Thumbnail play indicator on mp3 disappeared

I haven't used bridge too much so excuse me if this is a dumb question, but I can't figure it out. I have PS CS5 and in full Bridge I was looking at a bunch of mp3 files and trying out different settings like marking them for review, etc. When I clicked on any mp3 thumbnail it would automatically start playing with a play indicator below the thumb's rating and name. They were all working. I then selected one thumb mp3 and gave it a rating of 4 and the thumb changed and has no indication of the play indicator and no longer automatically plays when I select it. The other thumbs still play and I can change their ratings and they still play and show the indicator. This one file though now only plays if I right click and selct open which opens a pop up window. It still shows the star ratings and name but not the play indicator. I tried purging the cache, it isn't locked and I can see nothing else that would cause it to suddenly not play automatically.
What am I doing wrong?  Thanks,

I'm not talking about embeded file EXIF or IPCT data. I was concerned about the Bridge data added... ratings, notes, catagories, etc., and where they are all kept? I would want that backed up so that if the data base becomes corrupted I don't lose all the work and time I have spent on it, along with a way to easily resore it. Normally, there is no way to even see the path you mentioned. When I uncheck the hide protected opperating system files I can see the folder for user\app data but I can't even open it, even as administrator. Maybe something to do with Windows 7?  Anyway, I would have thought there would be a built in data back up like ACDSee has in it's browsers.
I am leary of doing a reset as I am afraid I will lose all the set up preferences I have and I have no idea what else it might reset. I did look on line at Adobe but haven't found any clear information about this. I have suffered data loss years ago with early versions of ACDSee before they improved their back up and restore features of their data base and it is a huge loss when you no longer have all the key words, catagories, ratings, etc. that you have spent endless hours on. They now have the option of using "side car" data files that move with the files, I think this is an excellent idea.
Thanks,

  • Load and play different external MP3

    I wanted to do something I thought was simple - I wanted to have a sound playing (loaded external mp3) and then have various buttons on the screen that load an alternate song in its place.  Could someone please help me?
    This is what I'm trying to do:
    var myMusic:Sound = new Sound();
    var reqMyMusic:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mySong.mp3");
    myMusic.load(reqMyMusic);
    myMusic.play();
    music1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, music1);
    music2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, music2);
    function music1(event:Event)
        // LOAD AND PLAY A DIFFERENT MP3 (in place of mySong.mp3)
    function  music2(event:Event)
        // LOAD AND PLAY A DIFFERENT MP3 (in place of mySong.mp3)

    use:
    var myMusic:Sound = new Sound();
    var reqMyMusic:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mySong.mp3");
    myMusic.load(reqMyMusic);
    var sc:SoundChannel = myMusic.play();
    music1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, music1);
    music2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, music2);
    function music1(event:Event)
    sc.stop();
    myMusic = null;
    myMusic=newSound();
    myMusic.load(new URLRequest("whatever"));
    sc=myMusic.play();
    function  music2(event:Event)
    sc.stop();
    myMusic = null;

  • "never play this song " option disappeared,

    I noticed today the "never play this song " option disappeared from iTunes Radio.
    Also, I can no longer Favorite a song, the only option is to add it to wishlist.
    What's up with that?
    Is there a fix?
    Thanks Jeff

    Yep same here. iTunes Radio is buggy as **** on iPhone.
    - Never Play This Song simply doesn't work. Tracks reappear sometimes immediately right after clicking NEVER PLAY
    - iAds play way more than every 25 minutes. Usually right after you chose Never Play
    - iAds repeat the same ad over and over rather than cycle through different ones
    - "Tuning Stations" from Popular to Discovery are terms ambiguous in the extreme, and don't seem to have any effect on the choice of music presented. I seem to get the same artists/tracks regardless of setting,
    - Very limited choice of artists presented, even when set on 'Discovery' which I would assume would widen the base if it worked. For example, the Alternative Rock station has given me maybe at most the same 20 artists. There are HUNDREDS of indie bands on iTunes to chose from that all reflect my personal tastes. I swear if I see Imagine Dragons one more time i'm gonna blow a gasket.
    - Stations arbitrarily LOCK UP and refuse to play. You can click on them, they depress then pop back up but don't start. Then, a few hours later, they'll suddenly work.
    - Sometimes after pressing Never Play or Play More Like This, the app will crash and exit
    - Occasionally it will REFUSE to build a station based on a song or artist. Why?
    Hopefully Apple will see this list and create a forum for iTunes Radio and let us know a fix is in the works.

