Thread view: could the Legend be moved up?

When viewing a thread, there is a significant amount of empty space on the right. This is due to the Legend occupying a full column alongside all posts, even though the Legend is probably shorter than the first post alone. A lot of the posts here contain code segments, which almost always need to be horizontally scrolled due to the unnecessary narrowness of the post column.
My suggestion is to move the Legend up, to immediately below the Welcome block. This might force the first post down a centimeter or two on the page, but the gain in width of each post would be well worth it, IMO.
BTW, I usually read these forums on an HD (1920x1080) screen. I know I could make the browser window a lot wider and kludge-away the problem that way. Personally, though, I find extremely long text lines a pain to read.

On second thought, it would be better still if the legend is moved to the FAQ.I don't mind the Legend being there; if the rep system is to work, its nice that one knows what the ranks are. It just needs to be moved up, out of the way of the actual posts.
That might free up some space to post info on how to use the code tagsThe code tag info would better be placed in the Reply view, where a new poster would most likely benefit in seeing it.
I have a related suggestion. We could really use a vertical scroll bar in the code panes. I just made a post with 119 lines in a code tag, and it seems silly to have to scroll the whole window when a lot of folks are skimming/ignoring the code segments to begin with. Maybe make the code panes a maximum of 20 lines; any more than that and it would appear with a vertical scroll bar.
(Yes, I know the vertical scroll bar will further narrow the code panes. With the legend up out of the way, though, there will still be a substantial gain in width.)

How do I flip the view of the legend bar so it is vertical instead of horizontal? I want the legend bar vertically positioned in my column chart.

I clicked the show legend button and edited it according to my data but it placed it horizontally. I need it vertical and there does not seem to be a function to flip the view. Does anybody know how to switch the view of the legend bar?

Use the handle at the left or right to the Legend box to reduce the width of the box. The strung-out list will change to columns, and eventually to a single column.

threaded view will not display posts which are replys to other posts in the main view
only when you click on the original post will you see them

Nokia 603 SMS thread view problem

Hi All, My nokia 603 is unable to display the message in thread view. whenever the SMS is sent or recieved it will show some random integers. but if i enter to the folder view I am able to view the entire message. This is happening all of a sudden without any change done in the phone. Some one pls clarify whether it is the known issue, if so please gimme the solution. Thanks, Muralids

We haven't confirmed if this is a known bug as it's not included in the list of Nokia 603 reported issues posted here: Firmware change logs for Symbian (S60) devices.
However, you may try these troubleshooting steps to fix the problem:
1. Check if the conversation view is still activated. Go to Menu, tap on Messaging, and then hit Options ( ≡ ). After that, choose View folders, hit Options ( ≡ ) again, and then select Message View. Set it to Conversations View.
2. If the first option didn't work, try the steps provided in this link: Nokia 603 - Need help in fixing a problem?

Does iCloud mail not have threaded view?

The Mail app on OS X now has a nice threaded view, but the online version of Mail doesn't? I find this really odd, and can't switch over to using it (from Gmail) if this is the case. Perhaps there's a hidden preference I can't find?

When moving from a list of threads view to a thread would be nice to jump to last thread read.

When moving from a list of threads being viewed to a thread, it would be nice to jump to last thread read or first unread thread.
Sometimes the threads get rather long. Sometimes I haven't read a thread in awhile & I forget where I have left off reading a thread. It would be nice to have an icon to click on to move to your last read post or the first non-read post.
Seems this could be implemented in javascript without too much problem. Might be a problem of when to get rid of the tracking data.

