Thumbnail not showing for artist view on music app

Ever since iOS 7 (now on iOS 8.1.1), the thumbnails in the artist view of the music app on my iPhone 5 sometimes shows up but not for all artists.
I have tried restoring iPhone as new phone without restoring a backup (as I thought the backup may include the problem), restarted iTunes and iPhone, restarted MacBook on OS X Lion. Removed music, re-sync'd. Manually added album covers, re-sync'd.
Al album covers show, but artist view where a promo-type picture of the artist is usually shown does not work for all artists.
Would have been more reliable if iOS could have simply used the latest album cover as the artist thumbnail.

It's a universal glitch with ios5. With any double album (i.e. Greatest Hits Vol.1 and Greatest Hits Vol. 2), the 2nd album is not coming up under "Artist". It's there under "Albums" and "Songs", but NOT "Artists".

Cyndi6858, help is here! We'd be happy to help figure this out. Just to be sure though, the Droid Maxx should not have an SD card. Is this the Droid Razr Maxx? How did you add the music to the device? Are you able to see the files and folders located on the SD card or device when plugged in?

Artist view in Music App is not displaying all the albums of an artist. iOS 5 problem?

In my case, for example, I have 2 albums of Sade.
When viewed in Artist view, only one album shows up. The other album is missing.
But when I go to Album view, I can find the Album. And the artist name is correctly labeled as Sade.
Anyone knows why? I don't remember this before upgrading to iOS 5.

Album Art not showing in Artists view!

My issue is that the artwork shows in the Albums view but when I switch to Artists view, some dissapear.
Check "Demi Lovato", "Avril Lavigne" and "El Cuarteto de Nos" for reference to my problem.

Thumbnails not showing for all pictures in organizer

I'm using PSE 6 on windows Vista. I have a number of catalogs. Each catalog has a significant number of pictures. I use "My Catalog" as a base catalog.
Lately when I add photos to "My Catalog" the thumbnails only show an hour glass. If I add the same photos to another catalog the thumbnails work fine.
Any ideas?

Thanks to reading other posts regarding thumbnails and catalogs, I hit upon a suggestion to repair the catalog.
This process did indeed find errors in the thumbnail cache.
Upon deleting this the cache was rebilut and now thumbnails are working as expected.

Music in WDMyCloud not showing up in Win10 groove music app

hi all just upgraded to win10, the film & tv app able to show all my movies in wdmycloud. but music is not showing up in groove music app. anyone has any success in this? thx

I found that I had to close and then reopen the Grove Music app after setting a specific folder/location on the WD My Cloud that contains the music files before Grove would actually populate the Albums, Artists, and Songs categories. One needs to make sure to point Grove Music to the folders containing the music via the "Change where we look" option, then click the Add Folder option (the plus inside a circle icon) on the "Build your collection from your local music files" dialog box. Its possible it may take Grove a while to catalog the files if there are a large amount of files. It might be better to map the music directory on the WD My Cloud to one's local PC and point Grove at the mapped drive instead. Here is an example. I don't have any music on my local PC at the moment. The albums found and listed are stored on the WD My Cloud. It should also be noted that the folder "Music" on the WD My Cloud is a private share ("Public Access" set to Off) that has the "Media Serving" set to On. On a side note, its possible that when Windows 10 was installed it configured the network connection as a "Public network", or has has turned off "Network discovery", in which case it will block certain or all access to local network devices like the WD My Cloud. Custom Genre Not Showing Up In Apple's Music App [02/20/2015]

Hello, I have the iPad mini 2 Model: A1489 16GB @ iOS 8.1.3
I have made 2 custom genres that show up just fine in the Genres tab with every song belonging to these respectable genres. I also have 'Instrumental' and 'Piano' genres that I'm not sure if qualifies as custom genres, but they work well too.
However, my latest custom genre 'A Cappella' is not showing up with the rest of the genres. The 1 album that I have for this genre shows up in the Albums tab and the songs show up in the Songs tab. The album also shows up after selecting the artist in the Artists tab, but does not show up in Genres.
There are 2 songs in this genre, but they are my favorite and I want to be able to get to them quickly. ^.^
The genre does show up in iTunes, Windows Media Player, and the Meta Data is all there when I look at the properties of the files. I can't seem to find out what other differences the working genres' and the non-working genre's songs have except that they have different genres.
Every song on my Ipad has the same Artist. <<<<(If that helps....)

