Thumbnails for PDF-Documents

Hi,
I want to use "thumbnails"-property (rnd:thumbnail) for PDF-Documents. Do I need an extra plug-in?

Hi Mark,
as far as I know the BADIs here are used to connect a special converter which is able to convert PDF files into useable thumbnail formats.

Very Slow Load Times for PDF Document

Hi,
I have a PDF document that takes forever to load in preview (on the order of a minute or more). It is eight pages, but when I try to go to the last two pages, each of which has a drawing created by using Autoshapes in Microsoft Word, again they take a minute or more to load.
The document looks to have been created by Acrobat 6 for Windows from a MS Word document. Adobe Reader 7.0.7 on another machine loads the document correctly and speedily (well, as speedily as Adobe Reader can...).
Are there known problems with this type of graphics, MS Word drawings, in a PDF document? Is there any way I can make the document load faster?

Possible to generate xmp thumbnails for PDF files in Acrobat?

Hi,
Apps from the Creative Suite 5.5 allow to embed a tiny preview (as XMP thumbnail) when saving to some .ai .indd or .pdf file. However, I could not find the option in Acrobat X Pro.
Such XMP thumbnails prove useful when visually browsing through PDF documents in Windows' explorer. I'm surprised Acrobat X lacks such a feature whereas other apps from the Suite do it fine.
Please not I'm not talking about embedding page previews, this is a completely different topic.

I don't see thumbnails for PDF files in my Windows Explorer

When browsing through my File Manager to look for files, I used to be able to see a thumbnail of any PDF files I'd saved.
I can still see the old ones created earlier, but my more recent files just show a black square with the Adobe 'A' in bottom right hand corner or sometimes a large Adobe 'A' on white field with "PDF" in top left corner.
Seeing a thumbnail I think helps to find your file. Does anyone know why I don't get them any more or how to get them back. (The save a thumbnail option is checked for normal word docs, but not visible when saving as PDF.
I am using Mic Office 2010 (Word) to save as PDF. My computer is Windows 7 64bit.
Interesting, I can see a preview of PDF files which is a help, but not individual thumbnails for my more recent files....can still see them for older, longer ago saved PDFs.

Just checked, I last had thumbnails in December 2011, January 2012 I stopped getting them.
Tried to insert a picture to show you what I get in explorer, but just get a big dark grey square so I'll explain. Just worked out the following.
Prior to end of 2011 my PDFs have a thumbnail.
After that I just have a black square with the Adobe 'A' in bottom right hand corner if I create PDF with Word
If I do 'Save As' while in the reader I get a large Adobe 'A' on white field with "PDF" in top left corner

How do you change default settings for Pdf document viewing?

Somehow the default setting for all my PDF documents and photos is now ColorSync. How do I change the main default setting, which I think should be Safari?

The default is Preview, and you change it thus:
Select a pdf file, rightclick and select 'Get Info', in the pane that opens scroll down to the section marked 'Open With', select Preview and check the box to 'Change All'

We are generating PDF documents from SAP system and distributing them as email attachment. just want to know if anyhow we can enforce the password protection while generating these documents or may be setting the password protection before distribution. If yes, then what are the requirements/essentials for the same?

I have no clue on this i.e. whether we can integrate Adobe Policy Server. My understanding was in it's current state it is NOT possible to have secured PDF Forms.

Well what you can do is hide all the elements in the form and keep only a TextField visible. Now write a script and check the value entered in the TextField. If it matches with the default password you want to set then make the form visible else display error prompt back to user.

Default for PDF documents

The default to open a pdf document always goes to "preview", which frequently marks the file as un readable. i have to save the pdf to a folder, then go in and "Open with" adobe. How do i change the default for any document with a .pdf subscript to automatically open with Adobe?

For PDF documents the "archive as" button do not appear but only the "active" button. Please help me?

My "achive as" button do not appear when im trying to save a scanned PDF document but only the "achive" button. Do anyone know why?
I have tried seraching the internet for answer but without any result.
A solution to the prblem is to press doublicate and then "archive" then i get the option to save in a specific loaction (notice that even after doublicating i don't get the option to archvie as). This is a quick fix but would like to know how to fix the problem probably.
Here is some background
-The problem also appears on exsisting pdf document and documents from other users.
- i open it in apple standard preview program
- The problem appaered 6 months ago after and general apple software upgrade.
- I don't have any "download" folder in my finder menu ( I don't know if this is a relevant information but could have somthing to do with the settings i.e. as administor even though it is my own mac).
Please help me before i will go completly CRAZY, it is super frustrating.

Send - "Page by Email" disabled for PDF document in IE

Hi,
We're currently running 10g reports, through 10g Application Server (Forms&Reports) and producing PDF documents that are displayed in Internet Explorer.
When viewing the report output the send "Page by Email" function is disabled. My outlook works fine and I've checked that my Email client is set to outlook in IE program settings.
Anyone have any ideas on what I need to do to enable the "Page by Email" function?
Note: I've also noticed that the View -> Source function is disabled.

Oh, before I forget View -> Source for a PDF document being disabled makes sence because its not a HTML document. PDF documents are viewable via a browser only with that to the downloadable pluggable com object that adobe (and other pdf reader software providers) provides us with.
