Three Monitor Save, Two Monitor Hang- CS6

I have three monitors running from my Dell M6600 at work.  I save a Premiere Project with any panel open on the third monitor. Then take my computer home where I only have two monitors and open the project file, Premiere hangs.  It will never launch the application fully.  It opens to the point where it would normally load project data, and then hangs.
As a workarround I have begun making sure I save the project with all panels on two screens.  However, if I forget then the only solution I have is to go to work to open the project.  (Or get a third monitor at home...)
I would love to be able to edit the project XML and remove or reset the panel layout.  Anyone else experiencing this issue?  or know how to "hack/workaround" the project file?

Jim Simon wrote:
I don't think that's correct.  Each project loads with the last saved window arrangement, named or not.  So he'll need to rearrange the windows before saving at work (or get that third monitor at home).
I'm just going by the help file:
http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html
"If a project saved with a custom workspace is opened on another system, the application looks for a workspace with a matching name. If it can’t find a match (or the monitor configuration doesn’t match), it uses the current local workspace."
But like I said, I haven't tested it out myself.

  • Bridge auto expands from one monitor to two when accessing folders

When I try to rename a folder Bridge auto expands from one monitor to two monitors and doesn't let me change the name. If I try to delete a photo it auto expands, lets me delete the photo but remains expanded across two monitors. This is a new experience I have had Bridge CC for about a year and this activity started on Friday. How do I prevent Bridge from automatically expanding across the two monitors?

I had the same problem and it was driving me nuts.  Thanks to conradchavez.com Blog.
Multiple displays: If you put panels (including the Tools panel) on a secondary display and then switch applications, those panels may snap back to the primary display when you switch back. To avoid this, open System Preferences, click Mission Control, and turn off Displays Have Separate Spaces. Mavericks ships with that option on, so if you want to position Adobe application panels and windows on multiple displays you should turn off that option.
You will have to log out before it works.  It worked for me.
    Tankyou very mutch!!!!
    Now is all perfectly funzionally!!!!
    Ri- Tankyou!!!

  • Long video sessions on two monitors

I am having three issues capturing long training sessions and teleconferences. They run 5-8 hours in length and have no natural breaking point. I have tried to capture them in one session and, without fail, the program crashes before it can even complete finalizing. It always terminates with a message about bad data or insufficient disk space (it’s being save to a blank 4Tb drive). So, apparently, saving the whole conference won’t work. So, I decided I would run two instances of Adobe Captivate. I would run one for one hour, then start the second. Once the second started, I’d terminate the first, it would finalize, then I’d save it, close it, and restart a third instance. I would continue this cycle until the conference ended and finish with a pile of slightly overlapping, slightly longer than one hour sessions and then edit and splice them together post production.
Doing this give me the three problems. First, I am working on a two monitor system. Once a screen capture is started, it appears Adobe takes control of the monitors. The capture monitor becomes primary and everything, and I mean everything, pops up in the middle of the capture screen first which destroys the integrity of the recording. How do I turn off that feature so I can work on the other monitor and have nothing interrupt the recording? Second problem, as soon as you stop a Captivate session, it finalizes the recording. Once the finalization completes, two things happen: 1) it immediately starts auto playback, including audio, in full screen mode, and 2) the started instance after hitting escape (Windows machine) to stop, defaults to an instance of Captivate which is now covering the recording screen even though the instance was started in the non-recording screen. This gives me the pleasure of not only polluting the screen with pop-ups in the middle of the recording, but now adds unwanted audio to the capture as everything coming over the sound card is captured. So, how do I reprogram this behavior to go away so it just finalizes and saves, silently and quietly until I am done for the day and can end my day and begin post production work?
So, I guess that’s four questions: 1) How can I record 8 hours at once, 2) how can I make the recording monitor not be the primary screen for the computer, 3) how can I get Captivate to not Auto play after finalizing and 4) how do I get the instance and recording controls to stay on the working monitor and not the recording monitor during before, during, and after a recording starts?
This happens in “Application capture”, “Window Capture” and “Region Capture” and it doesn’t matter which monitor I use for recording and which for working. They are not playing well together. I’ve even tried to make the computer sterile so it does nothing else but this and do all my work on another machine, but Captivate itself interferes with it working because of its behavior in finalizing. Right now the only way to overcome the behavior that I can see is to capture the whole session in one long video and leave the machine untouched during the recording, but the machine can’t take those long videos. Anyone got any help they can provide?
    ---Mike

