Thumbnails in Web DMS

hi dears,
i am configuring web dms, now my problem is, i am unable to get thumbnails in web dms for jpg, mbp files.If i open the same files in sap dms i am able to get thumbnails, when i open them in web page i am not getting thumbnails. I already defied applications for thumbnails in TC cvaw_cust. What is the problem and where exactly i need to configure to get thumbnails in web page.

Set Up Workstation Application for Thumbnails (Images)
Use
In this step, you define workstation applications for document types.
You can use these workstation applications in document management to display images that are assigned to a document info record (DIR) as thumbnails.
The workstation applications are used for display per document type in the sequence defined.
When displaying thumbnails, the system first takes the first Customizing entry. If the document of this document type has no image of this format, the system checks the next Customizing entry.
If there are no images with the formats defined in Customizing, no thumbnail is displayed.
Requirements
You have defined document types.
You have defined workstation applications.
Activities
To define workstation applications for thumbnails, proceed as follows:
1. Choose New Entries.
2. Enter a document type and a workstation application.
If you have defined more than one entry for a document type, you can define the sequence in which the system checks the entries and uses them to display thumbnails.
1. Place the cursor on an entry. In the structure, choose Change Sequence.
2. Use the arrow keys to move your entries to the position you require.
3. Save your entries.

Hi all

WEB DMS Error uploading file / create DIR

Hi SapGurus,
I have a problem creating new documents using WEB DMS, i remember trying to do it some time ago, and i could manually create the documents through WEB-DMS Create option choosing the configured document type,
but right now iam not able to upload any original file and create a NEW DIR, as it gives me an error message "an Error occurred while loading file" please suggest me what may be wrong with this now.
Also can we maintain standard SAP Object links while creating the DIR through WEBDMS, as iam not able to find the SAP Object link Tab / field while creating the DIR In WEB DMS,
(FYI, in the find documents we could find the document based on the SAP Object link Reference,) so i think there is an option to maintain SAP Object link details for the DIR getting created.

Hi Priya,
please note that in WebDocuments only the existing object links are displayed. Therefore not all maintained objects are visible but only those where links exists.
There are certain selected data sections in WebDocuments that are shown in display mode or in change mode. The following sections can only be displayed and not changed
- Data for Document key
- Data for Object Links
The following sections can be changed in WebDocuments
- Document Data
- Additional Data
- Originals
- Description
Hence when a Document Info Record is created or changed, the object links data are not shown. It is shown only in search and display mode. This is the way system is designed. You can look at the application help for more information on the web documents. Also kindly note that WebDocuments is not the complete replica of SAP GUI CV01n, CV02n or CV03n. It has some limitations when compared to SAP GUI transactions. So as no new links could be created in WebDocuments not all available objects are displayed.
I hope this information could be useful regarding the object link behavior in WebDMS.

Hi SAP Gurus,
i have some basic Quires to be clarified regarding WEB DMS,
Does Accessing documents through WEB DMS Documents require SAP Logon ID and Password, as i tried opening up the WEB DMS Link in different user System of my clients, but it did not ask them to enter there USER ID and Password, why is it so? is this normal behaviour? if not what is going missing?
once the user enters in to WEB DMS does all the SAP DMS authorization apply to restrict the particular User in accessing the documents, ( based on the authorization to access Document type, Lab Office, status autorization..... of the User ?
is there any developments or enancements allowed in WEB DMS Area?

yes you r right it may ask User ID and password at the initial generation of the WEB Link,
but i think when the same link will be used by all the users for accesssing the documents in WEB DMS, then it is not asking for UserID and Password.
So when any X Y Z Person uses the Link to access DMS Documents through WEB DMS, we now gave the the same link to all the users to get in to WEB-DMS,
so for each user who is authorised to access Documents in WEB-DMS, ideally should we create as many links as different users, using there user ID and password, so as to apply authorization concepts applicapable to each of them as defined through authorization control?
is my understanding right, require your inputs,
basically if a user does not have access to document type in SAP DMS, he should not have access to the documents in WEB DMS,

