Thunderbird PC conflicting with Android Pad when connected home

With Thunderbird running on PC and android Pad running in another room also connected to my email account (Pad doesn't have Thundrbird as we all know) . Every so often Thunderbird will not connect to email provider and ask for password. Which does not work.
Provider checked out my PC and finds that Thunderbird it has a conflict with devices and will not access provider. Pad has no problem at all but the Pad is the conflict device
Is there any way of configuring Thunderbird so it does not see the Pad as a conflicting device.
Almost makes me want to go back to explorer as it does not let this happen.
Surely it cannot be that hard to port a simpler Thunderbird for androids and stop this problem of conflict as I want to stay with Thunderbird

You may try to increase the interval how often both, Thunderbird and your tablet are checking for new mail.
Otherwise I don't see what kind of conflict your provider may be suspecting. When the problem happens only every once in a while, it sounds more like a provider issue. And it seems your provider folks don't have a clue about Thunderbird.

Are you talking about webmail? That's would be a completely different thing.

Will 2 routers running in server mode with no vtp domain defined conflict with each other when connecting over layer 2 sonet?

Our remote site has a 3845 router running MPLS to connect back to our other 3845 locally. The ISP has provided us a layer 2 sonet connection with no other configurations necessary with the exception of configuring the layer 2 portion on our side. Both of these 3845 routers are in "server mode" with "no vtp domain" specified. Will this cause an issue/conflict when the remote router bypasses the MPLS for the faster 100MB layer 2 connection?

Excellent answer. Our two 3845 routers are about 400 miles away and we're trying to bring up a layer 2 100MB sonet connection over fiber connected to the GIG0/1 port on each router. I was worried that essentially having these 2 routers back to back over layer 2 may cause issues since our remote site has a higher revision number than our local site. It appears since we're configuring an ip address on each router and then adding the network to ospf this shouldn't conflict with our 2 routers. Below is how each router VTP is configured with the exception our remote site has 1 extra VLAN and a higher revision number.

Dave I'm glad to say that it works perfectly but I'm embarrassed to say that my 12 year old nephew hooked it up in about 10 minutes.
If you have the Kanex Mini DisplayPort cable it will work, what confused me was changing the display settings in System Preferences,
and dragging the mac screen from the mac onto the tv. Sorry I cant be more helpful but you have the right cable now you need a 12 year old nephew.

You may have to force your iPad into recovery mode in order to restore the device since the update did not complete. This article explains how to do that.

While working in Firefox is there a way to open a new window with one site when the home setting on Firefox has multiple websites?

I guess I'm not explaining myself fully. I have a home page designation in firefox preferences that starts firefox up with 5 sites. that pretty fills up my screen with tabs.
At some point I want to initiate another WINDOW in firefox (NOT a tab). I would like to be able to open up a window that ONLY has ONE tab, or as if there were only one site designated as the home page. This gives me a workspace that has my most useful sites available in tabs in one window, and also another WINDOW that I can move around in and even create more tabs without messing up my primary set of TABS (in my primary window). I see how this might not be doable without doing what I do now, which is open up a new window, and then close tabs until the new window just has one tab for me to work from.

Issue with Android devices - cannot connect to Fac...

Good morning.
I have an issue with android phones and a tablet not being able to connect to Facebook etc on our home wifi. Everything works on other wifi and the signal strength is good.
Did get it to work for an hour after a pin reset, but that did not last.
An hour on the phone to BT help yesterday, set the channel to 2.4ghz but that made no difference and no more ideas from BT it seems.
Was told by the BT man not to do a pin reset as it wears out the router, apparently.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Problem with AppleWorks documents when connecting via ftp to my server

When I connect over the internet using ftp to my mac mini server (using OS X server 10.4.10) from my iMac G4 (using 10.4.10) all my AppleWork docs will only appear as .bin instead of .cwk.
If I download one to my G4, it will try to open using stuffit expander but cannot be opened. It comes up with “An error ocurred attempting to expand name.bin unspecified Stuffit Engine internal error” Error #17999
However Microsoft Word docs show correctly and can be downloaded and opened without problem.
When I try directly on the server or try from any computer on the local network conected to the server, everthing views correctly and can be opened.
Could it be to do with any settings on the server when connecting by ftp.

One problem still remains that when I download minicad files (which uses OS 9) they show up as .exe and will not open or recognisable by the programme
I imagine the file is transferring without a suffix and your computer is trying to guess what it is; hence the .exe. Delete this and append the suffix for the correct program and it should open (or use File>Open within the program).

