Thunderbird stops deleteing messages after a time

Having problems getting this to work so I'll post the short version until I can log in!
Seamonkey has been locking up and stops deleting messages such as 'Junk' which remains in the in box. Loaded a clean copy of Thunderbird and imported the email archive from SM but only 8 hours in I got the same locked delete that I had with SM ...

I'll add some more info now ...
I have an email archive going back to 1997 which has been maintained in netscape and then moved to seamonkey. It has a large folder tree, with larger folders broken down into year folders.
Having got fed up with seamonkey freezing nowadays once or twice a day, I loaded thunderbird, and was pleasantly surprised that all of history imported, and presumably created new index files?
8 hours later - Junk messages in the in box and unable to delete. Exactly what was happening in seamonkey. So as I expected it is the core software which has a problem!
Running on SUSE12.3 - plenty of memory and disk space.

If you update to iOS 8, you can select that in Settings>Messages>Keep Message and then select your option. If you don't update to iOS 8, you'll need to do it manually.

  • Mail stops receiving messages after a period of time

Every since installing Mavericks my Mail app stops receiving messages after a period of time. I know because I get the email on my phone, but I try to grab them in Mail and nothing. If I restart Mail then they come through.
I'm using Gmail as my email provider. Is anyone else suffering with this? Is there a work around?

Workaround or not, this is an annoyance, and that's a nice way of putting it. Coming from Mountain Lion, when Mail was working flawlessly, having to deal with this issue is just plain ridiculous. What happened to the Mail application? I don't understand how Apple could screw this up to badly.
Every time I restart or reset the connection to the servers, the Mail app is downloading thousands of messages (I can see the display on the bottom-left). I have no idea what it's doing or why, for that matter. If Apple doesn't fix this soon, I will seriously be forced to look for an alternative, which saddens me greatly. I really like Mail, but if it cannot reliably get my mail simply because I've left it open too long, or hidden it behind another window, I will stop using it.
What's worse is that I've had similar issues with other applications like iPhoto and iTunes. Whatever is happening to Mail is probably not just application-specific. It's probably OS-specific. I hope Apple is working on it and that we will see a major update to Mavericks soon. All I know is that, right now, I'm seriously regretting upgrading to Mavericks.

"Licensing for this product has stopped working" message appears each time I open Acrobat Pro.  I am at a loss as to how to fix the problem.  Can anyone provide some insights?

Thanks Bill.  After a good nights rest I don't feel like I'm in as big of a fight with Adobe as I was yesterday.  I was able to search through the search results with more patience and found these instructions:
Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Windows
My problem was solved after the first step.  THANK YOU.  Life is much more peaceful when the things that are supposed to work do.

  • Getting itunes has stopped working message after downloading to Windows 8.1

Getting ITunes has stopped working message after 10 seconds after downloading to Windows 8.1

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • ITunes has stopped working message after having it open for one minute.

It's fully updated to iOS 5 and was working fine until now. Running on Windows 7 and worked flawlessly till this point. Any tips? I already uninstalled and reinstalled. Only security software I run is Microdoft Security Essesntials and that has never been an issue. At a loss here.

iTunes has stopped working message after having it open for one minute.
I open itunes and a message comes up after a minute "itunes has stopped working". I got the update automatically to my Windows 7 64 bit pc 10.5.0.142.  After reading tons of probelms online about version 10.5
I have decided to do nothing for now.  Seems people are putting hours into trying to fix it.  I was going to uninstall and reinstall but seems that isn;t working for to many people.
How do we get some help from apple?
Anyone have any answers???  APPLE HELP please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have set the Message History setting to delete messages after 30 days. Since doing this, Messages app is quite buggy.

I have no need to keep huge, old Messages conversations, so I recently set the Message History to delete messages after 30 days. Since doing this, however, I have noticed that the Messages app has become fairly buggy. Sometimes I'll open the app and it will look like there's no conversations, and the app prompts me to send a new message. Sometimes, I'll open the app to reply to an incoming message and my response will hang at 90% sent and then when I go back to the conversation list, it displays my outgoing, as-yet-unsent response as a new message, complete with little blue new message marker. The only way I have found to temporarily resolve these issues is to restart the phone. What's going on here?

