Thumbnail Resizing

I would like the ability to adjust thumbnail sizes within each folder and have that folder remember the size. Sometimes I need 3 across and sometimes I need 5. When i use the "Tab" key to remove panels I would like the present "across) number to remain constant. IE: if I'm showing 3 with the panels visible when I "tab" it should show 3 (larger) when the panels are removed.
This feature should work on each folder as well as on the Catalog and Collections areas.
Thanks

That would be a neat sticky trick. Maybe a Version 3 or 4 thing?

  • Page thumbnail resizing

    For some reason I don't know, the page thumbnails in some of my Pages files (not all of them) are tiny and I don't know who to restore them to their normal size. Any ideas?

    No idea why the images are missing so I'll try again.

  • How to I get high res thumbnail images?

    Just discovered once I've imported images into my library Aperture 3.2.2 (running under 10.7.3) doesn't render high res thumbnail images (when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is set to the far right/maximum), even though my "Previews" preference settings are as follows:
    "Use embedded JPEG from camera when possible" is unchecked
    "Don't Limit" for Photo Preview is selected
    Photo Preview quality set to 10
    Deleting and regenerating thumbnails doesn't solve the issue. However, if I delete the photo from the referenced library, then reimport the image, the browser thumbnail image renders sharp. The low res thumbnail is at left; high res thumbnail (after re-import) is at right. Both thumbnails images are sharp when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is positioned in the middle. Photos render sharp in the Viewer, regardless.
    Going back through my images, it seems Aperture stopped providing a sharp thumbnail image since around July 2010. Other than updating Aperture, my workflow or supported camera hasn't changed. Couldn't find a reference to this issue in the User Manual. Am I missing something a setting somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Its unclear if the command Generate Thumbnails actually does anything if the thumbs already exist and as there isn;t a Delete Thumbnails command like there is a Delete preview command there are only two ways to force a new thumb to be generated.
    One is to import the image again and two is to delete the Thumbnail folder in the Aperture library. I don;t know for sure if this will fix you problem but as I said it is the only way to force the generation of the thumbs.
    If you try this make sure you have a good working backup of the library. Nothing here will normally cause data loss but it is always a good idea before messing with the library.
    Quit Aperture, Highlight the library in the Finder and right click, Select show package contents. One fo the folders you'll see is Thumbnails, delete it. Open Aperture.
    Also be aware that the regeneration of the thumbs will take some time. Depending on the size of the library it could be an all day affair. Aperture is usable while this is going on but it will be slower.

  • Avoiding pixelation with image resizing

    i just redesigned my site (with a ton of help from many people on this forum--thank you nancy riki osgood
    Sudarshan!!)
    i have my thumbnails resizing (using max width: 100%) in a gallery but on a large browser window like my 32" monitor they get pixelated when they scale up, particularly the text..
    is there  a way to start with a higher resolution image and display them at a smaller display size so when they scale up they stay crisp?

    thanks..

    Hello mate, Welcome back!
    Ideally, I wouldn't do a 100% width for your images on the site for enlarging them. No matter what plug-in you use, you'll definitely end up pixelating the image at least to some extent.
    However, if you're definitely looking at achieving this, try this: http://archive.plugins.jquery.com/project/aeImageResize
    And, start with a higher resolution of the image. The plug-in will scale it down proportionately depending on the screen dimension you're displaying it on, rather the DIV dimension that holds the image inside.
    Also, it is to be noted that usage of multiple jQuery will lead to a performance issue on your site. You should keep this in mind.
    One last thing: having said that you should start with a higher image resolution, your load time for the site will considerably increase as the plug-in only scales down the image visually, it doesn't load differently sized images!
    If I were you, I'll keep the thumbnail images to zoom in to one optimal size and then provide a link inside my fancybox/ lightbox to a much fuller, bigger size image - if someone is interested in seeing them/ downloading the big size image.

  • How To Customize Existing Web Photo Gallery?

