Thunderbird encrypted the mail inbox and I cannot read any email

When I open the inbox, all emails are encrypted (with symbols and numbers) and I cannot read any email. How I can recover all the emails or solve the problem?

Thunderbird does not encrypt anything. What you are seeing is more than likely file corruption.
Right click the problem folder and select Properties. Then Repair Folder.
Be prepared to lose messages if the corruption is too bad.

When using Preferences to change the email to Xfinity Lite you loose certain valuable features available in the full verfsiion. This may work for some but I enjoy attaching photos in some emails and having them show in he message boz along with a message. It's a shame that two multi-national companys can't get their act straight. Comcast blames Firefox, Firefox blames Concast. In the meantime users are forced to use Internet Explorer. I hate this kind of stupidity. Millions of consumers are inconvenienced. I suspect that Microsoft and Comcast are schemeing in this matter.

Since doing this Aperture cannot locate any itunes music files and so I cannot add any music to a slideshow. All of my existing slideshows no longer play music. Can anyone help?

Thank you for your prompt response - I did as you said and did a drag and drop into the iTunes window - it imported and got my album art from the net. When I started Itunes with the shift key down I was prompted to choose a library but since I copied over the media folder and not the library folder I was unable to select that so I guess I will have to create a new library and add in all the music, videos, etc. unless I wait for my laptop and export the library or at least that seems to be the case? In short, all my data (iTunes media folder) is on my external drive and can be added to the blank iTunes screen but I can not choose a library folder. Is there anyway around completely making all those playlists again? I am not sure my laptop will survive the shop with data intact and really hate to start over on those.
In an unrelated question - I collect old TV shows from the 1950's. Can I make playlists within the home video folder somehow? In other words like one for Quiz shows, one for comedies, one for police and detective shows, etc. while I am remaking all my playlists for my music if I end up having to go that route?

At the urging of an Apple Store employee, I upgraded to OS Lion X. However, Excel does not recognize the hard drive and I cannot save any work. I understand there is a small compatibility issue - any suggestions ?

If you made a backup before installing lion, now would be a good time to restore that backup.... Ok, well you can always boot into lion recovery menu.... shut down your mac, hold down the option key and restart your computer..... Select recovery from the disk startup menu and go to disk utility... select the OSX disk, you can try repairing your permissions and repairing the disk.... If you lucky enough, it will fix it.... If not, and you have a decent internet connection, click the reinstall LION OSX after exiting disk utility. Your mac will now REDOWNLOAD LION OSX and reinstall it.... did you happen to make a backup before?
Also, did your mac originally have Leopard? Just curious... Because LION is entirely 64bit now where as Snow leopard had support for 32 bit as well, but the problem may be that some of your older apps where 32 bit.... This is just a guess though I'm not sure.... Because I've had numerous problems and crashes with my CS 4 stuff and final cut pro 7 and aperature.... Not sure if it's totally related to the whole 64 bit thing, but the thing is that the crashes are only occuring on my 32 bit apps.... otherwise the computer runs great.... To remedy, I had previously made an OSX lion USB drive so that I could do a fresh install of LION. I backed up all my data and files, installed a new SSD and my Macbook is SCREAAAAAAMING fast.... Sorry about the gloating but I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of your problem....

I had to change my cel phone for work, IPhone4 to Samsung 4, Telus to Bell.
Now I cannot receive any test messages from ANY IPhone user. Their phone defaults to IM, not text.
I have de-registered my phone, turned off IM, but still no messages. Help

I have read all of these posts after switching from iPhone to galaxy s4 and this is the only process that I found to work:
Have iPhone user send you a text, it will send as imessage and you will not receive it. Have that user then long press the message text (blue text) and an option will pop up to send as sms text. Select it and it will send to your phone. The iPhone user has to do the send as sms text 3-4 times consecutively then it will learn to send that way by default. Has worked for 5 straight iPhone contacts so far.

CANNOT SEND ANY EMAILS!!!!

I finally downloaded the desktop manager last week and backed up my berry (after a year!). At the same time it updated my system to a newer version. Since then, my battery life is greatly diminished (one day only) and I cannot send ANY emails. I can send text messages, but not emails. I select "send" and the email just sits there. I also can't select "save draft". I can only select "delete", but then it warns me that I haven't saved (which is so annyoing, since I can't save!!) Help!!!!!

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner:
With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescirbed for most gltiches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Now try sending an email again. If still no lunck:
On your BlackBerry device, go to:
1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.

Using the Hotmail account thru Windows 7; MSN; Hotmail; we can sign into hotmail and cannot read any of the e-mail files. This is just on this computer. We can read Hotmail on our other computers. How do I fix this?

We use Firefox and can access any site we'd like until we sign into hotmail.com. We are using windows 7. The Hotmail site brings up the e-mail listings but we cannot open any of them in any of the folders. Do you have a solution? It is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted if clearing cookies doesn't work.

About accessing using a browser: I can get in using Firefox or Safari, butI cant set the page up to see all my inboxes at the same time (so I can file emails appropriately) or get a preview to save opening every mail

I am planning on using Mail.app on Leopard (10.5).
My worry is that I rely heavily on GnuPG for emails (S/MIME alone doesn't cut it), and I would like to have something like Enigmail/Enigmime (Mozilla Thunderbird) that allows me to sign/encrypt and use PGP/MIME for outgoing emails, and decrypt/verify/read incoming emails using GnuPG
(enigmail is just a wrapper as far as I know).
Is there any way to get this working on Leopard's Mail.app program?
I really need it to work "flawlessly" (i.e. very stable) in order to make a switch-over.
If it's not possible on the current version, and any Apple developers read this, could you please put it high on the wish list and either make a plugin to make it work or add it as a normal feature of Mail.app?
Second less important question: I saw that I can use SSL for IMAP and for POP3, as well as for SMTP. If I want to use TLS, how do I go about it? Do I just select SSL and change the port number?

In my Thunderbird I have 2 inboxes and deleted folders, 1 set in local folders 1 set above. How do I get back to only having one inbox and one deleted folders.

I have one account in my Thunderbird mail. Some days ago I discovered I had two inboxes and two deleted folders. One set appears in the list at the lefthandside above local folders and the other set is under local folders. My outbox also appears under local folders.
I have deleted or moved all the mail entris in the inbox which appears under local folders.
How do I delete the superfluous inbox and deleted folders? How do I move the outbox so it appears above the local folders in the list? Many thanks for your help.

Surely as I only have one account, I should only have one inbox. How does my POP mail decide into which inbox to put my incoming mail? The two inbox icons have the downward pointing arrow. One inbox is the first entry in the list (below my email address) and the second is the first entry below local folders.

Export Mail inbox and sent mailbox to an Outlook 2003 compatible file

I need to export my Mail inbox and sent mailbox to a file or files that can be imported into MS Outlook 2003 on a PC.
I can find menu options for importing files (although no Outlook files) but don't see a menu entry for exporting mailboxes.
Anyone know how to get this done? I'm going to be a very unhappy camper if this can't be done!

I just bought a new iMac, and although I've had brushes with Macs before (Systems 6, 9.x, and OS X Jaguar) this is my first serious attempt at using a Mac. Switching from Windows.
But I'm not new to personal computers, my first one was, and still is as I have it in storage, an Atari 800 if you are old enough to have heard of those.
In anticipation of using either Boot Camp or Parallels (I've settled on Parallels because I want "side-by-side operation), I did take the precaution of setting Mail up to leave copies of the emails on the server. So now I only have to deal with my Mail sent mailbox.
