Thoughts on Android 4.3 update

Since there are so many different kinds of problems being reported after the last two Android updates I am wondering if the problem lays with a conflict between the two updates. 4.2.2 supplemental security update was only released a couple of weeks before 4.3.  There were a few problems with the security update, but the majority are now coming after 4.3. The two updates just might be at war with each other.
I have yet to update either one of them, but was wondering if anyone here has just installed only the 4.3 update and if they did if they encountered any problems?
If I do decide to install the updates my plan is to back up every thing on the phone and do a factory reset before the first update is downloaded, install the first then do a factory reset again, download the second and install it then do a third fatory reset. I will not reload any apps back to the phone until I find out if the phone is working without all the problems listed from others here. Any apps I do reinstall will be downloaded from the play store instead of using a backed up copy.  This is a lot of work and when I have a day to do this it will well be woth the extra time involved..

I did the 4.2.2 update 2 days after it came out without issue (Lucky).  I did not do any resets or backing up as the stuff is backed up to the gmail.  I finally did the update for 4.3 last night and noticed I was getting some security warning shield every few minutes and on each re-boot.  I searched and found several were having this issue and a factory re-set fixed this issue, which a factory re-set will fix many issue but no one likes to do them but, after about 2 hours of this warning coming up.  (something about something entering a secure area that it should not)  I just did the factory re-set and I have not seen the warning again and my phone is back to what it was before the update.  All my stuff auto downloaded from gmail.com and I have set most of that up including my Starbucks card, so will go down today and get my free drink I have coming before it goes away.  YMMV good luck with your updates.  Just glad the experience was not as that horrible update they give us on the SIII and then it took them 2 - 3 weeks to come up with a fix. and the only thing you could do was either let VZW replace your phone with a refurbished or search the internet on how to roll back to the previous version.  I rolled mine back to the previous version and when the new update came I was able to do it without issue.  What a nightmare that was a few months ago.

  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2 Update

When will Verizon approve the Android 4.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?  The slowness of Verizon to approve updates is inexcusable!  And to that I'll say, "I'm done!"  I am so disgusted with Verizon and their inability to provide updates to what is supposed to be a "Nexus" device.  It's not like they have to manipulate around manufacturer software.  It's pure Google operating system.  Load and test the drivers for CDMA and LTE and then launch the update.  At the MOST that should take no more than 2 weeks!  Since I have had my Nexus on Verizon, I have not recieved a single update prior to 2 months!  Android 4.2 update from Android 4.1 is so miniscule and, might I add, required no additional new drivers, so what is the hold up Verizon?  Where is the Android 4.2 update?  And, yeah, I know some techy out there is going to say, " well why don't you just jailbreak and load it yourself?"  Because I shouldn't HAVE to jailbreak my phone.  It's not a matter of can I do it, it's why can't I do it without jailbreaking from Verizon?  They sold this phone initially by claiming it to be a "pure Nexus" device and it's been nothing of the kind ever since!  So I say, "I'm done!"  That means that when my contract is up, I'm return to AT&T!  They have upgraded the towers in the area that I live and my friends on AT&T say their signals are even better than Verizon's.  AT&T's new LTE towers download at faster speeds than Verizon's too.  I would have happily stayed with Verizon if they would have only taken the Pure Nexus experience seriously!
To those who have stated that I've said this for Jelly Bean 4.1, you are correct!  The only reason I'm still here is because of the hefty penalty Verizon will charge me for terminating my contract early.  My contract doesn't expire until December 2013 so it would be a rather hefty penalty to pay.  But Android 4.2 has confirmed that Verizon refuses to change their position on slow updates, so when my contract is up (as I believe I stated on 4.1), you won't see REDNIBKRAM on Verizon anymore!
It appears as though the Verizon "love freaks" just can't seem to get the message.  I'm not saying that the updates aren't difficult, I'm saying that if Verizon chooses to use CDMA technology over GSM and that requires them to jump through hoops to get updates completed, then they should have NEVER agreed to carry a "pure Nexus" device, or at the very least, should have NEVER advertised the device as such.  My whole point is that Verizon LIED TO ME and told me that my phone was a "pure Nexus" device when I purchased it and switched from a GSM phone company (AT&T) when, in fact, they knew that I would NOT be getting updates directly from Google as the GSM versions of the SGN do.  At the very least, if Verizon really wanted to make this right, they would offer to allow anyone with a SGN phone who was lied to when they purchased it to exit from their existing contract without penalty, so we can purchase a "TRUELY PURE NEXUS" phone direct from Google or provide us with a choice of another phone (Windows Phone, iPhone, etc.) without having to renew a 2 year contract.
All I'm saying is that if Verizon won't or can't update the phones they themselves advertised as a "pure Nexus" phone, then they should make it right to the people they lied to.

