Thunderbird 31 crashing on launch on OS X 10.9.4 after upgrade from Thunderbird 24?

I installed the upgrade, from Thunderbird 24.6.0 to 31, and it would crash on the initial launch, so I tried it in safe mode, and with all the add-ins, tried clean install from the download site, all crash. OS X 10.9.4 (Mac). Anyone seeing this? Suggestions?

Right. So 1st: do I see it correctly that to "cc myself to" the bug I must
    have a Bugzilla account first?
    2nd:
    > If 29.0b1 works, 30.0b1 crashes then (to be on the safe side) the range
    > you want to binary search is http://ftp.mozilla.org/... (the last 29.0a1,

Yes, 29.0a1 works (has to - it precedes 29.0b1), and 30.0a1 crashes.
As you asked I tried 30.a1 with -offline and it comes up OK. I also
tried -offline with 31.1.1 and it comes up just fine.
I am not sure about the systematics of the directory to be able to choose
the right bisection objects. Could you explain:
    /pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/2014/02 that's clear (February)
but then it goes on with
    2014-02-03-03-02-02-comm-central/ which you suggested and
2014-02-04-00-40-03-comm-aurora/ which is unclear to me except for
being from the 4th Feb. 2014.
    What's the deal with comm-central vs. comm-aurora and what's
the meaning of 03-02-02 vs. 00-40-03? Which should I pick?
    Just the comm-central? (Any comm-central?)

After upgrading from FrameMaker 9 to 11, the program crashes when the Print Book command is selected to print files that were converted from FM 9 to FM11. (Resulting .pdf files are problematic, w/ broken links and non-functioning bookmarks.)  Has anyone encountered this issue, and can you suggest a workaround? Thank you!

  • Graphics instability and crashing after upgrade from FF 32 to 33

Soon after upgrading from 32.0.3 to 33 (Windows 7), I was seeing occasional flicker-like split-second black flashes. (I *think* this was mostly when opening new pages, but I don't recall for sure...maybe also when scrolling). Then a few minutes later I was scrolling a page with my laptop touchpad and the screen flashed completely black, stayed that way for about a second, and then came back up with a Windows message that Intel Graphics had recovered from a crash. (Which is doubly interesting given that FF set to use my discrete NVIDIA graphics on this computer.). I haven't seen anything like this happen in the nine months I've had this laptop, with or without FF open. There was also a message that FF had crashed.
Then I restarted FF, and all was going OK, except that I believe I still saw a few split-second "in the blink of an eye" black screens as I opened new pages. But then I went to Google Maps, and was dragging a map upwards. But instead of the lower portion of the map moving into view, I only got a blank white screen. The further up I dragged the map, the more of the the screen that was blank white, until it was completely white. Then FF crashed again.
I thought the new FF native H.264 might be causing the issue so I disabled it and restarted FF. But then I went back to Google Maps, tried the same thing and had the same issue (but no associated crash, although I closed FF very soon after I saw the odd graphics behavior recurring so maybe I didn't give it enough "time to crash").
I re-installed 32.0.3 and all the issues went away. FWIW, I've had occasional crashes and slowdowns with 32 and other recent versions. (I could recover from the slowdowns just by restarting FF.) Most of those issues seemed to be associated with Adobe Flash. That behavior was an occasional annoyance but nothing of the magnitude of what happened when I tried FF 33. I don't know if this latter observation adds anything, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. Fyi, the laptop has 2.4 Ghz CPU (Intel i7) and 16GB memory.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Today when I noted that Lenovo still hadn't released an updated driver specifically for the Intel Graphics, I went back and installed a Lenovo NVIDIA Optimus update that I had tried 4 or 5 months ago but had subsequently reversed because it had created problems with Firefox. (Specifically, it was causing Firefox context menus to render slowly and incompletely.) Not only does the NVIDIA update no longer cause the FF context menu problem, it seems to have *solved* the problem I posted about here. It updated the NVIDIA driver ("GPU #2" above) from version 9.18.13.1269 to version 9.18.13.3302.
This makes some intuitive sense, since -- as I said above -- I have Optimus set to use the NVIDIA graphics with Firefox instead of Intel. (I had thought that, based on what I read in Lenovo support, the NVIDIA Optimus update might install a new Intel Graphics driver as well, but the Intel driver is still shown as the same version listed above (8.15.10.2725). (I don't know whether or not these driver numbers might be Lenovo-specific.)
Anyway, the NVIDIA Optimus update fixed my problem, so thanks for pointing me in the direction of graphics drivers. (I suppose there's also a small possibility that something had simply gone awry with my first update to FF 33, and that what really solved things was simply reinstallingl...)

  • Help does not launch after upgrading from RH5 to RH7

My problem is similar to CaroMe1's. Topics within chm files
created using RH5 and integrated into our software product launch
correctly when a Help button is clicked on a dialog. After
upgrading to RH7, using the the same project files, chm files
created using RH7 do not launch at all; that is, nothing happens
when a Help button is clicked on any dialog.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

The .chm filename and the .xpj filename are the same.
Sorry if I was swerving and incoherent! I probably shouldn't
have posted after traveling and no sleep!
Here is how I tested for the source of this problem:
    1. I created a .chm file using RH 5, integrated it into our
product, clicked on the Help button on any of our dialogs, and the
    appropriate Help topic displayed.
    2. I created a .chm file using RH 7 (using the exact same
project files as in the previous step), integrated it into our
product, clicked on the Help button on any of our dialogs, and
nothing happened. No topic, no Help. Nothing.
Is that a better description of the problem? (I hope)
    Thanks again!