Problems with an Error when connecting Laptop to HDMI-TV Using PSE9

Hi Guys.
Having a problem using my connection to the HDMI-TV at my house.
I am using Photoshop Elements 9.0.3, so no update is available right now. I did a nice Slideshow of my trip to Thailand. When i watch it on my Laptop everything is fine. Even if i go to Full Screen Preview. When i connect my Laptop (new Asus Notebook K52Ju, i7, 64Bit Windows 7) to my TV via HDMI everything works fine. So the connection is allright.
As soon as i start the Slideshow (Play Button), there comes the following error:
Elements Organizer - unknown Error "-2004353023" preview of the Slideshow
Doesn`t matter if i use Full screen mode or the regular mode.
There is always this error coming up.
Anyone has an idea what to do?
Or is there a better way to watch my Elements Slideshow on TV??

Here is a sugggestion that might work for you:
If you are creating this slide show with the Elements Organizer Slide Show Editor--
then use the Output function of that slide show editor to create a WMV file of the slide show. Then use Windows Media Player to play the slide show from the WMV file with the HDMI connection to your TV.

Wallpaper with the cursor when connected to external display

Hi guys. I recently bought a MacBook 13" unibody polycarbonate white and I had bad luck and cracked the screen and I don't have the money to get it repaired so I decided to buy a mini display to VGA and hook it up to my old dell monitor.
I turned off the computer and plugged the port in and it connects to the monitor but I only see the wallpaper with the cursor and no login screen or anything. I was reading around and found out that I might have to play with the resolution to make the monitor work. Now my delimma is that my LCD screen is cracked so how can I make the monitor work without looking ?

Can you see anything on your MacBook screen? If you can access System Preferences you can drag the window over to the other screen. You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

The IOS5 download seems to be conflicting with my IPAD2 wifi connection.

I have downloaded the IOS5 upgrade to my IPAD2. Since then I have had difficulty with the Ipad connecting to the wifi. Every time I manually get it connected to wifi the wifi will disconnect with my other devices such as my Iphone. I have tried just about everything and nothing works. Any ideas?

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

Observer.dll version Mismatch with DI API when connecting to company

I recently upgraded to patch 47 from 45, I entered the company through the di api, and I got an error that said something about external component threw an exception, I closed my program and tried to enter again, now I'm getting this Observer.dll Mismatch, when trying to connect to the company.
I saw another post, and verified the DI API dll SAPbobsCOM with THE SCAB table in SBO-COMMON, and both are 800181.
Iam using the SAPbobsCOM dll that its under C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\DI API\2007, although I have to say, I was using another dll from the examples folder in the SDK, when I started getting the error I changed to the one above. Ive tried deleting the SBO-COMMON database and then executing the upgrade patch 47 to rebuild, but Im getting the same error.
More Info: I took a look at this temp folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\SM_OBS_DLL\800148
Ive noticed that the version is diferent, but where does it come from?

My Bad, I was connecting to the wrong server.

HT5313 Since upgrading to 10.7.5, I can't use headphones on my Macbook Pro (with retina display) when connected to a Thunderbolt Display. Anybody else? Any solutions?

When I connect my headphones to my Macbook Pro, the sound continues to come through the Thunderbolt display instead of the headphones. Any help would be appreciated.

To prevent your iPhone from automatically syncing when you plug it in, click on iTunes in the menu bar, then preferences, then "devices", then tick "prevent iPhones, iPad's and iPod's from syncing automatically".
Plug it in, then on the iPhone sync summary screen, click "info" along the top.
Make sure the "sync contacts" option is not ticked. as long as it's not ticked, then it won't sync with your mac's contacts but will still include them in backups.
Also, if you use iCloud, make sure that the iPhone/mac are either not signed into the same account, or that "contacts" is not turned on for both of them

N8 not pairing with bluetooth headset when connect...

I have a weird issue!
My N8 connects to my bluetooth headset and functions flawlessly usually. But whenever I connect my N8 via bluetooth to my PC it stops pairing with the headset. The moment it connects with the PC, the headset icon appears in my N8, despite it not having paired the headset.
This issue is nagging me for quite some time. Any suggestions please...

I'm running a bit on thin here but let's see.
It might be possible that your N8 thinks the PC is acting as an audio device to your N8. Have you tried what happens when you have the connection establised over BT and you start playing music on the N8 or there's an incoming call? If the music is played through the N8 speakers or you can take a call, then audio is not routed through your PC.