I didn't go back to AT&T for JB in August because the of VERY HEFTY penalty I will have to pay for cancelling my contract early and I got the Android 4.1 JB update.  Once I received the update and because the the penalty, I decided to give BIGRED another change at the next update.  I thought, "maybe it was such a huge update that they really needed to make sure everything was done right."  So, now here we are waiting for the 4.2.1 update and I'm still getting the same response from BIGRED as I got for JB 4.0 update.  It's quite clear that VZ DOESN'T CARE about customer satisfaction.  They use the excuse that they want their network to be the best and they want their phones to operate with little or no problems, yet when problems ARE discovered, it takes them months to send out the updates that Google has already released months prior.  I have discussed updates with Verizon, Google and Samsung support personnel.  I have even contacted Verizon Corporate and I fully understand the process by which updates are done, and believe me when I say that the update process at VZ is in serious need of restructuring.  Especially when it comes to Android devices.  But as far as this Android 4.2.1 update is concerned, I have spoken with Google and they have informed me that there was NO changes made to the operating system that would affect the CDMA or LTE drivers on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, so there should be no reason why Verizon would not want to release the update.  The small changes (additions) to the operating system would in no way affect the communications on VZ.  So why hasn't VZ released this update yet.  Corporate says they need to test the software to ensure it doesn't affect communications on their network, yet Google hasn't changed anything in the operating system that would, so what are they testing?  VZ may have the better network, but CARRIER EXPERIENCE ISN'T ALL ABOUT THE BEST CONNECTION.  It's about customer SATISFACTION and not receiving updates on a pure NEXUS device in a timely manner is inexcusable and in NO WAY SATISFYING!  So when my contract is up, I will be returning to AT&T or giving T-Mobile a try on a pure Nexus device with no contract!

  • Android 2.2 update coming in early September- Will it address the email notification issues??

The upcoming Android 2.2 update for Droid X. Will this update address the email notifications issues?? I don't have a corporate email account, but use my Droid X for my personal business. I love this phone but the email is annoying. The emails are not coming through quick enough, I don't get notified when new email arrives. I have to do a refresh to lear that I have new emails in my inbox.
I want like to know if the upcoming 2.2 update will address these issues for personal email like aol, yahoo etc. I know they mentioned something about exchange servers being faster. This is a disappointment for me, I thought I have push email with Droid X but not really. Can Verizon comment on this?
    Thanks,

I did all those, ie. set my email config to push email, battery on performance mode, check my outgoing and incoming servers and ports. All are corect settings, I even configured all my aol accounts with gmail settings to see if that would work but still not getting push emails. I even did a factory reset. I know this is an issue because I also checked Motorola support forums, a lot people were experiencing what I am going except that I think most them have corporate email and exchange issues.
I don't know whether this could be addressed with the upcoming 2.2 update not just for corporate but personal emails as well, VERIZON ? Motorola??
    Thanks

I live in Somerset, UK, but having recently come back from a trip to Germany, my iPad thinks it is still  in Germany.  Is there any way to correct this?  I am new to apple conventions, but thought this was an automatic update when the iPad locks on to a local Wifi hotspot.  Any thoughts out there?

Thank you all for responding - much appreciated, but none of the advice has shifted my location from Germany.  Time Zone is shown as Lonon, Region Format is shown as UK, and Reset Network Settings seemed only to switch off the Wifi connection.
I'll leave it at that I think, and make do with the iPad thinking it's in Germany.

  • Re: Android 3.1 Update for AT100 Tablet

Does anyone know when the Android 3.1 update for the AT100 is due for release? It was shipped with 3.01xx.
I have read that it was released for the Thrive (AT105) in the USA in July and was hoping to be able to Update my AT100.
    Thanks in advance.

