Thunderbird is pulling old folders that no longer exist and I cannot delete them.

Thunderbird is pulling folders over that are long deleted from my @me.com account. When I attempt to delete them I receive an error that the mailbox no longer exists but the folder remains. How can I remove these folders from the sidebar display?
*Please note* This is my first time using Thunderbird, while I am tech savvy similar issue messages on the forums went quite over my head. Thank you in advance for any help and assistance offered.

This sounds like you deleted the folders off the server before unsubscribing to see folder.
You will need to access your Profile folder and manually remove those folders.
Make hidden files and folders visible:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
In Thunderbird
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* click on 'Show Folder' button - a new window opens showing Profile Folder.
* '''close Thunderbird now - this is important.'''
* Click on 'ImapMail' folder.
* Click on imap mail account name folder
The folder shown in the Folder Pane is actually a file.
If you were synchronising the folder there will be two files of same name as folder.
One will be a file with no extension - this was the mbox file with emails and the other will have same name with a .msf extension - this was the indexing file. Delete both of these files.
If the folder was a subfolder then you may find the files in a folder with a .sbd extension. If the files you need to delete were the only files in that .sbd folder, then also delete that .sbd folder.
When you have deleted the files, close the window - top right X
Start Thunderbird.

  • CU8 Update - Public Folder Calendar and Contacts show up in OWA that no longer exist and I cannot access when selecting.

We recently updated to CU8. I went to test out the new Public Folder access to calendars and contacts.  I first go to Calendars in OWA and I see a list of several calendars.  I see one that is listed twice, one I can open and the other states "Couldn't
open calendar - A connection couldn't be made with the shared calendar. Remove the calendar and try to add it again, or ask the owner to share it again." I also see other calendar's that we used in the past but no longer reside under public folders.
I get the same error on them.
For People, I can go there and I see a section called "Public Folder" and there is a contact list called "IT Team Contacts".  When I click on it, it states in the middle pane "Your request can't be completed right now.
Please try again later."  This contact list is not on our public folders.
Any ideas on why we I'm seeing these issues?
    Thanks,
    Jeff Dailey

Seems like some orphaned PF favorites. You should be able to remove them from Outlook, or via MFCMAPI

  • My old apple ID no longer exists and my phone needs it to delete the account for iCloud, what can I do?

I bought the iPhone 5c. Prior to this I changed my apple ID. This phone associates with my old one, which no longer exists and therefore has no password. So, I cannot use icloud on my phone. Any suggestions?

i drop my phone so i got a new one and back up everything... well now i have pics on my phone that i dont want and i cant delete them please help i tired hooking up to iTunes but still cant delete certain ones.... i can send them or post but nothing to delete them

The pictures that are on your phone, that you don't want, did they appear there after syncing with iTunes? Or were they taken with the iphone's camera?
Pictures synced from iTunes have to be removed by syncing again, but not having those pictures checked under the Photos tab in iTunes.

  • My main account on my iPad is based off an email address that no longer exists and can not be recreated.  On top of that I forgot the password and answers to the security questions.  So I can not reset the password.  any suggestions?

I Now get constant pop ups to logon to iCloud but it wants a password that I forgot.  I also forgot the security question answers.  It can not email me a password reset because the email no longer exists and Verizon won't let me recreate it.  I know this will sound crazy but when I created the original Apple account with the old email address I put in a bogus birthdate because I do not like giving out personal info.
i Just want to do something to stop the iCloud popups.

Try contacting Support in your country, after confirming your id and that it's your account they should be able to reset its password.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5699
If your country isn't on that page then try this form and explain and see what they reply with : https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
When they've done that update the primary email address on the account to be an account that you have access to e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store and logging into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com

With iOS 7 Activation lock you can't.

  • I'm trying to recover my security questions, but my alternate email address on the link does not match the one I have put in my Apple ID, on the link it is has an old one that no longer exists. Has anyone else been through this or knows how to help m

I've been trying to remember my security questions for ages, and I can't seem to remember them. On my Apple ID I have changed my alternate email address because the previous one was deleted, but when I go on the "Password and Security" page on my Apple ID and there is a link saying "Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to ************@*******.com" but it is giving me my old email that does not match my current one on my Apple ID and no longer exists. I have been trying for very long to recover my security questions' answers, but Apple is not coping with me.
Has anyone been through this or knows how to help me?
    Thank you.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • Moved songs to new computer but Apple ID no longer exists and I cannot play

I just bought my second Mac and moved all my iTunes songs to it. When I try to play a song, it asks me to authorize for my old AppleID which is no longer exists. So when I type it in, it says that the account no longer exists.
So I'm kind of stuck in a catch 22. I can't play the songs unless I authorize with my old Apple ID but that ID no longer exists.
I searched the forums quite a bit and did not find the answer. Anyone know what to do?
    Thanks fellow Mac users!

