Thumbnail instead of icon.

How can I get a thumbnail picture to identify each video clip on the media screen rather than the generic icon of a clip of film?

Never be intimidated by Premiere Elements.
When I first got into "Elements" over ten years ago (never been there and done that ever before), I did that to find a way to repair a damaged photo of my late brother-in-law. Enter Photoshop Elements 3.0 into my life. Then that lured me into Premiere Elements 2.0. Then I got really worried and was overwhelmed "What have I gotten myself into?" I have never regretted the stick-to-it-tiveness approach and learning from whatever free sources I could find using large doses of exploration and experimentation and not always accepting the pat one line answers.
Lots to explore freely

  • Viewing thumbnails instead of icons

I have CS4 Design Premium incl Photoshop CS4, and also Lightroom 2.6, both 64 bit. Operating system Win7 64 bit. Images taken in RAW format on a Nikon D90. I have downloaded the PS CS4 patch to open and work with Nikon RAW format and I can open the files (NEF Files) in both PS and LR. However I can only see the files as icons in my windows folders and pictures library and not thumbnails. JPEG's view OK as thumbnals. Can anyone help as my library of images is growing and without thumbnails I find it difficult to get to a particular file when I need to.

True although the OP is referring to NEF files.

  • Strange behavior - icon thumbnail instead of image - CC@OSX10.10

    Hi,
my CC (@OS X 10.10.3) showing a strange behavior using vanishing point filter.
After defining grid and try to paste the image OS X paste the icon thumbnail instead of the image,
    Many thanks in advance!!

It is probably related to the fact that you are setting the tables row height in the renderer this will fire a render message when the height changes. One height is applied to all rows of a table. This means that is you have images of different heights you are continually changing the tables row height and therefore continually rendereing.
My approach would be to have all the images fit into a set size ( say 64*64 ( with scaling if neccesary ) you could then have a popup show the full size image if required.

  • Can "Save for Web" generate a thumbnail instead of an icon?

Can "Save for Web" generate a thumbnail instead of an icon? Or can the icon be replaced by a thumbnail? Thanks.

I don't think Save for Web embeds any icons or thumbnails, because the whole point of Save for Web is to keep the file size down as much as possible for Web use by not including anything except the image and some text metadata that you choose. If you're seeing a thumbnail or icon, it was probably generated by your operating system and may only be local to your desktop.
If you do want to embed a thumbnail or icon into a JPEG file, you might get one by choosing File > Save As instead. The Save As command is intended to give you the most complete file possible, where Save for Web is designed to give you the smallest file possible.

  • Is there a way to view apps as a list instead of icons?

Is there a way to view apps as a list instead of icons?

Doesn't anyone else have this desire?
It seems most people are used to seeing lists on all desktop computers. I almost never see anyone viewing files as icons when doing serious work. I'm stumped as to why this would not be an option for the iphone.
Can anyone offer a reason why Apple would confine us to icon view for apps?
Imagine if you could only view your contacts as icons? Or your itunes tracks?
    Come on, what gives?

  • Question marks instead of icons in the dock.

    Hi,
can anyone suggest why my macbooks have question marks instead of icons on and off in the dock. When clicked the icon will re-appear and the application will launch. There is no pattern to which icons will be replaced by question marks or how many. Sometimes all will be question marks, and other times only one? Any ideas?
Also - just a general question - of less importance, but with Leopard looming, historically how well does a server cope with new software versions on clients? Will I really need Server 10.5?

With regard to the questionmark issue, check out this thread:

  • LibreOffice-black rectangle instead of icon "helpers"

    Hi,
I'm on a fresh installed, fully updated, Arch-X86_64/KDE (4.8.00) system.
I've tried to open Writer (part of Libre Office ver 3.4.5) and found that I get full black rectangles, instead of icon "helpers" (that small window which appears if you leave the mouse curser a few seconds on an icon).
Libre Office is configured to use US English as the default user interface (and language as well), with Hebrew for CTL.
Below is a copy of my local.
    Please advise!

