Thumbnails do not appear with XI

All the new pdf's that I have created from my Canon DR-M160 scanner do not have thumbnails using XI
The pdf's had thumbnails when using X.
I am probably explaining this poorly.
But I got thumbnails from scanned documents yesterday under X.
Today, after installing XI I don't get thumbnails, only icons.

Update.
I tried printing from a Word docx to create a pdf.
Strangly, Adobe did not appear as a printer selection.
Very strange because it was there before I upgraded to XI.
I don't know what really happened, but I was dragging and dropping .docx files and .xlsx files onto the Adobe icon on my desktop.
I got an error message.
BUT eventually Windows popped up with a dialogue box that looked like it was installing something related to a printer.
Then in .docx and .xlsx Adobe APPEARED as a printer option.
I then printed docx and xlsx files and the thumbnails appeared VERY NICELY.
So, I scanned a document and the thumbnail appeared very nicely as well.
That is the best I know how to explain it.
Final resuls is satisfactory.
I get pdf thumbnails from scanned documents and from docx and xlsx documents printed to the Adobe printer.

  • On certain sites, some lines have the lower half missing. Changing the font or its size does not help. The error does not appear with Iceape or Chromium.

On some sites certain lines appear with the bottom half missing, as if obliterated. Changing the font or its size does not help. The error does not appear with Iceape or Chromium.

I looks that the whole line doesn't fit in the container, so the bottom part is cut off. The usual cause is that a font is used that takes more vertical space, so any increase or changes from the font in what the website prescribes can cause this issue. I've seen web pages that were even affected by changing the minimum font size from none to 1 (!). If you do not have the font installed that the website specifies then Firefox will fallback to another (default) font that may have different dimensions.

  • Chapter Markers with thumbnails do not appear on Share to DVD

I am using Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 and am producing a DVD for a 1:58 minute dance recital.  There are 2 acts and for each act I created seperate projects to make it easy to group the two camera content.    Each act has 25 - 30 performaces and using the Marker command I added a Chapter Maker at the start of each new song with a custom title.
Once I had both Acts created as two projects, I then created a Compond Clip for each and then created a new project called DVD Master and droped the two compond clips into the timeline.    I confirmed the chaptermarks and the names and thumnail locations are intact in both.
Next I go back to the project view - select the DVD Master Project and goto Share/DVD - The dialog shows both the settings and optiosn for a black or white menu and when I click on the Chapter I see a mini thumbnail that shows the menu but they are all labeled Chapter 1, 2, 3, etc  no custom names.
I go ahead and render the DVD to a HD Image file, and when I launch the DVD play the disc plays fine but the chapter names do not show up, the chapter menu for that matter does not show, and on the player when I hit the forward button I jumps to Chapter 1, 2, 3 etc    - No names or thumbnails.
What do you think I am doing wrong here?

The chapter markers are "inside" each compound. When you place these compounds in a new project timeline, they do not automatically migrate or bubble up to the new project. You may get a clue to that by simply looking at the timeline: no markers are visible!
This may be confusing, since you are allowed to put chapter markers anywhere.
But in the end only the chapter markers that are placed directly in the timeline from which you export will be present in the dvd. Bottom line is: you have to place this markers in your final project timeline.
One other option is to not use compounds at all; instead copy and paste everything from each subproject directly to the master project. This way the markers will be at the top level of your project and they will work. The drawback, of course, is that you get a complex timeline without the neatness of hiding each part inside a compound.

  • NEF thumbnails will not appear in CS3 Bridge

My XP machine crashed and I was forced to get a Vista machine. Vista 64 bit 7gb RAM and 640GB HD.
I downloaded the latest ACR 4.6 and that allowed me to see and edit NEF files in PS but in CS3 Bridge I cannot see the thumbnails only the NEF icon. I can double click and the NEF file will open in PS and I can edit as usual. I have tried clearing the cache' in the "tools" and it will give me a flash of some of the NEF thumbnails but that is all just a split second flash. I can see the metadata information just no thumbnail preview. JPEG's are fine.
    HELP!!!

