Thumbnails ok, pics from 4 show up blurry.

I recently upgraded from a 4 to a 4S.  Everything appeared to transfer across with no issues.  However, when looking at pictures the thumbnails look good but when I click on one that I took on the old 4 it shows up blurry.  Any thumbnails that I click on that were taken on the 4S show up fine.  Help!!!!

Make sure the following settings are enabled on both iPad.

  • Pics from iPhoto Albums not all showing in iPhone tab in iTunes

I am trying to sync several of my iPhoto albums with my iPhone. With most of my albums when I click on the photo tab in iTunes, it shows WAY less pictures than are in the real album. Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it? I really want all pics from the albums I choose to move to phone.

Apparently sometimes, for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
Contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.
    Regards.

  • Any way to recover a pic from thumbnail? Suggestions?

I can see the thumbnail photo but when I click on it I get a gray pic with a white question mark in the middle, meaning that iPhoto can't find the pic; iPhoto offers to search for it, but together we've had no luck. Any way to recover the pic from the thumbnail?  Any other suggestions? (I think the "missing" status may be the result of importing my old pics from my old Kodak EasyShare program ... and may I say that the program is misnamed? Nothing "easy" about it!)
    -McM0M

The ? usually indicates a Permissions issue.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Use the option to check and repair Library permissions.

  • HT201302 I have successfully downloaded my pics from my iphone to my mac, and they show having been downloaded, but I cannot view them.

So I synched and downloaded all my pics from my iphone to my mac, and now for whatever reason I cannot actually see them.  I go into iphoto, itunes and cannot access them.  I see them in itunes and yet do not have th option to view.  Any ideas...?

You can't open iPod touch, iPad and iPhone apps on the Mac. They use different operating systems that need different applications, so it's not possible to use your iPhone apps.
Instead, you have to look for other applications in the Mac App Store or the Internet, because you can install applications from wherever you want

  • IPhoto library won't load thumbnails or pics

A couple of months back, I noticed that some thumbnails in my iPhoto library were not being loaded (maybe 10% of folders), and a number of photo's inside the folder were blank, and would also not load.  The folder thumbnails would flicker on and off when scrolling down the folders, and the folders themselves show the 'reflection' of the folder pic in front of it, but not on the actual, folder.
I then noticed that some folders had totally disappeared, so I restored from my Time Machine from a couple of months previous.  Missing folders re-appeared, but I still had blank thumbnails, and pics unable to open.  I tried the 4 iPhoto repair options, but it made no difference.
I then restored from an even older Time Machine backup, but now, most of my thumbnail pics are missing (about 90%), and I can't open most of my photos.  I don't understand how this is happening, as when the backup was made, the iPhoto library was fine.
I'm now beginning to think that my hard drive on my Mac may be corrupt, and I'm restoring to a faulty drive.  Can anyone help?
I'm on OSX 10.6 (I think), and it may be worth noting that I tried updating the OS 2 months ago, but it crashed my Mac, and I had to restore.
    Thanks
    Lee

    Apologies for the delayed response.
    I'm running iPhoto V9.5.1 (902.17) on OSX 10.9.3.
    Thanks

Sorry but this is not clear.
    When you would "import" what?
two files would show up in "images".
Do you mean in the All Images search in the Finder?
    IF so:
1.Never interact with photos that are in iPhoto via the All Images Search. This does not understand the iPhoto Library and it's very, very easy to damage the library this way.
    2. What you were seeing was the original file you imported and the thumbnail created by iPhoto for viewing on the iPhoto Window. That thumbnail is not designed for user access.
What are you trying to do ultimately?

Installed the CC updates yesterday. Downloaded pics from my Canon 70D in Camera Raw. Since the updates Bridge no longer recognizes them; advises me to get the latest update, which I have. Both Photoshop CC's recognize the pics, just not Bridge (thanks for having Photoshop now show thumbnails of CR pics). Any Ideas on how to fix?

Thanks for the link Jeff. Couldn't find any links on the Adobe site.
Even with that link though, I was still left puzzled as it didn't give multiple versions, just a 32 bit and 64 bit version.
I tried the 64 bit and it didn't work, so I assumed that was what had already been installed in the update.
Now installed the 32 bit version, and fingers crossed. At least it starts up now!

