Thunderbird 3.1 : Empty notifications?

Since upgrading to tb 3.1 I sometimes get empty notifications:
The visible text is my terminal behind it because the notifications are slightly transparent.
Anyone any idea what's causing that and how to get rid of it?
I have no new mail when it occurs and there's nothing that needs attention...

I am also getting them. just that my notifications aren't transparent.
There's this message in the console:
(thunderbird-bin:2526): libnotify-CRITICAL **: notify_notification_update: assertion `summary != NULL && *summary != '\0'' failed
I only found a mention in gentoo ml [1] (not even in their bugtracker) and an awesome bug triggered by it [2].
There's bug 574648 in mozilla [3] but it's strange that there isn't a bigger reaction to the empty notifications. Is it working for others?

Empty notification in human task.

Can someone tell me why the notiffications are empty?
I've run through the SOA Order booking demo - and according to the tutorial - the notification should show ho the notification is send to. I've applied the patch Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.3.0 Patch.

I guess empty here means the notification mail sent has an empty body.
There are 2 options with notification mails:
One is to make the mail secure wherein no information related to task is sent in that mail. In this case the notification message is carried as e-mail body.
The other option is mail has attachments for notification header as well as task details.
Can anyone suggest a way to have the notification header content in the mail body and task detail as an attachment.

Thunderbird has been emptying the folders I set up within my email accounts to save emails

I guess I wrongly assumed I could create folders in Thunderbird to save my emails, like on AOL. Everything was fine for a few months, but now I go to my folders and they are mostly empty. Is there a place on my PC where emails are automatically saved (I didn't set one up)? Can I recover the old emails Thunderbird has been deleting from my folders? Thanks for any and all help.

I wish, but none of these suggestions fixed it. View Messages is grayed out. My email folders are emptying one by one. I finally dug deep into my PC and found the text msf files for the items I saved, but this doesn't do me any good, they are illegible mostly. I think with hours spent on this problem already I am going to abandon Thunderbird and go to a paid provider.

[SOLVED] XPCOMGlueLoad Error with Firefox and Thunderbird

When I update xcb-util from 0.3.6-2 to 0.3.8-1 I get the following error when starting firefox or (in this case) thunderbird:
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/thunderbird/libxpcom.so:
libxcb-aux.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.
There is no libxcb-aux-so.0 in my system but if I downgrade back to 0.3.6-2 then it installs in /usr/lib/libxcb-aux.so.0. If I copy this file and then update and paste it back in then thunderbird and firefox start fine with no errors but that doesn't feel like the proper way of doing things and it might lead to conflicts.
I wouldn't mind that much but I can't upgrade things like xf86-video-intel without the newer version of xcb-util.
Any help would be appreciated.

do not skip xcb-util or any other package. just fully update everything and no, is not about libxcb is all about xcb-util
thunderbird links to startup-notification, which links to new xcb-util.
if you use a xf86-video-intel from aur, you must recompile after fully updating your system

Can't open application during notification

When I receive a notification about an email, I can't open Thunderbird until after the notification disappears. Is there a way to fix this?

Try: open the droplet in AppleScript Editor and re-save and email again (edit: right-click the droplet and select "Compress" as Frank suggested).

No show remote content message option after Thunderbird version 31.0 update

Thunderbird version 31.0 updated via its usual automatic update and now I can't see the remote content of new messages.
Through online searches I found references to the fact that the "Show remote content" button is now replaced with a new notification bar with a preferences button to show remote content.
I have no problem with this change except for the fact that I do not get this new notification bar and button, nor the old one, so I'm currently unable to get a message to load its remote content unless I enable the general privacy setting to allow remote content which is far from what I want.
I have also checked the permissions.default.image setting through the config editor and it is set to 1.
I also found search hits suggesting restarting Thunderbird if this new notification bar is missing. I have restarted TB many time and even download the installation file for version 31.0 and re-installed it that way and have also reboot my machine a few times but still no remote content message option.
Please help.

