Thunderbird Contacts Into iPod Touch?

Good Evening,
I'm thinking of getting an iPod Touch. One of the things I like about it is all the apps.
I use Thunderbird for e-mail (I hate Microsoft Exchange). Is there an app that would let me transfer my Thunderbird contacts into the iPod Touch?

Thanks for the response, but I admit I'm a little confused. I thought iPods only allow contacts via Exchange?
I'm on a Vista computer, so I don't have accedd to Entourage or iCal (at least I don't think I do).
I was hoping for an app that could sync Thunderbird contacts without exporting. It would be a major hassle to keep exporting my contacts list, as I add new contacts all the time.
Just out of curiosity, why doesn't Apple let iPods work with Thunderbird contacts? I would think they would want this, as Exchange is a Microsoft (i.e., major competitor) product!

No, you use iTunes on either a PC or a Mac as the Apple article says in the link I supplied in my previous post.

Mailing "group" contacts via iPod Touch?

Hi all,
Curious--is there a way to email a 'group' of contacts via iPod Touch? I have 23 students in any given year, and I would like to simply insert a 'group' name to have the names appear in the bcc" field. I'd really rather NOT type/select in each name one, by one, by one, by one..
it's easily done on the Mac--is there a way to do it on the iPod Touch?

Okay, so there isn't a way (yet) to do the "mail to group" thing. However, I found--via Apple Learning Interchange that there is such an app called Mail2Group that does that very thing--works with the Mail app on the iPod Touch
and it DOES work..

Can't transfer contacts from ipod touch to ipad mini!!

My son has several contacts on his ipod touch (5th gen). I simply want to move these to the new ipod mini we’ve just bought him.
I’ve followed all the articles on the Apple support pages but can’t figure out how to do this.
Synced old ipod via itunes to sync contacts etc
I’ve set up new ipad mini with pc and itunes
ipad has latest IOS
Synced new ipad etc
Whatever I do I simply can’t get the contacts on his ipod to appear in his new ipad mini!
The only thing I can think of is that he created the contacts mainly for face time purposes so they only exist on the ipod. That said I thought syncing would do the trick.
Any advice would be much appreciated as I’m determined to do this on principle now!

Contacts Icon - iPod Touch 4th Gen

OK, since the old man owns an iPad, I got picked to help my niece set up her new iPod Touch (4th gen). What planet is all this music coming from??
Anyway, we've done pretty well, but I cannot find the "Contacts" icon that I'm accustomed to seeing on my iPad. We were able to sync contacts from her PC's email address book, and I can find them by going into email or FaceTime, but that just seems awkward. Since it is new, she only has two pages of icons/apps, so I'm sure it's not there. I tried resetting the Home Pay layout from within Settings, but that didn't fix the problem. Am I missing something here? Thanks for your help.

It should be in the Utilities folder. You can also use the Spotlight search to find it.

How do I "reset" calendars and contacts on iPod Touch 2G

I need to know how to erase and/or reset all contacts and calendars on my ipod Touch. Initially I synced with my mobileme account. When one of my contacts did not sync properly, however, I set iTunes to sync with calendars and contacts. Now I have duplicate contact and calendar entries on my Touch. I want to erase/reset all calendars and contacts on my Touch, and then sync them again and in the future via mobileme. Please help. Thanks!

Ah, I see what you did. However I think my problem is a little bit different. I have my "mobile.me" contact file (which syncs just fine), PLUS I have an "on my iPod touch" contact file. I'd like to delete the "on my iPod" set of info and retain the Apple (me.com) info.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Can't load contacts to ipod touch

My son has an ipod touch, 5th gen with 64 megs of memory. It is new and we are just starting to upload information to it. It appears now, that as you try and upload contacts, it deletes previously stored ones. We haven't been able to get past a contact or two.

I tried the restore from backup and it did not work. I think I'll just wait until iOS6 and watch movies on my IPad. Don't want to do the factory restore if possible.
Any other tips are welcome!

