Thunar-shares-plugin-0.2.0 installation fails

Greetings to all,
I am new to Arch and Linux. I am trying to get rid of windows completely and to get there I am trying out. I have successfully build my arch box. Everything is working perfect ( I can't believe the ease of use); but one little issue with installation of thunar-shares-plugin. I have a NAS on my network and would like to be able to mount the shares automatically and without being root.
I am using xfce-4.8 and the latest arch release as of last week 64-bit
I downloaded the plugin and I am following this how to http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/thunar … res-plugin.
When I launch the configure command-line "./configure --prefix=$(pkg-config --variable prefix thunarx-1)" I get an error about thunarx not being found in the box.
checking for thunarx-1 >= 0.8.0... not found

From what I understand (after trolling on the internet) a lot of people seem to be having that issue. I could not find a fix.
Is their a solution (not too complicated as I am new:) ) or workaround ?

This is what i did
1st step:
Install thunar-vfs using $ ./configure --prefix=/usr --> no issue there
2nd step:
Downloaded tarball (thunar-shares) here https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/th/t … es-plugin/
makepkg -si and get this error
error: target not found: thunar-vfs
==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies.
back to square one I am missing something but dont really know what

  • Can't get thunar-shares-plugin to work properly

    I have installed from AUR thunar-vfs and thunar-shares-plugin, to be able to easily create shares in XFCE. Then I followed the steps detailed in the wiki, but I can't get it to work. When I right click on a folder and select properties, I get the additional "Shares" tab, but its contents are disabled and I can't do anything. In the bottom of the tab, I can see in written in red "You are not the owner of the folder", but indeed I am.
    Samba is running, and as I stated, I configured it following the steps in the wiki. I can also open other shares in thunar, but I can't create shares.
    The only reason I think that might be causing problems it that when I built thunar-vfs, I had to remove the 'hal' dependency, and also '--with-volume-manager=hal' from the configure script, because the hal dependency was failing. Could this be the problem? How can I fix it?
    Also, is there other good alternative for XFCE to easily create shares?

    Ok, heres what I just tried. I tried playing The Dark Knight on DVD on my PC. Background music is playing throughout, as well as some sound effects, but voices and speech as well as most other sound effects cannot be heard. I am experiencing the same problem with some of the PC games I'm playing as well. You'll hear background music and background effects but you wont hear other SFX or speech. The strange this is that whatever music or background SFX are playing is playing out of all the speakers. What seems to be the issue?

    DB= 11gr2.0.3 / Installed with no problems
    All required rmps are ok.

    I have not set all DB memory initialization parameters because of lack of resources.
    But I think this problem is not related to RAM , SGA, PGA.

    Yes of course there is 4gb free space, I checked everything what I know after search in the net and
    I found a lot of recurses and articles about OEM 12c installation but most of them is just a
    screen shots of installation nothing deeply,(just copy and past from official documentation ) finally I come to this forum :)

  • Screen share plugin installer?

    Can the screen share plugin be downloaded and provided as a separate application to install?
    I deal with a lot of people that have firewalls and other security constraints. It would be much easier
    to send them the plugin to install instead of prompting them in the browser.
    If so, where can I find the plugin installer?

    I use JollysFastVNC as my local client, and remote screen lock used to work with Snow Leopard.  They have a note on their website that it doesn't work with Lion, when I try it kicks me out of the session.
    I wonder if Apple removed this feature and reserved it for Apple Remote Desktop?

The JINSTALL causes an access vialoation error and on other machines a white background is visible in the browser. After retrying multiple times it started to work this afternoon around 5pm pacific standard time. The jinstall-131-win32.cab file was identical between the one downloaded in the morning compared with the one downloaded in the afternoon. It seems like the plugin setup in the SUN web site wasn't working.
    What is exactly causing this problem and how can it be solved? If its an issue on the SUN site could there be some warnings regarding the down time/failure of SUN plugin site.

  • Installation Fails on Debian Stable 64 bit

    Hi There
    I have been trying to install skype for a while. The i386 architecture has already been enabled, and the repositories have been updated. I have repeated the process several times just to be sure.
    During skype installation a bunch of conflicts occur and aptitude can only install skype by uninstalling most of my system, at which point I have to abort the installation. I have tried many different packages, including Ubuntu packages, old packages, old static packages, tarballs. Nothing helps. Here is the output from the terminal:

  • I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, but the installer fails to initialise. How do I get it to work?