I'd like to know '''why ''' the Tbird team made it more difficult to show remote content. Was there something broken with the simple, obvious, right-there Show Remote Content button? ICalHelper re-sending ALL e-mail alarms in ALL calendars since PMU reset

Dear iCal List,
For various reasons, I reset the PMU on my PowerBook G4 today. (I had recently removed some preferences as well, in the hopes of curing an unrelated problem.) When I restarted the Mac and logged in, iCal proceeded to re-send EVERY e-mail alarm I had ever set up to today. (The PMU reset temporarily sets the clock to Dec, 1969, which I think is the problem... iCal must see this and assume that I haven't used the computer for the last 39 years....) This amounted to several hundred e-mails being generated and sent. I was able to disconnect from my LAN and eventually delete all the outbox e-mails, but this behavior of iCal and iCalHelper is exceptionally annoying.
Does anyone know (1) exactly what triggers this behavior (ie: Resetting PRAM, SMU/PMU, removing preferences, other), (2) how to stop iCalHelper from sending once it has started this (Yes, I know how to kill the process in Terminal, but once I restart iCalHelper, I'm afraid it will simply pick up where it left off.), and (3) whom to contact at Apple to ask them to rectify this annoying behavior? There isn't an obvious way to restrict iCalHelper's e-mail behavior to, say, only sending alarms for a maximum of 10 previous days. I cannot imagine a circumstance where you would want the program to look through its entire database for unsent alarms older than a certain time frame. Apple usually doesn't engage in sloppy programming. However, this unrestricted iterative loop is uncharacteristic and should be fixed. Obj-C 2.0 makes looping easy, but that shouldn't mean it's done without careful consideration and user-selected limits.

I am still trying to figure out this problem as well. My MacBook Pro's logic board was replaced, and now I get empty iCal notifications every so often, and while these empty notifications are shown, iCal Helper (the process) goes to 99% of the CPU, and starts gobbling up all the free RAM on my computer. I keep having to force-quit it, as it pops back up again after a while.
I'm looking for an answer to this as well. Is there any way to reset iCal's notification system?

Using Standart text on mail via SO10

in the mail box there is no subcect or mail body.empty notification mail.
how I can create standart text via SO10?

you should check if the text for example MAIL_FOR_I0001_A exist in client xxx or only in 000.

Can't turn off new message sound in 31.3.0: prefs checkbox has no effect

After installing this update I was surprised to hear an alert sound on each arrival of a new mail message. The related checkbox (General::Play a sound) has no effect; I get the sound whether the box is checked or unchecked. After changing the setting quitting and restarting the app has no effect.

Unchecking the box in system prefs has no effect at all. A few minutes later the box is checked again, and I have to keep hearing those annoying sounds. Any ideas why it keeps turning itself back on?

How Can I Transfer Vista Thunderbird Files and Folders To Empty Windows 7 Thunderbird Installation?

I use TB on my Vista machine.
Recently I downloaded Thunderbird on to my Windows 7 machine.
However, that installation is empty - no files or folders.
What is the easiest way to populate the Windows 7 instance with
the details from the Vista default which has been running for years.

How to get desktop notification of e.mails w/o actually opening Thunderbird

is it possible to receive a tray or other desktop notification when mail arrives without actually having to open Thunderbird and check accounts? I have searched for something that might do this in Thunderbird and my own programme settings but found nothing, maybe just dont know where to look ! Thanks, Lizzie

sorry, but I couldnt get thru' using "Mark as solved" so had to use "doesn't solve my problem". Anyway, appears to work now when I just minimise Thunderbird to taskbar I do get an info tray when new mail comes. So thanks for help, I am happy with result. Lizzie

Empty long text in notification

Hello Everyone,
Here is my problem.
We create a notification via IW21following these steps :
- Fill the mandatory fields
- Fill the Subject LONG Text
- Create the order
After saving the created notification and while trying to display/modify our notification, we find that the LONG Text previously filled EMPTY.
Can you please propose a solution to get the LONG Text once we save the notification?
For you information, I tried the solution Import FROM MEMORY ID 'SAPLSTXD000001' but the customer isn't satisfied with it and wants something more efficient.

Email Notifications - I dont want them including empty fields

Is this possible?
After my form is filled out, I only want the filled fields to show in my notification email otherwise it gets cluttered with empty fields.
I see that the person submitting the form can get an email included submitted data without the empty fields.
Is there a work around for this?

We now provide an option to not include empty fields when sending an email notification.

[SOLVED] XFCE Thunderbird Dock Notifications

I am running XFCE on my Aspire One Netbook (532h). I use Thunderbird as my e-mail client and it works great apart from a small issue. There is no dock notification in my desktop for notification of new email. I do get a green-white envelope on my Windows Thunderbird system but I don't really understand what is the difference since they both have the same exact extensions and plugins (MinimisetoTrayRevived). I read about libnotify and other things but since XFCE has its own xfce4-notifyd, I think it may be redundant to install both or am I thinking in a completely wrong direction?

Edit : I read some more about this and the green envelope in Windows is not a Thunderbird notification but a Windows notification that Thunderbird uses. Still, is there any way to replicate this in Linux?

I downloaded the Mailbox Alert but that is for floating notifications by default isn't it? Any idea what the command would be to obtain a dock notification?
