Three party AV chat question: is Mac to Mac to PC possible?
I've got a MacBook Pro with iChat AV 3 which I've used to do a three party AV chat session with appleu3test01 and appleu3test02 (or whatever the names of the test Apple AV lines are).
I'd like to be able to do a three party AV chat session with my mother and my sister.
My Mom has an iBook running OS 10.3.9 with the old version of iChat. I think I can convince her to upgrade to OS 10.4 so that she can do her part in the three party AV chat.
My sister has a PC and uses Trillian Pro. Does anyone know of some software that will let PC users chat with Mac/iChat users that supports the three party AV chat?

Three way conferences between macs and PC's are not possible with iChat, AIM or Trillian. Your mother could participate if she upgraded to 10.4 Tiger.
However, Sightspeed claims to offer multi-person conferences between mac's and pc's. http://www.sightspeed.com/

My wife has been having problems with Safari, and many third party software and malware programs infecting her Mac Book Pro. I have tried to reset Safari but it keeps coming back, taking over Safari, changing defaults, start pages, and search engines, Etc.
Is it safe to use programs like MacKeeper, who keeps send my wife's computer message and alerts, or should I just wipe the drive and start over?

That was my question, I recommend intalar MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard, but would have to format the MAC to have bluetooth, but I ended up installing snow leopard and windows 20011. I'll install Windows 2011 with the same key? Why does the snow leopard has not fixed the bluetooth?Download and install this update combo. May be slightly simple question from a new Mac user: Why can't I quit safari? I cannot quit it from top menu bar neither to do it from dock? All other apps are working normally.
Or you can actived the right button on your magic mouse and click on they icon in the dock. then you select "stop" and it's out of your dock.

It depends on what country you're in and whether or not they're still available in the iTunes Store. Some purchased movies and all rentals won't be available.

BBM group chat question - from time to time, additional chats show up in our group that have no messages in them. When someone posts in one, the whole group sees it and the admins can delete it, but otherwise they tend to be localized to one or two members and we can't remove them. Is there a way for a non-admin to get rid of one of these chats? My understanding is that if I had started it that I'd be able to delete it but since I'm not the creator I don't have this option. Thanks.

Best Mac-to-Mac video chat (AIM or .Mac)
I have a Core Duo Mac mini w/ an iSight. My parents will be getting a Macbook or Macbook Pro.
I currently have a .Mac account. My question is, do my parents need to sign up for a .Mac account and pay $99 just to use iChat video converencing with me?
They have an AIM account already, can they just use that with iChat on their new Mac?
And for Mac-to-Mac video converencing, does it matter?Brian
Your parents can either use their existing AIM screen name, as suggested by the first respondent. Or they can take out a trial .mac account and the screen name will still work after the trial expires (but not the other .mac services).

Folder with question mark and smiling mac face at start up
After I was importing some video today, shut down G5 and on start up I get the folder with question mark and smiling mac face.
Any help?
Power Mac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.8)Boot from a drive with Disk Warrior 4, or your emergency boot drive (FW or alternate) or if you lack that, use single user mode to run fsck command. The last option would be your Tiger DVD but that may be 10.4.3 or earlier and not your best.
I say that because it seems like it was more than just needing to reset the startup disk preference and may have a corrupt directory. It shutdown smoothly and fully?
At the least, using the OPTION key and SHIFT key for Safe Boot. My recollection of trying to do both is that it won't. You can do one or the other, but not both. So running FSCK is just insurance to repair the directory. -
Hello, can someone help me: my eMac G4 700 MHz. I can not boot it. If he starts appears on the screen, only a small "folder with a question mark." The Mac was not used 1 year.

If the internal drive shows up, it's the PRAM battery.
If it doesn't, insert a compatible Mac OS 9 or X install disk, click the button with the circular arrow, and either repair the internal drive or install a new OS on it. If it doesn't show up in Disk First Aid(9) or the Disk Utility(X), it's either not plugged in or needs to be replaced.

Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow your Mac down.
Click your Apple menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.

What is the video quality loss going Mac to PC vs Mac to Mac?
Here's the deal, my wife is in the hospital and forced to miss her daughters wedding. I'm trying to sort out an iChat from Louisiana to Texas so she can watch the wedding live and ideally let her daughter see her mom during the ceremony. I've not been able to establish an ichat link into the hospital due to the 'does not reply' demon. So I know its a port issue but this huge hospital is PC only, totally mac ignorant but super willing to put a hot shot PC in my wifes room. My question is what am I giving up by not going mac to mac and giving in on a PC at the receiving end? Are the benefits of the h264 codec only available on the mac to mac solution? Will the video received on the PC be smooth or choppy? What about in a full screen mode? (I guess AIM Trillion is the only option for that)
I'll be transmitting using a G4 Powerbook, 10.4.6, 256mgb ram. iChat 3. I'll be shooting with a digital video camera with firewire output. I've tested that, it all works fine in recent chats with other macs. I'll be sending over Earthlink DSL line, 256kbps up/3mgbs download. The Hospitals bandwidth is T-1 huge so not a problem. I'm just afraid I'm not going to get them to sort out the issues for a mac and will have to give in to a PC.

iChat makes hardware and connection speed checks as it starts up.
This gives you the framerate and bit rate duirng a call.
Lets say that your processor gives your iChat 15 fps
This will be the rate that you will then see to a another Mac.
The same computer is likely to get 10 frames per sec to a PC.
This is some part due to the PC putting a fair amout of effort into producing a clear detailed pic.
On some PCs this setting for the video pic is so high that the audio will drop out completely.
The cure is to bring the PC preview to the front (tabs)
Then click on the small icon that appears to the right and adjusting the slider that appears to the left.
This will incease the frame rate and bit rate from the PC. It makes the video look smoother although the actual quality has gone down (you may not be able to judge this quality difference by eye)
As general rule you will get about 2/3rds of the normal Mac to Mac framerate shown in the Connection Doctor. It also seems to take about 50% more Connection speed to get the same quality video.
So Mac to Mac min is 100Kbps where as Mac to PC will need about 150kbps.
The quality drop from 15 frames a sec to 10 frames a sec does make the video generally more blocky but does also depend a fair bit on the processor power of the PC and the camera used.
I know that sounds a little vague but there are really many variables that can be a factor.

I can't empty the trash I have three different versions of Quicken Essentials that should have been deleted and also some iskysoft apps [two ]. I tries to delete them but I always get a -8003 error. I ve tried using the terminal with both the sudo an
