Thunderbird 24.5.0 won't stop trying to log into NNTP account, can't read old messages

I have a dead news account with a lot of old posts saved. Both of the "Check for new messages" settings for the server are unchecked, and no newsgroups on this server are selected for offline use (anymore).
When I start Thunderbird, it repeatedly tries to log into this account and puts up the password prompt. I canceled the prompt hundreds of times and it kept coming up. Eventually I was able to select one group that had a large unread count and hit C to mark all the posts read, and that seems to have gotten it under control. It still tries to log in at startup, though, and again anytime I select this server or any group or message on it.
Well, it *was* under control for a while, but after my system went to sleep and came back it prompted me a few hundred more times.
While I'm in online mode, Thunderbird refuses to display any of the saved messages. If I select "Work Offline," then it will display them.

''... no newsgroups on this server are selected for offline use (anymore).''
This contradicts with
''If I select "Work Offline," then it will display them.''
So what's correct?
If you still want to access those posts, why can't you simply enter the password for the account?

I'm at student at Boise State. When I try to log into my broncomail account, or when I try to access broncomail through the Firefox Mail, I get the following message.
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies.
Cookies are not disabled, and I've not had this problem with prior versions of Firefox.
The other thing I'm noticing is that the little green circle on the tabs for Blackboard and BroncoWeb often never seem to stop spinning.

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.

• When I tried to log into to itunes today, I got a message that states "cannot access library because it was saved in a newer version." I cannot figure out how to access itunes or restore it.

I tried opening itunes today and got the message that I cannot access itunes because it was saved in a newer version.I have been using itunes for 10 years and never gotten this. I cannot restore an earlier version...any suggestions?

Unless you've recently attempted to downgrade iTunes this is probably a sign of a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

• I am trying to log into my account but get stuck at the login screen

Whenever I try to log into my account it starts thinking for a minute or two and then brings me back to the login screen. Is there something wrong with the account access?

There is a known problem and I am having exact same issue. Power cycling and internet cache does not fix the issue. When a connection to a server fails it has nothing to do with caching issues. It is a network issue on AT&Ts end in a localized region. It works in multiple towers in various locations but does not work where I am. I have reported this to AT&T.

• My phone won't stop trying to send iMessages to a Blackberry user

My friend experimented with the iPhone 4S, but returned it a week later for another Blackberry. Now my iPhone won't stop trying to send him iMessages. I've tried deleting his contact info (from everywhere, including the iCloud), and re-entering it. I've also tried deleting all previous text/iMessage conversations with him. Restoring, resetting, etc. Nothing has worked. Any thoughts/suggestions?

You don't have much choice, do you? You're either going to have to restore the software or take it to the Genius Bar to see about getting that button fixed.

My iPhone won't stop vibrating when plugged into my Macbook. All software is up to date. iTunes just gives me an error. No problems when plugged into a PC. Why the nonstop vibrating!?

When I connect it to my iMac (with up-to-date OS X Yosemite 10.9.5) - it doesn't work.
Specifically - iTunes automatically launches, but then quickly shows a dialog window that says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone. This device is no longer connected."
Meanwhile - on my iPhone - in the upper right-hand corner (where the battery life is displayed) - you can see the "plugged in" icon (lightening bolt) rapidly blinking on and off.
In other words - it seems like, when it's plugged in - it's rapidly connecting and disconnecting (several times per second).
If I click "OK" on that dialog window on iTunes - it instantly pops back up, and continues to do so as long as I keep the iPhone plugged in.
I have tried all and stile did not resolve my problem. I tried to restart both devices, try different cable (I have original cable). Both devices are new and software's are update it on latest versions.
Thanks in advance for any help!

• Mac keeps trying to log into a Windows server with old password.

My iBook for some reason is trying to log into a server at work we use to share files on (let's called it Xserver). I recently discovered through logging my network traffic on my router at home, that my machine was still trying to access XServer.rr.com Xserver.socal.rr.com even when I was not in the office. It doesn't stop trying, over and over and over it goes, trying to find XServer. I was wondering why my account on XServer kept becoming Locked Out (Windows Server), and this is obviously the answer because it's not using the correct password.
How can i find out where OSX is instructed to connect to XServer automatically and keep trying, and tell it to stop?

Look in SystemPreferences>Accounts>yourAccount...and then into Login items. see if this server login is set to be automatic there.
If it's just a wrong password you need to fix, look into Utilities>KeychainAccess...see if this server is in there, remove it. Or do Keychain FirstAid.
There is an automount function somewhere, but I forget where that is.