    I copied one of the existing Web Photo Galleries (Simple - Vertical Thumbnails) and have customized it. What I'm needing to change now is the Options within the Web Photo Gallery dialogue box. Under "General" I'm needing to have the "Use UTF 8 Encoding" checked, under "Large Images" I need the Resize Images: unchecked, and so forth.
    Where would these setting be located?
    Thanks!,
    Wesley

    Really, that's your answer??  In 3 seconds I saw that your results were not what I needed.  Do you think that I haven't already searched for this?  I'm not needing to know how to adjust current settings each time I bring up the Gallery dialogue box, I'm needing those settings to be preset when I bring up my custom gallery style.
    Where are the Option presets stored?
    I'm needing these presets for example:
    General > Use UTF 8 Encoding and Preserver all metadata to be already checked
    Large Thumbnails > Resize Images to be already unchecked
    Amongst other settings.

  • Is Flash 8 practical for me?

    I'm a Flash 8 newbie. This is my first day using using the
    program. I have a photography website. I would like to make photo
    galleries that have thumbnails to click on to view the larger
    image. I'll need to post between 25 to 40 photos per gallery, at
    least one or two galleries per week. My question is: Once I have a
    template for the kind of gallery I want, can I use it to quickly
    add photos or create new galleries, or is this a time consuming
    thing every time I want to change it or make a new one? I am very
    proficient at Photoshop CS2, so getting photos or thumbnails
    resized to the galleries format won't be the problem. Also, any
    suggestions on where I can get such a ready-to-go template?

    As a rule of thumb, the more time / money you spend setting
    this up, the
    easier and quicker it will be to update. At the 'top of the
    range' you could
    have a web based admin interface that allows you to upload
    new images and
    some meta data for each, a database to store the data about
    the images, a
    server side script to pass that data into Flash and a Flash
    movie that
    queries this script and displays you galleries as
    appropriate. At the bottom
    you would have a Flash movie that you must edit to add extra
    galleries and
    thumbnails to. A good middle ground is to have an XML driven
    site. Your
    'gallery' menus can be defined in XML, then the images in
    each gallery
    defined by another XML file. You then have a Flash page that
    reads these XML
    files and displays menus and thumbnails appropriately. This
    way to add new
    galleries and images all you need to do is edit your XML
    files and upload
    the images as necessary.

  • When using faces, how do I see the whole photo?

    Frequently when reviewing unnamed faces, I would like to see the whole photo to see the context in which the face appears. Is there a way to do it?

    Are you in Faces View?  There should be buttons on the bottom edge of the Browser to switch from the Face to the whole photo.
    See this page in the User Manual:
    As the number of confirmed images of a person grows, it can be difficult to identify a person’s face in a small thumbnail image. To make it easier to identify a person’s face in an image, you can either make the thumbnail images larger or switch from showing whole images to showing only faces.
    To make the thumbnail images larger
    In the Faces browser, drag the Thumbnail Resize slider to the right.
    To show faces only
    In the Faces browser, click the Faces button.
    Each thumbnail image in the Faces browser is cropped to show only the person’s face.
    To show whole images
    In the Faces browser, click the Photos button.
    The thumbnail images in the Faces browser return to displaying whole images.

  • Some old features requirement

    Is there any way to change the thumbnail view library background from white to black as in itunes 8..... & also where is this thumbnail resize slider in the new version...aint find it nowhere...
    can anyone tell me?

    The background colour is not user changeable. There have been may posts on the colour change. If you wish, you can send your feedback on the subject directly to Apple at this link: Apple Product Feedback

  • Question in Muse

    Is there anyway to vary the sizes of the the thumbnails in a slider so they are all different sizes?

    Uncheck "Edit Together" property of slider and resize thumbnails according to your requirements. You can check it again for appliying same features. But size you assigned is permanently fixed. If you resize again with "Edit together" checked after setting thumbnail, all thumbnails resizes in the same ratio.

  • Can I resize thumbnails in the Review widget?

    In the review widget options, the sixth option down is called "Drag Thumbnail to Target."
    Does anyone know if I can resize the thumbnails at the bottom?

