Thread Status Icon Problem

Hi,
A problem that I have been facing for quite a while now is that several threads appear with the status icon which means that "Threads whose contents have changed since my last visit (semi orange icons)" but the issue is that I have never visited those threads. So how come they are marked with such a status (they should just be white icons).
Please check this out
Regards

A problem that I have been facing for quite a while
now is that several threads appear with the status
icon which means that "Threads whose contents have
changed since my last visit (semi orange icons)" but
the issue is that I have never visited those threads.
So how come they are marked with such a status (they
should just be white icons).Mmmm shouldn't then they be orange if youv'e never visited them?
OK I also sometimes have problems, I log in and got a big list of unread or semi-unread threads. And suddenly somewhere in the middle of all them one or two that are white showing that I've completely read them. But it is not possible, unless of course someone other is not working under my account which I hope is not true ;)
Probably someone just edited the post and it doesn't mean that thread has been updated?
Anyway to be frank for me this possible bug is on a very low priority because it happens quite rare and the problems coming out of this are quite tiny. I'd classify this bug as "cosmetic" ;)

  • Problem With Airport Status Icon After Snow Leopard Installation

Everything seemed to go well except on the Menu bar where the Airport status antenna is. Normally it shows a digital timer showing how long my internet connection has been up ( I use PPPoe ). After the install the icon shows that I'm connected to my AEBS, the network is up and the internet connection is up as well, can access mail and all web sites. Airport Utility shows no problems and that the connection is up but that digital timer no longer shows up at the icon. Does anyone have ideas? I did repair permissions and restarted the computer but no luck. And I have show Airport status checked in system preferences.
    John

I too am facing issues with the Airport status icon in the menu bar after I upgraded to 10.6.
My internet connection works fine over Airport, I am even writing this post using my airport connection. When I go into the Settings panel and further into Network I get a green status indication on my Airport connection. So far nothing out of the ordinary.
But, when I look at the status icon on the menu bar the icon is dimmed out, as if I did not have a connection. When I click on it it says that I have not installed an airport card. Though obviously I have!
Anyone else facing the same issue?

  • Status icons in menu bar flickering

Since installing Mac OS X 10.7.2 on my 15" MacBook Pro (early 2011), the status icons in de menu bar are constantly flickering.
This is a video of the icons flickering: http://tinypic.com/r/314qopc/7 .
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Simon.

    I'm having the same problem.
The only way to stop the flickering is to:
Go to spotlight in system preferences.
    Click on Privacy
    Click the "+" button
select Your hard drive from the drop down menu
This should stop the flickering but it does mean you can't search in spotlight. I've also found that if you try and use the dictionary the dictionry app will crash. Also if you 3 finger tap a word in safari to define it safari will also crash. But it is a temperary solution for the flickering.
    Hope this helps

  • Bluetooth status icon in the wrong place?

Well I turn on the MacBook Pro this morning to find that the bluetooth status icon is now between the clock and spotlight. Usually it was next to the airport status icon. On my old powerbook it was always next to the airport status icon. So i thought it was just some simple glitch and I restarted the laptop to find that it is still in the same place next to spotlight. I know it may sound odd but its bothering and looks really odd. Is there something wrong with it? Anyone have this same problem? Thanks I've only had my MacBook Pro for 3 days, there have been so many problems I have been running into with it(ie. opening photobooth yields a green screen at first, won't connect to my wireless network, itunes takes forever to open resulting in front row to lag and freeze, etc.) and I have already installed all the updates. If anyone has any insight to my other problems please let me know.

What ever Icon you add to the file bar will always go to the very left of the other icons. So if you want it to be on the very left then all you have to do is turn off any other icons in your system preferences then after the blooth is where you want it, put the others back on the left side of it. Or if you just want it at the Very left side, simply go into system preferences in the bluetooth icon, and uncheck the "show in menubar" box, then recheck it to send it to the very left side.
As for a glitchy macbook Pro, I had similar problems when I first received mine, but after a clean install of the OS and reformat of the harddrive things were much smoothe. And by the way, remember that BootCamp is still a Beta software and could cause glitches, or not work properly.
Unless you already have tons of important stuff on your MBP, I would do a clean reformat first off.

  • Airport status icon blinking in menu

My MacBook's Airport status icon in the menu bar blinks periodically, losing then recapturing wireless access. Very annoying. Obviously I can't download anything while it's blinking. And this appears to be when I'm connecting to my Airport extreme wireless N at home as well as my Dlink wireless N at work.... but connecting to a slower G router does not appear to cause this. Any ideas?

