Thumbnails don't match underlying photos

I recently migrated my system from my MacBook Pro using iPhoto 08 to my new MacMini using iPhoto 09. Now, my thumbnails are different than the underlying photo. When I click on a thumbnail, an entirely different picture comes up. Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • Thumbnails don't match my photos

    Hi,
I've noticed a number of photos in iphoto (latest version) all suddenly have the same thumbnail of a particular photo (in some case 30 or 40 photos have the same thumbnail). When I click on the thumbnail I see the real photo but when I use the photo to try to print a photobook the corrupted photo appears.
Does anyone know how I can reset my iphoto folder to rebuild the thumnails from the photos or is this a known bug.
    Thanks a lot

    Hey Tony,
Follow this article to rebuild your iPhoto Library: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638
-- Be sure you have a backup of your library before you rebuild (as the article indicates)
-- I would first choose the check box for Examine and repair permissions and then once that is complete go back and do the options for thumbnails.
    Hope that helps.

  • Thumbnail doesn't match actual photo

Something very strange is going on with my iPhoto. I have just imported some photos but when you click on the thumbnail, it expands to a completely different photo! Its therefore impossible to see the full size photo of a particular thumbnail/preview. Any ideas what has happened? help!

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

  • I selected some photos on my PC for home sharing but they don't appear under Photos on my iPad. What am I doing wrong?

Problem sharing Photos between Windows PC and iPad2.

The home network has to be working, there are settings on the iPad for the network sharing over your home network.
If your trying to move files this way, I'm not sure you can actually move them but you should be able too "SEE" them from the iPad.
Someone will be along to clarify that some more for you, good luck.

  • Thumbnails dont match slideshow photos.

When I make a new slideshow (manually) the thumbnails shown at the botttom are quite different from the photos showing in the slideshow.  -Some are completely different -some have some of the same photos as the slideshow and some different ones -but the thumbnails still don't match the photo being displayed. How do I fix this up?

  • My thumb nails don't match the picture it represent.

I am having a problem with AP . most of my thumbnails don't match the pictures they represent and some time even the preview for brief sec will be wrong and then quickly change to the right picture.
any help here would be great

I came up with the same fix a while back, but I just moved them instead of copying them. It worked, but I like your method better because it seems safer.

  • IPhoto thumbnails & images don't match

Yesterday when I opened iPhotos a message came up warning that I needed to rebuild my thumbnails. I wasn't worried about this (I have gotten the message before) & clicked OK. Today while adding some photos to iPhoto I noticed thumbnail images don't match the actual images on file. What can I do to restore things so that all matches.

Note that you posted this question in the iPhoto '08 (version 7.x.x) forum - it is better if you post in the correct forum - iPhoto 6 - http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1116 - as the answers to some questions will be different between the two versions and it is very easy for a user to miss the version listed in your text since they assume that all posts in the iPhoto '08 forum are concerned with iPhoto '08

  • Thumbnails not matching underlying pictures

When I open an event in iPhoto '08 the thumbnails do not consistently reflect the underlying photo. When I double-click the thumbnail, a different picture come up, the one that matches the ID info.
I have a relatively large file (over 20K pix) stored on a USB drive attached to a Time Capsule so it can be accessed from various Macs, all running OS 10.5.5.
Is there a way to rebuild the thumbnails? I am running the most recent version of iPhoto so the option of waiting for the automatic rebuild with an update isn't in play.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks!

    When I option-launch iPhoto,
What you’re missing is the apple key
*hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys* while launching iPhoto.
The Apple key is also called the Command ket, it’s located just left of the Space Bar.
Re other users, just me. I only access the Library from one machine at a time to prevent corruption.
But are you editing or organising over a Wireless connection?

  • I still don't totally understand the difference on my iPhone between PhotoStream (with iCloud icon), Photos (the icon) and Albums and Camera Roll (under Photos icon) and and Camera Roll (under Camera icon).  I want to delete photos from my iPhone 4.

