Thumbnails are black

I just converted a bunch of stills from a clients camera: from .RW2 files to .tif, so I could edit a sequence of these photos.  there are about 100 stills we converted.  However, about half have no thumbnails, just black.  I've tried sliding the clips, setting an in point; all the things that change the icon when you are editing, but still just black.  Anybody have a way to make the thumbnails appear?  it will be difficult to have to double click each oe to see which one we need...

Quit FCP and trash your Thumbnail Cache. It will be rebuilt automatically the next time you start FCP7. If you don't know where your Thumbnail Cache is stored, go to the menu Final Cut Pro > System Settings and look on the Scratch Disk Tab. It will tell you where it is located there.

  • Video Thumbnails are Black Using Bing?

This might not be the best place to ask, but does anyone know why all of the video thumbnails are black when I search in Bing? When I hover over them, the preview starts, but other than that I can't see anything. How do I fix this?

Are you trying to view Silverlight or WMV content? If so, you need the appropriate internet plugin: Silverlight or something called "Flip4Mac."

  • Some Photo thumbnails are black, selecting them crashes app

Scattered throughout my Photos are dozens of photos with black thumbnails. When I select any of these, the image appears full screen but with the arrow overlay indicating that it's a video (which they aren't). One second later, the Photos app crashes.
I have tried un-syncing and removing all photos from the iphone and then re-syncing. I have tried removing them again, rebuilding my iPhoto library and re-syncing again.
The photos that are giving me problems appear to be perfectly fine in iPhoto.
Image 1 http://cl.ly/4Ry0 Overall Photos navigation
Image 2 http://cl.ly/4S29 Selected image incorrectly shown as a video. Just after this, Photos crashes.

    I'm having the exact issue.

  • In the organizer, the thumbnails are black

The thumbnails for video clips are all black, only showing a clip symbol.  JPEGs show fine.

I just started the Adobe Classroom in a Book for Premiere Elements 10 on a Windows 7 64bit platform and have the same issues with video thumbnails that are on the DVD that came with the book, which are also MP4s. I agree with maribob in that this really limits the Organizer's use, especially trying to use Adobe's own book for instruction. Amazing!

  • Updated to Mavericks, aperture 2.1.4 crashing and thumbnails are black

HELP! Just updated to mavericks and now my aperture 2.1.4 is playing up. It is either crashing all the time or sometimes when I am trying to edit I click on the thumbnail and a black picture comes up instead. Can see the image in the browser but in the viewer it is black! When I try to export the image as a JPEG it is a black JPEG. Should I just update to the latest Aperture? Will this solve the problem or are there problems with my library???

So I am going to attempt to upgrade today. First I need to buy another external hard drive to back up my library.
    Good.
Once you have the the external drive, check the formatting of the drive in Disk Utility. It needs to be formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled). If it is not formatted correctly, reformat it, see: Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture
Then drag your Aperture library to that drive, and also keep a copy of Aperture 2 on that drive, just in case.
What do you think about this -
I will then delete the current aperture library from my mac (as I dont want any corrupting files to be inserted into aperture 3).
Craete a new Aperture library, when you launch Aperture for testing, to see if Aperture is working well, but do not delete the original library immediately. If Aperture 3 is working well for, you will want to test, if your original library can be repaired and upgraded, and you should not try that on your only backup.

  • Thumbnails are completely blacked out

My thumbnails are completely blacked out (version XI). How can I make them show correctly?

It is happening on my Windows 8 computer at home and my windows 7 computer at work. I have adobe pro and reader XI at work and adobe reader XI at home. The documents I am trying to open are text books. I have contacted my school and they see them fine on their side, but I can't see them on mine so they told me it was a glitch on my side. They even resent me their document that opened correctly and I couldn't see it on my side.

  • Lion iPhotos are black - thumbnails are fine

    Hi
I bought a MacBook Pro two days ago. I transferred material from my MacBook running Snow Leopard. Then I installed Lion on the new MB Pro.
When I started up iPhoto the first time, Lion ran a translator program so the pics I'd transferred over via Migration Assistant would work with Lion. Now, the thumbnails are fine but most of the pictures are all black -- or blank -- when you click the thumbnails.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Closing the lid all the way on a Macbook or Macbook Pro puts the computer tp sleep.
    Hope this helps