    Hi:
I was having the same problem with vista 64 bit, PS CS3, bridge v. 4.6, creating thumbnails for Canon 50D.  Your suggestions above to purge not only the camera raw preferences cache but also the regular preferences cache did the trick!  Even though I have 3GB set for cache, it must have filled up.  The thumbnails created instantly.
I had already checked for multiples of the plug-in but that wasn't it.  ONly after I purged the general program cache did the thumbnails appear.
I knew it had to be something arcane like that as I also have CS3 installed in Win XP 32 bit, with the 4.6 ACR, and it creates thumbnails without any problem!
So thanks very much, you solved my problem, and I'd tried a lot of different suggestions.
It is counterintuitive I think that the program gives you three different places, tools, ACR and Bridge preferences.      No wonder people have problems sorting simple problems like this out

  • Photoshop mix files not appearing with iPhone upgrade

    Hi,
i have a new iPhone and the Photoshop mix files are not showing up with the app. I checked the usage from the old phone to the new one and the data is there. It just isn't being accessed by the app. The phone upgrade went from iOS 7 to 8. Also the app seems to know my login, it just isn't importing my data, which is there.
is there anything I can do?
    thank you for any suggestions.
    Kathy

    Hi dj_paige,
    Thanks very much for replying.
Unfortunately neither your's or ManiacJoe suggestions worked. Investigating further if I remove all Library Filters it appears amongst all the other photos. However if I then filter by keyword the original file appears but not the amended TIF file. This is despite the fact that the filter tells me that there's 39 photos but there are only 38 showing. Something is not getting updated at the right time.
    Any other ideas?
Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Thumbnails are not appearing

My library is still intact, however, my thumbnails are appearing as a white box with a gray dotted line. If I click on the box to open them, then they are there. I took my computer into an Apple store 2 days ago, they reset the computer and it was working fine. however, once again, I am having the same problem. How do I reset the computer to fix this problem and why does this keep happening?

  • JSPM window does not appear with X11 forwarding

    Hello guys,
I am using the putty with ssh-2 and X11 forwarding enabled, but the window from the JSPM does't appear or is damaged.
Is it not possible to use the JSPM with X11 forwarding? Do you have any other suggestions, like real X?
    Thanks

I tried to access the Mixer from both the drop down menu below the right side panel and top of the interface on 8.0. Then I loaded 9.0. Same test same result first time around.
Then I read your note and tried both places again and the top of the interface worked in 9.0!  Now both locations work in both versions. Weird.
Thanks very much for the response.

  • Thumbnails do not appear after import

Hi - I just tried to import photos from a card to iPhoto '09. After the import, I noticed that the thumbnails (and pictures) do not show up in the iPhoto screen. I checked the "originals" folder, and they did copy to there. I tried to "import" from the originals folder, but iPhoto said that the pictures were already in the library. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this?
FYI - my library and all originals are stored on an HP Mediasmart server. I have iPhoto pointed to the library on the server.
    Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
What is the format of the HP Media server? Many people have had many problems when the iPhoto library is on a disk that is not formated Mac OS extended (journaled)
Did the import appear to go normally?
    What does appear?
Also note that it is advised not to be going into the iPhoto library directly via the finder or via other programs
And iPhoto will not import photos from inside the iPhoto library (to do so would create duplicates)

  • Names not appearing with contacts on iPhone 4 after adding iPad Mini

Yesterday we added my daughter's iPad Mini to my account, synced it up in iTunes and used the cloud.  She deleted a bunch of my contacts from her iPad.  Now they are not in my contact list on my phone.  However, if I start to type a text I see their names but when I select the name and start typing, the name disappears and I only see their number.  Also, if I look at my list of recent texts the names that sent them are all gone and just their numbers appear.  Does anyone know how I can reconnect the names with the numbers and also restore my contact list?  Thank you in advance!

Well I answered my own question.  I just deactivated all the other accounts on my iPhone except iCloud, and all the duplicates disappeared.  Before I did this, I merged duplciate cards on the MacBook Pro (from the Contacts Card menu selection).  iCloud needs to be selected as the default account on all your devices, and it seems that other accounts need to be deactivated.  Be careful - deactivating an account also erases entries associated with only that account.

  • Why does the properties menu not appear with the templates?

    Hi,
This is a bit hard to explain but maybe someone will get it.
If you draw a div on your deisgn window 'draw AP div' then
click somewhere on that div again, in the design window, then you
get a list of properties at the bottom such as width, height, top,
    left, z-index etc....ok.
Now if i load the '3 column hybrid header and footer
template' and click on any div on the deisgn window of this
template then i dont get this properties menu at the bottom. The
width in the css template are set in 'em' btw if that matters.
Now i am thinking there is a fundmental difference betwee the
divs in the template than drawing a div using the 'draw AP div'
    tool.??
It's kinda of like the templates are using pure css whereas
the AP div is a mixture, ok i am sure i am WAY of the mark here and
this is just a little thing. Can someone explain?
    thanks for any advice!