    Hi there
WRT "Funny, that's not what the literature says", can you please provide us with a pointer to exactly what you are referring to?
Personally, I think what you are hitting is some sort of "file size" limitation. Heck, even when you look at commercial DVD structure, you will notice that there are several VOB files. I think the split generally occurs at 2GB. So there is probably some limitation there.
FWIW, Captivate isn't alone with this capture issue. I use TechSmith Camtasia Studio as well as Captivate and I also participate in their forums. I notice similar reports for Camtasia WRT the problems trying to record those very lengthy sessions. And for the finalizing bit, Captivate and Camtasia Studio are similar creatures. In fact, you would be hard pressed to look at the finalizing part before you edit to know exactly which application you were actually using!
    Cheers...Rick

  • Nvidia, two monitors, both load, opens all programs on first screen

    Hey all,
I have an nvidia GE force 9400GT and using two monitors.
In awesome wm, i get two different screens, almost like two computers shareing a keyboard.
However, in gnome, i get almost the same, but not quite. My wallpaper stretches across both screens, and if i open a program in either screen, it will only load in the first screen,
I don't want one large desktop spread over two monitors, would much rather have two seperate screens.
    Am using the nvidia-173xx package
    appreciate any advice. thanks

I have two monitors as well. What I am doing is running a separate X server on every screen. This behavior can easily be configured in the nvidia-settings application, on the "X Server Display Configuration" tab. Just press "Configure" and you are prompted for three options. Choose "Separate X screen". Then click OK, "Save to X Configuration File" and restart your X.
What you should note when you restart your X is that your window manger doesn't probably load on the secondary screen without further configuration. I have the following two lines on my .xinitrc file which loads Openbox to both of my screens (which you can use as reference):
    DISPLAY=:0.0 exec openbox-session &
    DISPLAY=:0.1 exec openbox

  • How to connect two monitors using macbook pro?

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro through which I want to extend the displays to two individual monitors.
The two monitors should show two different windows which is opened through my macbook.
I have observed that macbook has only one mini display port through which I connect to HDMI or to DVI ports in monitor.
So how do I connect another monitor source to my macbook, which ports can help in this situation?
The monitors I have which can supports HDMI,DVI,VGA and DP ports.
Could anyone help me on this issue.
    Thanks.

You can use a USB 2.0/3.0 to HDMI/DVI interface.  You might also consder Thundebolt to HDMI/DVI.
The MBP 13" will support three screens (two external) and the MBP 15" will support four screen (three external).

  • How can i use two monitors in my application?

    Hello,
    Background
I have a dual monitor card and two monitors which I want to use in my LabView application. The application gathers data from a complex sensor and calculates a number of results which need to be displayed graphically, this happens every 10 seconds or so. There is an awful lot of graphs which may be needed to be seen at some time but not routinely. The idea is that one monitor will display all the standard routinely displayed things and will not have any user input whilst the second monitor will display a tab control which has all the other graphs pickable.
    Question
What I want to know is how I can programmatically tell labVIEW to put one vi up in one monitor and another vi in the other. I would then have them both maximised (which I know how to do). I would rather have the monitors set up as individual and that way I could keep the windows control bar on one monitor only. Thus one monitor would be a true user interface and the other simply a display.
Basically how do I tell LabVIEW to use one monitor for a specific vi and not the other.
The card I have is a matrox p650. Any comments would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Kevin

    Hallo,
with new version of LV its more easy, but it also hasn't any troubles with LabVIEW 6.x or 7.x.
Especially with Matrox P650 you will get no any problems (we using
exactly this card together with G550 and our application supported
three monitors at the same time.).
I recommend to you following sequence:
    - After installing driver turn on option for supporting different
resoluton on different monitors. As result you will get two absolutely
    separate monitors.
    - In Windows define which one is primary and which one is secondary.
(On primary monitor located taskbar and all messages dialog boxes will
    appear.).
    - Arrange secondary monitor in display properties - where he located (left from primary, or right)
    - In your VI (which must appear on second monitor) use
FrontPanel.PanelBounds Property Node for positioning. You must set four
values for two corners. Easiest way to found right values is following:
read this property node in while loop and put indicator on front panel.
Then run VI, drag front panel onto second monitor and resize if
necessary, and then you will see right values for PanelBounds. You can
write this property node programmatically in run-time too.
    hope it help,
    good luck.

