Three dead pixels! Help! T420s

Just noticed two more dead pixels on the right hand side of the screen. I have warranty up until 2015 and the warranty type is next day on-site.
Also, the fan is always on fast and makes a lot of noise. A whirring noise to be specific - engineer coming on Friday.
Can anyone advise me on what to do next? Here's some other problems that I am facing:

An engineer is coming on Friday, I have next day service but I am only home all day on Friday.
Just really upset about this, I purchased a £1000+ machine and all these problems under six months is really not good at all.

  • Macbook Stuck/dead Pixel Help

hey i just bought my macbook 2 days ago, and now i notice 2 pixel are dead or stuck, i cant really tell. one of them are light blue colour on top when background is white. and the other one is yellow over white background.
Can anyone please tell me what should i do ?? iam not to sure, iam worries that this is dead pixel that cant be fixed >.<
    thanks for ur concern
    regards
    Erwin.

Those are stuck pixels from the sound of it. If they were dead, well you wouldn't be seeing any color other than black and you wouldn't be able to do a thing. Now with stuck pixels you can supposedly fix these some of the time, but don't quote me on that as I've never have had to deal with them. That said there appears to be a widget you can down that might fix your problem....

I think its worth a shot anyways.....

  • Dead Pixel Help

So i bought my macbook back in May and the complementary and in the last few weeks there has been 2 black pixels down in the corner of my screen , now it looks like there may be a few more, my warranty has just run out and i do plan on getting the international one before i go back home to ireland, but is there any way of fixing it or will they do for me , i dont mind paying a fee to get it fixed , if i could leave the warranty for another few weeks or if ive to get the warranty now will they just replace the screen and not the whole macbook.

If you mean May 2007, your warranty has not run out. You get a one year warranty. Phone support is only 90 days unless you get applecare. Take it into an apple store and they should be able to help you get it fixed. Be sure to back up your hard drive before you do it.

  • New iMAC 27" dead pixels

i got delivery of my first mac, iMac 27" high spec machine and it had three dead pixels.. one phone call to apple and ivw got to say, there service is second to none.. straight away they arranged a second one to be made and delivered, and the first one picked up. i got my second iMAC within two weeks of the phone call.
then the second one had specs of dust under the glass!!! Again, exceptional after sales and im sitting here waiting for my third iMAC to be delivered..
half of me thinking am i being too fussy, but for the £2500 ive spent i expect perfection and apple agree.
anyone who has these issues, if your patient like me, apple have made my problems simply stress free, and im praying the third one is perfect..
my question.. am i being to fussy? three dead pixels , then dust under glass... i mainly do photographic tweaking on the imac so i hope you dont think so??

hi mark wania, i dont think you are fussy. you have the right to ask for replacement because you pay everything for it. i dont see anything wrong. i have similar problem with dead pixels.
do you know how much i have to spend for an iMac in Malaysia? you times the figure with 3.6. and that is about a month salary for a regular executive.
i have spoke to JUDE on this issue. it is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE that apple support set a number of tolerable defect to them. they mentioned about at least 11 pixels to enable me to get a replacement. I am talking about product defect. it does not matter to me whether it is 11 pixels, 100 pixels or even 1. I pay for the price and I am expecting a good product and kind service.
to me, apple should addressed this manufacturing or delivery issue properly.
I have done what the support team asked me to do yesterday and it seems that this is nothing to do with software, drivers or even operating system. I am going to call for a replacement or repair tomorrow as i need to check other thing as well like iSight camera. it sounds like more and more people having defect items. those comments make me feels bad that I might have chosen the wrong computer manufacturer.

  • Dead Pixels covered?

I had a friend buy a Powerbook several years ago and when she noticed dead pixels a few weeks after buying the computer, they told her it wasn't covered.
I just bought a 24" iMac, and to my horror, I found three dead pixels the other night (nearly or just about two weeks after buying it)...is it worth taking back to the Apple Store? It'll be such a hassle, so I want to know if anyone has experienced this before.
    Thank you.

