LOT OF LITTLE BOXES with X's in them.
Suddenly you feel *SEA SICK* looking at all those little boxes
You read the entire iWork Manual line by line BUT cannot find anything to HELP
Your project is not a numbers candidate
You have been a mac user for YEARS and YEARS
You know your macs, you know your mac issues
WHAT TO DO
I am sure you can see the dilemma we were in!
Then all of us realized that this is similiar to a text box issue and cell padding issue from our Adobe CS suite programs and sure enough it WAS!!
That is basically the problem ALL of US were having.
So if our solution can help anyone - *WE ARE GLAD*
because they were probably getting *SEA SICK TOO* trying to get some work done

Yellow security bar in IE

Has anyone figured out how to deal with the yellow security bar in IE when linking to MS Word files (for example)?
We've got a file linked from a page at the end of the project for the user to download. They click the link, the yellow bar pops up, they click and choose Download File, and the browser reloads the page (thus restarting the project from the beginning). The user has to re-navigate to the final slide to get back to the download link, which now works.
We're using Open URL or File to trigger the download. Is there a better option?

You are saying you deploy this to 50,000 users? Certainly that must mean they access the content via a web server, no?
It's my understsnding that YOU, as the Captivate author, will see the Yellow Information Bar on your own PC when you are testing by running the content from your local C drive, but once you copy the content to a web server the end user should not encounter the Yellow Information Bar.
Are you saying that when end users access the content that they encounter it there?

I would like to allow a plugin to be downloaded but the yellow information bar to allow this is missing.

I want to allow a plug-in to be installed but the yellow information bar which would allow me to do this is missing. Both "plugin.hide_infobar" configs are set to false. I disabled the pop-up blocker as well. How do I allow that plug-in to be installed manually?

Yellow render bar in Premiere Pro CS6

hey there,
quick specs:
HP Z820, 64GB RAM, NVidia quadro 6000 (alongside with a BlackMagic 3D extreme for monitoring), ext. SAS-RAID, Windows 7 64bit, Adobe PP CS6.
the issue is quite simple from the outside:
any codec i slam into a new sequence gives me yellow (render) bars.
doesn't matter if i customize the sequence or right click "new sequence from clip" (which i assume fits my sequence settings to my clip settings)
the only codec that doesn't give me yellow bars is mpeg2. (really..?!)
to check i turned the CUDA engine OFF - red bars immidiately.
and even with yellow bars (which PP should be able to play back at least i get the choppiest playback sometimes)..
but as you see it shouldn't be a hardware problem - so what am i doing wrong or didn't i get the idea of creating sequences?
any suggestion appreciated.

"so what?" is not really a term that i often use. when i encounter a problem, i try to fix it or at least push as far as i can push to get the optimum under the given circumstances. "works anyway" doesn't really cut it for me.
i want to understand why there's the need to render despite the fact
- that all my hardware and software is supposed to eliminate exactly this
- that other companies solved this problem years ago
- that adobe promotes a product that should do the job, but obviously doesn't
and it actually does not playback fine. sometimes (=usually) the playback is choppy, sometimes the playhead jumps back to start without any reason and a few other problems i came across.
i understand that adobe PP is not in the game as long as AVID is for example, but they claim to have a professional product (at least the name suggests it but as far as i am concerned if you really put PP to the test it tends to bend and sometimes to break.
as much as i love dynamic link (main purchase reason) - i just can not run sensitive projects on it. or, before i do i need to understand why these things happen.
you totally don't have to but i hope you understand my position.

Hello to all! I wonder if there are any means [shortcuts] of getting the yellow cycle bar to be placed at any chosen point of one's track? Presently I am using the cursor to drag and place it at the desired place, and also have to tug at its ends to resize it. Having become used to FCPX's 'shortcuts' which are so easy to use, I would love to know whether there are any shortcuts to place the yellow bar where we want it [say, place the skimmer at that point and click upon the mouse!]

"You can drag songs". Mac 101. That was the key. I immediately dragged my "Bluegrass" Smart Playlist into the Up Next box and "Viola"!
