Three colors in file?

I created this 2-color file in Illustrator CS3, and when I try to upload it to the printshop I get a response that it contains more than the allowable two-color. I can't seem to find a third color in the file. Can anyone help? .Attachment included.

No problem. Gad to help.
Live color is a tad overkill here though it does work.
All you really need do is select the red strokes.
Open the color book ->
Then click a red swatch. Pantone 186 is generally a great red (Coca-Cola Red)
You could also simply double-click the red Swatch you used in the Swatch panel and change it from processes to Spot. Then tell the printer what red you want to use. This is the simplest method, but it also relies on the printer accurately using the correct red. By setting the red in the file to a specific Pantone color, you ensure that if the printer fouls it up, you can clearly show you specified which red it should have been.

Why do I have three of every file when I search in finder?

When I open finder I see three of every file. I don't remember seeing this until recently. Are these duplicates and, if so, how can I delete them without going to every file name?

Are you searching in Finder or using Spotlight? If using spotlight then it's probably indexing both your system disk and some backup disks thus producing multiple hits.

Hi, just wanted to add my 2¢
I've been in publishing over 25 years and live in Acrobat for making my final files. Currently with a newspaper.
This is what we do:
• Tool Panes > Print Production Window
• Select CONVERT COLORS
• Midway down under OUTPUT INTENT, check Convert Colors to Output Intent
• In the associated drop down menu, I choose (because I'm printing on newsprint) DOT GAIN 20% – If you're working on better stock, choose a lower dot gain percentage.
• Click OK – this will convert the file
• Save
Note: this affects the file you're working with. Make sure that you use this method on a COPY if you want to retain the original color version.
I think if you compare my method to the Preflight method, you'll see a tighter contrast and better blacks. I've always felt the Preflight method left continuous tones a little muddy.
Now if there was only a way to add that to ACTIONS...!

Color swatch file has radically changed!

About a month ago I created a color swatch file of our new company "colors." I put the swatch file (*.ase) into all the respective directories for InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Well, here it is a month later and I tried loading that file. And, everything's gone! When I load it, no changes at all take place in the swatches palette. One thing I had to do in the past month is to delete InDesign 5.5.1 because some of my plug-ins weren't working. So, during that time that I was on 5.5 I never tried to access this swatch file. But, when my plug-in vendor updated their software, then, I re-loaded InDesign 5.5.1. I don't think that has anything to do with this problem. But, anyway, this was a lot of work.

There's a lot here that's not clear.
First, version number would be 7.5.1 I presume? That's the latest patch for CS5.5.
Is the .ase file missing altogether, or is the color mode differnt, or is it just different in appearance? That last could be casued by differnces in color settings from document to document or version to version.

Using iDVD, I've no problem creating a slideshow, but I want to add three seperate sound files, in this case speeches I've got in iTunes. I want to create three individual buttons/sub menu to access them individually from the photos. Can anyone help

I want to be able to access them individually and seperately from the photo slideshow. Can anyone advise if this can be done and if it can, how I go about creating the seperate menu and buttons.

If you'd like to integrate the speeches with the slideshow, I'd do that in iMovie where you'll have more control over the timing. Use chapter markers at the beginning of each speech so the viewer can jump to a particular speech (note that chapter markers advance the viewer to a particular spot -- the viewer keeps watching the rest of the video until the end of everything or until they use the remote's menu button).
If you're just wanting the speeches to be on the DVD so people can listen to the speeches after seeing your slideshow, you could:
- use iDVD or iMovie to make a "slideshow" with just 1 image matching the length of a speech.
- create three submenus and use the speeches as menu music. Here's a (random) video on creating submenus:

Setting? Clicking on color NEF files in Bridge change them to sepia/grayscale!