  • Bug when playing non-standard MP3 file

    There appears to be a problem when reading/playing MP3 files. If the mono/stereo indicator in the first frame of a VBR MP3 file (VBR frame itself, Xing VBR in my case) contains "stereo", but the subsequent frames contain single-channel sound (i.e. mono), the file is not played by iTunes. The file is playing perfectly fine with MS media player, Foobar2000 and a host of other music players though.
    To be precise, in my case, the frame header of the Xing VBR frame is FF FB 90 00, but the frame header of the actual sound frame is FF FB 40 C4.
    I thought the whole idea of MP3 encoding is that it allows to change all parameters of the sound from one frame to another. Yet, it seems that a simple switch from stereo to mono throws iTunes off track.

    Why not fix the VBR frame to be correct for the sound it's describing? Just run VBRFix on the files.

  • I want to but can't play WAVs and MP3s in the same folder, please he

    Hello,
    I have a Zen Nano Plus. One of the reasons I got it was because it has a built in microphone. When you record with the mic it saves it as a WAV file, and puts it in the "recorded" file. I want to make a folder with both songs (mp3s) and bits of spoken word that I record in - so that when I play it I can select shuffle and it will randomly play either a song or a recorded part. (It's for a friend in a coma and we want to leave it playing her favourite songs as well as messages from her friends.) When I make a new folder it won't recognise WAVs only the MP3s, and when I put MP3s in the "recorded" file it won't recognise them, only the WAVs. The shuffle option will only shuffle between tracks in the same folder. I've called the help line and spent half an hour talking to them but nothing was solved. I realise that I can convert the WAV files into MP3 files (anyone recommend a good, free converter?) but would rather not have to do this. Also, if it is possible to play both in the same folder, can I also record through the mic directly into this folder? This would save me having to take it home whenever a new message is left to organise the tracks.
    Any help given very much appreciated,
    Anil.

    Firmware is the operating system of the player, written by Creative. Peebee is saying that it would require a fundamental change to this operating system, which would need to be reprogrammed by Creative. You can by all means request it as a wishlist item, by sending to support, but there's no guarantee it will be implemented.

  • How can I get my itunes purchases to play on any mp3 player?

    I can't get my itunes purchases to play on my other mp3 players.  I don't want to download these programs people suggest on the internet.
    And really, I shouldn't have to. If I've already paid for the music, why can't I put it on the device I choose?  There must be a way. Any help? BTW, I'm using Windows Vista, (yuk)

    You can put the music on any device you choose, as long as the device can play the format. Purchases from the iTunes Store are in industry-standard AAC format. If you want to use them on a player that can only handle MP3, you need to convert the tracks. See:

  • 4G iPod Shuffle can't play 1h-long mp3-files! Why?

    I have just purchased my first iPod Shuffle and it works fine except for the fact that my workout mixes can not be played.
    The Shuffles main purpose should have been to play my music during workout...
    Everyone of the mixes is between 1h and 1.5h long and none of them will play. Normal songs work fine.
    My very old classic can play these mixes!
    I assume it's just a little software bug that's causing this problem.
    If that's the case, how do I tell Apple to please update their firmware to support bigger mp3's?
    I don't wanna call the support but instead write an email or something.

    Hey Luzuk,
    Thanks for the question. What happens when you attempt to play these songs? Based on the information provided, it sounds like these symptoms may be related to software. For isolation purposes, try restoring your iPod to factory settings:

  • Nokia 101 is not playing half my MP3 files

    Bought a new Nokia 101 couple days ago.
    Installed an SD card with several MP3 files (mostly audio books, some music). All these files play without a hitch on all devices I'v tried them on - right from bare basic phones, smartphones to comps.
    Bit I find that a approx half of them won't play on the Nokia 101!. Error message displayed - "File format not supported. Please select another song".
    Discovered that this phone has a ridiculous limitation of not being able to play MP3 files of bitrate lower than 32 kbps. So checked all the files and after eleminating the < 32 kbps files, it is still not playing about half the files that are well above 32 kbps. The other half or is, it plays well. So its not like the MP3 player is totally broken.
    What could be the issue? Please help, as I need the phone to play these files if it is to be of any use to me.
    Quite disappointed with Nokia, as no other phone or player has such issues with playing anything.

