Thunderbird shows 3 default profiles? Is this right? I just installed it and recovered my profile from another computer.
My previous computer's hard drive said it was failed. I copied off the thunderbird profile before it crashed.
I bought a new computer. I restored the thunderbird profile. Within a few hours, the email and file folders revert to a 2014 data file any anything from that time forward does not appear. So I went in, uninstalled thunderbird, deleted all the thunderbird profiles and their files and put it back on again. Within a couple hours, it did it again.
So I again uninstalled thunderbird, searched everything thunderbird and deleted all I could and downloaded a fresh copy of thunderbird and then restored the profile again. Within about 30 minutes there are now three different default profiles for thunderbird. I don't know what else to do. The e-mail files aren't changed yet, but I'm waiting...... Are three supposed to be there, I would think not. I certainly didn't create them. Somebody know what to do??????

No, Thunderbird would create a new profile upon start if it can't find an existing profile.

Importing profile from another copy of firefox
I have been working with your files regarding moving Firefox profiles between computers. The instructions listed leave a lot to be desired.
I want to move a profile from Firefox on a PC to Firefox on MacOS (SnowLeopard).
At this point, when I open Troubleshooting information, Show in Finder, there are now three files there. Two are default profiles, including the one I moved from the PC:
023itdk7.default - which is the folder I saved and moved from the PC;
a0ibrn2u.Me - which is the profile I set up according to what I thought the "Managing Your Profiles" and "Recovering important data from an old profile"was telling me to do; and
l2usuzu74.default (I don't know where this came from).
How do I invoke the one I moved from the PC; or get rid of the other two?

Your instructions concerning individual actions are fine; but the general ghist of the whole activity leaves a lot to be desired.The general gist is that the Profile name can't be changed on the Profile that you are transferring files into. You need to copy the '''contents''' of the old Profile into the new Profile folder, replacing the file that were in there.

Just installed iOS7 and now my Airport express is no longer working. Very frustrating. Who has a solution to this problem.
I'm curious what's happening for others with Airport Express devices that aren't working. In my case, it's simply now impossible to get sound coming out of it. All my devices and computers initially THINK it should work - they all show the Airport Express. But when I try to play, it doesn't work, with slightly varying responses:
iPhone 5 and iPad 2, both on iOS7: if I choose the Airport Express, they continue to play as if through the Airport for about 20 seconds (with progress along the little progress/scrub bar), and then just stop playing. No error message or anything.
On my computer, through iTunes 11.1: it thinks for a while, with the "Connecting to ___'s Airport Express" thing going at the top of the screen, until I get the "An error occurred while connecting to the airplay device ... the network connection timed out" message. The little chevron (?) in the upper left side, that lets us "Choose which speakers to use", becomes orange rather than blue, and when I click on that, the Airport Express listing now has an exclamation mark inside a warning sign.
On an iPhone 4, with iOS6: basically the same as with the iOS7 devices. It seems to "think" it's playing through the Aiport Express, and then after about 30 seconds just reverts to the iPhone speaker and stops playing, with no error message.
Note that through all this the Airport Express has its green light and seems to think it's working fine, with an "Excellent" connection, according to the Airport Utility.
I've tried turning basically everything off and on; everything is as up to date as I can make it, except that iPhone 4; I've forgotten and added networks; I've reset network settings; I've added and taken away a password from the Airport Express Airplay speakers (because, hey, why not). I'm not sure what else there even is to do: maybe tomorrow I'll head in to an apple store and see if I can use the AirPlay from my iPhone to play on one of their Airport Expresses? If they even have any set up?
Outside chance of the cause - could my wifi network somehow be confused because it's dealing with both iOS6 and iOS7? Does that make any sense at all? (Not that my wife is going to be the least bit eager to upgrade to iOS7 after hearing me swear profusely over the past couple of days!) -

Hi, on all my adobe forms when i click on the properties, I see the message
"This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer"
ever since i started getting this message, adobe forms don't work anymore and throws an error that the document properties have changed. I searched for a solution for this, but found many for fixing on Vista enterprise, but i run a vista home basic version. What do i need to do to resovle this issue that i can start using adobe forms again.

I have to agree with others here. I have also encountered this same issue today. Cannot even download a friggin PDF. Absolutely ridiculous. Stop with all this security crap, because all it does is slow down
my workforce while they all try and figure out whats going on. We as users do not write this software, MS does. So why is it we the users have to jump through a zillion hoops to make your crap work. You (MS) should be doing this.
I used Chrome and guess what....it just works. Safari...just works......firefox../.just works.....MS IE whatever version never works right
The ONLY reason I would still need IE, is if I need to get to some MS site where once again, MS has created the Monopoly situation where I can ONLY use IE to get to these sites. Utterly bogus. No wonder everyone is beginning to hate you.
Another item is your new Compatibility view. Another nightmare to deal with. Managing my domain through various web interfaces, and I am always having to switch between modes depending on the application. Another huge waste of time.
Think I'll be going the way of Russia, and completely remove any and all Windows systems from our environment forever.

Open System Preferences and go to Accessibility. Next, select Display from the source list along the left, then check the box labelled Reduce transparency.

I just installed Firefox and it is stuck on the "Choose a Profile" page and will not load...frozen. When I click on "Create a Profile", nothing happens. Anyone have any suggestions?
Try to delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new profiles.ini file and a new default profile.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You could simply set each device to only use a single telephone number (settings > messages > send & receive, but this isn't really an ideal solution since the other person can always change their settings and see your messages and send messages that appear as if they are from you. There is only one real solution and that's to have your own accounts. -

You each need to have separate Apple IDs and separate user accounts. Better yet, separate computers as well.

Have just installed Mavericks and restarted the MacBook Pro. That was 3 hours ago and after logging in, I got my wallpaper and dock, but none of my desktop icons, just the spinning coloured wheel. It's been like that for 2 hours. Is this normal? What should I do, please?
I tried holding the on/off switch down to make it shut down, but when I turned it back on again, the same thing happened and none of the keys etc makes any difference.

Try booting whilst holding down the Shift key - this will allow you to boot into Safe Mode, disabling third-party kernel extensions, etc. Your Mac will be slow to boot and will operate sluggishly. That's normal. If you can get in using Safe Mode then you have some start-up item that doesn't play well with Mavericks.

Just installed Lion and the Magic TrackPad and I am having a problem with one click commands. I have to hit the pad fairly hard with one finger to get it to accept the command. Is this normal, is there another way that I am suppose to execute commands?
No you just need to turn on Tap to Click. Go into System Preferences - Trackpad and click the Point to Click tab and select the first box which will say Tap to Click and you should be in business.

No you will not lose any data. However a pop up will come up telling you if you want to sync with this computer, and that if you do, that it will erase the data. Just click "No" and you can still update your phone. I've done this a few times.
