    I get this pop up when trying to create a photo book through the iPhoto store.
    "Some or all of the photos you selected were downloaded from your published albums. You can only view these photos. To use them in an album or a slideshow or project, you must import them to your photo library."
    The photos I have selected have already been imported so how and why do I do it all over again?
    What do they mean by published albums?  I categorize them into photo albums for organizational purposes after I import them from my camera or phone. So why can't I put them into a book now?
    I have over 400 photos selected for a photo book for my child's graduation gift so how can I tell which photos I have to do this to?
    Please help. Any insight wouyld be appreciated.
    Confused and frustrated...

    Give this a try:  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

    I was trying to Import photos from my Facebook photo to my MacBookAir and now all i got is lots of back round photo. Please Help me out to delete them.Some or all of the photos you selected were downloaded from your published albums. You can only view these photos. To use them in an album or a slideshow or project, you must import them to your photo library.

    What that's telling you is that some of the photos you want to use are not in your Library but online in a gallery you have linked to. You need to download them first.

  • Difference between a Flickr or MM /published/ album and a "normal" album?

    I'm wondering if there is a difference between a Published Album listed under "MobileMe" or "Flickr" and a "normal" Album.
    The reason I ask is because I want to keep track of what I have published in an Album and I am keeping a "normal" Album with all the images that are then published to my published Album.
    The way I have been publishing an Album is by selecting all the images in this Album which then show up in a published Album.
    The way I have been /updating/ images is by dragging and dropping images to the normal album and then /also/ placing these in the published Album so they are also publicly available. But this seems very redundant and I think I may be missing the idea that a published Album under Flickr or under the MobileMe headings behaves exactly the same as a normal one...so I can delete the intermediate Album...
    Anyone able to clear this up for me?
    Thanks.

    Jon,
    since I am not using Flickr, I was hoping someone else would be willing to take on your repeated question.
    I can only answer the part of the question regarding MobileMe galleries.
    Your album in the Mobile Section differs considerably from the regular albums, and so I'd recommend to keep your intermediate album for several reasons:
    The MobileMe album is synced with MobileMe. Any changes you apply to it outside Aperture will be reflected in your Aperture view of the album. So if you change the album on one machine, it will change on other machines too. If people add to your MobileMe album, you will see these images in the MobileMe section and you can import these pictures into a project in your Library. So the MobileMe albums are more like an interface to your gallery than regular albums.
    MobileMe may be offline, and then you will want your regular album for access.
    MobileMe will be gone at the end of June next year, see OldToad's count down, so you need to be prepared to move on to a different host for your galleries, and then it will be good to have your local album.

  • Getting an error of limit of 500 photos for published album when trying to upload to Flickr

    I'm trying to upload to my Flickr Pro account and I am now getting an error message saying:
    "You may put a maxiumum of 500 photos in this published album. Only the first 500 photos will be added to this published album. If you want to publish more photos, publish another album."
    This happens only when I'm trying to upload to a specific set which has 111 photos on Flickr. If I try to send to another set, it works. I can work around this, but I'd like to figure out what's going on.
    What does this actually mean, and how am I able to continue to publish to the correct Flickr set?
    Thanks.

  • Update to 4.2 has deleted all my published albums content from Lightroom...

    Does anyone know how to resync published albums? All my published albums (all still untouched on my photoshop.com gallery) no longer have the published photos in them inside Lightroom. The folder architecture is untouched. I am worried that a sync will simply delete all photos published online...how to restore the albums content to pre 4.2 update status?

    Whatever catalog you opened/worked with last will be the one that is used the next time you open Lightroom. Thus, this backup is now your default. You don't have to move the file, but you are more than welcome to. You can't do it from within Lightroom though. You can do this though:
    1. Go to Lightroom > Catalog Settings (Mac OS) or Edit > Catalog Settings (Windows)
    2. Under the General tab, click the Show button to open a Finder (Mac OS)/Explorer (Windows) window of the folder containing your catalog.
    3. Leaving the Finder/Explorer window open, close Lightroom.
    4. Move the catalog file ([CatalogName].lrcat) and the previews file ([CatalogName] Previews.lrdata) to a new location.
    5. Double-click the catalog file. This will launch Lightroom using this catalog file in its new location (if you don't do this, Lightroom will ask you where the catalog file went the next time you launched it).

