. You do not need a seperate Apple ID. One one device you just need to go to Settings>Messages and add another/different Messaging email address and delete the common Apple ID address. Also see:

You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.

Wipe iPhone/iPad/iPod touch clean
There are a few steps to do:
Switch off iMessage in Settings > Messages
Switch off FaceTime in Settings > FaceTime (iPod touch 4th Generation or later, iPhone 4 or later and iPad 2 or later)
Delete iCloud in Settings > iCloud > Delete Account
Finally Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Un-register your device: https://supportprofile.apple.com
Now you can sell/give.
Now, you should get her a new Apple ID to sign in the options above.

This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage. You can continue to share the same ID for pruchasing from the iTunes & App stores, but you should be using a different ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (so you are both using a different ID for iMessage); or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

What type of messages are you talking about? Recovered from where?
It would help us to know which computer model you have, which OS & version you're using, how much RAM, etc. You can have this info displayed on the bottom of every post by completing your system profile and filling in the information asked for.

You're getting these in messages while you're composing? This issue usually comes up with ''incoming'' mail and is also often seen in browsers. They can be connected with users who use non-standard fonts such as wingdings in their email.
None of the things you say you have tried are likely to affect it. Gnospen is thinking of the '''View|Character Encoding''' setting; mine is set to Unicode and I don't understand why anyone would choose one of the regional variants when Unicode is available.

To prevent messages from reaching both devices you can turn off Messages on the device you do not want to receive messages but keep Messages on on the device you do want to receive Messages.
You might also look at this option for both devices.
Settings > Messages > Send and Receive > review the a riotous choices for how you can e reached and select the ones that are most appropriate for you and the device you are setting.

The NEF file only gives a little "nef" icon. i was able to convert the NEF to DNG on the old computer and then brought the files over to the new computer. On the old computer, the NEF files were depicted as little jpeg's so I would be able to see a picture of what each file represented. On the new computer, both the NEF files and the DNG files are depicted with icons, "nef" or "dng", but not as little pictures. On the new computer, though, I am to import the DNG's into Adobe and edit them so that is working regardless of whether or not a picture is present for the icon of each file. I've downloaded the DNG converter from Adobe and will try the conversion directly on the new computer when I get home from work. I do appreciate your responses and will let you know how it works.
I am curious then, since right now the files are represented by little "nef"'s and little "dng"'s: If I also download the viewNX (spelling might be wrong, sorry) from nikon, do you know if that maintains the file as a RAW format file but allows a picture representation of the RAW file for the icon? (That would make it easier to choose which RAW files I would choose to edit and which to not even bother with as an initial culling if that makes sense.

If you are using the phone on a carrier that doesn't officially support iPhones, the phone will send SMS messages to an activation number. If that's the case, your option is to turn off iMessage.

For some reason the tracks on my Zen Micro revert to being listed alphabetically even though on the track details the track number will be there. That is how the player works. When you are in "library", go to "artist" just like before, <EM>except this time</EM> click "view albums". Click the albums of that artist you want to play, and the tracks will play in album track order. The queue SSR speaks of is the "now playing" or "selected music" thing. When a track is playing and you have the normal track screeen on the Zen, click the button to toggle to the "now playing" view. This is the list of all the stuff that will play in order (unless you have the play mode set to shuffle). Imagine you have an artist with 20 albums. I have this situation. How would the Zen know what order you wanted the tracks in if you just clicked "artist", then "play"? It defaults to alphabetical, since there are going to be 20 track , 20 track 2, etc..

Firefox always opens with two tabs, one the tab I want, plus an additional tab NEW TAB which I don't want. How can I stop the additional NEW TAB?

I open Firefox in new windows for sites I want to go to. I don't open in Tabs. Each time I open an new firefox window and when I restore the windows I had open, each site has an additional tab (2-tabs). The first tab is the site I want up the second tab is NEW TAB. I have to go through 10 to 14 Firefox windowe to close each 2nd and additional NEW TAB to individually close the NEW TABS. I had this before updating to the current Firefox and thought upgrading would solve this issue, but it didn't.

I started in safe Mode. I have the default theme. Starting in safe mode still gave me the same problem. I went back to the normal Firefox and still had the same problem. Yesterday I restarted my computer for 11 Windows updates. I am not going to spend all day starting and restarting my computer and removing my History and whatever else. Firefox should have a direct contact to it's users, to assist them instead of having their users work for them as forum responders and trouble shooters. This has already taken up way too much of my time.
I will say in normal Firefox the additional NEW TAB had no URL in it, but it did have the 12 icons on the page. In Safe Mode it had a URL that began with Chrome and it had a blank page, it didn't have the 12 icons as in normal mode. I don't have anything Chrome on my computer.

Multiple messages being sent and received in Mail

When I send a message in Mail, the activity bar indicates that three messages (for example) are being sent, but the Sent folder indicates that only one was sent. When a message comes in, I am notified that 18 messages (for example) are arriving, but the Inbox contains only one new message. I know that Mavericks has a few problems with Mail, but I’ve had Mavericks since a couple weeks after it was released, and the Mail problem only started a few days ago. Earlier, I had been receiving a number of warnings in another email programme that messages were being sent from my accounts that were not being received and that I did not send. Fearing that these accounts had been hacked, I installed 1Password and changed all my email passwords. I think, but am not sure, that the Mail problem began about the time I started using 1Password. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

This is with iMessages only.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and below the Start New Conversations From, select your cell phone number instead of your Apple ID email address.

I am running version 5 and every dayI get an unwanted pop up for update to version 6. How can I stop this pop up?

I believe version 6 is still beta and I do not want to install it until it has been fully tested. That is why I don't want or need the update pop up. How can I block pop ups relating to version 6 until I download it.

Here is how to do it:
Firefox > Options > Options > Advanced [Tab] > Update [Tab]
Then uncheck 'Firefox'. This will do the trick.
Also if you don't want any notifications about updating of other parts uncheck all of the available things there.

A rectangle box come up sometimes when I boot up my computer, it says, Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now? and has four boxes Restart, Sleep,Cancel and Shut Down. How can I get rid of this annoying occurance?

That box is normally invoked with Control-Eject.