I am having a very similar problem. Did you find any fixes for this?
I have a snow base station and have no problems connecting to it with a clamshell iBook running OS X. But with my PowerBook G4, whenever I turn Airport on and try to access the base station, the airport status icon constantly flashes, almost like a pulse.
Today I took my PowerBook to a hot spot, and Airport worked great, so I know that my card is fine.
One thing I'm wondering about -- what firmware are you using on your base station? I currently have 4.0.4, so it's possible that upgrading to 4.0.9 will solve this problem. I'm reluctant for the moment to try the firmware upgrade because the clamshell iBook connects to the snow base station so smoothly. I don't want to mess up one set-up while trying to fix another.
I'll check back in case you have new information, including (I hope) a fix for this.

  • Why is AirPlay status icon missing from menu bar?

After updating to Mavericks and installing/configuring a new AirPort Time Capsule (APTC), no AirPlay icon was present in the menu bar of my Mac. I updated my Apple TV3 software and configured it to the new APTC network. An AirPlay status icon appeared in the menu bar for about 1 day only, and then disappeared. In the Apple TV settings, AirPlay is "On". On my Mac>System Preferences>Displays>Display>AirPlay Display menu (lower left) shows a greyed-out "No devices detected". My AppleTV light is on. Is there a known problem with APTC, or am I missing something?

Cycle power on all of your devices (turn On first your 3rd party router then Time Capsule, then mbp and apple tv). Make sure that your MBP and Apple TV are connected to the same network.
When router mode settings on Time Capsule are set to Bridge Mode, then router is resposible for distributing settings to all of your devices and could have some issues with it. Simply cycling power might resolve your problem.
Some routers might require to be off for a bit longer (up to even 10mins). Try it.

  • Flashing/Blinking Airport Status Icon

    Hello Everybody
I hope you can help me. After clicking my university's wireless network name and entering the WEP password, the signal icon flashes with five bars before going dead/blinking for a few seconds and then appearing to have no signal - very unusual. I have spent a lot of time trying to fix this with our IT experts with no success. We rebooted the computer on a different HD and the same thing happened which led us to believe it was a problem with the Airport card and not the software. However, when I go on various other wireless networks, I can surf the web with full signal so the card appears to be fine. Obviously, I don't want to send it off to the workshop unless I'm sure it's a hardware problem since I will be charged for diagnostics if they don't find a problem with the card
Thanking you in anticipation of a favorable response to my query,
    Jack

  • Scorecard - Status icon disappears

    Hi you all,
I have a big problem in OBIEE Scorecard. I have latest patch 11.1.1.6.5 installed.
In an objective, the default assesment formula is "Worst Case". When I change the objective to "Weighted", status icon disappears.
I have tested in Sample Sales Lite, but it doesn't have that kind of problem.
Hope somebody win 10 points for correct answer ;)

  • Audio status icon dimmed — what does this signify?

A friend and I are trying to establish an audio chat connection. He's on an eMac, I'm on a flat-panel iMac, both running OS X Tiger. We both have a broadband connection. Connection speed tests done today show mine as 2.55Mbps down/203 kbps up and his as 952kbps down/122kbps up. I'm connected to my ADSL modem by Airport, he has a direct ethernet connection between ADSL modem and eMac. Neither of us has the OS X firewall activated.
No matter which of us tries to establish an audio connection, the result is the same: the audio window shows 'Waiting for reply…' and never gets to the 'Connecting…' stage. While making our attempts we both noticed that the other's audio status icon in the buddy list was dimmed. Can anyone explain what this signifies and if this is the cause of our problem? If not, does anyone have any other ideas?
    I've uploaded a screenshot here.

I was a good boy, only stayed connected for the bare minimum time . I show Test 02 as busy, but all three display in my buddy list with multi-chat status icons.
I've emailed my friend and asked him to add these test 'users' to his list and see if he can connect to them. I've also managed an audio chat with one of the real test people since my last post, so, as you say, my setup appears to be functioning correctly. Tuesday will determine if my friend and I will have to resort to the old-fashioned telephone. I'll follow up here with an update.

  • Battery status icon meaning (?)

this seems like a dumb question, but i can't for the life of me find any apple document that explains what the battery status icons mean.
there's one with a lightning bolt and one that looks like a power plug.
i'm assuming that lightning bolt = charging and power plug means it's running off the adapter and the battery is fully charged?
i'm on a new macbook pro now, but the reason i ask is that in my old powerbook it was giving me both readings even while charging, so i'm confused...
probably due to faulty power adapter, which i've gone through like 4 of them....(due to them shorting out because they always seem to be on the wrong side of the computer from where i need to plug it in, and therefore causing connection problems due to the bend in the cord).
can anyone confirm what the icons mean?

    thanks.
the reason i'm asking now is that i have a separate issue that doesn't seem to be a problem yet. my current magsafe adapter's green light seems to go out when it's fully charged, if i wiggle it, it comes back on. but in any case, it charges normally and the battery icons function as they are theoretically supposed.
i live overseas and have converted many of my friends to mac's in the last few years, but everyone seems to have the same problem with these chargers, that the plugs short out near where they connect to the computer, this is due to apple putting the power plug on the side of the machine. many times you have to plug it into a wall on the opposite side, and it bends the cord, and after time it starts to fail.
i don't think it's happened yet to this charger, but i wanted to make sure...i swear that i saw the "plug" icon in my battery status with my old powerbook as it was charging, and the lights didn't correspond to what they were supposed to be.
    anyway, thanks!

