Thumbnail from middle of video being added upon export

FCP 7
OS:  10.7.5
I've been using the same settings on FCP for years.  no updates to either my OS or FCP.  no settings changes.  but now when I export the video (using Squeeze-again, same settings as before) - an image from the middle of the video is going to the first frame of my video - looks like it's some sort of thumbnail.
here is a sample.
http://web29.streamhoster.com/pascalevdb/mind_body_premier_mp4/meditation_stretc h_2.mp4
the image of woman before the logo is NOT in my sequence.
any ideas?

Not that I doubt you, but just want to verify - on your sequence you have clicked on the timeline and typed the Home key to see if there is a frame of video hiding there at the very first frame of the sequence?
When you export the video for Squeeze, are you doing a self-contained export? Or are you sending it to Squeeze from the timeline?
If you do a Without Conversion, Self Contained QuickTime export from your timeline, is the frame still there?

  • Copyright information erroneously added upon export

When I export an image with no copyright data from Lightroom 3, copyright information is being applied from one of my metadata templates. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?

So, I just ran 4 tests. I had thought that the error didn't occur when I right-clicked the image and selected the export preset directly, but it does. The image I used in these tests is a DNG file with all fields listed in my 1:04pm post above removed, the Created field changed to another name and Copyright Status field set to unknown. Here are my tests and the results:
Using "Export" Button on Library Panel -- Selected the image and clicked Export from the left library panel. Used an export preset and saved the file to a drop folder on the same external drive and synchronized the folder. The error occurs (ie, all fields removed remain blank with the exeption of the Copyright field, which is repopulated with my copyright data).
Right-Clicking and Selecting Export Preset Directly -- Selected the image, right clicked and directly selected the export preset used in Test 1 above. Saved the file to a drop folder on the same external drive and synchronized the folder. The same error occurs.
Right-Clicking and Selecting Export Dialog Box and then Selecting Export Preset -- Selected the image, right clicked and selected "Export...". Selected the export preset used in Test 1 above, saved the file to a drop folder on the same external drive and synchronized the folder. The same error occurs.
Explicit Import: Selected the image and clicked Export from the left library panel. Used the same export preset used in Test 1 above and saved the file to my desktop. Imported this file into LR3 with a Metadata Preset set to "none." The same error occurs.
Since these tests, I have replicated the problem with multiple images (including a scan) using multiple export presets. Same error (ie, all fields removed remain blank with the exeption of the Copyright field, which is repopulated with my copyright data) occurs every single time.

  • How to stop email addresses from being added to contacts

hofw do you stop email addresses from sent emails from being added automatically to contacts?

No. They are not being created by the phone. They are being created by your mail system, whether that is Exchange, Yahoo, Google, etc. They all have settings to automatically create contacts from people you correspond with. There is no setting on the phone to control this. Check the settings for your mail account with or talk to your IT department.

  • Thumbnails from Video without picture

    Hi
I have a problem on the organizer.
All the thumbnails from video are without any pictures, even when I do refresh the thumbnails.
This does not happen in Premiere Elements where i get a picture in the thumbnails from every video.
    Why?
    Thank you for helping me

Here is how to get cameras out of the equation.
I created five video files out of Prpro CS3 and PRE7, all using the same source materiall.  The output was an H264 and an MPEG2 out of each program, and a WMV out of prpro.
All five files played fine in WMP, so there are codecs on the system.  PRE7 and Prpro did not complain about missing codecs.
Then I loaded them all into my PSE7 organizer to see what I got for thumbnails and playability.
Result: only saw thumbnails for the wmv file; nothing for H264 and nothing for MPEG2.  WMV played fine, and the others played but with really crappy quality.
Also tried the same thing with PSE8 trial and got the same result.
Previous feedback from Adobe has suggested that this problem is due to missing codecs, but no information was provided as to which codecs would solve the problem.  WMP, PRE7 and Prpro are all happy with the codecs they have, why isn't PSE?  By the way, windows explorer also shows all the thumbnails for all the files.  If only PSE could reproduce what windows already does!!
I repeated the experiment with several variations of H264 and MPEG2 and got the same results.  Files directly from my cameras produce more or less the same result: those that put out MPEG or H264 (camcorders) show no thumbnails and those that put out MOV or AVI (still cameras with movie function) do show thumbnails.
That sounds like a lot of effort to prove a point, but an organizer that does not show thumbnails is useless as an organizer.  Why would I want the scene analyzer in PSE8 when I can't see the additional thumbnails for the scenes??
This was all done on Win 7 x64.

  • Prevent attachments from being added to Meetings

Is there a way to block attachments from being added to meetings?

This won't block them all, but it will block any larger than 1 byte:
New-TransportRule -Name <meaningful name> -MessageTypeMatches 'Calendaring' -AttachmentSizeOver 1 -RejectMessageReasonText 'Attachments are not allowed on Meetings' -RejectMessageEnhancedStatusCode '5.7.1'
The -MessageTypeMatches and -AttachmentSizeOver are anded together so both need to be valid.  I'd test this a few times before I put it into production, though.

  • Proof Sheet Style Thumbnails from videos.. How to..??