  • Copying pics from iphoto says can't copy, photo is busy????

Sometimes when I try to copy photos from iphoto to my external hard drive, it comes up with the message 'cannot copy to this location because one or more of the pictures is busy' what does this mean and how can I change it? It happens quite randomly and if I delete the pic or change the name of the pic i'm trying to copy, it will choose another pic to be busy.....what am I doing wrong? it's infuriating. WHat's more, there is nothing about it in David Pogues 'missing manual'. Am I the only one at a loss when it comes to finding solutions to problems that seem so simple?????

*It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss. There is no need for you to ever enter this folder. There are no user serviceable parts there. Period.*
A Note about the iPhoto Library Folder:
In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
is there a simple way to make the pictures in my finder>pictures>iphotolibrary corresponde with the pics in iphoto?
No. The Finder is a File Organiser, iPhoto is a photo organiser. The point is that you let iPhoto look after the files and you organise, edit, whatever in the iPhoto Window - without reference to the files.
To delete pics from iPhoto and the HD, put them in the iPhoto trash and empty it, that's all.
i don't want to have multiple duplicates of the same image
You don't, you have different versions - as detailed above. There is no way to stop iphoto from preserving your original file. If you don't want this use another application.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Again, stay out of the iPhoto Library in the Finder, and remember everything you need to do can be done via the iPhoto Window - and if you can't figure out how to achieve something, post here or even check the Help.

  • Uploading pics from Iphoto to website degrades quailty. Can anyone help??

When I upload my pictures from my digital camera to Iphoto, the picture quality is great. But, when I upload pics from Iphoto to any online website such as facebook, or email, etc, the picture quality degrades and looks very grainy. I tried using a compressor program to change the size of the picture but that doesn't seem to help. I'm using iphoto 08. Any suggestions??

Yes, the quality is very bad because you're uploading tiny thumbnail files. What would you expect?

  • Do thumbnails of pics saved to a CD or DVD stay on the 'puter ?

I am wanting to save my pics from iPhoto 6 but am wondering what the best way to do this is. I thought I read somewhere that after you save them & delete them, thumbnails remain showing what you have on the saved CD or DVD. Do I download the album? What is the best way to do this?

    Donnette
If you burn a disk using the Share -> Burn command you will recreate your Library on the disk.
If you then delete the pics from iphoto it will not keep the thumbnails, but you will be able to view the pics in iPhoto if you insert the disk.

  • Is it possible to recover some pics from a project if the album with the pictures has been deleted ?

Hello! I've accidently delete an album of pics from Iphoto and from my computer. I tried to recover them with several program but it's not working.
The strange think is that i still can see the pictures i'd like to recover in a project, as vignette. But if i look at the project, it is said that there's no picture in it... Any idea how i can do to recover my pics ?
Bonjour!
    GRAND MERCI!

The thing is, i don't understand why i still can see the "vignette" of the photos if the photos have really disappeared from my whole computer !
Events may keep a thumbnail of he last photo they contained, even if the photos have all been deleted.
Can you explain me how to restore my iphoto library ? ...the thing is, i haven't done any backup before haha...
    We can't do magic, sorry.
Have you tried recovery software on the card, or only on your Mac?

  • How to get pics from iphone to iphoto library on hard drive

Hi there. I saved my photo library to an EHD. I pointed iphoto to open the library from EHD. Normally when I connect my iphone to my macbook pro, iphoto just pops up asking to import the pics from my phone. But now it doesn't do that and it doesn't show my phone on the left pane of i photo. How do I get my pics and videos from my iphone into the iphoto library i saved on my ehd? Thanks!

    Greetings,
Make sure your external hard drive is Mac formated and has a reasonable amount of space available.
--- Side note:  If you haven't already, you should tell TimeMachine to backup that external hard drive as Time Machine only backs up your internal hard drive by default.
    Try:
    1. Install all software updates for both your computer and your iPhone and turn both on and off and re-plug the cable between them.
    2. Try importing your pictures and movies using Image Capture found in Macintosh HD > Applications.
-- If Image Capture sees your iPhone when iPhoto does not, try creating a new iPhoto library on your internal drive to see if that library can see your iPhone.  This is done by launching iPhoto while holding down the option key.
If those steps do not help, follow this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3195
    Cheers.
