Thumbnail Issues

I just d/lded the recent version upgrade, and now my thumbnails have disappeared, and my ability to select them under theview tab is greyed, so I cannot select same. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I tried that, and it initially appeared to work, but as soon as I switched to a subfolder of photos I had d/lded after I upgraded the iphoto, the thumbnails disappeared and the ability to select them went grey again. I tried re-doing the fix, and the same thing happened. In both cases, the thumbnails disappeared completely.

  • .gif animations not working and image thumbnail issues

    Hello,
I hope that someone can help me out.
I have animated .gif images on my iWeb site and they just recently stopped working, and I cant figure it out.
    These are my issues:
Recently iWeb wont show my animated .gifs as they should. (I have found that this still kind of works in IE, but not FF or Safari) In iWeb my .gifs show as a video clip, but once I publish the site, it only shows up as a single image and not an animation. Also the options on my site that allow users to switch back and forth between showing the miniature thumb nails of my images for the slideshow and not showing them do not show up all the time. The .gifs are also not showing up inside the miniature thumbnails as well.
Also note: Those miniature little thumbnails show up very fuzzy as well. This doesn't seem like it should be like that. Am I over looking something important?
Not sure what I have to do to fix these issues. I have looked to see if I am missing an update or something, but it appears that I am up to date.
    Can anyone help me out?

    Hi Neil,
    I have the same problem.
I created a short title animation with EDGE, you can download it here : https://creative.adobe.com/share/829a6ca9-7f26-4ee5-8120-a5da388e3c33
Once in inDesign, I create a web content overlay that I link to my html animation.
I turn ON auto play and set a delay of 0.25 sec. The article that contains the animation is the third of my folio.
If I preview the article ONLY, the animation fires correctly however if I preview the whole folio, the title appears but with no animation what so ever.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    J.

  • PE 10 running on Mac OS 10.6.8 Thumbnail issue

I have 4GB RAM and lots of hard drive room. Why can't I see a thumbnail view of my video clip in the organizer. All I see is a thumbnail view with an Hour-glass. I need to double click the hour-glass then click play to see the clip. The video clips were taken with a Sanyo Xacti HD. In the Premiere Elements Editor the best settings it: NTSC-AVCHD-AVCHD LITE 720p30.
I use to do all my editing in iMovie and thumbnail clip generation was not an issue.
I don't have this issue with my Windows 7 laptop, different operating system.
Could this be a Mac/Adobe issue only?
Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Shooting MPEG4 - AVC/H.264 should not be a problem, notably because it’s supported by Apple’s Quick Time. You may have a missing codec on the Mac.
The video forum may be able to offer better Advice. Give it a try:

  • Thumbnail issues in Pages 5.1

Hi all, since upgrading to pages 5.1 I am having some issues that were quite basic in the previous version.  I am unable to select multiple thumbnails in order to copy/paste.  I am also unable to do a right click on thumbnails (no menus).  Help.

Hopefully you can help with the problem I am having with Page 09.  I downloaded the Pages 5 (have not upgraded to 5.1) on all my computers- laptop, iMac and mac mini.  On my Laptop and Mac Mini Pages will not let save or make any changes- I have had it on both of the computers years (macmini) 9 months laptop working with no problems.  Says I am in a trial version.  Do you think removing Pages 5 will fix it or am I just screwed?  Pages 5 will not open older versions of Pages or the previous Appleworks/ Clariswork documents I have (yes, I have been using a mac for that long and deeply miss Clariswork that could open anything at the time).
Thanks for any insight.  I would be a pain to have to move and do all the work from the iMac.

