Thumbnails of swf and qt files

Anyone know of a way to make swf and qt files display in Bridge (CS3, CS4?) with a thumbnail of the first frame, instead of the generic icon for those file types?
Thanks.
JdF

Hello Jesse,
Thank you for using Bridge.
It is a known limitation of Bridge that Bridge cannot thumbnail SWF and some of QT files. However, nost MOV files should be thumbnailed.

  • Flash CC does not publish swf and html files

I'm having issues with Flash CC. When I go to publish my movie the status bar appeaers then quickly disappears and the html and swf files are not created. I'm also not able to export the movie as a quicktime or AVI file. Is there specific settings I must have to publish and export? Note: I am working with AS3 and tried to do a simpple test with a box moving left to right and I have the same problem.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure the HTML and SWF are not currently in use? For example if you publish and preview it in a browser, it can lock those files because they're "in use". Then Flash cannot overwrite them. You'd need to close the browser or any Flash Players displaying them. If that still won't overwrite, delete the files and see if they're re-created.
If no files are being created at all, gointo publish settings and set a path to export the SWF and HTML file to, don't leaving it at the default (same folder as FLA). Try various places in fact to test permissions.
If you're on Windows you could try running Flash CC as Administrator to also get around any file writing permission issues. Right-click on the Flash icon and select Run as Administrator.
I've only really encountered this when my SWF/HTML was in use or stuck in a process.

  • Uploaded swf and flv files - right ?

    Hi all -
Just getting to grips with flash movies, however not 100%
i've got it right as yet ! Could someone with experience in flash
movies confirm the files to upload are the swf and flv files to our
server ? Everything appears OK when viewing the movies - take a
quick look here www.sofabedgallery.co.uk/cosmosofa.php however I'm
just a little concerned of the size of the flv file at a couple of
mb. Is this the correct file to upload or should I try to upload
    the fla smaller file?
    Many thanks,
    Chris.

    Hi ,
You can publish your project as MP4 with Cp6. For that --
Do -- File-- Publish-- Media--- (Choose Dropdown) MP4 and (adjust settings, if you like) Hit publish.
You can use the Adobe Media Encoder to convert the Video into FLV format.
Also, you can use the SWF option on Publish Screen to publish the project as a Flash File.
    Thanks!

  • Controller for .swf and .flv files is disappearing

When I place an .swf or .flv file in Dreamweaver, the controller, which I created in Flash, disappears when previewed in Safari. Do I forget about creating a controller in Flash before exporting to the site directory in Dreamweaver and create it in Dreamweaver instead? Can someone either tell me in simple terms how to do this, or direct me to a tutorial?  Many thanks.

If you put the page, the .flv file, the .swf files, and the Scripts folder online, we should be able to help. Otherwise, all we can do is make wild guesses as to what you've done.
BTW, the most common mistake is forgetting to upload the Scripts folder if this is what I think it is.

  • Published swf and html file viewing issues.

    Greetings,
I design web banners and used to, with Flash 8, sedn my
clients the published *.html and *.swf files to download onto their
desktops so they could view the banner. With Flash CS3 this doesn't
seem to be working the same way. It keeps giving them the window
that says something about "ac_runactivescript.js". How come this
never did this with Flash 8?

click file/publish settings/formats, make sure the swf and html boxes are selected, and click the use default names button.  then click file/publish.  are the files in your directory with your fla?
if not, create a new directory (that has no subdirectories), save your fla to that new directory using a new name (ie, click file/save as).  then click file/publish.  check the new directory for your 3 files.

  • SWF and projector files performance

    Hi,
How can I increase performance of a SWF or projector file?
On my flash file, I attach many movieclips during its
execution and there are many updates per second, then, it is slow.
    Sorry my bad english :)

There are several swf obfuscators (spelling?) on the market that might help, if you were creating standalone apps you could use mProjector that will encrypt all your swfs for super duper security..

  • SWF and FLV file  sizes

    Hello,
I have an flv file and the same flv file in an swf file. Both
files are the same size. So, it seems that it doesn't matter,
whether you import an flv file or an swf file, to keep your file
size small. Is this correct ?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    > I have an flv file and the same flv file in an swf file.
    Both files are
    > the
    > same size.
    That's just a coincidence.
There is different baggage / overheads with FLV vs SWF. So
    you will usually
get some differences .. sometimes SWF smaller, other times
    FLV. However,
the actual video payload is the same in both, and the audio
    is similar too,
and they are the bulk of the file size. So there shouldn't be
    a huge
difference in file size between SWF an FLV.

  • SWF and HTML files separate directories.

I am generating HTML wrapper dynamically and it runs
successfully (No JavaScript errors etc.). I right click on the page
and it displays "Print,Settings, About Flash Player"
Problem is that my SWF file which resides somewhere else on
the HTTP server is not played at all. I get a blank page. The path
to SWF was provided in HTML using an alias defined on the HTTP
    config file.
If I run static HTML file in the same directory as SWF file
    the page is generated OK.
Am I missing a crossdomain.xml file but everything is on the
    same domain (so ruled out).
    Please help.

Hi zetokore, and welcome to the Community!
You cannot separate the HTM and SWF files, so don't try.
These files are designed to be symbiotic and must be accessed from
the same location. Your "getaround" won't work because if you link
to the SWF instead of theHTM, the output will be warped ... the HTM
file contains sizing parameters for display of the SWF; so without
proper sizing, the SWF will appear warped.
In short - you'll have to live with it, because what you are
    seeing is Captivate's designed behavior.
To emphasize the point: Design and record your Captivate
projects at the size they are to be displayed to the end-user ...
always! And - again always - link to the HTM file, never to the
    SWF.