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that you need to apply a rule to delete messages older than 30 days for all mailboxes in your environment. Is it right? If I misunderstand, please point it out.
As all above suggestions, we can use retention tags and retention policies in Exchange 2013 to achieve it. To apply it, we can try the following steps:
    1. Login to Exchange Admin Center(EAC) in Exchange 2013 as an administrator.
    2. Click compliance management > retention tags.
    3. Click New Tag > applied automatically to entire mailbox(default).
    4. Edit the Name, Retention action and Retention period(30 days), then
    Save it.
    5. Click Retention Policies tab > New.
    6. Edit Name and add the Retention tags you created a moment ago. And
    Save it.
    7. Navigate to Recipients > Mailboxes.
    8. In the list view, use the Shift or Ctrl keys to select multiple mailboxes.
    9. In the details pane, click More options.
    10. Under Retention Policy, click Update.
    11. In Bulk Assign Retention Policy, select the retention policy you created to apply to the mailboxes, and then click
    Save.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,

  • I get the "firefox has stopped working" message after closing browser

    Hello.
My problem is that when I close the FireFox browser I get the "FireFox has stopped working" message. It's pretty annoying. I've read some other posts here that described a similar problem and have tried some of the suggestions in them including:
A clean install, a browser reset, running in safe mode, unchecking hardware acceleration, disabling extentions and plugins one at a time, uninstalling my antivirus (avast), rolling back to version 23.01 and checking run in compatibility mode that someone claimed helped them. None of this was effective.
It seems like after a computer restart the browser will be ok for 2-4 closings and then it will start with the message on every closing. Also, after I uninstalled avast it was good for 6 closings. Rolling back also gave me about 6 message free closings. But then the messages start and doesn't stop.
Is there anything else I can try? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

One thing is for sure, and that is if the only page i visit is the Google homepage (not logged in) or this site (mozilla forum), the problem does not occur, ever. I can't make it happen.
If i visit yahoo.com (not logged in) (or ighome.com, logged in), as examples, it happens every time.

  • Mac Mail deletes messages after 24 hours

Mac Mail started deleting my messages after 24 hours 6 days ago. I believe this is a OSX Lion issue as I run 10.8.2 on my main machine (iMac 27 Dec 2010) but I also have an old iMac G5 (2005) running OS X 10.5.8, and on ths machine my messages are not deleted. An additional problem is that new messages to all accounts remain marked as unread for less than an hour on the new machine but remained marked unread until they are read on the old machine. My sent messages are not deleted.
I use a private email address from my own domain for all of my emails, except for a very few on BTinternet and Yahoo adresses. My webmail for my domain also is having emails deleted after 24 hours. I have spoken to the domain host customer care (very helpful) but they cannot spot the issue. And as it doesn't happen with OS X 10.5.8 it seems to me that it cannot be either the host or my current provider BT. However, I have only switched to BT recently and this deletion problem only started once their service was fully up and operating ( which was a long and messy process leaving me utterly disenchanted with BT).
I also have an iPhone 4S using iOS6 which doesn't delete but also doesn't show new messages as unread on my private domain address. On the iPhone new messages to my BT and Yahoo accounts show as unread.
I have time machine running with an external hard drive so I can see old messages there but thats a laborious procedure and the whole thing is doing my head in. Anyone got any explanations or, better still, solutions.

Thanks for a very quick reply - and this is how this mailbox is set up.
I have also had a bit of help and advice from a knowlegable friend and he thinks the source of the deletions may be that the account is an IMAP account on the new machine and my iphone but a POP3 accont on my old machine. I have turned off the old machine to see if this changes the behaviours on the other machines.
This is a very good start.

  • Apple mail won't stop deleting messages from Gmail server

    Hello everyone:
For a long time I had my mail set up to delete messages from the gmail server, but recently I changed my mind. I tried changing the settings to remove copy after a month and nothing happened, i.e. immediately deleted messages from server. Now I've tried changing it to never remove a copy and it is still doing it. What am I missing?

I should say: it does leave a copy in "all mail" but deletes it from the inbox section so they are unavailable on my iPhone as soon as my laptop grabs it....

  • Gmail to stop deleting messages

How do I stop my gmail account from deleting messages when I delete them off of my phone? I tried to adjust the settings in Settings>Mail but maybe I am adjusting the wrong one because it doesnt seem to work very well.
    Thanks for the help.

GMail can only retrieve other email provider emails as POP. POP access will by default remove the emails from the server once they are retrieved in most email clients. If you wish for Mail on your Mac to get the same POP mail as GMail is retrieving, you need to set GMail to leave the messages on the server.
For the best results, you should use IMAP and/or webmail access when accessing the same account with multiple computers or devices.
If you could clarify a bit on your settings in Mail, GMail, and any your email provider are using, that might help with understanding what's happening to your email.

  • Thunderbird indiscriminately deletes messages in any of the folders in which messages exist.

I have no problem deleting messages but find that messages I have not deleted disappear.

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

  • How can I stop Thunderbird from deleting messages arbitrarily?

Quite often when I delete "a" message from my Inbox, Thunderbird deletes a previous or following message at the same time. Sometimes I can find the message in Junk, or Trash, yet on several occasions I have to go to gmail on-line to recapture the message.

Thanks for your advice. I think that may be the problem as it does not occur if I use the Delete key on the keyboard. I appreciate your response.