  • Weird thumbnails issue

I thought this one had gone away, but...
I noticed recently that some images had a strangely squashed appearance. Checking them further reveals that they are an image with the wrong thumbnail attached. Simple recreating it fixed the problem.
It's the way it's happening that I find most intriguing though, as it's only affecting a very specific range of images. Oh, and I saw this exact same thing happening back in Aperture 1.5, so it looks like a deep rooted bug somewhere (and this is a newly created Library since then too).
Most puzzling is this does not, and never has, affect any images I have taken with a digital camera, and imported directly off the media card, or any images I have imported from Email. It's only affecting images that have been scanned and rotated.
The process involved is that I batch scan some images from negatives on my Epson 4490, so that these are saved to a folder. Then I import them into Aperture into a Project for each film roll, do any minor edits needed initially, such as rotate and crop.
I can then go back into that Project later, although I'm not sure exactly when the defect occurs (whether I've reloaded Aperture, done a restart of the Mac, or updated the Vault), and notice that some images have a squashed appearance. On inspection, I find that a rotated thumbnail has been applied to a non-rotated image (the wrong image as well). I hit Recreate Thumbnail, and all is well again (actually using Rebuild Preview works as well).
This has happened regardless of the file type, as I've used both JPG and TIFF for my scans over time. It's also regardless of scanning software used, until recently I've been using the EpsonScan software, but this recent lot I've been using VueScan.
On the odd occasion I have had just a few images where I could not recover the correct thumbnail or preview, and had to reimport the images, as it seemed to have corrupted the master. Admittedly that was after I'd tried a defrag on the drive (and why I'm reluctant to recommend routine defragging). But again it only affected scanned images.

This seems to be a general issue: when Aperture 3.x has trouble reading a Preview image it reverts to lo-res thumbnails as a fallback strategy. I have found that selecting the image causes the Preview to be re-generated as the version is rendered for display in the Viewer.
It's not always obvious that you're viewing thumbnails in the Browser if you've got the images displayed at a small size - except for images with a portrait aspect ratio, where the thumb isn't rotated (since the missing Preview image was already rotated before it was generated.) Then the wierd distortion is very obvious.
I think there are a number of different problems that can lead Aperture 3.x to lose track of its Previews. Forcing Previews to be re-generated can appear to cure the problem but it's just fixing the symptom; eventually the underlying problem may disconnect Aperture from its Preview images again and you'll see the distortion problem re-appear.

  • Sudden Onset Image Thumbnail Issue

I seem to be having some issue with image files. Since this morning, images tend to be a little corrupted, and I've been noticing that choose the "get info" tab, the thumbnails in the upper left corner are missing.
    Looks like this:
    http://i44.tinypic.com/1zyu2k9.jpg
I've cleared the cache, run scripts, you name it. Anyone have this problem before?

What do you mean by a "little corrupted?"
    Try trashing the following plists:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.desktop.plist
    com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
    Also try the combo update.

  • Revisiting the thumbnails issue - AP2.0

I saw a post here last week referring to a problem AP2.0 was having constantly generating/rebuilding thumbnails for projects even after they had already seemingly been generated. I did not have this problem after my initial upgrade, but now for every project i'm in (regardless of whether they are converted using 1.1 or the 2.0 engine) when i scroll through the project and select an image i will often get a gray box, the picture will dissappear from the browser, and I will see the activity wheel spinning on the bottom of the screen showing that aperture is building/generating thumbnails. this happens not only after an import, but even when i revisit past projects whose thumbnails have already been built.
Perhaps I have something set that instructs aperture to constantly build new thumbnails? is that even an option?
Is anyone else having this issue?
    Message was edited by: Abbstrack

checking to see if anyone else has is having this issue. i was under the assumption that the 2.01 update resolved issues with thumbnails, but not on my machine. And despite the limitation of my system, this seems more like a buggy program problem than lack of enough horsepower under the hood. It's impossible for me to move through a project with any consistency, as every third or fourth image i move to brings up a grey box, and then thumbnails begin to regenerate...despite thumbnails having been built (to my knowledge) for the entire project several times over already.