  • Website calling *.swf and *flv files from C:\

I am after information from someone who has achieved this. I
have a website that has a swf embedded in it that is calling a
swf/flv on my hardrive. Firstly is this possible or am I waisting
my time even trying this. I do realise the security issues involved
and I have read posts and tutorials about achieving this but I
still have had no luck. CAN ANYONE HELP ME BEFORE I START PULLING
    MY HAIR OUT!!

The reason why I want to access information from the hardrive
is because the information is about 600mb in all but cut up into
60mb parts or chapters. It is for an online learning system but
Australian BroadBand speeds are still way to slow for this sort of
system. I've tried to give these files permissions but I still get
issues. I am considering using Adobe AIR Technology and making a
desktop application that accesses small amounts of informaion from
the server, so basically turning this project on it's head.
If you do have some more information for me that would be
great but I think I'll go the AIR track.

  • How to create .swf and .lib font files?

    Hello All!
I'm working with a flash template I bought but I'd like to change the fonts.
    According to the documentation:
To add a new font new .swf files should be transferred to  the “fonts” folder, and necessary changes should be done in fontsLibrary.xml file as well, using the same format.
In the "fonts" folder I have both .swf and .lib files.
I've managed to create what I believe to be a healthy .swf font file following the steps in here: http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?cid=67A61
Still, after editing the XML accordingly, it won't work, and I believe it's because I don't hava the .lib file.
Here's what the XML looks like, pretty simple actually:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <fontsLibrary>
    <fonts>
      <font name="standard 07_57" url="standard07_57.swf"/>
      <font name="standard 07_58" url="standard07_58.swf"/>
      <font name="Marketing Script" url="MarketingScript.swf"/>
      <font name="extravaganza" url="extravaganza.swf"/>
    </fonts>
    </fontsLibrary>
Anyone has any idea how I can progress on this?
What other info can I give to help you help me?
    Many thanks!!!

  • Need to load multiple skins with only a single .swf and config.xml

    Hello
These are part of some instructions that were of a AS3 Mp3 Store I purcased
Well guys the new AS3 flash cart system can have skins hot swapped in and out with out having to recompile the actionscript code.
You can even have multiple skins on the same cart and use different ones in different places of your website.
This is all because the flash cart system itself runs seperate from the graphical user interface that the customer visits.
When you purchase a new cart skin, or if you edit your own custom skin, you can place the swf file for it in the "skins" directory of your flash cart installation directory. Then in the config file where you "embed" the cart on your website you include the name of the skin you'd like to use (the skin MUST be available in your skins directory).
The other plus to using the skin system is you can keep the cart application seperate from your site. No longer do you have to have all that ugly php code and cramped swf files floating along side your website html files. No instead you create an install directory then simply embed the cart from where ever it is. The only litigation is that the cart must exist on the same server as the website you are showing it publicly on.
So right now I have a website with the store set up and working, allowing the buyer  to listen to the tracks, add to cart and checkout after which they are given an instant download link to the purcased files.
What I want to do now though is break up the songs into differents carts/skins within a dropdown list in my website as quoted in the instructions above, according to genre.
So I have published 4 different skins  as
    MusicSkin 1.fla
    MusicSkin 2.fla
    MusicSkin 3.fla
    MusicSkin 4.fla
and have placed these on my server
The cart works by Index.html > loads the Main.swf >loads MusicSkin.fla which is called by via config.xml
    (<?xml version="1.0"?>
    -<config><skin src="MusicSkin"/><db src="/" sandbox="false" type="sql"/></config>
I am having trouble configuring how to call on 4 different Skins into different pages on my site if I only have ONE index.html, Main.swc and config.xml files which according to the instructions is possible!
Hope this makes sense, I get how it works on one skin but not how it works/or to make it work with multple ones on a website.

    Is this possible...anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really hoping to getting this working soon.
I am wondering if i have to copy the instances of the different skins into the config file above and each swf and html file loads the corresponding on in the list, or does each instance require it's own config file, which would then be a problem I think, because I could not have 4 config.xml files in the same directory which is what the Action Script is calling on.

  • SWF and HTML won't play stand alone

My .swf and.html files won't play on their own even with
latest Flash player installed (flash player 9). The html will play
if right clicked and internet explorer is selected manually, but
not on its own. Both files will play on their on when on a computer
with Flash installed. I finished the project and published them
using Flash 8, what's going on? I didn't see anything in the
release notes. Anyone have an idea or had this problem?
    Thanks!

Looks to me like the issue is indeed your CMS. The flash content is loaded in a lightbox, which is most likely controlled by some JavaScript or ASP. My guess would be that the problem lies with the paths to the files. The swf file that the lightbox loads is referenced in your CMS so it knows where to get it - the thing is that most likely it is not played from the location where it's located but instead played from the location where the lightbox script is loaded. Since the 4 SWF's you have are not located there it won't be able to find it.
Also this lightbox approach isn't very good for this type of content. The demo is extremely small and the alignment of the Flash file looks weird. Instead just use the HTML file generated by Captivate and upload that to a directory in your CMS. Then change the link you have so it opens the HTML file in a new window and everything should work out just fine.

  • Difference between .swf and html publishing

    Hi,
I am creating a flash player to stream my .flv files, as I am
testing my results, I put my .swf and html files on my web server
and then test respective URL paths: For example:
    http://mywebserver.com/video/file.html
    http://mywebserver.com/video/file.swf
how come these file vary so much in size? when I call
    http://mywebserver.com/video/file.html
on my browser; my player is very small. But, when I call
    http://mywebserver.com/video/file.swf
    I see the actual size.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Open ur html with DW or notepad. Find the <embed src="
    tag.
Then replace the width and height of the swf as u want.
When you tries to open the file.swf, it will hold the browser
    width and height.