    @Srikant - Are you sure? Nokia Care told me on phone that it can be done; and asked me to bring the phone. My concern is that I currently don't have the time for it, and was hoping to find some solution here. Nothing is worse than having to take the time and effort for taking a brand new product for service.
    I don't see a PC interface port on the 101 like the one on my 1112. But I don't know if there is one inside the cover or something... haven't checked.
    While we would all like to use MP3s of high bitrates, its not always a choice we can make. I have some files of <32 kbps, and I now know this amazing phone can't play them. But I really don't understand why it isn't playing half my files that are in the whereabouts of 50 kbps. Its not possible to get these files at originally higher bitrates. I guess I could try to encode these files at higher bitrates, but thats not going to increase their quality! Besides, these are audio books and no music, so the files at existing bitrate are fairly good. And really, why should I be spending time in doing all this, when every other phone, including very basic ones can play these files on the same SD card without a hitch?
    I mainly bought this phone as a secondary phone for some voice calling and for its MP3 player. It fails badly at both jobs as its single speaker design makes any privacy on calls impossble - everyone around can hear the opposite person loudly. And as an MP3 player it fails for the reason above, for having a barely ok speaker (not quite good enough even for audio books) and for being so bare bones as to not even have a seek option, which is a REALLY bad thing when you are listening to audio books.
    Even no-name Chinese phones can do a better job.

  • Itunes wont play my new mp3 exported from Garageband?

    I export my original songs from Garageband 09 in mp3 format and add them to a playlist in itunes. Sometimes Ill make some changes to a song in Garageband and then export and replace the original exported mp3 with the same file name. The preview in Finder plays the new version but when I double click it or open it with itunes it plays the old one? Even when I delete the old one from the playlist and import the new file? Weird!

    I have a similar problem .. when I import a movie, modify the audio track add sounds and music ect... export to iTunes only the original movie audio comes thru. When I check the file in the iTunes movie folder it has the Garageband sounds as I modified it. Opening the movie in Quicktime it plays the total Garageband mix. I suspect a glitch in iTunes.

  • What is standard for CD Players AND Computer Play -- AIFF or MP3?

    I have a voiceover demo. I would like to burn CD copies that will play on BOTH a CD player and Mac computer. Or even on a Windows computer if possible. In other words I want to create a STANDARD CD that I can send out to agents so they can play it on whatever equipment they have handy. Like any standard CD with songs on it like you buy in a store.
    My demo is a professionally produced CD with an AIFF file on it. Is AIFF standard? I have tried duplicating this file and it will play on my Mac but not on a CD player.
    I notice that files online are MP3s. Boy am I confused. Help, please, someone who knows how to unconfuse me.

    AIFF files will not play on normal CD players. The AIFF format is unique to computers, and is not the format used on audio CDs (which is a type of PCM). When you import a CD with a Mac, the system imports as AIFF. But that's not what's on the CD.
    What you need to do for greatest compatibility is burn your demo as an audio CD, which will then play in just about any player, standalone or computer (a few older standalone CD players may have problems with any burned CD). Or, if you're doing a bunch of duplicates, get a third-party application such as Toast that can make direct copies of a CD.
    Hope this helps.

    You can't with the QT X Player app. The "Play sound in the frontmost player only" and "Play sound when application is in the background" are "Preference" options. Since the QT X Player has no preference panel, you cannot access these options with it. You can however, download and install the QT 7 v7.6.6 Player app which is compatible with Mountain Lion. In fact, both players can be installed/used simultaneously on the same system.

  • How to play a regular mp3 stream on iPhone ?

    such as an mp3 stream from:  http://91.121.24.85:80/cybele.mp3
    This can be easily played on iTunes on the computer. But how do we play it from the iPhone directly without using a computer ?

    Clicking directly on the link you posted in Safari worked fine for me.
    For apps just type "stream mp3" into the search box in the AppStore.

  • Mp3 disappears when swf file deployed online

    I made a flash website, and I wanted to have a song playing on application start. It worked when I exported locally, but when I uploaded it into a host (Deviantart.com) the audio was gone.
    I tried making a button and direct-linking to an mp3, but that always resulted in a new page opening up.
    I even converted the mp3 into an flv and made a play/pause button, but the problem still occurred.
    Is there a way to add the song?

    Have to ask the simple question first, did you upload the file? Is the file still there, or did the web host remove it? If you have Firebug installed in Firebox, or use some other web debug tool, you can see if there is a file path error.
    Hope this might solve it,
    Chris

  • How to remove wrong thumbnail picture associated with MP3/WMA file?

    Win7 associates those little thumbnail sized pictures to some mp3/wma files I have (inside Music library), but some some pictures are wrong.
    How to "dissociate" those wrong pictures?
    Furthermore, Win7 seems to fill in informations to music files but once again, some are wrong.  How could I stop it to act "too smart"?

    Hi,
    If you are using Windows Media Player to run these files by default, the problem occurs because the Windows Media Player library database has become
    corrupted.
    First, you may check if it is run by Windows Media Player by default. If not, please change it:
    Change which programs Windows uses by default
    To resolve this problem, clear the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Exit Windows Media Player.
    2. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
    3. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.
    Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.
     4. Restart Windows Media Player.
    Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
    If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:
       1. Exit Windows Media Player.
       2. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.
       3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.
       4. Restart Windows Media Player.