    Chapter 1
I had no difficulty replacing the first 24" I got - it arrived at my office and, having read about pixel probs in these forums, I got it straight out of the box and plugged it in, scouring the screen... and there was one single dead - or stuck - pixel, about 1cm up, above the apple logo. I called them up and there was no argument - replacement (special build 2.33 GHz etc) was ordered straight away and collection arranged for the first one.
    Chapter 2
The replacement arrived two days ago. Same routine - and another solitary dead pixel (I think this is a stuck one - it's dark blue) about 4cm north-west of the apple logo.... After a few Anglo-Saxon oaths, I debated whether or not not return this one but the prospect of another 2 week turn-around was too much; I got it home and loaded it up, really to see if in practice the pixel was noticeable. Because it really is very very small in that huge screen, and to be fair I struggled to see it even when looking for it, a foot away from the screen. And I have to say that it's not bugging me (I'm easily obsessed with small flaws, as well). The screen's so big and bright that it has to be a bit further away than my previous 20", and at that distance the stuck pixel is all but invisible. And it's only visible at all against a perfect white screen (very rarely if ever the case with photos). And it's smaller than most bits of dust etc which attach themselves to the screen and which I live with happily till I give it the occasional clean.
So I think me, my iMac and my stuck pixel look like we're going to get along fine together.
    The End.
PS Wouldn't mind trying the pixel-fixing programme though, if you can remember the name !!

  • IPhone 5 Dead pixel or Dust? Need HELP!!!

    Hi guys,
I'm getting paranoid with the one tiny black dot on the screen of my one month old iPhone 5, I don't know if it is a dust/speck or dead pixel inside the screen. I can notice it with white backround or any light colored background. I am very familiar with the stuck pixel, but this is the first time I encounter suspected dead pixel. Can anyone tell me how to determined/differentiate a dead pixel or dust inside the screen? I also check the screen on sleep mode, as far as I can see there was no dust on that area.
Additionally my iPhone has a rattle near the rear camera like clinging sound, how true that is it really normal? They say it's the camera autofocus mechanism??
    Thank you,

Alright. Whenever I tilt the phone on any side the dark dot sometimes change color like green, black, red. I wonder why i can't even see it right in front display (like normal holding the phone when reading texts or emails). I can barely see it when tilting to different angles. What do you think it is? Sad to say there was no apple store in our country to dropped by and to check my phone by an expert ot technician.
    Appreciate your help dude..

  • Help need to know dead pixel replacement

I'm getting a new screen put on next week for a dead pixel on the lumia 800 but I found scractches yes on gorilla glass and was wondering does the glass get replaced Sewell or is it just the screen because I saw a video on YouTube of a screen replacement on lumia800 and it was all on one the screen glass and touch bottoms help does the glass come with it ????

    Hi JoeHeat,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the forums.
The spare-part for the Lumia 800 screen comes as one unit consisting of the screen, digitizer and the glass. So as long as the repair is being done by an official Nokia Care Point or repair centre replacing the screen also will mean new glass.
    Hope this helps,

  • Could some one help me with dead pixel on my screen?

I bought my Thinkpad X61 only a few days back. I opened it and found that there is one dead pixel in the middle of the monitor. Is there any possibilty that Lenovo would fix this? I know that I have to pay 15% of the purchage amount in order to return this peice. I would be really happy to return it without any costs. I talked to the service people. This is the worst service ever I had. No one is replying. One girl told me that the dead pixel goes away in a few days and It would be okey. It looks like if you order a laptop online, they send you laptop with defective pixels.

  • Dead Pixels? Broken Screen? HELP!

    Hi everyone,
So about 3 weeks ago I bought a brand new 8G iPod touch.
I use it almost every day, and I've never had a problem with it.
Recently, I started getting battery issues which weren't drastic but were obvious enough to bug me, but I let it slide because the amount of time I used the ipod wasn't affected by it.
Just this morning, I was using it, and after I was done I placed it on my desk. Without any use between the time I had put it down, and when I came back for it (About 3 hours), A patch of dead pixels or SOMETHING about the size of a fingernail formed. I got pretty annoyed at this, but I didn't move it anywhere else, because I plan to take it to the store tomorrow and ask about what can be done.
Though, another hour or so after that happened I checked it again, and the patch had gotten bigger.
This kept happening until the patch became a line which strewed across the whole screen.
After that, the screen began to flicker and pulse like a broken TV.
What the heck is going on!?

    Pictures to show the damage.

Hey what happened, did they give you a new one, cause exactly the same thing has happend to mine, I even had it in a protective case thing and grey lines appeared on the screen, But the screen didn't flicker or pluse.
    I've only had it 5days!!

  • Dead pixel - please help!

