Is it possible to backout the Thunderbolt 1.2 firmware update?
    Thanks

You're not alone. I'm having the same problem, and it continues to persist even after numerous resets and one restore.
Beyond that, I'm also having some nasty performance problems playing 30 minute, bookmarkable AAC files created using Audio Hijack Pro... just as slow as can be. I'm not really enthusiastic about isolating the combination of factors that turn these files into cold molasses, so I took the cowards way out.
I reverted back to 1.1.1 and life returned to normal.

  • 27 inch thunderbolt display blacks out after Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2

Bought 2 new 27 inch TB displays for two different machines and after a couple of days the Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2 appears on my Mac Pro with one of the displays installed. So I install the firmware update.  Now my display blacks out periodically and I keep getting Graphic Display Errors with a request to sent the errors to Apple. Running a 32 GB Mac Pro (late 2013 circular style) I have three monitors connected (two 20 inch cinema displays and the new 27 inch display). This machine is supposed to be able to handle three 4k monitors or 6 standard TB displays.  I've seen the posts about the blacking out with this monitor but I didn't have any problems before the firmware update and now I've got them pretty regularly.  I had the blacking out problem on an earlier monitor and took one of the monitors back and Apple gave me another one and this is the replacement.  Same problem, but this one only started after the update. I'm hoping someone from Apple reads these messages and can let me know what's up.
BTW, I also have an older 27 inch Apple monitor that ran perfectly on this machine so I'm disappointed that I spent all this money and now get the blacking out issue.

I have my Thunderbolt display connected to my MacBook Pro and have been experiencing the same issue, getting worse over time.  The folks at my local Apple store did not know what to do about it.  So, I looked around and tried different thing.
The one thing that seems to be working is to System Preferences > Build-in Display > uncheck “Automatically adjust brightness.”
    I hope this helps.

  • Thunderbolt Display USB ports not working after 1.2 firmware update

I installed the Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update 1.2 a few days back, and following that update, the USB ports on my display have stopped working completely. The display's Thunderbolt port and Ethernet jacks are working fine, as is the Thunderbolt/power cable connection to my MacBook Air (mid-2011, 11 inch, running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1). Any ideas on a fix?

  • Fix for Thunderbolt OTA firmware update , when receiving an error message

Hi, my name is Lou, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post a solution or fix for Thunderbolt users that are unable to get their firmware update OTA..
For the last 2 weeks, when i got word that the (OTA) Over The Air firmware update should be coming out, i started going on my phones setting to check for new updates and started to receive an Error message, stating to check back when service was available, well Verizons attempt at fixing the issue was to to a hard factory reset, which didn't work, they also had me go to the local Verizon Wireless store and switch out my SIM card, and that didnt work, and they also tried Forcing the update to y phone, and again No resolve.. There last solution was to send me a refurbished phone, which I am strongly against, cuz I dont want a used piece of equipment, ... well anyways, I found the solution for the fix of getting the update downloaded to your phone, from www.thunderboltforums.com ,
You first need to downlaod an app from the market titled LTE On/Off app, install it. Once installed, I turned of my WiFi on the phone, then opened the LTE On/Off app, and rememer the original setting that its on, bcuz thats the setting u will have to set it at, when your update begins...   Select the CDMA mode, not the CDMA(PRL) mode...  then exit the app.... By selecting the CDMA mode only, this should make your either 3G or 4G signal switch to a 1X symbol.. then, i restarted my phone, .... i dont think restarting is necessary, but i did it anyways... when it restarted, the signal setting was still at 1X, then I went to setting, aSoftware Update, then Check Now, and within a minute or so, the Download option appeared.  once I started the downlaod, I let about a minute pass by, then I went and opened one last time, the LTE On/Off app, and switched the setting to its default setting, and mine was the 4G option and the 4G signal kicked in, and the 78Mb download completed within 3 minutes...  hopes this helps... It helped me...

I could be wrong but I believe this has been covered but thanks for sharing still...

  • Mavericks upgrade and Thunderbolt firmware update?

    Hi Guys,
last week I installed mavericks to an external hard drive and am currently using my early 2011 MBP as a dual boot using Lion and Mavericks. The main reason is because my audio software is no longer being updated in Lion.
My next purchase once I start using Mav full time, will either be a belkin thunderbolt dock or the akitio thunder dock. So I can run my hard drives, tv etc from the thunderbolt port.
Problem is, I'm unsure if I can update my thunderbolt port in my machine, and both docks will only run on thunderbolt two.
in about this mac my information is this:
    Model Identifier:     MacBookPro8,2
    Boot ROM Version:     MBP81.0047.B27
    SMC Version (system):     1.69f4
If I install the firmware updates here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
will I be able to update the firmware for my thunderbolt port from
    Firmware Version:     22.1
    Port Micro Firmware Version:     2.0.7
to whatever the latest one is, because I saw a post saying the latest frimware version is 25.1
    any advice/ideas?
    Cheers Iain.