    Hi Ian,
    Are you talking about the thumbnails in the Pages pane?
    In that case, you can right-click on the Pages pane to bring up the context menu.
    "Enlarge Page Thumbnails" and "Reduce Page Thumbnails" are items on that menu.
    You can also click on the little gears icon under the name of the Pane. That bring up the same menu.

  • Thumbnails in New Tab Page are not resizing

    Hey,
    Since the latest update (33.0.2), the thumbnails for the websites on the 'New Tab Page' do not resize when the window is resized, so I cannot see all the thumbnails unless the window is full screen. It used to be that if I dragged the corner of the window to make it smaller or larger, the thumbnails would resize so I could always see all of them. I'm always multi-tasking and never have the browser full screen so it is a bit annoying.
    Any help would be appreciated, thanks
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
    FireFox 33.0.2

    Thanks for the reply Cory.
    The issue that jscher2000 had is basically the same problem I'm having, but rather than just making all the thumbnails permanently smaller, I would like to restore the previous functionality that would resize them as needed. It always worked great until just a few days ago when I installed the latest update.
    Using jscher2000's solution would help, but not completely fix it... I can use that solution if that's the only thing I can do, but I would much rather get the previous method back.
    Thanks again, I would love to hear if anyone thinks they have the fix.

  • Covers not resizing for thumbnail view

    Hi,
    How/when/where does the thumbnail png file for ADE get created? I have some epubs ebooks that are not displaying correctly. Instead of the cover being resized for the thumbnail, it is being cropped. On other books, however, it works fine. I can't see the difference in the actual html of the ebook. I did verify that it is the actual png file in the ADE thumbnails folder that is incorrect.
    Help?

    Not a problem with it sounding snippy.  The key bit for you situation is was that it was rendering it at the thumbnail size (90x130, iirc), and as you found out it if your HTML was making some bad assumptions (usually in the size attributes for the image element) that it would be rendering in a larger viewport, that would be causing the cropping.
    What I didn't know is if it was your authored content or not, because if it wasn't then the easier fix is to just replace the thumbnail image in the  DE Thumbnails Directory.

  • Resizing RAW thumbnail and preview

    No one in Adobe technical support seems to be able to help me.
    I've updated CS2 to CS5, and in Bridge, am unable to increase the thumbnail and preview size of .CR2 images. JPEGS, PDF, PSDs... they all resize fine. And before you ask... yes I know about the slider at the bottom. And yes I have tried all the 'cache' options.
    I have also tried to create a new login with administrator rights (at the request of tech support) and it still has the same issue.
    I have also reinstalled CS5 once as well.
    Any suggestions? Pretty please?

    Thanks for reporting back, still some questions.
    Did you search for hidden cache files other than the before named cache
    files?
    Here or some of my thoughts about your attempts:
    >> Purged the cache Bridge CS5
    Have you already tried to delete the complete cache folder manually from the
    user library cache/adobe/adobe Bridge CS5 location? After restart Bridge
    creates a fresh, new but completely empty cache file and you need to recache
    your thumbs and previews.
    >> Deleted the Bridge preferences.
    By this you mean the plist file from user library and combined with
    restarting Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences?
    >> Re-created the SwitchBoard preferences files.
    Could you explain how? To my knowledge Switchboard resides at root level on
    your system and serves Adobe Air that is also used by Bridge as part of the
    CS suite. But I'm not aware of an option to recreate the preferences?
    >> Updated all software including Camera Raw Plug-in and Bridge and Photoshop
    That should do but for security check if you have only one version active
    (in PS Menu Photoshop about plug ins - Camera Raw, it should say 6.3.0.79)
    >> Created new user
    Most efficient to rule out user specific problems, which brings me to the
    question if you have the default application folder as place for installed
    CS applications?
    >> Reset all work space
    It was a wild guess...
    >> Deleted and reinstalled CS5 twice now
    That is time spoiled if you did not use the Adobe Clean tool also to get rid
    of all preferences. See this article also with the download of the clean
    tool itself.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
    I just can't understand why it is only RAW images. All other formats are fine.
    It is odd.
    Might narrow it down on the raw converter?
    Any other suggestions?
    Personally I would start from Scratch. First read about the Clean Tool and
    be sure to back up all your customized settings, actions tools etc in all
    CS5 applications. Use the save option as much as possible for these settings
    you want to keep and give the files a proper name and new folder so you can
    import them again in an easy way.
    Deactivate the software and use the uninstaller that can be found in the
    separate Suite applications in the application folder. Then use the clean
    tool and then use a search like spotlight (but preferable the free or almost
    free Easy Find that also finds hidden files) to check on all other Adobe
    files that reside on your system and decide if you trash them or place them
    in a separate folder outside the library.
    Don't forget to delete the hidden cache files for Bridge. You will need some
    time to recache the lot but if it works it is all worth it.
    If it does not work I help you crying if that is of some comfort for you

