Thunderbolt 27 magsafe doesn't fit 13" macbook air

Why won't the magsafe connector fit the macbook air slot?  It's too large to seat properly.  *** APPLE?  $1000 AND IT DOESN'T FIT???????

  • Usb optical mouse doesn't work on MacBook Air

Hi, I need a mouse for my MBA but I only found a cheap USB optical mouse that i've used several times on my pc and worked perfectly fine, I tried using it on my MBA but it doesn't work. I searched in system information to see if at least the mouse is detected and surprisingly it is detected. The mouse has no brand and i don't think it needs any type of driver.  What should i do?
I have a MacBook Air mid-2012 running Mountain Lion.
    USB OPTICAL MOUSE:
      Product ID:          0x0a4c
      Vendor ID:          0x15d9
      Version:           1.00
      Speed:          Up to 1.5 Mb/sec
      Location ID:          0x14100000 / 1
      Current Available (mA):          500
      Current Required (mA):          100

You need at least a decent bluetooth mouse.
Best option of course is the Apple Magic Mouse.  $69

  • Battery doesn't work in MacBook Air after water damage

    Hi all,
Loooong story related to problems I've had with access to certain pages using my home internet connection (turns out that's the ISP and they just didn't want to admit it).
ANYWAY, my water bottle top popped off, and poured water all over my MacBook Air 11" mid 2012. I've had it sitting for about a week - did the whole rice thing etc. I've not connected it to a power socket (scared something might happen), but I have connected it to my hyperjuice external battery. It turns on with this and works completely fine it appears, except for a little sluggishness on some keys and the trackpad. I'm hoping this will lessen as it dries out. However, as soon as I disconnect the external battery it dies. It will not turn on on its own even though the battery has 97% power.
Can I replace the battery? Do you think that will suffice? And does anyone know about how much it would cost to do this?
What's my best plan of action here? I'm a student, and I can't really afford a new laptop (& the 17" is too big and heavy to take to uni). So, in failing to fix this one, I'm not exactly sure what I'll do.
    Thanks

Your best bet is to suck it up and take it to Apple. It'll be costly but water damage is, unfortunately, the gift that keeps on giving. It really needs to be professionally repaired. Check with your renters (or your parents) home/renters insurance to see if the computer is covered.

  • Web cam doesn't work on MacBook Air!

I have a mid 2013 MacBook Air. The webcam has stopped working on Skype and Google hangout. I've spoken to Apple support and they say it's a problem with Skype beacause the webcam works on FaceTime. I've seen that others have had this problem. Has anyone found a solution?

One thing to try:  Update your Flash software.  There is probably a place to do that in System Preferences.  But you can also do it via Adobe Flash Player - Downloads.

  • Why doesn't my 2015 macbook air connect to any bluetooth devices?

I have recently bought a macbook air, having been out of the apply world for a number of years.  Stupid me, but I just presumed that my up to the minute, expensive  new laptop would connect to my non-mac, not brand new, but only a couple of year's old, bluetooth devices, the main device being my wireless speakers.  Sadly, this is not the case so I am unable to listen to any  music from my iTunes library through my speakers using my 'all singing, all dancing', amazing new macbook.  I am pretty annoyed by this to say the least.  I can't even find any meaningful advice or guidance to tell me if this is a honest to goodness fact, 'no, you can't connect it' or whether it is something that I could rectify via downloading something or even taking it to someone more techy.........so frustrated!!!!!  Please help!!

Manxtree ~ Go to Apple's Knowledge Base HERE and, into the search bar, enter: Mac Bluetooth speakers and then click the Search button. In the resulting list of hits you should see one called "OS X Yosemite: Set up Bluetooth audio devices". Click on it.

  • Macbook air 13 inch 2012 doesn't recognize external monitor...

Hello everyone I'm having a slight problem with my macbook air and I was hoping that someone here could help.
I am using a Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor to connect my Macbook air 2012 13 inch to an external monitor. When I connect my computer to the monitor my computer doesn't recognize that it is infact connected and acts as if nothing is connected.

I followed the steps on the link you provided for resetting the SMC and also did NVRAM reset but now, when I open the lid, it doesn't come back up, instead it just beeps 3 times and never comes back up.
Not sure what to do about this now.

  • Full size apple keyboard, Macbook Air and Thunderbolt problem

Here's the scenario.  Come to work, plug in Macbook air to thunderbolt display.  Hit keyboard to wake it up.  Nothing.  Click magic mouse and awake comes Macbook and thunderbolt display.  Click on user and go to type password in... no keyboard.  Happens every 2-3 days sometimes 2-3 days in a row.  Have to open Macbook Air, use Macbook keyboard to log in.  Hit restart, let it boot and then viola the usb keyboard works.
I have searched Thunderbolt firmware updates and see the previous cases of people having trouble and pram zapping and blah blah blah. I can't seem to find instructions on firmware update anywhere for thunderbolt display.  Is there no correct fix for this yet?  I'm using all Apple products.  It should just work.
    Thanks in advance.