Yesterday I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 using an install disk mailed from Adobe.  Photoshop CS6 itself appears to be working fine, but both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bridge CS6 crash on startup with the standard Windows popup ("Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working.  Windows is searching for a solution...").  Bridge CS5 still works great, as it did before the CS6 installation.

The installation is on a machine dedicated to Photoshop whose system info is included below.  I'm running a multi-disk setup with 1 SSD as my C drive, another SSD for Temp and Scratch (in different partitions on the same SSD), and a RAID 5 array of hard drives for the actual image files.  To my knowledge I'm running with the latest drivers of everything.
I'm not sure how to move forward at this point.  Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.

Thanks Curt, but this is not a virus issue.  Think about it, how could the ntdll.dll file be virus infected and yet only impact the running of this single application?  That really wouldn't make sense now would it?  That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files.  The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer.  I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail.  I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work.  I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works.

  • ITunes 6.0.3 crashing after upgrade from 6.0.2

The update process worked ok (message during install to close iTunes - did so then completed).
After a reboot (due to 10.4.5 update at same time) iTunes keeps crashing after about 30mins. It doesn't matter what the source is - iPod, hard-drive, copied music, purchased music.
I have submitted the report to apple and will post here when it happens again.
    Anyone getting the same error?

Not sure then. Might be worth trying to fix the permissions from the OSX install CD. Boot into the Cd and choose utilities-disk utility. In there is a function to check/fix permissions.
If that doesn't work, try moving your iTunes music library, then point iTunes to the new location. This should rule out any sharing issues.

  • SMS_Exec service crashing repeatedly after upgrade from SCCM 2012 SP1 to 2012R2

SCCM 2012R2 is running on 2008R2 in the primary site. After the upgrade to R2 we noticed that none of the stats or collection memberships were updating. We also couldn't manually run summerization on any deployments.
We started digging through logs and looking at some of the threads on there with similar issues but couldn't see any issues with inbox contents or any of the other suggested fixes. We tried repairing .NET but that didn't help.
If anyone can help guide us in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I've included the crash.log below.

    Hi,
    I agree with Jason.
You'd better contact product support so that they can track the crash to see if there is a common theme
around it, thus the need for a hotfix. Or maybe there is already a hotfix for this that has not been made public yet.

  • After upgrading from Trial to Monthly subscription plan I have the Adobe Pro crashing every time I open it, with a note" Acrobat quit unexpectedly". How can I make it work?

    Hi,
Can anybody advise how I can make my Adobe Pro work? Now it it gives me a note "Adobe quit unexpectedly" each time I launch it. I have it on iMac. The trial version worked no problem, glitches started after I bought a monthly subscription.
    Thank you in advance.

If you are on Windows, I would go to Control Panel>Programs & Features and do a repair.

  • Yosemite crashes on boot after upgrading from lion

Downloaded Yosemite and installed - it then crashes on boot about 10 - 15% through (with Apple logo). Have restored Time Machine twice. *** is the problem? 2011 Mac Mini with zero third party software, thing gets bored daily just web browsing, playing music, and storing pictures... can Apple please produce some decent software for a change? Any solutions would be gratefully received

The next time the problem happens, note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. Be selective about what you post and don’t  post huge amounts. Make sure there is no personal data visible. Information learned from Linc Davis.

  • I have upgraded from Thunderbird to Earlybird.

When I get emails they show in Inbox but I have to click on them to see them. This didn't happen with TBird.

I'm using the standard release Thunderbird 31.0
All my mail accounts are Pop mail accounts so they are downloaded to the respective mail accounts in Thunderbird on my computer.
I have to select an email to read it. i've never known any different. Emails do not auto open without selecting by some method.
eg; Next unread message or use arrow keys etc
If I delete an email then it will auto select the next email unless you use the 'Deselect on Delete 1.1' addon.
Maybe you have an IMAP mail account?
When you subscribe to see folders, only the headers are downloaded, then when you select to read an email, the folder is downloaded to a temp cache to faciltate quicker access.
If you synchronize any or all of your subscribed folders then a copy of the folder is downloaded to Thunderbird and you can read these emails even if using offline mode.

  • All VIs containing MathScript cause a fatal crash after upgrading from 8.2 to 8.5... what gives?

So I finally took the plunge and updated to 8.5 from 8.2 and now when I open a project that was previously done (as in ready for release this week ) it causes a hard crash where LabVIEW closes completely.  I've looked and can't seem to find any others complaining of this.  My only option that works at this point is to have a coworker open all my VIs containing mathscript and delete the function with his 8.2 enviornment.  What could be causing this?  There has to be some simple answer...somewhere.
Thanks in advance for all the help!
    Regards,
    Dave

These VIs work fine for me under LV 8.2 and will no longer work under LV 8.5.  The first one is a call to our power supplies, the second uses the math formula node to verify that some color and luminance parameters are valid.
In the meantime I am stuck using a coworkers 8.2 development system with TS 3.5 to deploy which works with no issues.  When I try on my new system with 8.5 and TS 4.0 it crashes out.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Regards,
    Dave

  • After upgrading from XP to Vista Ipod crashes my computer

I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled according to Apple's Vista upgrade instructions. I was unable to check enable iPod as a hard drive and when I connected my 60 GB Video iPod my computer fatally crashed on 3 separate occasions. Looking for any help I can get.

Seeing as you have already read the articles from Apple about Vista, there is nothing I can say except to wait for the next version of iTunes, which will fully support Vista.