Problems syncing yahoo contacts to ipod touch Model MB5286 Version 4.2.1

For the last 2 years I have had no trouble updating my yahoo contacts to my ipod touch. I just plugged in my ipod and away it went. More recently, the iTunes format appears to have changed and I no longer see the same iPod information menus as before. Last month I tried syncing my ipod to my computer to update contacts and now my contacts list is empty on my iPod, even though the status line during synchronization shows that "syncing contacts" is being done. I've updated my iPod passwords under "settings" to match my Rogers Yahoo email account as I thought that may have been the problem.
What is odd is that I now have a new, more updated iPod touch and it syncs just fine. Any ideas as to how I can get the contacts back on my older model MB5286 (it's only 2.5 years old).

I just got a new iPod touch (5th gen) and can't figure out how to transfer the contacts from my old iPod touch (2nd gen). I was able to sync my contacts in the 2nd gen iPod touch with my Google account when it was connected to iTunes, but I don't see that option now with the 5th gen touch. It only looks like it can sync to iCloud.

How to delete calendar and contacts from iPod Touch

I have sold my iPod Touch and did a restore before I send it to the buyer. I was able to delete everything except my contacts and calendar info. I have the software upgrade and do not want to lose this! Other than going in and deleting each item one by one, is there another way to get that info off of the iPod. And, I did uncheck all of the boxes in iTunes for calendar, contacts, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The software upgrade is tied to your iTunes account, not the your iPod. It'll stay on as long it doesn't have to be restored, but once the buyer restores it, there'll be no way for him to get it back.
Still, if you completely restore it, the contacts shouldn't be on there anymore.

Contacts and Ipod Touch HELP!!

I have recently left school and the school deleted my itunes and basically reset my computer (toshiba windows XP) ! i have and ipod touch (running version 3.1.2 bit old haven't been able to sync) which was synced with that computer. On that ipod touch there are 500 contacts. Now i can't sync that ipod with the computer as it will erase all of the contacts! For christmas i got a Mac and have been trying to figure out how to sync the ipod! any ideas how to still keep the contacts but sync the Ipod or even just back it up??

A manual backup will help in your situation. Here's how to:
Make sure your new Mac is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your Mac, to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Address Book on iMac is out of synch with Contacts on iPod Touch. How do I get them in synch (through iCloud/iTunes)?

I'm confused about the different versions of Address Book on iMac. I set up iTunes to synch Address Book with my iPod Touch 5th Gen. through iCloud. Somehow they got out of synch.
There are three sections or versions of Address Book on my iMac: (1) "All Contacts," (2) "On My Mac: All on My Mac" and (3) "iCloud: All iCloud."
"All Contacts" seems to combine the last two. Unfortunately, contacts that got added to "On My Mac" are NOT being synched to iCloud and to my iPod.
What can I do to get them in synch and how can I avoid this in the future?

There are settings in the Contacts apps if you tap "groups". Check all.
And in settings, check in iCloud to see that all contacts are switched to on in all accounts.

Sprint/CDMA iPhone 4 into iPod touch?

I have a Sprint (CDMA) iPhone 4 that is due to be deactivated on 2/26. Ive already erased all my data, removed it from my iTunes account, turned off iMessaging etc. to get ready for resale but maybe I'll just keep it as an iPod Touch.. Each of the walkthroughs I've read talk about having an active SIM card when going through making it into an iPod but being a Sprint phone there is no SIM card. Is there a specific way to go through setting it up, should I wait til its actually deactivated, or should I just go through like I'm setting it up as a phone and just put it in airplane mode?

I am not sure but I believe that if it has a SIM card in it and you connec the phone to itunes it should appear in the list of devices in the left margin of itunes

Cant log into ipod touch

I was able to log into my ipod touch with no problems since I bought it but all of a sudden starting this morning, it no longer allows me to log in at all. the screen just freezes and/or it just turns itself off.
Anyone know how to get past this problem?

- First try resetting the iPOd. Nothing will be lost.
- Next try restoring the iPof via iTunes