I  don’t  understand the difference on my iPhone between PhotoStream (with iCloud icon), Photos (the icon) and Albums and Camera Roll (under Photos icon) and and Camera Roll (under Camera icon).  They seem to be more or less the same thing, but deleting photos in one place does not delete them elsewhere.
When I tried to import from my camera to my iMac computer the computer would not recognized 900 of the 920 photos on the camera so I had to (successfully) use the Image Capture application to import them.
I want to delete photos from my iPhone 4 in order to free up storage (I only have 8GB.)  But in synching I do not want to delete any images from my iPhoto on my computer.
Is there a way that I can Delete All under Edit in either Photos or Camera on my iPhone and check about 20 ijmages to remain on the iPhone?  I could find no command to Select All and then uncheck the 20 photos I want to keep.
I have the 8GB iPhone and the iMac with OS 10.9.2 and iPhoto '09 Version 8.1.2.
    Help!

I have Version 6.1.3 because the clogged storage will not allow me to upload Version 7.1.  Catch 22.  This is basically a storage issue, I believe.  I cannot delete enough stuff on my iPhone to allow me to either back up or upload the new OS 7.  I am unwilling to pay for more storage in iCloud, so I want to delete stuff I don't need.  But I haven't yet figured out how to successfully do that.  I synch my phone and computer.  I want to delete mail on the Mail app and photos and still keep my photos on my computer on iPhoto, but not on my phone.  I seem unable to do that.  Any advice?

Could someone help me restore my photos?  I was trying to "restore my database" in iPhoto when it shut down - now my thumbnails are distorted, logged under a new name, and when you click on a thumbnail it opens as another photo.  I was following another "helpful hint" hold down the option and command key and restart iPhoto - select the top three and you should be able to get rid of the dreaded exclamation point.  My MAC ran through the first two options dealing with thumbnails, but crashed during the "restore database"  step and now I have a mess.  Help, please.  Thank you.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • HT204022 i have several copies of my photos on my ipad under photos not photo stream    There is no delete button when I tap the duplicate photos.  How do I delete these pleas?

I have 4 and 5 copies of my photos under photos on my ipad.  I do not have a delete button to delete them.  Also, my icloud is upto date but my new photos are no longer streamimg to my photo stream.

Before deleting anything be sure they are actually duplicate photos.  If you create an album on your phone, then add photos to it from your camera roll, the photos in the album are not duplicates; they only contain links to the actual photos in camera roll.  (Albums are like music playlists; they don't contain the actual photo but just a link to it so that you can look at a subset of your photos.)  Thus, if you delete the photo from the camera roll it will be deleted from all albums that may have contained it (just as a song would be deleted from any playlist that contained it if you deleted the song from your music library).
Similarly, photos synced to your iPad from your computer are all contained in the photo library.  Just like albums created on your phone, any albums synced to your phone will only contain links to the actual photos in the photo library.  If you delete the photo from the photo library, it will be deleted from any albums that may contain it as well.  This video may help explain this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60MevRF53ck&feature=channel&list=UL.
All that said, you can delete photos from the camera roll by either opening them individually and tapping the trash can icon, or by opening the camera roll in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, tapping all the photos you want to delete, then tapping the Delete button at the bottom.   To delete photos synced to your iPad from your computer you have to delete them by connecting your iPad to your computer, going to the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings, unchecking the photos you no longer want on your iPad, then syncing.  Photos in photo stream are deleted by opening the photo, then tapping the trash can icon.

  • Payments and Bills don't match

    Hi,
the activation fee for my verizon double play bundle was supposed to be split in three parts. I have made the three respective payments as shown in the payment history.
However, under Bill & Payment, I can only find two bills and the third is still due including the third activation fee payment.
Could you please elaborate why these bills don't match my payment history?

  • How do you down load a previous purchase from iTunes. The help instructions don't match what is on the iTunes My Purchased list.

How can previous purchases be downloaded. The help instructions don't match what is on the page of the previous purchases.

What you can redownload will depend upon what country that you are in - music, films and TV programmes can't be redownloaded in all countries, audiobooks and ringtones are one-time only downloads. What you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (if content providers/rights-holder have removed items from the store then they also won't show for redownloading)

  • I cannot get photos placed in InDesign CS5 to show up only as grayscale/black. When a separation is done, part of the photos show up on both parts of the color separation. I've been hunting for a solution for hours.

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.