This would be a new capability. I didn't know you could jump directly to the last post in a thread by clicking on the posters name in your discussions. However, I am interested in jumping to the first post that I haven't read.
Since writing my original post, I realize that software doesn't know what posts I have read. Lets say there are are 26 posts in a thread. Lets assume these are divided into three pages with at most 10 items in a page:
page 1 -- a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j
page 2 -- k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t
page 3 -- u, v, w, x, y, z
The software know that I have viewed the first three pages. It doesn't know what post on the pages I have read. The software would need to assume I have read all the available posts on a page.
Now lets assume that 12 more post were added. This results in:
page 1 -- a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j
page 2 -- k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t
page 3 -- u, v, w, x, y, z, aa,bb,cc,dd
page 4 -- ee,ff,gg,hh,ii,jj,kk,ll
It would be nice if I could go to aa.
Jumping to the last post in the thread doesn't hack it. You have to spend a lot of time finding where you left off your reading.
Intesting, the list of your posts on your homepage usings the term Last Activity were as Your Discussions uses the term Last Post. The terminalogy should be the same & should act the same. For the existing capability of going the the last post, I was thinking of Goto Last Post.

How to display the color of time period and the legend in Calendar view?

Sorry to disturb you guys with a quite simple question.
I want to do a calendar view to display the period of absence for the portal user. I've setup the iView but it displays neither the color of time period nor the legend.
The problem is:
1) If I test with static legend (that is, I input the time period directly in the form instead of using data service),
 a) I could only define one time period, because it's impossible to map the out port of calendar to in port of form on defining the event as 'goto'.
 b) I can't see the color displayd while deploying although there is just one time period! Neither the legend. I' ve given the label and color of the legend and assigned the action as default in design board. Why it doesn't work?
2) If I test with dynamic legend following the chapter "Display Date on a Calendar" in the Modeler's Guide of VC;
 I assigned @RECORDNR to 'ID legend field', and used BAPI_ABSENCE_GETLIST as dynamic legend data service to edit the legend, and assigned the color for every ID. But neither color nor legend could kindly appear. What's the problem? Is there any error in the edit of entry list of the legend?

From the iTunes menu bar try View>Show View Options. Make sure what you want to see is checked and what you don't is unchecked. You can do this (may need to do this) for any playlists, your main Library, etc.

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.

Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??

Could the occurences of "Sticky Cursor" be reduced by moving to 11g Forms?

Since the Forms and Reports Application I work on has migrated to use the Sun JRE it has been plagued by occurences of the "Sticky Cursor" issue.
Following discussions with Oracle via numerous service requests I can appreciate the cause of the problem and why it is difficult to fully fix. However this doesn't help our customer and the users wrestling with the application.
The application is currently running on 10.1.2.3 + 7482020 (or 7703734) + JRE 1.6.18 and I'm currently looking to test patch 8727236 to see if this improves things.
If the application was moved to Forms 11g would that reduce "Sticky Cursor" incidents?

We are experiencing the same problem! We've just moved from Forms6 to Forms10g both running on UNIX. We are also using JRE 1.5.0_11-b03, but some people uses JRE 1.6.0.20 (although they have 1.5.0_11-b03 version installed as well). In both cases the problem persists.
We are investigating how we could fix this problem via metalink and on forums like this but we haven't find any right and exact solution to the problem, we've read about changing JRE version, but it seems this is not a definetly solution as some people says it works while others don't.
Metalink talks about inserting message bulit-in in our source code in several places and replace it for a synchronize once we detect this message solves the problem. Well, we've found out that writing a MESSAGE('');PAUSE; in WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE trigger solves the problem!, but if we replace that MESSAGE('');PAUSE; with a SYNCHRONIZE; the problem still remains!!! quite curious! Tha fact is writing this message is not a solution for us, we need another solution.
I'm writing here to see if somebody could give me any definetly solution!

Hide the Preview Pane and Delete Mail Without Opening It in Mac OS X Mail
To hide the message preview pane in Mac OS X Mail:
Double-click the bar that separates the message pane from the mailbox pane.
Now, to delete any email:
Highlight the message or messages you want to delete.Hold down the Command key while selecting with the mouse to highlight multiple emails and Shift to highlight a range.
Press Del.
To get the preview pane back, double-click the same bar again.