Through experimentation, I've found that the audio works fine (i.e., no static) if I remove all USB connections from the Thunderbolt Display.
If I plug my Apple keyboard into a USB port on the Thunderbolt Display, and I let the audio play for a few minutes, the audio begins to degrade with static.
As a short-term workaround, I've removed all USB connections from the Thunderbolt Display. When I connect the MacBook Air to the display, I plug a USB hub into the MacBook Air (not into the Thunderbolt Display). I plug the Apple keyboard (etc.) into the USB hub. With this configuration, the audio works fine.
Of course, I do want to be able to use the USB ports on the Thunderbolt Display, so this is a short-term workaround at best.

  • MacBook Air and older iPods?

My MacBook Air did not seem to take a liking to my original U2 Special Edition iPod when I grabbed it this morning, stuck a USB connector cable onto it and plugged into the Air, intending to use it as a disk drive and drag some tracks onto it to stick onto my Powerbook's iTunes library later on.
I use this older iPod in my car fairly often with an FM transmitter. I usually refresh its music content from a powerbook that is currently, like the Air, running 10.5.2. I am not particular about whether I use a firewire or USB cable with this iPod since it works fine with either on the powerbook. Of course on the Air I used a USB connection.
Anyway the original U2 Special Edition iPod would not mount in the iTunes device list nor on the MacBook Air's desktop this morning, although it did show up in Disk Utility as volume labelled "18.6Gb Ipod Media". Also it put iTunes into spindump mode... i forwarded the dump to Apple with some notes. I am not sure I can replicate the experience but will try it tonight when I have a little more time... meanwhile Disk Utility would not even dismount the thing.
I finally force-quit iTunes and eventually just unplugged the iPod, which acts no worse for "no-fly" experience on the Air. I then plugged in my 5th gen U2 Special Edition iPod into the Air and dragged the music I wanted onto that, it worked fine.
So I dunno, I dunno... I guess my Macbook Air is not an antique-lover?!

    Hi
I just came back from the Apple Store, and the Genius couldn't find why the iPod didn't work. Apple Genius claimed that this iPod is a 4th Generation iPod (classic) He said that Apple has not have any statement saying that this iPod doesn't work with MacBook air. The person suggested that I buy a new iPod. I told him that is not a fair option. I told him that I want an answer from Apple Headquarters if that's the case. He filed a request and gave me a case number and he told me that Apple will call back on this.
Wait and see. Because if that's the case Apple should at least inform consumers on their web page that 4th Generation iPods don't work with MacBook Air. The Genius supervisor told me that Apple can't guarantee compatibility with future devices. But at least If feel they could state that this Apple device doesn't work with this generation of an Apple iPod. Especially if they build both devices.
I will keep you guys updated,
    marc

  • Why can't my Windows 7 machine see my MacBook Air?

I have a Windows 7 desktop  and a MacBook Air. In the wireless network we have. I've set everything up so it should see each other. Windows 7 is new for us - we had it working before with XP... We have an XP laptop, a Windows 7 desktop and a MacBook air. XP and Windows 7 see each other and MacBook Air sees Win 7. But Win 7 doesn't see my MacBook Air... I saw a solution to take Win 7 off the homegroup - but I had already disabled homegroup because I read several problems with it. So that didn't solve my problem... HELP

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • New Apple TV update & now not recognizing MacBook Air, all devices have home sharing ON.

This is getting ridiculous. I wanted to simply shoot my favorite playlist through to my TV & surround sound when a few friends stopped by. I went to turn it on using my Apple TV and wham, and had to install an update. There went 1/2 hour of waiting. Then finally done, and, nope....**** thing doesn't recognize the macbook air, or my iPhone, or my iPad. ALL have home sharing ON, including Apple TV, all are connected to the netwoork. But nope. I finally gave up after an hour of restarting all & trying to troubleshoot, find help online, but I had to get back to my guests.
These electronics are taking WAAAY too much time to update, diagnose, troubleshoot, ..... we do nothing anymore but sit on the computer.
Anyone have ANY idea how to fix this? Oh, wait, maybe I should kill two hours at a Genius Bar? Yeah, that would have been great: hey, wait a couple of hours everyone while I try to schedule an appt and get to the genisu bar so we can listen to music.

    Did you restart your router.

  • Can a MacBook Air charger  charge a MacBook  (white)?

Can a MacBook Air charger  charge a MacBook  (white)?

The power available from the MagSafe adapter intended for a MacBook/Air
likely would be insufficient for a MacBook or MacBook/Pro. They vary due
to output specification, provide inadequate power and likely could be unsat-
    isfactory in performance.
While you may be able to charge the battery in a MacBook whose original
adapter was higher output than a that from a MacBook Air, you may not
be able to run the MacBook from MB/Air adapter whilst charging its battery.
Other considerations should be followed, but general specification and well
intended design for correct power to the battery and computer needs have
to be met by the power adapter.
•Intel-Based Apple notebooks: Identifying the right power adapter and power cord
    •Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
    •Mac notebooks: All about batteries
You should try & match the correct spec adapter, or nearest. May be of higher
output than the one originally shipped with the notebook, but check all the spec
to make sure that, too, can be a workable match and not cause undue damage.
Depending on the build model identifier of the MacBook (these, made between
2006 and 2010) the power requirements changed; however a current working
replacement Magsafe 60w adapter is available from Apple, or quality vendor such
    as OWC, see example: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/MC461LLA/
    Hopefully this helps somewhat
    Good luck & happy computing!
