Thunderbird as mail client

Hello,
Can you configured Mozilla Thunderbird (2.x) to be the default mail client for iPhoto '09?
Information that I have found (from 2003) suggested Thunderbird was not AppleScript friendly and thus not supported by iPhoto. I hope to get up-to-date information regarding this.
Thanks!

A Thunderbird still isn’t scriptable, it’s still not possible. This hook is built on a series of AppleScripts.

  • Wrong date and time in apple's mail client

All mails in my inbox are displaying date at 1429 a.c. Although through my web gmail interface, dates are correct the mac client is fault. I also tried with Thunderbird e-mail client and i also get wrong date and time. I checked the date and time preferences and everything is correct.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi,
In the Initial screen, please remove the tick for Display Header. It will not give any header details after execution. If you want to remove only date, you just check with your ABAPer, he can help by changing in program.
    Thanks

  • Can not access my gmail account from Thunderbird mail client - account marked with padlock

I am moving from an telia.com to a gmail.com mail account using a thunderbird mail client. Has been working fine until last evening. When my client could not access gmail anymore. The problem is displayed with a padlock o n the mail account.

Yes OK padlock has been there before problem occurred - still I have the problem Thunderbird just keeps on working and is not able to access gmail server and I do not see any error indication

  • Thunderbird mail client

How do I set Thunderbird as my default mail client? It doesn't show up as a choice in iPhoto preferences.

There's no direct way but there is an indirect way:
You could File, Export a smaller image to your Desktop and drag, drop that image onto the T'bird icon. A new blank message should open.

  • Sending email using system default mail client on linux and Mac

Want to send e-mail using defalut mail client of Linux, Mac OSX, others.

Your question may be about mail, and your question may be about Java,
but the JavaMail library can't do what you're asking.
I know of no platform-independent way to do what you're asking.
You can write lots of platform-dependent code - to do it with Outlook
on Windows, to do it with AppleMail on MacOS, to do it with Thunderbird
on Linux - but I know of no way to do it with whatever mail client the
user has configured on any system.
    Sorry.

  • Need ical to send email notices to Thunderbird not Mail...

Hi, when I setup email notices for reminders in ical it sends them to Mail instead of sending them to Thunderbird which is my default email client. Any suggestions on how to make this happen would be great... thank you

    soilsenasuil,
Have you chosen Thunderbird to be your default mail client in Mail...>Preferences...>General>Default email reader:? Also make sure that the "Send new messages from:" in Mail>Preferences...>Composing...uses the correct email address.
Additionally any accounts listed in Mail should have the Mail>Preferences...>Accounts>Advanced>"Enable this account" deselected.

  • Can't setup POP3 E-mail on mail client on my MacBook Pro

So this problem is getting really out of hand and I'm not sure what options I have left. So here are the details:
I'm trying to set up my work e-mail (the site host is Network Solutions) with Mail. There seem to be no problems with the online client. I can sign on without any troubles so password and username are correct. I'm using Mail 4.4. I first enter my name, e-mail, and password with no problems. Then for the incoming mail server I do the same, choosing POP, and I get the following message:
"The POP server "mail.companysite.com" (with the proper domain inserted) is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages."
i get this regardless if i put my username as just username or [email protected] and my network connection is fine as my other e-mail accounts (2 gmails set up as IMAP) work just fine. I've tried using different ports other than the default 110. Still the same problem.
An interesting little quirk is that at one point it actually did work, then suddenly without any changes to anything that I could tell, it stopped. When it was working, I had it set up on my iPod touch and even when it stopped on my computer it kept working on my iPod. But that also didn't last as now I can no longer connect or even set it up.
But wait! There's more. I've tried all the different debugging methods I can come up with, including trying to set it up on different e-mail clients, Entourage and Thunderbird, with the same result. Then I eventually tried it on another computer, on a PC running Windows XP, and wouldn't you know it, it set up without a hitch! so this means that my account is properly set up for this. Furthermore, I know it is possible to use an e-mail client on a mac with this domain as one of my coworkers has set it up on Entourage and Mail as well as his iPhone. I have no firewall settings currently on so nothing should be blocking and i've tried it using several different internet connections in different countries (seemingly then it's not a router or modem issue)
Anyone have any ideas? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if there's any more info you would need me to provide.

Create a New User Account, and as that New User try to set up this one account -- as it is POP, set to leave messages on the server after download. If not familiar with setting up a New User Account, see:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
This will be a useful test, and is not meant to suggest a permanent switch to the New User Account, but rather a test of the Mail application outside of your normal User Account.
Also in System Preferences/Networks click on Advanced, then Proxies and make sure no proxy selections have been checked.