  • Getting black image when resize to thumbnail

    When uploading images through a servlet via a webbrowser, I am saving the image to the harddrive and then resizing the image as thumbnail for certain view pages.
    I have tried serveral approaches to resizing the image, with all solutions I use the thumbnail image is being returned as a solid back image.
    I started with the example on the Sun Tech Tips site: http://java.sun.com/developer/TechTips/1999/tt1021.html
        public static void createThumbnail(
                String orig, String thumb, int maxDim) {
            try {
                // Get the image from a file.
                Image inImage = new ImageIcon(orig).getImage();
                // Determine the scale.
                double scale = (double) maxDim / (double) inImage.getHeight(null);
                if (inImage.getWidth(null) > inImage.getHeight(null)) {
                    scale = (double) maxDim / (double) inImage.getWidth(null);
                // Determine size of new image. One of them
                // should equal maxDim.
                int scaledW = (int) (scale * inImage.getWidth(null));
                int scaledH = (int) (scale * inImage.getHeight(null));
                // Create an image buffer in which to paint on.
                BufferedImage outImage = new BufferedImage(scaledW, scaledH,
                        BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
                // Set the scale.
                AffineTransform tx = new AffineTransform();
                // If the image is smaller than the desired image size,
                // don't bother scaling.
                if (scale < 1.0d) {
                    tx.scale(scale, scale);
                // Paint image.
                Graphics2D g2d = outImage.createGraphics();
                g2d.drawImage(inImage, tx, null);
                g2d.dispose();
                // JPEG-encode the image and write to file.
                OutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(thumb);
                JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(os);
                encoder.encode(outImage);
                os.close();
            } catch (IOException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
        }I have tried other approaches from various posting I found off google such as:
        public static void scale(String filename, String outputfile, int width, int height)
                throws Exception {
            ImageIcon source = new ImageIcon(filename);
            double sf_x = width / (double) source.getIconWidth();
            double sf_y = height / (double) source.getIconHeight();
            System.err.println("Scale_factor_X: " + sf_x);
            System.err.println("Scale_factor_Y: " + sf_y);
            BufferedImage bufimg = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
            Graphics2D g = bufimg.createGraphics();
            g.setComposite(AlphaComposite.Src);
            AffineTransform aft = AffineTransform.getScaleInstance(sf_x, sf_y);
            g.drawImage(source.getImage(), aft, null);
            FileOutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(outputfile);
            JPEGImageEncoder enc = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(os);
            enc.encode(bufimg);
            os.flush();
            os.close();
        }No matter the implementation, the output is always the black image. I tried additional steps such as adding the JVM flag of:
    -Djava.awt.headless=true
    I've certainly spent a few hours on the google search engine and reviewing various newgroup posting, your suggestions come with many thanks.
    Cheers,
    Justen

    I tried your method and it worked okay. The only way I can get the black image is to send in a distorted path. One of the problems with the ImageIcon.getImage technique is that you get no feedback about loading failure. Here's a way to peek into the process for some indication of how it went. If you can tolerate j2se 1.4+ you could use the ImageIO methods in lieu of the proprietary JPGImageEncoder.
