Thunderbird hangs when entering addresses

When I begin entering a name in the To: field TB 31.5.0 hangs for a few seconds.
I have noticed that there is one email address in the address book that is repeated thousands of times. So many times that the computer and TB kind of time out when trying to delete them all at the same time.
I saw a similar problem in 2014 messages but it didn't involve the multiple addresses.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have experienced the duplications, it was caused I think by the gContact sync add-on. Once the address book gets huge, the lookup to address mails gets correspondingly slow.

Can't get to Secure Area. Was working, but now Log-in Page hangs when enter Name and Password.

Built site using Muse, then used Business Catalyst to set up Secure Area. Site worked for several months, but the Log-in Page looked somewhat unprofessional, since Name and Password box could appear almost anywhere on page. Asked for Adobe Help, and Adobe tech sent 'Test' page to check presentation. Now Log-in Page doesn't work at all. When enter Name and Password and hit Return - nothing ! Have to 'Escape' out of page - it just hangs. So members of the community site can no longer share internal data.

FF 3.6.8 on Macbook hangs when 'enter' pressed in address bar

Hi,
I have an ongoing problem with Firefox hanging for around 10-20 seconds, usually when I've typed a url into the address bar and then pressed enter.
I have tried isolating addons, but to no avail. Not an issue on any other browsers, including the 4.0 beta.
Any ideas?

Thunderbird hangs when moving messages to sent and other folders

Now and then (sometimes once a week - sometimes multiple times per day) Thunderbird looses the ability to move messages to folders. Typical symptoms are:
Send a message - message sends fine - then it hangs forever with the dialog box saying that it is copying the message to the sent folder. (I have allowed this to sit for hours - it never completes.)
If I cancel copying it to Sent, it wants to copy to Drafts - but it hangs doing that too.
Filters that move messages don't work.
The mail archiving feature doesn't work. (no error message no hang - simply does nothing.)
Junk controls mark messages as junk but don't move the messages to the junk folder.
All of the above can be remedied by simply shutting down Thunderbird and restarting it. Then it will be fine for anywhere from 5 hours to 20 days before this occurs again.
I am using a pop account with local folders. All of these moves are local to my PC. I have only been using Thunderbird for a few months so all of my folders have small numbers of messages. My drafts folder typically has zero messages (and the file is zero bytes) and it still can't copy to it.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit - installed about 3 months ago, Thunderbird 24.6.0. (The problem occurred with the previous version of Thunderbird as well.) Lots of available disk space.
Some non-default settings: Thunderbird is set to use a global inbox (local folders) and the local folders have been relocated from the default location to my user directory on drive D: TB is set to not check for email automatically or on startup. There are two accounts.
I'm using the enigmail, quicktext and allow-html-temp extensions. Though I have typically not used any of these around the time that it starts hanging. Since it can take weeks to appear, it's difficult to run safe mode or extension-less for such long periods.

I recently had a period of about a month without it. And another time it was once a day for 3 days. (People in other threads have said it happens to them multiple times per day.) Right before the long period without the problem I had an enigmail update and I thought that that might have cured it since it worked for so long, but then it came back.
I was going to try the 31x series but early comments about it made me put that off. I'm still on 24.6. I browse the release notes now and then and see no mention of fixes for this and I've read a few other threads on the problem but haven't yet seen anyone claim that he found a fix that worked for a significant amount of time.
By the way, my first indication that this had occurred again was that I checked for email and all my spams stayed in my inbox. So I restarted TB, ran the junk controls, and they all moved to the junk folder. There is no consistency on which folder is being accessed when the problem is first seen. And there is never any need to rebuild anything to get it working again. TB just occasionally looses the ability to move messages in general. Once it happens, you can't move any message anywhere. Until you restart TB and the all is fine again. Until next time. All of this in on POP so this is just moving data around local files.

Solved: Mac appears to hang when "Enter Time Machine..."

I run TM and keep my sparse bundle on a Synology Diskstation NAS. Since the begining in March 2011, my Mac has always appeared to hang after trying to "Enter Time Machine...." I am now running Lion 10.7.2 and DSM 3.2-1944 and seeing the same issue. It turns out that this appears to be a bug in the fancy TM graphics interface.
TM uses a cascaded Finder window to allow you to brouse your backup history. If you run multiple "Spaces" and the existing(new) target Finder window does not reside(popup) on your current Space, you never get to see the cascaded display. Yet, if I ensure that there is only one Finder window open and it is displayed on my current desk top, then the fancy cascaded TM interface displays just fine.
Note, if you do happen to "Enter Time Machine..." on a secondary Space, just hit ESC. TM will exit and the current Space will pop over to the target Finder window. If you "Enter Time Machine..." a second time, it will work fine as the target Finder is now on the current Space. Looks like someone failed to issue "set current Space" before disabling the Spaces manager...