Missing Artist Photo in Music App

Some of the artists with photo in iTunes Store does not show the photo in the Music App on my iPhone.
For example, if you search Mai Kuraki on iTunes Store, it shows a photo of the artist. From what I know, this means that the music app will show this photo in the artist tab. However, there are quite a few of artists who have a photo but there're not showing on the music app.
I have tried to open iTunes Store on my phone and sign out then sign in again. There's still no refresh on the music app.
I'm using iPhone 4s with iOS 8.1.3

I Have the same issue. At all other views, album, song, lists, including landscape view, the artwork are visible. The only problematc view is Artist View; most of artist show the generic silver box! Any solutions????

I understand that you are having issues with your music displaying correctly. This may be an issues with the metadata stored within that song, and iTunes interpretation of that info.

IPad music app does not show track artists in compilations

Hello community,
i have a problem with my iPad's music app. When browsing compilations, it does not show the artist of each track like my iPhone does. Both devices are sync'ed with the same iTunes library, and the 'Part of a compilation' flag is set correctly to the corresponding tracks.
Please let me illustrate the problem with a few screenshots.
The iPhone shows this compilation correctly as 'Various Artists' and thus displays the track's artists in each line below:
In contrast, the iPad's music app does not seem to identify the compilation correctly. The artist is not shown as "Various Artists" like on the iPhone, but the artists of the first track is wrongly used instead. Furthermore, the artist of each track is not shown in the list on the right side:
The setting "Sort album by artist" is turned on on both devices.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

It's not you, it's the iPad's iOS. The Music app in iOS 5 for the iPad is horrendous with several UI fails:
- No category for Compilations
- Incorrect/ Missing Artist for Compilations
- No lyrics
- No indication of track number within a group of tracks (e.g. "18 of 37")
- Sporadic indication of which track is playing while looking at a list
Hopefully these things get corrected in iOS 6, but for now you'll have to bear with it. You can voice your concern here:

According to your post, my understanding is that the read only user could not see the list view web part.
Per my knowledge, the issue may be cause that the user do not have the proper permission for the list.
1. Check whether the user can access the list.
2. Check whether the user can view all the items instead of partial items in the list.
3. Check whether there are some fields refer to other lists or terms, especially the lookup field or managed metadata filed.
If that is the case, make sure the user can access the lookup list.

What happened to the old album-artist view in Music?

Is there a way to bring back the old album-artist view in Music?
In iOS 6, when you clicked on an artist, you would be presented with a list of albums that you could then click on to get the track list.
Now, in iOS 7, when you click on an artist you get a full track list of all albums in a single list.
Brutal! Is there a way to put it back to the way it was?

When they done that - the forum fills up with questions on WHY isn't it Hollywood Quality ?

Problem with Css styles not showing in live view or when i browse

I am using Mac osx 10.6 and building website with Dreamweaver CS5. Sometimes div tags i create not showing styles or rendering in live view or when I browse but showing in design view. I looked in dreamwever faq and they talk about not showing in design view to toggle the display styles. That is not the problem becuase it is check marked and I tried turning off and turning on and made no difference.I am using firefox browser.
It happened before the other day too. But all of my other pages in this site that i have created the same way building with div tags and css styles. So not sure what the problem is. Maybe someone has a suggestion here.

Captions Not Showing in List View Though They are There

Ever since I've been using Aperture I've had issues with Captions not showing in List View. The caption is there and shows in the Info Panel but does not show in the List View. I close Aperture, reopen, and it appears in List View. Frustrating when trying to caption thousands of images. You think the image has no caption and when you add a caption it doubles up on what is already there, but could not been seen, and a mess is born. Any one else have this issue? I see it in every Library I create whether on my field laptop or my main desktop Library. Screen shot attached of caption showing in Info pane but not in list view.

Happens all the time. The problem has been there for as long as I can remember, and shows itself in Keywords as well as Captions, maybe others. And yes, it is a major annoyance, and it is a bug IMO. You've found the same workaround I have, namely to restart Aperture.
If you haven't already done so, submit a bug report using Aperture Feedback to add your voice to the list.