  • How do I get InDesign to open on the second monitor of a two-monitor system?

My computer is connected to two identical monitors. I use them in extended mode. Monitor 1 includes my WIndows desktop; Monitor 2 does not
I want to open my InDesign files on "Monitor 2" which does NOT have impediments like a taskbar that wants to pop up.
By default, InDesign CS6 opens on Monitor 1, the one with the desktop. How do I change that setting?

Exactly what Bob Levine said. Can confirm, running a two monitor display here.

  • How do I re-establish a single virtual monitor across two 30" screens?

How do I re-establish a single virtual monitor across two 30" screens?
The fact that the screens are now separate with two menu bars, and the inability for images to appear across both of them is a great inconvenience to me. I have used this system since the dual monitors first became available and do not want to loose.
While rearranging my desk top of current files, I seem to have jumping folders that flt to random places
Thank for bailing me out on this!

I've been looking for the same answer .. I stopped by local Apple store - Genius - he don't know
3 monitors here .. and agree - it's an extreme irritant that when a window is across two monitors part of it disappears.
Have Adobe Bridge catalog listing (and Filter, Collection, Keyword, Dates) on one monitor and main viewing window part on center monitor - no more.
Supper long spread sheet across all three monitors - no more.
Multiple Menu bars are irritating to use.

  • Folio 9470m notebook with two monitors

Hi all,  I want to use my Folio 9740m notebook with 3 independent display (Built-in display and two external monitor HP L1750). I tried to connect direct to notebook and docking station but it's not working. Only two displays are working at same time. Is it possible to use with 3 display (Intel HD graphics 4000 can do that)? Thanks for your help. Greg

I've not been able to get 3 indpendent monitors running either.  I suspect it may have to do with the high resolutions of thw two monitors.  Has anyone tried using lower resolution settings for three monitors (didn't work for me)? On another note, using the single displayport only allows for a "stretched" desktop environment.  In order to get two independent desktops we had to use one monitor on the displayport in the back of the docking station of the 9470m and use the 2nd monitor on the side displayport which is attached to the laptop itself. This allows you to run two indendent desktops on each of the two monitors without having to get that "Daisy chained" effect where your desktop is just stretched (i.e. when you maximize a window it stretches across both monitors).
The Folio only supports Dual Displayport 1.2 technology which only allows the daisy chain monitors and doesn't support multiple independent desktops, thus your only option is to get one big wide desktop if you connect multiple monitors to a single displayport. I'd love to get a solution to allow me to use two monitors plus the built-in display!  Any ideas??

  • Viewing preview slideshow on two monitors

When I have two monitors working at the same time (20" apple flat + my 12" powerbook I have this problem: i go to view a slideshow from preview, nothing appears but a blank black screen. When I press the index sheet button, all the pictures appear in the index format clearly visible. I then press a picture from the index sheet and the selected photo zooms in to fill the screen where for a short moment ( say 1 second ) it stays before disappearing again to the black screen. Could anyone be so kind to let me know how to rectify this problem. But when I just use the powerbook to use preview's slideshow, it works. Please does any one know what the problem is here, and if there is a solution?

    Sorry if I was unclear.
Like the screen saver, I wish to play my slideshow on 2 monitors simultaneously (not either/or, one at a time, as your suggestion does).
Screen saver alternates between my 2 monitors, zooming and panning à la the Ken Burns effect. With hundreds of pics, it can go through them in half the time, without having to cut the individual slide duration in half.
I then go to iTunes separately to start a playlist playing.
It appears that when Aperture says that it can make use of 2 monitors, it's only one at a time. I use shift-s to create a quick slideshow that I show to customers; I have to hem-and-haw when they ask, "Why don't you show it on both monitors? Even Screen Saver can do that. I thought Aperture was a pro application."