WEB DMS Office Document Access- Password Prompt

Dear All,
Business Users are Using MS Office 2007 and MS Office 2003
We have Configured WEB DMS for Development System
In SE80 when CVAW_ENTIRE is Executed and when DIR is Accessed there using Display/Change, All file formats are accesed fine without any password prompt,But While Opening Microsoft Office Documents(.doc,.docx,.xls,.xlsx,.ppt..pptx) from WEB DMS DIR it gives UserName Password Prompt (Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection))....
When i don't enter username and password and press cancel file opens in Read Only Mode...So, i need is by default file shoud open in read only mode without asking unnecessary Password Prompt...Above is applicable when MS Office 2007 is installed in local PC
For Office 2003 the problem is there for .xls,.xlsx,.ppt,.pptx files , however .doc files opens fine and does not ask for any password prompt and opens in read only mode directly.
The above both scenarios for Office 2007 & Office 2003 works fine with Mozilla Firefox Browser and does not prompt for any passwords.
Help is Required urgently

In SE80, pointing on "CVAW_ENTIRE->Pages with Flow Logic->index.htm", when I click on "Test/Execute", a webpage opens but throws an error:

If you can view ECLViewer in SAPGUI then no need to maintain seperate original viewer for webdms...
Please make sure that you have maintained application as
EAIWeb.webviewer2D.1 %SAP-CONTROL%
for *.dwg files in SPRO "Define workstation application in network"
also in SPRO at "setup webDMS (BSP)"
mention document types for which you are going to use *.dwg orignals.

Web-DMS activation

Dear all
I have activated the web-dms using SICF, then went to bc-bsp and activated "cvaw_entire"
I have added the required entries in c:\windows\system32
after clicking u201CTest servicesu201D I could able to login to web-dms but not able to create anything
The error message is as below.
BSP exception: Application sap\cvaw_document_search can not be started. Create an application node using transaction SICF
I am not able to see this node in SICF

Hi Sandeep,
please see the SAP note 1038797 and use the report 'BSP_UNLOCK_LONG_APP' to unlock the former BSP pages.
Therefore you just have to execute the report in SE38 and enter the page name 'cvaw_document_search'. After pressing F8 the page is unlocked again and should work in WebDocuments.
If this solved your question please spend some points.

I have checked SICF transaction. Each and every setting is same as there is in dev., but then also in testing instance I am unable to find the correct link for web DMS. Kindly help other than this, where to check. In customization exactly tell the place where I can find the settings.

Square thumbnails in web gallery?

I love the ease of Aperture's web galleries but they would look so much more professional if there was an option to crop the thumbnails to a square without changing the large image. Does anyone know of a way to do this with Aperture?

I'm not clear why it would look more professional if
portrait shots and landscape shots were all cropped
to square. I'm no pro, but I can't imagine posting my
photos that way even for friends & family, even as
thumbs.
I just like the way it looks, I edited a web gallery after exporting as an example:

This took a lot of time after the export and would have to be redone each time I updated the page, thus I was looking for a way to do this in Aperture. I would definately appreciate any help.

No Captions on thumbnails in Web Module?

Is it just me.......or is it impossible to have a caption or filename under the thumbnails in either HTML or Flash Web Galleries? I know that they appear in the larger images....but having them under each thumbnail image is a client requirement for me.

That's only one reason that I installed Gallery 2 on my website and I'm building galleries there. Personally, I get very impatient to wait for the loading of large images for every image to find out something about the photo. But to be honest, most people don't have much information with their photos so it doesn't matter. I like to tell at least a little bit of a story with pictures by use of captions and other information.
All of the photo information in this gallery was entered in Lightroom. Titles, captions, location, city, state, country (if country is USA it doesn't display). More global information (about the entire gallery and the sections within it) is of course not stored in Lightroom.