If you are in Australia, I believe you will soon be able to get the 3.1 update by sending it into Toshiba for a free flash/upgrade.
    I found their support site:

They said there was no Over The Air update, at least not yet.

  • K1 Android Market PLEASE UPDATE THIS!!!!

Please update the android market!! I am sick of finding incompatible apps, that if I download the apk from another market or site I can install and work fine. This device is being limited by Lenovo market from the sounds of it, which in turn google will not update to the current market. I really want movies and music via my google account. Why do you advertise the android market when it is limited.

I posted this in another thread but thought it would be more appropriate here.
So it gets more interesting. After manually installing the Market APK I've noticed the following:
    1. Going to Settings -> Manage Applications -> All, I can see two Market versions! The original one (v 1.0.28) as well as new. Ttere must be something unique about the original Lenovo version since there's no way to uninstall it and it's not being replaced.
    2. There's only one Market in the app drawer. That market always takes me to the original Market.
    3. To get to the new Market, I have to launch the old Market, click on 'My Apps'.
    4. You can set the PIN control from the new market.
    5. New Market has Apps, Music, and Books.
    6. But still no Videos...

  • Excite PRO 3G connection not work after Android v4.3 update

    Hello,
I live in Italy and on last Sunday (january 26th) my Excite PRO tablet (model AT10LE-A-10H) got the Android version 4.3.201121220.35.
After restart my wifi works fine, all other app work fine, but my 3g connection doesn't work, mobile network bar is empty and it says "no service".
My sim card is ok. I used this sim card before the system update and I didn't get any problem with Android 4.2.2.
    Please help me.
    Thank you

    >After restart my wifi works fine, all other app work fine, but my 3g connection doesn't work, mobile network bar is empty and it says "no service".
Go to the mobile network settings and search again for the 3G network.
I had similar problem with my Android Smartphone and my o2 provider
I started new search, then I chosen the O2 again and then I could solve the problem.
In case this does not work for you, recommend you to reset the tablet back to default (factory settings)

  • No 3G or 4G connection after the Android 4.3 update

My HTC one updated itself overnight to Android 4.3 & since the update I do not have a mobile data connection. All I get is a message that says my data is roaming & that it may incur significant charges? How do I get my mobile data connection back? Wifi is fine but 3G & 4G are unavailable.

Double check the Settings >> Mobile data >> Preferred network - be sure it is set to LTE/CDMA mode.  When our HTC One updated, it defaulted to Global and we needed to reset it to LTE/CDMA mode.  Also check to insure that data roaming is set to OFF.  And you may try removing and reinserting the SIM card just to reset the data connection.

  • Hp slate 7 voicetab android os not Update

This morning I got a system update on my HP Slate7 Voice Tab for android KitKat 4.4.2.
After the download was over, it asked for a system reboot. However, on rebooting, the following image appeared on the screen:
I tried doing a factory reset but that did not work. Neither did removing and putting back the battery. I browsed the Hp support foum and although I found that other users have also had problems getting the update, the remedies they suggested did not work for me.
It has been eight hours now and there have been no changes on my device. It's still not working.
I would be highly obliged if someone could help me out.

  • Error 505 on all Android 5.0 updates

There is a huge bug were if people update their phone to Android 5.0 Lollipop, it removes all AIR applications installed and then it doesn't let the user install them again from Google Play because it shows the error 505.
A big amount of users are complaining about this issue.
Please Adobe take a look on this, I think is a critical bug for most of the developers. Are you aware of this?
    Thank you
    Alberto

The back of my z2 cracked during the winter so 3 weeks ago i sent it to sony so that they could fix my back glass, by the that l had not received lollipop at here in the US it was not yet available. So they asked me to backup my information as they would reset the phone when it got to them. So i tried to backup using PC companion and i failed so i decided to backup on my SD card using the backup and restore application in the applications menu. So this week they sent the phone back to me and it had been a update to lollipop, when i tried to restore my backuped data from my SD card it would not let me with an error message saying there is incompatibility or OS. My question is :  Where is the    v4.3 Androd  "Camera Circular Menu System" for the Camera or Android "Photo Spere"

    Android update 4.3
Seems SONY does there own version of the OS
I just loaded it, and my wall paper image seems a bit more saturated closer to what my S3 looked like.
Some of the apps like Time and Sonys Walkman visually look different.
And it might be my imagination but it might feel slightly faster.