  • Thumbnails in Photoshop Album SE & disconnected files

    I need to know what I did wrong to avoid this from happening again AND I'm hoping there's a solution out there for me.
    (Please note, I am DESPERATE and am trying to salvage deleted photos.)
    Here's what happened: Part I: Turning thumbnails into working images.
    1. I connect a digital camera card reader to my computer to "download" photos using Adobe Photoshop Album SE.
    2. This has always worked fine, and then I modify the pics, which creates a file that has the original file name with the word "edited" in it.
    3. Recently, I went through the same process of connecting my card reader via USB, and "downloading" all my files into Photoshop Album SE.
    4. As per usual, I choose the download & delete setting.
    5. I decided I would edit some of the photos at a later date.
    6. When I reopened Photoshop Album SE last night, all the pictures I THOUGHT I had downloaded said they were "disconnected" showing a file path to the card reader, drive e. I was totally shocked. The files ALWAYS downloaded to c:/documents and settings/[my user name]/my pictures/adobe
    7. So this time I can see all the thumbnails in the "view all" setting of Adobe Photoshop Album SE, but cannot get to any of the pictures. I get the "disconnected" popup.
    I suspect I am screwed but I'm hoping someone can help me.
    I clearly see all the thumbnails in the "view all". Is there ANY WAY the thumbnail images can be converted to real images? Where are the thumbnails stored that Photoshop can show them and say they need to be reconnected to the source which, in this case, Photoshop DELETED when "downloading"?
    Which brings us to Part II: What the hell happened?
    You'll notice I keep putting "downloading" in quotes. When I say, "Get all pictures" from my card reader, I thought all my pictures were being copied into the album. That's the way it's always worked previously.
    Why didn't it work this last time? Was it a memory issue? Does Photoshop Album SE have a limit on how many photos can be loaded into any one album?
    Is that why it "captured" the images but didn't really download them?
    Any, and I mean, ANY assistance anyone can give me with this would be greatly appreciated. These particular photos I really, really need and staring at those thumbnails, unable to do anything with them is maddening.
    Thanks,
    Deidre

    Hi Zona,
    Do you have "System Restore" set up in Windows? I've actually never used it,
    but it appears it MIGHT be a possibility if you did NOT store the images in
    My Documents or a subfolder of it.
    See the following:
    "System Restore protects your personal files by not restoring any files in
    the My Documents folder. It also does not restore any files that use common
    data file name extensions, such as .doc or .xls. If you're not sure whether
    your personal files use common data file name extensions, and you do not
    want the data files to be affected by System Restore, save them in the My
    Documents folder."
    There are applications that can take previous "HDD images" (residual
    signatures) so that you can possibly recover your images, but you would need
    to take this to a special vendor for this. If the images are precious, this
    might be your best option. Obviously it will cost some money but I know this
    can be done... I just can't advise you on the where's and how's. You would
    need to contact vendors in your location.
    Cheers

  • Publishing Albums...ONE photo at a time?!?!?

    I have successfully published many events from iPhoto '08 to my MobileMe Gallery. However, I am not having the same success with the new album I created.
    When I follow the , MobileMe, Publish steps, only 1 photo from the entire album gets published (whichever one is highlighted at the time...usually the first one in the album). I thought perhaps I needed to "Select All", but that option is always grayed-out. When I tried to select each photo in the album, I was only able to shift/click only 8 at a time...which is just ridiculous.
    Seems I shouldn't have to select any photos individually, rather be able to ship the entire contents of the album off to publish.
    (Also, the previous step of dragging photos into the album was problematic...I could select a whole bunch to drag, but only 2 at a time would show up in the album. Wondering if you might be able to shed light on this too.)
    Thank you so much!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If the Select All if grayed out or if you open the album, click and drag to select all and the MobileMe button only selects on of the photos then you have a damaged library. First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
    If the above doesn't work launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #3 and #5. The try again.
    Click to view full size
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Captions under thumbnails in photo album

    Hi,
    I've been trying all sorts of things to get a simple caption
    under each thumbnail in a photo album. The page is on:
    http://www.georgeglazer.com/globes/table20/table20inv/table20inv.html
    This is the code for the thumbnail that I have tried to make
    work. The thumbnails all display and sort fine. But no captions
    appear:
    <div id="thumbnails" spry:region="dsInventory">
    <div spry:repeat="dsInventory"
    onclick="dsInventory.setCurrentRow('{ds_RowID}')" style="height:
    130px; width: 100px;">
    <img src="{tn}" alt="{title}" name="tn{ds_RowID}"
    id="tn{ds_RowID}" style="left: 0px; right: 0px; height: 100%;
    width: 100%;" />
    <p class="caption" style="width: 100px;"><span
    class="whitetext">{@maker}<br
    />${@price}</span></p>
    </div>
    <p class="ClearAll"></p>
    </div>
    Among the things I have tried that did not work are:
    1. Adding id="{ds_RowID}" to the <p> tag.
    2. Putting a spry:detailregion="dsInventory" div around the
    caption text.
    3. Using {maker} and {price} instead of {@maker} and
    {@price}.
    4. Changing the height in the spry:repeat tag to something
    larger than 130px, but that just distorted the thumbnails (which
    are exactly 130px each).
    Any help is welcome!
    Thanks,
    Helen

