Thunderbolt dock fails to initialize video after update

Yosemite continues to be the buggiest OS X upgrade I've used in quite some time, if not ever.
After this most recent update my 2560x1440 display does not come up when I get to the office and plug in my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina and Belkin's original Thunderbolt dock. I tried it with a newer dock (Elgato's Thunderbolt 2 dock) and experienced the same issue. Anytime I disconnect and reconnect I have to power cycle the entire dock to get my video back. I am using a mini displayport to display port cable plugged into the dock's free thunderbolt port.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Can not play any video after update to 4.4.2

Can not play any video after update to 4.4.2, it says always that i have to reconnect my HDMI Cable, reason HDCP error.

I have made some tests,
I can only view Trailers, every thing else dosn't work any more. I could not play any Video via Airplay. I tried to do it fom my IPhone 4, my IPad 1 and from my MacBook Pro 15"/i7 2 GHz/Mac OS10.7.2.
It always says the same error.
I reset the divice again and made a restore, but the same error.
I change the HDMI cable, same error.
It works fine before, I had 4.4.1 on it. I'm using a Toshiba Beamer MT700.

Sony A7 failed to turn on after updating firmware 2.00

As i mentioned, my Sony A7 failed to turn on after updating firmware 2.00. It just appear a blank screen after click the finished button on the updating app on Mac. I waited for more than an hour and there is still no thing happened.

I bought the Sony A7II a few days ago. It initially charged just fine, but today I tried to charge it using the cable with an electrical outlet as well as the USB to computer. Neither one would get the charge light to illuminate. Not feeling the love Sony. I just purchased a Flash, wrist belt, filters, etc... I'm definitely not happy. It seems this is a problem!

IBooks 3 fails to launch even after update

On my ipad 2, iBooks version 3 still fails to launch after update. This is the first time I can recall Apple failing to fix a material bug. I hope it is working on the problem.

iBooks is working fine on my iPad 2.
Lets try first quitting the iBooks app then resetting the iPad.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
Then reboot your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

"Installer Failed To Initialize"? After Effects CS5 Mac, Help!!!

I'm in serious need of some help here. I downloaded the After Effects CS5 trial, but when I go and try to install it I get an error:
"Installer Failed To Initialize. Please Download Adobe Support Advisor To Detect The Problem"
I already tried Adobe Support Advisor, but it didn't detect any problems.
I tried re-downloading the file again, but still no luck.
I'm running an iMac with Mac OS X 10.6.2, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor.
Can anyone please help me?

Hi. I see this thread is old...last post is july 2010. However, since I just had a similar issue and since a google search brought me here, i figure id share my info with other who my hit this too...
i have os x 10.7 and am trying to install cs5.5 master collection. i kept getting the installer failed to initialize error.
by looking at the PDApp.log, i saw an error and fixed the issue causing the error...
my issue was when launching Install.app, it looks for ~/Applications and creates a folder "Adobe" in it. I had an alias in my home dir and the log showed the installer didnt see it as a valid directory.
by removing the alias, the installer then created the folder "~/Applications/Adobe" for me. However, since it created an empty folder named Applications, separate from the actual /Applications dir, this was not acceptible.
So, if i right click on /Applications and hit "Make alias" and move that to my home dir...same issue.
But, if i open Terminal.app and type "sudo ln -s /Applications" the seemingly same type of alias or "symbolic link" is created, but instead the installer see the dir as valid, and the install went flawlessly.

Has anyone suffered failure of video after updating to ios4.3.3

After updating the ios4.3.3 (8J3) cannot run movies or slideshow movies. Just get the message No Videos You can download videos from iTunes.

I don't fully understand what's involved but I've found that a System Reset cures many ills. It's easy, quick, harmless and it's not part of a Restore:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 162. Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the hardware.

Dock animation is not smooth after updating recent update

Hi everyone,
I found that Dock animation (mouse move by) is not smooth anymore after I updated the most recently update (Thunderbolt, EFI recovery).
Just like... the FPS down from 60 to 25 !!!
Dose anyone have the same issue after the update?

It was the display driver that was in the Thunderbolt update. Original/stock Lion 10.7 has driver 7.0.6. This works beautifully - MC animations smooth, browser scrolling fluid - in other words what you would expect from a $1200 laptop I pulled the trigger and did a Command-R 'reinstall' which put the original driver back on.
The TB update moved the driver to 7.0.8 and some folks are running 10.7.2 (beta ?) and it's driver is at 7.1.2. So far - folks are reporting that all of these new drivers still have the choppiness
To find out what driver is on your system, run this in a terminal:
kextstat | egrep 'Intel.*Graphics'
You shoud get something like below. The number inside the parens is the driver version.

So the real question - how can we escelate this with Apple ? This is a regression and user experience impact on a brand new line/model (MBA).

Can't access Video after updating to IOS 4.2.1

I have just updated my iPod Touch 2nd gen and now every time I try and go on the Videos I just get a blank white screen, and it returns to the Home Screen.
Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to get the Videos working?