    > Now if i load the '3 column hybrid header and footer
    template' and click
    > on
    > any div on the deisgn window of this template then i
    dont get this
    > properties
    > menu at the bottom.
That's because the div *you* created was Absolutely
    Positioned, and there is
a specific inspector for absolutely positioned elements. But
    the divs in
the 3-column hybrid header and footer are NOT absolutely
    positioned and so
you do not get the special inspector. If you are not sure
    about the
difference between absolutely positioned and non-positioned
    elements, then
you would be well advised to NOT use absolute positioning
    until you do. It
will create big problems for you if you ignore this.
    > The width in the css template are set in 'em' btw if
    that matters.
That makes the container expand in width as the font size is
    expanded by the
visitor, which is what is meant by the 'hybrid' term in the
    sample file's
    name.
    > Now i am thinking there is a fundmental difference
    betwee the divs in the
    > template than drawing a div using the 'draw AP div'
    tool.??
Yes, definitely. This may help you understand positioning a
    bit -
There are 4 different types of positioning:
    Absolute
    Relative
    Fixed
    Static
Here is a brief explanation of each kind of positioning (with
    regard to
placement of elements on the page only)....
    Position:absolute (or A/P elements)
    This does several things -
    1. It 'removes' the element from the flow of the code on
    the page so that
it can no longer influence the size or position of any other
    page element
(except for those contained within it, of course).
    2. The absolutely positioned element takes its position from
    the position of
its closest PARENT *positioned* element - in the
    absence of any explicitly
positioned parent, this will default to the <body> tag,
    which is always
    positioned
at 0,0 in the browser viewport.
This means that it doesn't matter where in the HTML code the
    layer's code
appears (between <body> and </body>), its
location on the screen will not
change (this assumes that you have not positioned the A/P
    element within
a table or another A/P element, of course).
    Furthermore, the space in
    which
this element would have appeared were it not positioned
    is not preserved
on the screen. In other words, absolutely positioned elements
    don't take
up any space on the page. In fact, they FLOAT over the page.
    Position:relative (or R/P elements)
In contrast to absolute positioning, a relatively positioned
    page element is
*not* removed from the flow of the code on the page, so
    it will use the
    spot
where it would have appeared based on its position in
    the code as its
zero point reference. If you then supply top, right,
    bottom, or left
    positions
to the style for this element, those values will be
    used as offsets from
    its
    zero point.
This means that it DOES matter where in the code the
    relatively positioned
element appears (, as it will be positioned in that location
    (factoring in
the offsets) on the screen (this is true for any placement in
    the code).
Furthermore, the space where this element would have
    appeared is
preserved in the display, and can therefore affect the
    placement of
succeeding elements. This means that the taller a relatively
positioned element is, the more space it forces on the page.
    Position:static
As with relative position, static positions also "go with
    the flow". An
element with a static position cannot have values for
    offsets (top, right,
left, bottom) or if it has them, they will be ignored. Unless
    explicitly
positioned, all div elements default to static positioning.
    Position:fixed
A page element with this style will not scroll as the page
    content scrolls.
Support for this in elements other than page backgrounds is
    quirky
There are several other things you need to know:
    1. ANY page element can be positioned - paragraphs, tables,
    images, lists,
    etc.
    2. The <div> tag is a BLOCK level tag. This means that
    if it is not
positioned or explicitly styled otherwise, a) it will always
    begin on a new
line on the screen, and b) it will always force content to a
    new line below
it, and c) it will always take up the entire width of its
    container (i.e.,
    width:100%).
    3. The placement of A/P elements *can* affect the BEHAVIOR of
    other
    elements
on the page. For example, a 'layer' placed over a hyperlink
    will mask that
    hyperlink.
You can see a good example of the essential difference
    between absolute and
    relative positioning here -
    http://www.great-web-sights.com/g_layersdemo.asp
You can see a good demonstration of why using layers for a
    page layout tool
    is dangerous here -

  • Some email attachments not appearing with EAS

We have a vb.net script that runs a report, exports the report as a .png file, and then emails the file as an attachment.  The attachment shows up and is readable by everything (outlook, gmail, blackberry, iphone, etc...) except for my EAS account on the Palm Pre. I'm running webOS version 1.3.5.1.
My EAS account syncs with Zimbra and not Exchange server.  I have tried removing the account and re-creating it with no luck.  If I have the script e-mail my gmail account and then I forward it to my EAS account from gmail, the attachment appears just fine.
So for some reason, EAS on the Palm Pre is filtering the attachment when it comes directly from the script.  Is there some kind of meta data or header information that needs to be included in order for the Pre to see attachments?
    Please help!

Do you know of any policy or filters setup on the EAS server? Reason I ask is the Pre is more strict with Policy's. If you remember when the device first came out, it would only work with SSL connections setups. We have made steps to reduce strictness of the policy's with out OTA updates, but the Pre is still more strict with EAS servers than other devices.
At this point I would check with your IT or if you are the IT look at the filter/policy setup.