  • Thumbnail issue

I have just installed Acrobat X1 on 2 machines both running OS 10.6.8
In both instances i am experiencing problems with moving pages around in the thumbnail view. It is not all PDF's which is strange but it is the same files that won't work on the 2 machines. I can open the files in Acrobat 9 and they function perfect.
    Any ideas would be grateful.
    Thanks
    Dave

The attached was file was created from Quark V9. But I do not think creator of the file is the issue because a file that was supplied to us from indesign has the same problem. I have found a work around all beit a pain, it works. If I open the file and preflight the pdf, then go to page thumbnails I can move the pages around and save the file. So that gets me out of a jam. But when I close the pdf and reopen, then check the page thumbnails back to the same problem cannot move them around. This issue has only happened since I subscibed and downloaded from cloud. Previously I had trialed the free version for ten days without any problems.
    Thanks
    Dave

  • Keywords and thumbnails issue

I've got a few events where a vertical thumbnail or two are overlapping the thumbnails above them and pushing up their keywords. It seems to throw off the layout in general, because some of the other keywords are getting misaligned as well.
    Any ideas?
    Dan P.

Quit iPhoto and delete your iPhoto preference file ("your username" ==> library ==> preference ==> com.apple.iphoto.plist) and launch iPhoto - it will generate a new default preferencefile -make any changes to it that you need for your personal operation

  • IPhoto thumbnail issue

I have a new Mac with Snow Leopard and iPhoto 09. I transferred stuff from an older Mac and my iPhoto library transferred nicely. Now I notice that when I double-click on a thumbnail image from a recent event I get a blurry black screen with a white circle and an "i". I've tried all the rebuilding choices using option-command while starting up and they are still not showing an enlarged version. I tried deleted the iPhoto preference file. Nothing. I have almost everything backed up but a few recent pictures. I'd like to get those pictures back. What can I do? If they are corrupted and lost to me, how can I ever trust iPhoto with my pictures again? Thanks in advance for the help.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Bridge Folder Thumbnails Issue

If I open a folder that has multiple folders in it, some of them are the normal size thumbnails but they don't say what the name of the folder is beneath it. Others (in the same folder) have a little tiny folder icon, with what looks like a sort of button over it, with the folder name on it.
I tried purging the thumbnail cache but it repopulated with the same icons.
    Any ideas on fixing this??
    Thanks

Hi. Not sure if I'm understanding correctly, but try going to the View menu and looking to see if "show thumbnails only" is checked. When I check that choice, I get folders with "buttons" containing the filenames floating on top of the folder thumbnail. when you uncheck that, the buttons go away and you get back your folder info., keywords, etc.

  • PrE10 Menu Thumbnails Issue (MAC)

On all the blu-ray/AVCHD disks I've ever created (with full HD content), the menu thumbnails have black bars at the top and bottom.
However, my latest disk has a mixture of thumbnails with black bars, and some without (i.e. full picture thumbnail).
On the preview, all the thumbnails have bars.
I've not done anything different from previous projects - is this another random bug I've discovered?!?
    Anybody else experienced this?

This happens when you project settings do not match your source video specs.
What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
Which project settings did you select when you first started your project? You can see, but can not change, your project settings under the Edit menu.
Also make sure that menu templates you select have a little HD logo in the upper right corner. HD menus are 16:9 while standard DV menus are 4:3.

  • IPhoto Video and Thumbnail Issue

I restored all my data to my new hard drive from my Time Capsule.  After iPhoto finished all it's rebuilding and updating thumbnails, the thumbnails for all my videos (imported from my iPhone) in iPhoto are still missing.  The videos are all still there and in the right "events", but without the thumbnail photo, I have no idea which videos are which.  How do I get the thumbnail photos back for my videos?

    It just fixed itself!!!

  • Really weird Thumbnail issue

OK...so i upgraded to iLife 08 on my iBook and everything was working great on iPhoto for about an hour and then wham...all my thumbnails disappear.
I have restarted iPhoto and held down shift-cmn-option and asked it to rebuild thumbnail cache...which it does and still no thumbnails.
It recognises the albums and event etc...just cant see any pics. I know the pic library is still there as all 8GB is present. BUT when I try to view them the iPhoto library is now just an iPhoto library and when I click it...it just opens iPhoto. I have re-installed software, restarted...everything. Nothing works. Any thoughts?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