Sorry if this is off topic. Does anyone know of a Mac program that can make a proof-sheet-like image from a video file? Like a large image with thumbnails from the video?
Don't know of one that will create such a consolidated output sheet, but QT Pro (or applications accessing QT export capabilities) can create a sequence of video frames which can then the manipulated (manually sized and laid out) by other applications.

This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. We are all visitors here.
Just a bit of history....back in the days of Premiere Elements 4, you could set a "poster frame" in what was called the Project area. You did this by right clicking a blank area there and, from the drop down menu that appeared, selecting View/Preview Area, and using the poster frame feature there.
As I said, when a video imports into Premiere Elements, the thumbnail of the import has been presenting as the first frame of the video. With this Preview area "poster frame" option, you could set the video's thumbnail in the Project area so that the first frame was another frame in the video. But, this "perk" was restricted to thumbnails of the video in Project area.
If you exported to file with the first frame modified video, the export's thumbnail in Windows Explorer would present with other than the real first frame or the poster frame as the first frame.
Also, in more recent versions, I have observed that the export to file does not display the real first frame of the video in Windows Explorer. Seems random, but I have not kept track.
And, remember, at the onset I wrote
As far as I have ever seen, Premiere Elements Windows uses the first frame of the video for its thumbnail in the program.
I know of no way within Premiere Elements to control what the program opts to do in this matter. In some compatibility
issues, it opts to give no image but a generic one.
I did not say that you can expect to have the Premiere Elements' export file's thumbnail in Windows displaying with its real first frame. And, the more you get into this, depending on the versions, more details need to be added to my comment about "...first frame of video for its thumbnail in the program..."
I would have to look into all this further to get perspective on the contributing factors.
    ATR
Add On...The Poster Frame feature appeared in versions 4, 7, 8, and 9 by my count.

  • Is there a solution for videos being lost?

I use Keynote 09 to make presentations for my Terrorism and homeland security class at college, and my buddy uses a pc with powerpoint. when I send him a build as a ppt export, he gets it fine, except the videos. Same thing when he re-adds the video at his end, and I import it into keynote. videos are gone. I cannot do the export to quicktime, since the college uses windows format, and they do not have Macs there. is there a way to export the videos inside the keynote in a format that windows will recognize? my buddy and I are about to go crazy here.

the problem lies with the college not using quicktime on their computers. In other words, I have to use a format that will play natively in powerpoint for windows. My friend, Ron, has quicktime installed, but the videos still will not play. I have contacted apple customer support, and he gave me some ideas as to why this is occurring. If I am not mistaken, mpeg-4 should play nicely with keynote and powerpoint, but this doesn't seem to be working. The program seems to be "forgetting" where it stuck the video files, and ends up sending a link to the videos to the last drive they were on. In other words, when I send the file to him, the video files in the presentation are linked inside the keynote-to-powerpoint file to MY drive, and not sent to him. For example, Instead of a file that should be, say, 30mb, it ends up being less than 5mb. So, when he opens up the powerpoint on his end, all the slides are there, content included, except video, which is now just a link to where the files "lived" on my drive, which, naturally, his powerpoint does not have access to.
The weird thing is this, If he sends it to me, Keynote opens up everything but the videos, which Keynote tells me are just links to where they "lived" on his drive. On a side note, I have Office for Mac 2004 installed, and it, too, fails to open the powerpoint. I downloaded the patch that enables it to open the powerpoint, but alas, the videos will not open in Powerpoint for Mac 2004 either. I cannot tell him how to embed the videos on powerpoint, but I can say that I have all appropriate boxes checked in the SAVE AS....powerpoint dropdown in Keynote. I may have to make a permanent place on my drive to put the videos, then export the presentation as a zip file with videos included. I don't know, this is just guessing on my part. Anything to prevent Keynote from "forgetting" where the videos are supposed to be, and that it should include them in the slide......
If you have read this far, and understand my generalizations, does this make sense to you? Is there some kind of solution to this? I am sure I am not the only Keynote user with the issue of lost videos upon export into Powerpoint, and everyone could benefit by a solution or workaround.
    Thank you.

  • Script for making random thumbnails from single image

    Hi all,
I need something like a hundred different thumbnails from each image in a series of images, that is, hundred random sections of the same image, saved in a folder as jpg,  and i was hoping that i could find a script for this.
What the script has to do is:
select the size of the crop (this would also be the dimensions of the thumbnail saved)
rotate crop selection in a random orientation and place the crop randomly on the canvas
save the image as a jpg in a folder
    return to original image,
repeat process x times before quitting script.
I dont think this should be to difficult to make a script for, but unfortunately i don´t know how to code.
Is there anybody that could help me with this?
This would save me a lot of time!