  • No thumbnail images - only icons instead

Bridge does not cache images from my m2t- and mpg-files, only from avi. Consequently there are no thumbnail images in the 'CONTENT' window, but only MS Media Player icons (I'm not sure whether this is the correct name for the window, in German it is 'INHALT'). Note: The 'PREVIEW' is working well.
I just have installed a codec-package containing all types I use, especially m2t.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Christian

    Hello Ann,
I've got a question on the display of thumbnails issue. I only have Bridge CS2, so it's probably not even close to up to being as powerful as later versions. Mention was made of the File Associations in Preferences, and these only affecting the associated program to open into. In searching, I noticed that Bridge CS2 does not have many of the AV file types listed. There is no WMV, MPEG (also none of the more current versions of MPEG), and even AVI is missing. The only thumbnail that I got was from an .ASX file. Now, this is Bridge from the CS2 Production Studio, installed with PrPro, AE, etc.
As I usually use another cataloging program, ThumbsPlus for AV Assets, and Bridge just for my RAW, TIFF, PSD and JPEG images, I had not really noticed this, until I was invited to join in on this thread. Do those "missing" file types show up on Bridge CS3 - CS4? I would just assume that they were added post-CS2.
Now, as you know, there are all sorts of general reasons for thumbnails not appearing in cataloging programs. I have found that MPEG-1's seldom display. MPEG-2's more often do. AVI's (unless they are encoded with the DivX/Xvid CODEC) usually do show. MOV and WMV seem to be a crap-shoot, with MOV's seldom displaying thumbnails. I'd wager that most of this is due to an incompatibility between the encoding CODEC and the various programs, and how they handle the CODEC's, even when installed on a system.
Sorry to only have questions, and no suggestions, but I hope to learn something about Bridge along the way.
    Thanks,
    Hunt
[Edit] The above references just the Thumbnails. With Preview, I do get the first frame, along with any muxed audio. I do not have any of the recent HD MPEG's to test with. Even without those file associations, Preview works fine. Now, I have to go find some MPEG-1's and test a few of those.

  • Thumbnail missing - an icon in its place

One directory when viewed in Bridge shows thumbnails for all the images in the directory except two. For those two a [Ps] icon shows up instead. All the images in the directory are recent CS3 .psd files. If I double-click on the icons it launches CS3 and the image displays correctly. I've tried refresh but that doesn't recreate the thumbnail. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks Curt for your suggestion. It recreated the cache but the two files were still left as icons. I suspect that there's something wrong with the PSD files that doesn't bother CS3 or LR2 but is giving Bridge problems. I'm guessing that each PSD has an embedded thumbnail in it and that this is corrupted somehow. I poked through CS3 to see if there was any way to regenerate the embedded image but I was unable to find such a command. I made a duplicate of the PSD file and that had problems as well. -- Still looking for suggestions...

  • How can I make navigation buttons textual instead of icons?

In pre-29 versions there was an option for this in the customise toolbar. It says 'Show:' with a drop-down menu next to it with the options icons, icon & text, text. I prefer this to be set to text but I don't see such an option in the customisaton menu for newer FF versions.

    Hello,
Try using the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer] extension. After it is installed, you can go to:
    *Tools > Classic Theme Restorer
To change the options for it, such as showing text instead of/alongside icons on your toolbars.
Please see [[How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox]] for more information.

  • Question mark instead of icon in dock

I'm seeing a question mark instead of the VLC icon in my dock. Does anyone know why?

The icons in the dock are basically shortcuts to the applications themselves.
Can you still open VLC through Spotlight or the Applications folder?
If so, delete the question mark from the dock by dragging it up off the dock and letting it go "poof." Then open VLC, right-click on its icon in the dock, and choose Keep in Dock.

  • Content viewer white thumbnail instead of uploaded jpg thumbnail

When viewing my folio with Adobe Content Viewer running ios 6, I can seen the desired thumbnail image that I uploaded. However, when I view the same folio downloaded to an iPad running ios 7, there is a blank white icon where the uploaded jog should be. Please help!!!

    Hi Bob,
When I launch the Adobe Content Viewer App on my iPad, I arrive at the content viewer homepage. This is the icon I am referring to. It is the Visual icon (thumbnail) for my folio.
To recap, I can see it on an iPad running ios 6, but not on an iPad running ios 7.

  • No thumbnail detail , just icon of adobe reader XI (window 7)

there is no thumbnail detail in folder or file icons, just pdf icon of adobe reader XI is displayed (window 7), please help!

I found the solution to the program itself not opening properly on another thread on this site.  See below:
I spoke to a colleague about what was happening, and he had me reinstall Adobe Reader XI and attempt to start it.  I then navigated to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\ folder and double-clicked the Eula.exe. It displayed the End User License Agreement window and I clicked 'Accept'. After doing that I was able to start the Reader without issue and it all seems to be working fine now.
The above worked for me and now Reader XI will open properly and stay open.  Hope this helps someone else.