Looks like I am rediscovering known bugs, #3: http://pondini.org/TM/E4.html but above is an alternate workaround to turning off "Spaces".

If you're really at 10.5.8, do you have the 10.5 Install disk to boot from & Install that... so we can get further?

In email, when entering address, the drop down list contains old email addresses. How do I remove them?

Removing addresses from the Contacts list will not solve this. Apparently it will take time for such addresses to be pushed off the drop down list.

Photoshop Elements 6 now hanging when entering music to slideshow.

I haven't created a slideshow in a while and attempted to do so last night. Here are some specifics that I am hoping someone may be able help me figure out the issue:
I am running windows vist home premium SP2, 2 gb ram, 2 ghz intel processor and 160 gig hard drive. I have elements 6 installed.
I've previously been able to create and output slideshows without issue but that all changed last night.
I entered the create slideshow and selected a few pictures from the catalog. I clicked on the preview and the slideshow worked fine. I then added an MP3 to the slideshow. At this point....if I hit the preview button again the system hangs.
I check the process and Elements is using between 50% and 90% cpu, but never advances.
I tried to unintstall and reinstall with no luck.
I then downloaded the trial version of version 8 and I get the same results.
The only thing I can figure is different between the last time it worked correctly is that I am now on SP2 instead of SP1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the problem seems to be with the mp3,could please specify the size of the audio file which you were using and please try an audio file with a smaller size.

Why does Thunderbird hang when a login dialog is open at the same time as a file save dialog?

This happens frequently. And if there is any open email I am composing at the same time, it is LOST. This appears to be a bug that would rarely trigger in the normal case, but I have several email accounts active at once and one of them sometimes throws up a login window. If I happen to simultaneously be trying to save an attachment, the save dialog pops up and neither "Save" nor "Cancel" buttons work anymore and it is impossible to get the login dialog to respond. Thunderbird cannot respond to window cycle requests, so I can't even get to the edit windows to screen-shot them. The only thing I can do is kill the process and lose everything.

Beachball after entering address

When I create a new e-mail, enter in an address and hit tab -- I get the spinning beach ball for a few seconds before the address is accepted. This happens all the time. Began happening after a system update some months ago. Also, the dictionary/spell check in mail no longer works. It underlines a misspelled word but never has any suggested correct spellings. Spell check works fine in other applications.
I have trashed com.apple.plist and have also moved the Mail folder into Documents, restarted, run Disk Utility, opened Mail, set up my mail accounts again, and imported my old mail boxes from the Mail Folder in Documents.
Problems noted above persist. Suggestions? Thanks.

I have the exact same problem with the beach ball when entering addresses in Mail and sometimes it'll spin for a good 60 seconds or more. Sometimes it fills in right away though. Very weird.
I'm running an Exchange account and this seemed to occur after an update to our server but it could have been an OSX update as well.

31.3.0 hangs when connecting to my IMAPS server (problem with intermediate certificates or SSL in general?).

After update to 31.3.0 Thunderbird hangs when connecting to IMAPS server aie.de (intermediate certificates in chain). No error message is given, Thunderbird just hangs with out updating the subject lines of the inbox.

Safari 6.0.1 will not allow me to enter addresses from my address book when I want to create an e-mail or forward

When attempting to send an e-mail or forward an e-mail Safari will not allow me to enter address from my address list. This is a situation that has just developed when I upgraded to Mountain Lion.

Nokia 5610 new phone hang when press enter key; it...

Anyone facing this problem? I just brought couple of days only, I found the phone hang when i switch ON it and press Enter key after the PIN code. It looks no response and keep displaying on that screen.

Just an advise
On it's first time fully charge and discharge - vice versa for three times. After that don’t drain your battery every day to 10-20% of its charge. You can actually expect battery problems by draining the battery frequently.
Roughly every 30 charges, deliberately discharge your battery to 10-15%, and fully charge to 100% afterwards.
This will help maintain the accuracy of the “fuel gauge” on the device (your battery meter or scale). It has nothing to do with the battery memory but helps maintain the accuracy of the device’s percentage of battery charge left.