I emailed Akitio and got this reply.
"The AKiTiO Thunder Dock is using Thunderbolt 1 but it's compatible with  both Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2, so you can use it on earlier  machines as well as the latest Thunderbolt 2 machines. However, the  minimum system requirement is Mac OS X 10.9, so you will need to use  Mavericks.
Regarding the EFI and SMC firmware, it's good to use the latest version  and we usually recommend to update it as part of our troubleshooting  process. The page you provided is the one I would have suggested too, so  you can follow the links there and update your machine.
Keep in mind that this will not upgrade your Thunderbolt port as you put it, it only updates the firmware of your system."

  • Thunderbolt display firmware update 1.2 won't install correctly

On Friday 11/13/2014, I received a Software Update notification in OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 that there was an update available for "Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update 1.2". I tried installing this several times, but every time it tells me "The Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update could not complete." Now I have 6 failed install attempts showing in Software Update, plus still the still to be installed update itself.
If I click on the "More info" button in the failed installation message, it takes me to this page: About Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update 1.2 - Apple Support
On that page it suggest to check the "About this Mac" info for Thunderbolt Display, where "The Firmware Version should be 26.2 and the Port Micro Firmware Version should be 2.0.7 after the update."
My Thunderbolt Display is currently on Firmware Version 22.2, with Port Micro Firmware Version 0.0.21. Why won't this update install?

I had a similar problem: The "Thunderbolt display firmware update 1.2" kept reappearing in AppStore, even though the uppdate seemed successful.
According to Apple[1] the update was successful when the the Firmware Version is 26.2 and the Port Micro Firmware Version is 2.0.7 (visible in About this Mac -> SystemReport).
Above versions were correct in my case, but the update still kept appering in AppStore... (probably I did download and install the update manually after the first failure, but I don't remember ...)
To get rid of the annoying update in AppStore I used the softwareupdate command[2] on the commandline:
        softwareupdate --ignore TBdisplayFWUpdate1.2

  • Computer keeps shutting down when trying to update Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2! But says I have installed it 4 times already.

    Hello All,
Today I updated my MacBook Pro Early 2011 from Lion to Mavericks. I then went onto my App Store and it says I have an update that I need to install. This update is the Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2. Everytime I press update, it says that it is downloading, but suddenly my computer just turns off with no warning when the download hasnt even started. I'm worried that this will damage my computer! What I don't understand is that App Store says that I have already installed this update 4 times. But if so, why is it still saying that I need to update it?
Any help will be most appreciated!
    Celine

Unfortunately after that I have no other suggestions... if it was my computer I would reformat the entire computer but you need a good backup to do that something is obviously corrupt and not acting right otherwise if you have another computer that you can use to update..

  • Can't stop Thunderbolt display from flickering white lines after firmware update (Yosemite)

I am having serious issues after the Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update 1.2. Running Yosemite on MacBook Pro and I am now getting white lines that gradiate from the bottom to the top of my screen across multiple browsers, apps and even the finder window anytime I move my mouse. I cannot take a screenshot (it stops when I try) but I posted a video here:
    http://youtu.be/3zOKL1JFp5M
It is impossible to work this way and after 20 minutes of watching my screen constantly refresh anytime I move my mouse I am feeling nauseous.
Is there anyway to UNINSTALL this firmware update? I was not having this kind of problem before. Every once in awhile I was finding my Thunderbolt display would not wake up after sleep and I thought the firmware update would fix that, not cause more, crazier problems. It is causing this gradiating line problem on my Thunderbolt display AND my MacBook Pro screen, which is even more bizarre.

I updated and no issues with my 2012 Mini so may be computer related.  I believe once a firmware has been "burned" into the chip it cannot be redone.

  • Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update 1.2

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) and two thunderbolt displays. I recently started getting notified there was an update available, Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update 1.2 and App Store kept prompting me to download and install.
I tried multiple times, and each time it states it failed to update. According to this KB article About Thunderbolt Display Firmware Update 1.2 - Apple Support it states Firmware Version should be 26.2 and the Port Micro Firmware Version should be 2.0.7 after the update.
I checked and my Mac is in fact reporting the updates were applied. See information from the system report below. I am prompted every day, multiple times to download and apply this update again, over and over. I don't understand why.
I contacted Apple Support and the rep I worked with was pretty much useless. In fact, I am fairly sure I know more and *NIX than he does. Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion on howe to remedy this?

Strange. The downloaded dmg file package said that the upgrade was successfully installed, but the App Store still says I need to update. I haven't tried it with my MBP cover open but I'll give that a shot.

  • Stuck on Thunderbolt Firmware-Update 1.2

App Store is permanently showing that there is a new update.
    Thunderbolt Firmware-Update 1.2
When i click on update, it asks to restart the computer, i confirm.
After that it says installing software update 2 mins, then it restarts the computer.
After restart it shows a light grey screen, apple logo in the middle and a filling status bar on bottom.
When the statusbar is full, the MacOS is loaded and all work.
After a while the AppStore shows a new indicator and tells me there are new updates ..
Checking which ones shows it's the **** Thunderbolt again.
Its a brand new Mac, so whats the right way to get this fixed without losing a lot of time, money, the data on disk or the waranty?
Would have written a mail to support, but only found an option to call them during hours I'm at work.

The grey screen with statusbar shows for around 10-15 mins each time.