What's wrong? When I download color NEF files into Bridge (CS3 and ACR 4.6) or Lightroom 2, a funny conversion happens without any prompting on my part. In Bridge, if I click on the color thumbnail, the NEF thumbnail turns into a sepia/grayscale, as well as the next NEF image. If I shoot NEF + jpeg, and click on the jpeg, the jpeg keeps the color, but the related NEF does the color change. When I import into Lightroom 2 the color NEF images come into LR as the sepia/grayscale. In the develop module I can recapture color by clicking "Color".

Not sure but it sounds like you ARE applying a preset...what happens if you click on one of the images in Bridge and go up to Edit>Develop Settings>Clear Settings...does that remove the B&W? If so, somehow you've applied a preset. Clearing the settings on all of the files should give you back color images...

The code in the file at the link below might give you a starting point. Firstly it gives you the opportunity to list all of the properties of a file type and then you can select the properties that you want and the second utility gives you the
opportunity to list the selected properties for all files in a selected folder.
Download and extract the file and open the file in Excel.
Click the first button List Meta Data for One File (Run first)
Navigate to and Select any ONE individual photo file. (Photo files because that is what you indicated you are working with.)
You will be presented with a list of the available properties for the file. Where the Item value is blank, that property is not recorded for the particular file. Different file types have different properties and it is also dependent on how the file
was created but generally if all of the files come from the same source then the same properties are recorded for all files from that source.
Now insert a Y in column D for all of the required properties. (Don't select any with the Item value blank)
Click the second button List Selected Meta Data for all Files in a Folder (Run after selecting the required properties).
Next select a folder where the files reside. (You might need to back up to the folder if dialog is blank because it will not show individual files because the code only allows Folders.)
You will be presented with a report listing all of the selected properties for all of the files in the selected folder.
The user interface is not that great but you can improve on that if you want to with a Userform as you get to know VBA a little better.

Photos print in three colors but no black

Using Photoshop Elements 12 and a new Canon inkjet printer, my photos come out in three colors, but no black. I have chosen to let Photoshop manage the color, but I cannot disable printer color management in the printer preference dialog.

As your problem is a technical one, involving the printing from PsE 11, I think that you will receive quick help in the Photoshop Elements Forum. I will Move your post to that forum, and your link and any e-mail subscriptions will follow along perfectly.
I would add a Reply with the exact Canon printer that you are using, and also the printer's driver date and version, and the driver can have great impact on how the printer performs.

am simply looking to at least color the file labels as they were in OS 8, or better, the whole file as Unsanity's Label X used to do.

Three colored vertical gradient in Muse

Hi all,
I want to have a gradient background in Muse. I found there was a very easy way to do this, but I can only choose two colors.
My client wants to have a three colored vertical gradient background, is this possible in Muse?
The top should be black, from black to turquoise in the middle, and back to black again at the bottom.
I know there is a way to add a photo to the background, but I think this will make my site very heavy and large to load, and it should stretch and shrink if browser varies in length and width.
I have the HTML script for this kind of gradient, and I know I can add an HTML into Muse, but I don't know how this can work for a background.
Hopefully anyone can help me!

Hello Sir,
As per the muse functioning only two colors can be use to create a gradient. Although you can create Gradient in Photoshop using more than three colors and later you use the created image in the Muse.

Color setting file malfunction ID CS6

One option in Color Settings is to check the box for "Missing Profiles".
This should alert me, when placing files into a template, that a file is untagged or does not have an embedded profile.
However, it does not. Instead, it automatically assigns it the working space.
I've saved the CSF, and restarted ID. I've used templates created specifically in ID CS6.
Any help would be appreciated.

Opening a color .JP2 file in Photoshop CS6 it's grayscale instead

I have two .JP2 files that i need to open and apply an artistic filter to. When I open the files they open as grayscale instead of color which they are.
Am I missing something i have not worked with JP2 files before.

I was curious so had a look around. I found this site http://www.microimages.com/gallery/jp2/ that has some .jp2 test images on it. I downloaded the world map image (right click and save link not save image or it will save as a .jpg).
On my system - Windows 7 64bit Photoshop CC the file loaded in as a colour image.
So I suspect that CurtY is right that your origional image has been sent to you as a grayscale image.