  • Iphoto is showing most of my thumbnails as black

ok im on imac running 10.7.3 using iphoto 11 (9.2.1) with a 1Tb HD
My iphoto library is saved on my imac HD, and i do back up onto my external 1Tb HD using Time machine. However i can not go back and rebuild from that as i had a problem and i had to delete all saved backups to free up space on it as it stopped saving my backups. I am now desperately trying to free up space to allow the back ups to restart!!! As i can not afford another larger HD.
However i do have 1 back up of my entire 'pictures' folder from my HD, to an external HD which is 239Gb in size.
I opened up iphotos 3 days ago and for seemingly no reason - many of my thumbnails are showing up as black, Also the thumbnails of events are showing up black, when i lcick on them the actual photo is still there, so i am assuming its a thumbnails issue.
I have tried rebuilding the thumbnails and indeed the whole library, to no avail. i have reset permissions also no help it seems.
the more upto date thumbnails are fine it seems to be older thumbnails. which appear as above, as i say when i click them the actual photos appear no problem,
So i have tried rebuilding entire library - doesnt work,
have tried rebuilding just the thumbnails - as soon as i do this it then begins to try to find the thumbnails and rebuild
    i then get this message
I click cancel (as it just wont find the photo if i try to), but then another alert comes up and another etc etc etc, after 5 hours the progress wasnt even visible after 2 days it was just visible as a tiny blue progress bar!!!!!!!!
So i am now at a loss, i have tried rebuilding via library manager, but for some reason this just crashes!!!!!!
as you can see i have 26,000 photos as i do this for a living.
If anyone has any ideas on how i can restore my thumbnails would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you in advance

    Hi Terence,
i was wondering if you might be able to offer me any more advice on my options for my iphoto library.
I have tried rebuilding however it takes 3-4 days just to doa small percentage of the entire library - meanwhile i cant use my mac, as im worried it will crash and ill have to start all over again.
All the actual photos are there, just not the thumbnails!!!!!!!!!!
    1. Could i start a new library from a back up??? And would i need to delete the exsisting one or do i just drag the iphotos folder into the main window?
    2. Could i start a new library from just dragging the the photos, or iphoto folder?? which one should i drag across to start a new library?
Any other ideas would be very helpful.
    thank you

  • My iPhotos all are black with an exclamation point

After two years on Macbook Pro and using iPhoto, my 5,000 photos are black with an explanation point.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Movie thumbnails are blank on webpage but play okay

I am using iWeb 08 and am very pleased except for one thing. My movie thumbnails are blank. They have a little icon in the corner and they play okay but there is no picture (except on one of them)
    Here's the link: http://web.mac.com/dregerfamily/Site/HomeMovies/HomeMovies.html
I have tried deleting them, making a new page, etc but still nothing. Please help.
    Thanks!

Thanks! I realized the thumbnail was black because almost all of my movies started with a black screen. Your suggestion was perfect!!
One thing though, it seems like the movies load slower now. Could that have had any effect or am I just imagining it?
    Thanks again.

  • Thumbnails are not displayed correctly in Firefox, but displayed correctly in Safari and G. Chrome

Firefox display problems regarding this customers site:

Thumbnails are not displayed correctly in Firefox - only a tiny bit of the picture is visible, incorrect scale (displayed correctly in Safari and Google Chrome).
Can I do anything to make it work in Firefox, too?

  • Thumbnails are not displaying in LR4.4 64bit on I7 laptop with 16gb ram

I cannot get thumbnails to display the image in library mode. I can click on develop on a particular blank thumbnail (blank thumbnails are dislayed and they are numbered).

  • New Tab Page - thumbnails are not using the files from cache folder, but they want a connection to their origin website.

    Hi there,
each time I visit a website, FireFox saves a thumbnail of all these sites for the "New Tab Page". Those thumbnails are cached in the 'thumbnails' Folder . That's so far ok for me.
    The problem is:
Every time if I use the "New Tab Page" (...after shutdown & reopening the browser and only with 'mousehoover' on any thumbnail) all the thumbnails on that page don't use the cached thumbnails from the local profile folder.
    This means:
Instead of using the cached thumbnail-files all(!) these thumbnails dials to their origin websites without(!) a mouseclick on any of these thumbnails (...see jpg pictures) !
I'm using the "Clear history when Firefox closes" with the following options:
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.cache - true
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.cookies - true
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.downloads - false
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.formdata - true
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.history - false(!)
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.offlineApps - false
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.passwords - true
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.sessions - true
    privacy.clearOnShutdown.siteSettings - false(!)
So, i can't believe that this homedialing of pinned and unpinned thumbnails should be a normal function.
    1. Screenshot: thumbnails in the New Tab Page
    2. Screenshot: the same thumbnails in the Cache Folder "thumbnails" (...also they are there after shutdown of Firefox)
    3. Screenshot: Dialing to the origin websites (...after restart of Firefox)
The Browser Version is Firefox ESR 31.2.0 and in the installation are no Add-ons, which are - for example - prefetching linked websites.
I would like to use the "New Tab Page" without 'homedialing', so the question is:
How can I force the thumbnails to use the cached thumbnail-files ?
    or
How can i disable the 'loading of content from their origin websites' already on mousehoover ?

There is a preload pref available that you could try to disable on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    *browser.newtab.preload = false
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