It was a lot of work to set it up, but once that is done, the photos themselves get loaded into an album, ordered by name, date, or manually, and the information is automatically displayed as I have programmed it to do. This means yet another database, but most of my data is safe in Lightroom, so I'm not terribly concerned. I'm so unconcerned I haven't even made a Gallery 2 database backup yet... Hum...

Bridge to create thumbnails from web application

Hi all,
I'm looking for a solution to create thumbnails on my web application server (eps, ai, psd.. files).
Did you think that it a good idea (and possible) to use Bridge on a server (I have a licnese for InDesign server) to generate thumbnails with a jsx script ?

I have no idea about using Bridge on a server, but here is an example of creating thumbnails.
This example should be run from ExtendScript Toolkit, it will generate thumbnails for all (that it can) filetypes in the selected folder.

Creating Thumbnails for web page links to larger images.

I want to create thumbnail images for linking to web page linking to enlargements. I'm using PhotoShop Elements 2.0 on a Dell 2400, XP Home Edition with 512mb RAM and 35gb storage available.
The language I read in help sections doesn't addressed the issue I want help with. I believe it addresses saving thumbnails for Windows and Mac using .tiff or .psd format, not the .jpg or .gif I need. It seemed like there should be a way to change the thumbnail format. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can use the ' Web Photo gallery ' as Jodi suggested for a large
number of images or,
Open your image, click the bar at the top of the displayed image &
reset the size to what you want, then 'File', 'Save for Web' & save as
.jpg or .gif. .jpg gives more options for reducing file size so that
is what I use. Close the image without saving

Safari Issue - No Thumbnails of Web Pages + New Page problem

The icon next to the Bookmarks icon is not active. It does not respond to anything. So I can't get access to the thumbnail view of websites. And I can't open a new page. Surfing via one page is possible.
I've tried shutting down safari by double-tapping the home button and holding the icon until the " - " appears. Then touch the ' - '.
I've also done a soft reset by pressing the home and power buttons for ten seconds until the apple is displayed. The ipad to restarted and I rechecked Safari but no luck.
I've also cleared the History, Cookies, and Cache in Settings/ Safari. Still no luck.
If anyone can help, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Update: Noticed that the 'thumbnail view of webpages' can be activated when the iPad is in a vertical position (it's also possible to view the thumbnails horizontally when in 'thumbnail webpage view mode'). But it can not be activated when the iPad is in a horizontal position. So I have to turn the iPad to a vertical state in order to open a new page. This may be how it is supposed to work, but to me, that seems odd. :-) So I'd be happy, if anyone could tell me how to make the 'thumbnail view of webpages' possible when the iPad is in a horizontal position. Performance, minimum bandwidth, thumbnail previews for PDF and InDesign Files with web content viewer

Hi,
We are considering using DPS with a web content viewer for large PDFs and/or InDesign files. The client using a web viewer might have very limited bandwidth (some as low as 256Kbps). We ask:
1 - How well does the web viewer perform with very large PDFs and InDesign files (500 MB+) with limited bandwidth? Does the file stream in chunks and the PDF shows as soon as the first page or two are available, with the rest loading in the background, or does the entire file come down in one part and then shown?
2 - Can PDF and InDesign files support thumbnail previews? For example, one image per PDF page and user can scroll forward and back.
Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

Hi Stephen,
The way the web viewer works is that it converts the PDF/InDesign files to PNGs along with additional HTML assets. Assets are downloaded as they’re ready for a given page (e.g. first, page 1 is filled with its assets as they become available, then page 2, etc), so a reader wouldn’t need to wait for the entire article to load. The next few pages are also loaded in the background, so the reader wouldn’t be likely to notice lag as they flipped through pages to the next page after reading the current one. So the lag will depend on the size of an individual page.
For your question around thumbnails, the web viewer does not load a preview image so the reader would need to wait for the assets I described above to load.