  • Battery status icon in menu bar not changing

My battery status icon in my menu bar either does not change it's status at all, or takes a long time to change after I plug in, or unplug, my power cord.
I'm not sure what to even try. I've tried removing it from the bar and adding it back with no luck.
This seems to have happened since the latest Software Update for 10.6.5. I have Build 10H574.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Chris

After charging, my indicator stays at 100%. The only way I've found to find out the real status is to put it to sleep, then wake it up again, then stare at it for about 2 or 3 minutes until it refigures the percentage. I got this battery as a Christmas gift and installed it 3 days ago. I calibrated it per instructions. This is very annoying. I can never quite relax because I'm afraid it's about to run down to zero.
I'm on a Macbook Pro pre-2008. My new battery came from the Apple store. It's my 3rd battery on this computer and I've never had this problem before. (I hope you find the answer. I rarely go to the Genius Bar, but I've been there twice this week for other issues--I feel like a knucklehead going back a third time so soon). If I find a solution, I'll try to post it here.

  • Email status icon stuck

Hi all.  I just started a new plan with Sprint last Friday, and purchased a BB Curve 8330m (red, not that it matters but it's really easy on the eyes). I've been a windows mobile guy for years...still am with my work line (Samsung Omnia/Verizon)....but I really like the BB experience so far.
    Anyway, on to the problem.
I setup my various email accounts; 1 hotmail, 1 yahoo, 1 gmail.  Everything went smoothly with the setup, but now I'm having an issue with my email status icon.  I noticed the icon would always show 1 email.  I went to each account and marked prior as read, still the 1 notification.  I went back in and deleted prior from each account, still showed 1 on the icon.  I went through all call lists and facebook app, marked everything read then deleted. Still have the icon showing 1 email.  After looking a little closer I realized when I hover on the hotmail icon it showed (1), but when opened there was nothing in there.  So I deleted my hotmail account and restarted the phone but still have the icon.  Since then I deleted all 3 accounts, and re-added them and I still have this 1 email notification.  AGGHHH.
So I'm out of ideas at this point, short of a full reset of the phone.  I just thought I'd ask here before wiping it.  Is there just something I'm missing?

  • Status-icon at End_Error

    LS,
    Oracle10g
    OWB10g
A ProcesFlow after execution indicates an error or warning in the RuntimeBrowser by a red circle-with-cross-icon for the execution status.
In my ProcesFlow I have a Transaction Activity(function) with outcome 1 for Success or 3 for Error.
Because the Activity is configured as Use Return as Status, the flow reacts correctly on the outcome and is redirected to End_Error.
But the RuntimeBrowser does not indicate any problem, error-outcome.
How do I make the RuntimeBrowser give the error-status-icon, in case the flow ends at End_Error?
    Regards,
    André

    Hi Andre,
I'm guessing the engine does not throw an error and therefore the runtime concludes that the process ended successfully.
I do agree with your idea that it should mark this as run completely but captured the errors.
I'll look into this and see if we should log an enhancement on this for OWB.

  • Status icons on tabstrip controls

    Hello
I have a problem displaying the status icon on a tabstrip control.
I've created an infotype. On the tabstrip control, I've added texteditors and status icons. The status icon is there as an indication to state whether there is information populated in the texteditor.
The texteditors all have information populated in them. Whenever I run the infotype on PA30, the status icon does not appear. It only appears when I click on the texteditor button which is not what i want it to do.
On PA30,I would like the ICON to appear when there is information in the texteditor and not when I click on the texteditor button.
Please advice me on how to fix this problem.
    Thanks

  • Lost WWAN status Icon

I just installed the Verizon wireless VZAccess Manager and found out that I lost the OS X status icon in the menu bar. I removed the VZAccess program, but I did not get the WWAN Status Icon back, any thoughts.
    Thanks

Same problem. I loved having the WWAN icon on my menu bar with my wireless card but when I reinstalled my Verizon VZAccess Manager software it disappeared.
I've spent hours with Verizon and Apple tech support but no one can help me get my icon back onto the menu bar. No solution. Frustrating. I wish I never reinstalled my software.
Note: I know you can go to: System Preferences - Network - AirPort - Show AirPort status in menu bar HOWEVER that is different from the WWAN status that we want to see. Logically there should the same option saying "Show WWAN status in menu bar" under the network choices or in the VZAccess software but... no option is given. Bummer!