You can give this a try:
    // create copies with pseudo random clipped and rotated parts of image;
    // thanks to xbytor;

    #target photoshop

  • All of a sudden (video) files added to my iTunes library after a certain date aren't playable on other devices.

    hello!
All of a sudden I have a weird issue with playing video-files added to my iTunes library after a specific date.
This is the situation so far:
I encode the video for iTunes with the same settings for the last 3 years. I know these vids play on all my devices. AppleTV & iPad. All of a sudden videos added to my library after the 8th of september aren't playable on my AppleTV and iPad. I can play them directly in iTunes and by accessing them directly via the finder and quicktime.
    The following errors occur:
When I pull the video from iTunes on my AppleTV.. the video simply doesn't play.
When I pull the video from iTunes on my iPad I get a message that the file can't be found.
When I push the video from iTunes to the AppleTV using airplay I get a message that there has occured an error while connecting to the AirPlay-device "Apple TV". The necesary file could not be found. In addition when the AppleTV is switched off it doesn't turn on doing this, suggesting that there is something missing on my mac itself.
All the above errors aren't popping up when I choose a video that has been put in my library before the 9th of september. Then everything works as expected.
    This is what I tried:
Turning off and on home sharing on all devices including the mac.
Logging in wiht a different apple ID though using the same ID as before.
I created a new iTunes library and populated with a video that was added after the 8th of september and one that was added before the 9th of september. Surprisingly the older one played and not the newer one.. while they both used the same encoding settings. The new library was locally on my mac as my original library is on a NAS.
I encode my videos with Quicktime 7 Pro using the following settings:
H.264 (current frame rate, key-frames:automatic, re-order frames, automatic bitsize)
    Medium Quality
    Multi-pass
current resolution (which is always 1280 X 720)
    AAC sound
    44.100 kHz
    128kbps
I'm using the Mountain lion 10.8.2 and iTunes 10.7 Mountain lion got updated a few days after 19th of september and iTunes i think as well. Both versions were released after this issue seemed to pop up.
I also have two video-files encoded on the same day with the same settings that dragged into the iTunes library on the 9th of september. One works.. the other doesn't.
So I wonder if there is somebody out there that can tell me what might have happened here and how I could fix this issue.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Seraphiel07.
I have a very similar issue. Hardware involved:
Apple MacMini (Mid 2011) - OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple TV (3rd Generation). Home Sharing (access) enabled.
Apple MacBook Pro (15" Mid-2009). OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple iPad 2 (Wifi only). iOS 6
    Apple iPhone 4S. iOS 6
    All connected through:
Apple Time Capsule 8.0211n (4th Gen)
I have an iTunes library on the MacBook Pro, shared over "Home Sharing" and another (duplicate content, different library name) iTunes library on my MacMini, which is also accessed through the Apple TV.
All software is current (as of Sep 26th).
All movies are iTunes purchases. 80 in total.
All files are purchased (and home shared) under one account.
My last two iTunes purchases both HD movies on 09/17/2012 and 09/05/2012 refuse to appear on any device accessing either of the two Libraries over Home Sharing. It should be noted that every other movie (the other 78) all show up and play correctly. I therefore know it is not an issue with connectivity, otherwise I would see zero movies available.
    I have:
    1. Removed all content from each Library and re-added
    2. Upgraded the OS on the MacMini 10.8.2
    3. Tested viewing the two missing movies on other Apple devices and no luck.
    4. Turn home sharing on and off within iTunes and also on each device.
It would appear to me that the issue is with the files themselves, rather than the devices as different devices and different versions have been tested.
    All comments welcome.

  • I keep getting the message on iTunes that my Shuffle (which is current on updates) needs to be restored.  It is showing up in devices, but when I try to add songs to it, I don't get the little progress bar showing me that the song is being added. ***?

I updated to the new iTunes last week.  Today I plugged in my 4th generation Shuffle to add some new songs.  The shuffle appears in Devices, but when I try to add songs, I'm not getting the progress bar at the top of the screen, so I'm assuming the song isn't being added.  I tried ejecting the Shuffle and plugging it in again, and I got a message that my iPod needed to be restored before it could be used with iTunes -- even though the screen also said the Shuffle is up to date on the software. I finally gave in and restored it, but I continue to get the same message.  When I eject the iPod and try to play it now, I'm getting nothing, and when it is connected to the usb port, the orange light is continually flashing.  I've been trying to figure this out for about 3 hours now, so if anyone could help me, I'd be eternally grateful!

The 1st and 2nd gen shuffles do not have an automatic syncing mode, like later shuffles and the "big" iPods.  It is maintained manually (or by using the Autofill feature).
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The shuffle appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES, when connected.
To add songs to the shuffle...  Show a list of songs in the iTunes window.  For example, you can select Music under LIBRARY (in the sidebar) to show your complete iTunes music library list.  Select a song and drag it to the shuffle in the sidebar.  You can do this with more than one song selected.  Alternately, select the song(s), right-click the selection, and choose the command to Add to Playlist -> [name of iPod].
To remove songs from the shuffle...  Select the shuffle in the sidebar.  To the right, it's Settings screen is shown.  Toward the top, where it says Settings, click on On This iPod (to the right).  The list of songs on the shuffle is shown below.  Select the song you want to remove and press Delete on the keyboard.  You can do this with more than one song selected.
NOTE:  At the bottom of the shuffle's list of songs, there are controls for the Autofill feature.  You can also use Autofill to fill your shuffle from your music library or from a specific playlist.