  • [solved] XFCE default mail client

In preferred applications in the XFCE settings manager the two simple questions appeared: default web browser and default mail client.  I set these to firefox and thunderbird respectively, and XFCE indeed recognized that I meant Bon Echo and Mail/News. For the strangest reason, every hyperlink to an HTTP or FTP protocol will indeed open up in firefox and go where it should, but mailto links will do nothing.  In firefox I searched about:config for all options containing the world "mail" and set them to enable as many things as possible.  Gmail is smart enough to open mailto links because it overrides the default mail client behaviour and just opens up a Gmail compose window, which I'm sure many of you know.  This is another one of those minor problems that I'm having alot of these days, so any help would be appreciated.

  • How to reset time for Firefox' mail client, so it would match my desktop's summer time?

After I changed time from winter to summer on my desktop, information about the time when I sent or receive e-mail using Firefox Internet browser and Google mail client is one hour off:
When I check my SENT box, there is information about my immediate recent message that suggests that it has been sent out an hour ago.
I tried to find relevant Google mail client's and Firefox Internet browser settings, but couldn't.
    What should I do?
    Thank you.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

  • Forms 6i, open default mail client and add attachment to message

    Hi,
I would like to use some functionality in my forms application. I want call some action, that opens default mail client in windows platform and add some attachment to message. I want to do this for my reports. I am exporting reports to PDF files. I am using oracle forms / reports 6.0.8.12.1 version. And I cant use build-in PDF export functionality, because exported PDF files are in old PDF version and I have problem with Czech charakters. So I am using my own virtual PDF printer for printing reports. A now I would like to send report as mail attachment. I know that there is this functionality in report preview. When I click button with letter image (showed on screenshot at http://img20.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=00067_screen_122_899lo.JPG) the default mail client is opened in this is created new messages with report (eps) in attachment.
That is what i need. Only open default mail client and add own attachment to message.
I found only one solution for Outlook, but I need open default mail client (for example Mozilla Thunderbird etc.)
Can You help me? Or send some solution how it is solved in report previewer?
    Thank you.

  • Migrating for outlook to t-bird, trying to import mail, error "either there is no default mail client...", I have confirmed that outlook is default, ?

I am migrating from Outlook to Thunderbird.
I have purchased a new computer running windows 8.
I have copied the outlook data file from my old computer to he new computer.
I have installed Thunderbird on my new computer.
I try to import existing email stored in Outlook to Thunderbird.
I get the message "either there is no default mail client..." I have made Outlook the default mail client and have rebooted the computer.
Any way to get thunderbird to recognize the Outlook file?
    Tom

The automatic import routine only works if you have TB and the old program installed on the same machine. If possible, I suggest you install TB on the old computer that currently has Outlook, run the auto-import, and then transfer the TB profile from the old computer to TB on the new machine.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Move_to_a_new_PC
The method I've found that is the simplest and most reliable is to copy the Thunderbird folder from the old machine to the new one:

  • Sync error message about mail client - using Outlook Express, wants Outlook

I keep getting a message that "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client"
Outlook Express IS set as my default mail client, both on my computer and on the iTunes screen.
I use Calendar on the iPhone, but do not have sync requested on iTunes for this function.
I do have Outlook on my computer, but do not use it (don't need calendar function at home, but do like to have it on my iPhone since I carry it with me)

I'm having a similar problem. "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client." (iTunes 7.6.1.9)
I sync my contacts with Yahoo! (not Outlook).
I was syncing my calendar with Outlook. This was working just fine, but when I started to get the error above, I have tried turning off the calendar sync. No help there.
I am not syncing any email accounts via iTunes.
Anyone have any suggestions? Given that I'm not syncing with Outlook I don't understand the error. Thunderbird is my default mail client and I shouldn't have to change the system defaults to work around this bug.

  • Submit By Email Doesn't Launch Outlook 2010 as Default Mail Client, though Outlook is properly set a

A form designed in LiveCycle Designer with a Submit By Email button, doesn't launch Outlook 2010 (Standard Edition) when clicked, although Outlook is properly configured as Default Mail Client.  Checked with Microsoft and followed all proper steps yet the button doesn't invoke Outlook onClick.  However, Outlook is launched if a link or html button, set to the mailto syntax is clicked.  Is this a PDF form issue for LiveCycle or is there something I am missing?  Please any ideas?

I have this problem on Win7 64bit, but it seems to work fine with XP and Vista. Not sure about Win7 32bit.
I've also seen the problem in the past with programs like Thunderbird set to be the default email client (on XP).
I've never been able to figure out if it's an Adobe or Microsoft problem. Adobe uses the MAPI settings to find the email client.