    Hi,
I recently bought a 5800 and it has a dead pixel on the screen. I was really looking forward to getting this phone and I am now quite disappointed (and disgusted by the service I was offered here in Malta!). I returned it to the shop where I bought it and was told that I have to have at least 5 dead pixels for me to be able to change it. Is this true?
It is still under guarantee as it hasn't even been a month since the date of purchase. They tried to feed me so much bull (including: the laws do not apply for Malta and that i had to go back within the first seven days EVEN THOUGH it clearly says on the guarantee that I have a 30-day period from the date of purchase to take it back).
I really need to know what Nokia's policy is on dead pixels. I paid extra money for a 2-year guarantee from an authorised Nokia dealer, and yet it seems I do not have any rights at all :/
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply
On the phone's user manual, the warranty at the back says that it is for "EU countries". Malta is in the EU and therefore the warranty applies to us aswell. Also, the guarantee (issued by Nokia's local agent) pretty much summarises Nokia's warranty.
But when I spoke to the (incredibly stupid) person who works there, she said that I have to have at least 5 pixels and that I am not eligble to having it replaced.
I understand that it is not Nokia. I've had Nokia phones before and I have never encountered any problem, which is why I opted for a Nokia again. I just wanted to check the facts because they keep telling me that Nokia  will not accept a replacement of the phone with less than 5 pixels :s

  • Macbook Pro Out of box DEAD pixels

Yea, want to get a general consensus, Should i be mad that my 3200$ laptop came with Dead Pixels? I think the general state i should be in is angry.
I will be contacting Apple for a replacement, I don't think thats too much to ask at this point.
    Message was edited by: Nemockulous

You're taking this much further than what it actually is.
Grudge? I don't think so. I don't even work in "the industry." I said I've helped set up and deploy hundreds of laptops (And also desktops, all LCD monitors). I'm at the same end as yourself, but on a larger scale. I work at in a school district in the IT department. So, once again, grudge? I think not.
No. I didn't imply that about LCD screens. I implied that on ANY LCD screen there CAN (Meaning the possibility of an occurrence) be dead pixels. I had dead pixels on my new iPod touch. I'm just sending it in for repair.
Natural reaction? Yeah, I don't think so. I don't think everyone who gets a problem with a new laptop is going to go off cussing left and right. I know I wouldn't. Matter of fact, I bought a new MBP three weeks ago and I suspect that it may have a bad battery. I'm not cursing apple and swearing all about it. That's a rather pointless reaction that gets your no where.
Constructive advice? You can't get very constructive here, since, you have three simple options. Repair. Replace. Money back.
That's great. I'm glad you've got some large nice screen that hasn't had any issues. Guess what, I have 3 LCD screens (MBP, some no name 19" LCD, and a 17" Apple Studio Display), and none of them have had any dead or stuck pixels either. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Oh I should take back that there's only three options. One slight other one. You can try "fixing" the pixels.
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20962
There's one for 10.5. Basically just drop the color square over the dead pixel and have it flash it for five or so minutes. That's really the only software way of attempting to fix it. If it fails then it's a repair/replacement.
Also, unlike the others, I would not suggest getting a replacement. But, this is only if you're sure that everything else on the laptop is absolutely 100%. Then why would you get a replacement? If you're sure everything else work why not just get it repaired? If you get a replacement you're risking having new issues with the MBP that could be more serious than dead pixels.
One thing to do in making sure everything else is good is a hardware diagnostics test. You can try running a hardware diagnostics test (One of the first things I did on my new MBP I got 3 weeks ago) by putting in the first apple installer CD and then booting up while holding D.

  • How to fix stuck/dead pixel on my iPad 2

I just got an iPad 2 and I found out that there is a stuck/dead pixel on the screen. I thought that I could ignore it at the beginning but it just gets too annoying and it grabs my eye when doing anything. So I need to fix it. But first I need to know is it dead or stuck.
On some colors it appeared in two different colors, it changes each time I look at it from different position.
So on white : blue and red
On black : it does not appear
On purple : red and blue
On red : blue and red (so it does not appear)
On blue : black and blue
I hope I gave enough information. Waiting for your help...
P.S. I entered on YouTube and saw a video called stuck pixel fixer or something like that and I opened it for like three minutes each day for about three days now, and it did not fix it, do I need to play it for a specific time? Or do I need something else?

there is an app (cant remeber the name sorry) but it it basical flix up soild images of colour (red, blue, yellow ect...) and it did it at a speed to try and shake the pixel into working agian, sorry i cant remember the name....but its sumit like screen cleaner or sumit like that.