  • Use of Two monitors

I have just upgraded my PC and bought two HP monitors.  The PC spec said it could support up to three monitors.  What I am not sure about is how exactly to set up the two monitors: - I.e. what ports to use in the rear of the PC.  I have one HDMI cable but it only seems to fit one of the ports - yet there are 3 others at the rear of the PC;- It sounds like a silly question, but there are 3 other larger ports at the rear of the computer, are those another kind of HDMI port.  The Monitors I have bought HP Pavilion 23xw will take VGA and HDMI ( the ports at the back are labled HDMI 1 and HDMI 2). As indicated, it might sound like a very silly question, but I cant find any online help to detail the ports at the rear of my graphics card.

Hi, It actually has 3 Display ports, 1 HDMI port and 1 DVI port:    http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04714105 You can use 1 Display port and 1 HDMI port or 1 HDMI port and 1 DVI port depending on which port do you have on your monitor. This video card can connect up to 4 monitors. Note: Info for Display Port (DP)    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort Regards.

  • Two Computers / Two Monitors

I have a Power Mac G4 and one of the early Mac Mini's. Sadly, still in the dark ages with VGA monitors. I have a dual monitor setup on the G4 that comes in handy for Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.
I would like to consolidate, and lose the monitor on the Mac Mini. Is there someway I can use the dual monitor setup for both computers with some kind of A-B switch? Any ideas where I might find something like this?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Gary,
There are many KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse) solutions available for PC. Some work on USB, rather than Serial Bus input devices and so should work on Mac, although I think they're nearly all VGA connections for video.
Been a few years since I looked, so I'm sure there must be some out there that are now USB and DVI. Can't remember the other TLA (three letter acronym), other than KVM that is used for these boxes), someone else will know and post.
The really hard part is finding one with two video ports for each switch, but I'm not sure that you actually want to try to drive two monitors off the Mac Mini. It would definitely be easier to run one monitor off the ADC on the PMG4 MDD and share the other monitor between the MDD and the Mac Mini, so just requiring the one DVI port on each switch.
Even finding a KVM supporting two video sockets on each switch would have to have one DVI and one ADC for the MDD.
A good KVM (or the other TLA) would make sure the MDD wouldn't get upset by switching away the DVI video connection.
Google is your friend. All I can say is never buy Belkin, it's tat, and make sure you read a good few customer reviews (not a few good) before choosing which to buy. Amazon, UK and US is good for reviews.

  • 3d Acceleration on two monitors with nvidia?

Is there any way to get two monitors that are running on the same pc and kernel BOTH be 3d accelerated in X?
Like two instances of X or two instances of the WM...or...something?  I have an nvidia card for both of my monitors and would like both accelerated...
Is this possible?  Can I use the "nvidia" (as opposed to "nv") driver for both?
I'm unclear on this issue, any help would be appreciated.

I finally had a chance to do some more exploration.
Currently, I've got two fluxboxes running across my monitors (no xinerama right now).  The only thing I don't like is that I still can't get the "nvidia" driver to work for both displays.
Strangely enough, when I try to use the "nvidia" module for both, upon "startx" both monitors go black and ctl + alt + backspace won't kill X, I have to hit the reset button.
Here is the log generated after both monitors going blank.  Any help would be very appreciated:
<----------I editted a few lines out here and there in the log, due to the forums truncating the message.  I editted in particular the long series of line starting with NV or NVIDIA and then a bunch of resolutionm combos.  let me know if there is something particular you want me to post. ---------->

  • Two Monitors cause crashes in 10.4.7?

I remember reading a Macintouch article a couple months ago stating that two monitor systems crash in 10.4.7 and that this was a "known issue."
Whether my recollection is correct or not, I had three or more mysterious crashes after updating to 10.4.7. This resulted in my going back to 10.4.6, which has solved the problem.
I have two questions: 1) Is this indeed a known issue, and 2) is there a way for me to run 10.4.7 with two monitors with no monitor-related crashes?
    Thanks a lot.

I don't recall the article but I can say that I've been running my dualie G5 with two displays and I'm updated to 10.4.7. I also often run my MacBook with an external display or projector. I've not seen a kernel panic on my MacBook ever and I can't remember the last time I've seen a kernel panic on my G5. In fact, I'm not sure if I ever have...I've owned it about 18 months now.