    I have Photoshop Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 installed on my PC. Both were installed from discs that I bought a few years ago. I recently purchased the upgrade (by download) for both applications to version 13. In accordance with the (scant) instructions received by email, I downloaded the four files required from the Adobe site. I subsequently ran the .exe files, which in turn created directories on my PC, including set-up.exe files for both applications. When I run the setup files, I get an error message stating that the installer failed to initialise. The error message advised me to download the Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem. That tool does not exist. I then sought assistance from the Abobe support site, initially using the hyperlink suggestions, which were of no use, then using the chat function. The operator kept trying to get me to do something with something called 'Creative Cloud'; which I am not familiar with, and do not use. He then instructed me to download and run a CS5 cleaner tool; however, none of the choices offered by that tool include my issue, or either Photoshop Elements or Premier Elements. I am reluctant to uninstall version 10 of the programs in case I end up losing the lot and therefore wasting even more money than the purchase price for this upgrade.
    All I want to do is upgrade my two applications from version 10 to version 13. I have paid the requisite fee but it clearly does not work. I appear to have totally wasted my money. Can anyone please tell me how to get it to work? I do not want to have anything to do with the so-called ‘Creative Cloud’ as I have no idea what it is, and I do not want to lose what I already have (and have paid for previously).
    I have tried for a few days to access the so-called 24/7 chat assistance but appeared to have been locked out as every time I try to access it, I get a message that the (24/7) chat is closed. Adobe has taken my money for a product that does not work, and also refuse to help me fix it.
    I am very frustrated with a product I bought that does not work, and a 24/7 support service that clearly is not 24/7, and which refuses to assist me. Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to get this to work? Rod.

  • Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS6 installer failed to initialize on Mac Book Air

    I'm trying to install Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS6 for at least a month now.
    I have downloaded the .dmg file at the Adobe Website and it starts to initializing the installer, then a error show up:
    "The installer could not initialize. Download the Adobe Support Advisor."
    There is no Adobe Support Advisor when I clicked on the link. "The Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued" (http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/)
    I've tried this many times, but every time being a failure.

  • Customized Acrobat 11 installer fails on Mac OS 10.8.2

    We created a customized installer for Acrobat 11 using the Adobe Customization Wizard for Macintosh. The resulting .pkg installer installed successfully on three Macs (two on 10.8.2 and one on 10.7.5) but the installer fails on the fourth machine, which is running 10.8.2. It appears that Acrobat installs into the Applications folder, but when I try to run it, a prompt pops up to register with an Adobe ID. This shouldn't be happening, given the settings for the installer:
    •Accept End User License Agreement
    •Disable Registration
    •Grant Offline Exception (we have a volume serial number)
    The three machines that we ran the installer successfully on have had no problems...Acrobat launches without any request for registration.
    The console logs show the following info for the last two times we have tried to run the installer...

    Any suggestions what the problem could be or what the fix is? Running the standard installer is not an ideal solution, since we intend to push Acrobat 11 out to over 300 machines.

  • Installing DW CS5 on my new laptop running 8.1.  Error message " Installer failed to initialize"

    After the CD install failed with the "Installer failed to initialize" ewrror I contacted support and they gave me a download link... same error message. 

    That's strange, Are you checking at the below location ?
    Windows 7 and Windows 8 : \Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Temp
    Run the installer again, and after error prompt, please collect the logs from TEMP folder(location stated above) and share.

  • Every PATCH installation fails after installing Windows Updates

    Hello,
    I want to report an issue which I think is a Windows bug introduced by one of the Windows updates (unfortunately I wasn't able to find out which one of them).
    Here is the test case:
    1. install a fresh copy of Windows on a test machine
    2. install all available Windows Updates (so the system is up to date)
    3. create a sample MSI installer which only installs some dummy files (let's say Product Version 1.0.0) and host it on a web server
    4. install the MSI from the online location using a command line like this:
    msiexec /i http://server/share/package.msi
    5. create a .MSP patch (e.g. v1.0.1) which only adds a new file to v1.0.0
    6. install the v1.0.1 patch
    RESULT: the patch installation fails with the following error message: "The filename , directory name , or volume label syntax is incorrect"
    NOTES:
    1. the issue was replicated on Windows 7 and 8 machines UP TO DATE
    2. the issue is not replicated on a fresh installation of Windows without Updates applied
    Is there anyone aware of what could cause this error? Once again the patch installation fails only on Windows machines with the latest Updates installed.

    We hope your issue has been resolved, if you've found solution by yourself. We would appreciate it if you could share with us and we will mark it as answer.
    I am looking to your log find that it's trying to launch DISM from c:\windows\SysNative. You might try build a symbolic link from c:\windows\system32 (where DISM lives) to the non-existent path c:\windows\SysNative. Then check the issue again.
    To build a symbolic link, try workaround as Brian's reply to this thread.

  • JAI extension automatic installation fail with Java Plug-in 1.4.1_01

    Hi everyone,
    i have a html page with an applet that use the JAI (Java Advanced imaging) extension. I used to run it with java plug-in 1.3.1_03.
    When the JAI extension was not installed, it was automatically downloaded and installed. I use the sun "Signed Auto Installation for browsers" jar available on the JAI download page.
    But with Java Plug-in 1.4.1_01, it seems to have a security problem. Is the "Signed Auto Installation for browsers" only java plug-in 1.3 compatible or is there a way to install it with 1.4.
    If anyone has encountered the same problem with another extension, it could help me to know how to have it installed automatically with java Plug-in 1.4.
    I tested on IE 4 and 6 on Windows NT4 & IE 6 on Windows 2000, and i have the same results.