Why did you create a new Apple ID?
    No need to do that.

  • My iMac intel shows a shared computer that does not exist and I cannot disconnect. How can I remove it?

A computer appears to be shared, but there is no info on it and I cannot connect nor disconnect it. Three of us have tried all the things we could think off without success. It has been going on for months and does slow down some applications that seem to attempt connectionc.
When I reboot I get the following message thre of four times.
There is a problem connecting to the server Isabelle's IMac G5 (10). The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address. Check your network connection, and try again.
I have done all that it says, there is no IP address and the network connection seems OK. If I attemp to move the icon representing this server to the Thash, it turns for a short time to an Eject but then it comes back saying that the item cannot be deleted.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Does this "server" appear in System Preferences > Users > your account > Login Items ?
I have my MacBook Pro listed here as at one time I used it's USB drive for Time Machine on this iMac.
The shot is from a Mavericks computer where the panel is called User and Groups
If the MacBook Pro is not On line when I start up the iMac I get the same message as a pop up.

  • My new iPad has the wrong iCloud account (restored an old backup from previous iPad). It's pointing to an account that no longer exists and now I can't delete it because I can't log into it. Find my iPhone wants me to log in before deleting the account.

I have an old iPad2, and received a new iPad Air. When I set up the iPad Air, I started as a backup from the iPad2, instead of treating it as a new iPad setup. It also asked if I wanted to set up Find My iPhone and I said yes. Problem is that I also (previously) changed the primary email address on my iCloud account, but never changed the iCloud setup on my iPad. So now the iPad Air has iCloud pointing to the email address as the account name. I want to just delete this account and enter the new email, but Find My iPhone won't let me - it asks for my password first. Problem is, it won't accept the correct password because the primary email has changed.

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Mac/iPhoto trying to connect to an old server that no longer exists

    I have a MacBook Air, running OS X 10.7.5
Because I was running out of space and set up an AFP connection to a NAS.  The NAS is now dead and gone, but in certain situations the Mac tries to connect
    1. In MS Office, if I have the ClipArt/Shape/etc browser open, it tries to connect to the server - is a PITA but I can live with it
    2. In iPhoto, it constantly tries to connect, particularly if I am using the slideshow feature - Has rendered iPhoto unusable.
The iPhoto situation is that I perhaps foolishly connected to a photo folder on the NAS share and iPhoto imported a bunch of pictures from there.  Now that the server is offline, it constantly looks for them and tells me that it can't connect.
I can still see the thumbnails but obviously it cannot access the full files. I don't know exactly which folders are NAS pictures and which are not
I've found some similar topics but not a satisfactory answer.
How can I stop this message - how can I stop the Mac from trying to connect to a server that is never going to be there?

The location should be /Users/your name/Pictures. You can change this by holding down the option or alt key (the ones immediately to the left or right of the cmd keys either side of the spacebar) whilst clicking on the iPhoto application icon in your dock and making an informed choice from the options you see.
By default iPhoto creates an iPhoto Library (the folder where all your data in iPhoto is stored) in the /Users/your name/Pictures folder. It seems that in the past you must have selected an externally or network attached volume named TOSHIBA as the location for the iPhoto Library instead using the instructions I've given you. All you have to do is revert it back to the location you now want.

  • I have a new computer, many of my old tunes and videos were attached to e-mail that no longer exists..can't access them anymore, what can i do?

I recently bought a new computer, when i set up itunes I found that I no longer had access to many of my tunes and videos as they were for an e-mail account which I no longer have or know the password to...is there a solution to restoring access to itmes that I previsouly purchased under a dead account?

iTunes purchases are permanently tied to the ID they were purchased with.
Contact iTunes Customer Support if you have forgotten the password to that account and they can assist you.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 - dates from 2008 and some outdated information now.
Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/ - Information about use in disk mode pertains only to older model iPods.

  • TS1363 How do I remove some photos fro my Iphone that went on there accidentally when I got it ? They are just pic files that were on my computer and I cannot delete them just from my phone

Hello when I got my Iphone 4s and plugged it into my laptop and it started to sync I didn't realize that it also put Photo Folders with many pics on my phone and I want to remove them but can't do it like I can with the pics I have taken with my phone. I want these other Photo Files off my phone as I know they take up room

You remove them the same way you put them there.  The sync process.
Deselect them in itunes and sync.

  • Emails kep appearing in my inbox that have no content , no subject and I cannot delete them.  I have about 10 now.  What can I do to get rid of them?

    My email server is comcast.

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