    Kin,
    Actually, I had omitted the @ signs originally, and it didn't
    work either way, but thanks for explaining that. I looked at the
    CSS for the div containing the thumbnail, and there's nothing
    limiting height (not specifically, anyway).
    Here is the CSS for the div containing the thumbnail:
    #thumbnails {
    clear: both;
    margin: 5px auto;
    #thumbnails div {
    position: relative;
    float: left;
    margin: 4px;
    padding: 0;
    display:inline;
    #thumbnails img {
    height: auto;
    width: auto;
    position: absolute; }
    ...and for the div that contains the thumbnail div:
    #previews {
    border-top: solid 1px #404040;
    border-right: solid 1px #404040;
    border-bottom: solid 1px #3a3a3a;
    border-left: solid 1px #404040;
    padding: 5px;
    margin-bottom: 5px; margin-right: 5px;
    float: left;
    I do have the overall size of the preview pane specified
    (style="width: 370px; height: 590px;") but that should be more than
    enough room for 5 photos with 2-line captions. Is it the relative
    or absolute positioning that may be the culprit?
    --Helen
    PS Let me assure V1Fusion that I did read everything
    previously posted in this forum about photo album captions prior to
    posting my question -- they all addressed the main image but not
    the thumbnail, nevertheless, I tried various things suggested in
    those posts before giving up figuring it out myself...

  • Publishing albums to Facebook duplicates events in iPhoto '09

    Hello,
    I am facing a strange issue, sometimes after publishing an album on facebook I found it duplicated in the Events section of iPhoto (sometimes immediately, sometimes after a few days).
    Is anybody else facing the same issue?
    Any hints about how to fix it?
    My library size is 68Gb, 27577 photos, 622 Events.
    Thanks,
    Michele

    Hi!
    when I want to publish on facebook I select the event and then click on the facebook icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Then it asks me if I want to publish and I click on the "publish" button.
    What do you mean by automatically?
    In Preferences->Web "Check for new published photos" it is set "Automatically"
    In Preferences->Advanced "Look up Places" is set to "Automatically"
    I did not find any "automatically" option anywhere else.
    Thanks for your help,

  • Album thumbnails on My Albums page appearing cropped

    Hi, I'm hoping someone can help with this. I'm trying to build a website using iWeb 08 and am using the My Albums feature to showcase samples of my work by type. However, for some reason the thumbnail that is being displayed for each album that I drag over from iPhoto is displaying only part of the first image in each album, rather than the whole thing. This is making the album page look pretty lousy. How can I amend it so that thumbnails feature an entire image, rather than just part of it? Thanks, Plockie.

    The "My Albums" template should give you a preview of the photos when you "mouse over" the album.
    At this time, it will only present landscape photos properly and not portrait.

  • Disappearing thumbnails and smart albums

    Hi to you all,
    I made a smart album of images that have missing faces data which works well. However, once I leave the smart album by selecting another project folder (that has images in it), I don't see any thumbnails in the browser view! The project has the total number of images in the folder but none are visible. I don't have any filters set either. The only way to view the thumbnails in a project is to restart AP. Seems it only happens when I select the smart album, add a few faces then click back to a project. Anyone had any issues like this? Can anyone replicate it? Thanks! Oh and I've repaired permissions, rebuilt the library

    There seems to be a glitch with Stacks and Smart
    Albums. If I base a smart album on a set of
    parameters and the photo is not the select of a stack
    it does not get selected for the smart album. For
    example if I make a select based on a client then
    choose later to make a 5 star rating out of the stack
    that is not the select it will not appear in the 5
    star library smart folder until I break the stack.
    So I have to go back to the original stack and break
    it to allow the search to work. Does anyone know
    how to fix this?
    In the parameters for the smart album you need to check "Ignore Stack Groupings".
    Be aware of an interesting issue you may run into later around this. If you drag a set of images out of a smart album that ignores groupings into a "normal" album that holds images, you will only see images that are also stack picks show up in the destination album. I have lobbied via feedback for Aperture to always make an image drug into an album from a smart album the "Album Pick" for that album to eliminate that exact problem.
    Another odd behavior of smart albums you may find useful is that whatever level you define a smart album at is the level it always searches, no matter where you move it after. So you can make a top-level smart album doing a search across many folders and projects, and keep it neatly stored under a different top level folder where if you had tried to put the smart album to start with it would not see images.

  • How to move thumbnail picture to album

    Bring up the Multitask bar by double clicking on the home button, search for the photo app icon, tap on it until it starts to shake, hit the minus icon in the left corner to close the app.
    Close the task bar again and start the photo app again, this time it should work.