Update:
- after they gave me a new iPod Touch 3rd gen on factory 3.1, I synced and everything worked fine as I stated above (with 5 movies, 15 TV shows and about 1000 music videos).
- I upgraded to 4.2.1 and same thing happened, pressing music icon gives me white screen for roughly 10 seconds then back to home.
- I can access videos through music icon however.
- I then wiped everything and retored to factory on 4.2.1 and synced only Apps, movies, TVS shows... all worked well.
- When I synced music videos, I did them about 200 at a time this time around. Each time upon completion going back and pressing music icon. As I added more videos the wait time on the white screen after pressing videos icon got noticeably longer, until I got up to about 700-800 music videos, then it would just white screen for 10 seconds and back to home.
- I then started removing videos and the functionality came back, leading me to believe I have found a repeatable bug, which is what I will discuss with Apple shortly.
For those of you having the same issue, how many music videos do you have? Through trial and error I have found it to be around the 600-800 mark the video icon stops working.
Please try removing some of your music videos so you have about 200-400 and let me know if your functionality comes back.

1280x720 mp4 videos stop playing video after update, only sound works

this is what appears in the inspector:

Only sound, no video anymore. It worked fine until the 9.1 iTunes update. Now I can only see the video with the VLC player.
I have another one that works fine(both sound and video) :

Playlist not playing all videos after update

I updated to 5.1, and my video playlists are no longer working correctly. It will play the first video, then stop and the screen saver will turn on. If I try to restart the video, I get the spinning circle that never goes away. If I close iTunes and re-open it, I can start the video again, but it will again stop after the first one. Everything was working fine until the last update to 5.1.
Any idea how I can either fix this, or go back to before the last update?

OK, so the second macs library is visible from the tv, you can navigate the videos in that library but when you try to play a video it won't. I'm still not clear whether this is all videos or just some, but meantime try this.
From itunes select a troublesome video, choose file/show in finder and note the location of the original file.
From itunes (not the finder) delete the file and choose keep files when prompted.
Drag the original file from the finder back into itunes.
Does this help.

Cant play video after update

Hi, First off sorry if this is posted somewhere else on how to fix this or what the issue is. I am not very computer friendly. I open iTunes and it said to update I did, well after I did update I cant play any video/movies of any kind. It pops up with a message saying the program isn't working and that Windows is shutting it down and will let me know when there is a soultion to my problem. Can some one please let me know what I can do to fix this? I have a HP Pavilion beyond that I have no idea if you need any other info. I do use windows. Thank you

Vcenter fails to sign in after update to 5.5 due to adding 3rd esxi 5.5 host

Added new 5.5esxi host, and attemted to add 5.5 host using 5.1 vcenter. Asked for license or evaluation then dropped host.
Vcenter will not authenticate with two 5.1 esxi hosts after 5.5 upgrade. I then updated 5.1 vcenter to 5.5 then tried to sign in, and vcenter failed however when I sign in one host in vsphere client the dialog box states that my vcenter at xx.xx.xx address is in use.
Unable to login, to vcenter. Since the hosts are live production servers, am unsure of the next step since I don't want to disconnect
The users "live production" from inventory.
I've updated to 5.5 due to a third esxi 5.5 installed over weekend.
There is no domain used and the domain controller is off.
Please offer assistance

hello David thank you for replying, I have to hosts that are running in production and they were previously connected to vCenter via 5. 1. the third host is not currently up and running yet and it is on soon to be vcenter 5.5. . The vCenter still loads as 5.5, and I can sign into the first host and the second host independent of the vSphere sign on via its ip address. . when I sign into the other hosts the to host involved with a dialog box stating vcenter in use. . Since it is a busy weekend for my client due to Memorial Day weekend. cannot afford to have an error with respect to disconnection of the host from the center when I sign on to vCenter via the web client I get a error message that it cannot connect to port 443 even though the vCenter client is connected to 9443. if you're stating that I should remove the host from the client "will I lose any existing inventory that is currently residing on the host on the production machines. please note, the domain controller, and ad seever are off currently due to client working in workgroups. Soon to move them on a domain..
. I have created another 2008 r2 server with I'm going to install the simple sign on installation of the center on that server and I'd like to ideally connect to you 5. 5 vCenter to the host number 1 and number 2. please advise on the appropriate procedure to allow me keep vms up and running

Try uninstalling then reinstalling the latest version of Flash.
Uninstall Flash
Install the most recent version of Flash here.
Then repair disk permissions...
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

MBP Fails to Start Up after Update

I recently applied an update to the iLife '11 Suite through the Mac App Store. (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband) When I restarted the computer after the update, instead of starting up normally, there is now a progress bar that appears for a few seconds below the Apple logo on the white screen after the chime. After the progress bar disappears, there is just a spinning circle and the Apple logo on a white screen. Why is my computer not starting up properly after this update? Thanks.

As to cost - it all depends on whether you want to do-it-yourself or have Apple do it or an AASP tackle it. It's very easy to replace yourself - there on hundreds of YouTube videos on how to replace hard drives. To get an idea of the cost, look at the internal drives at Crucial and OWC - you'll also need a Phillips #00 and Torx T6 screwdrivers. There are even videos on OWC that take you through the relatively easy step-by-step procedure.
I would just stay away from Western Digital drives: personally, I like Seagate, as they've given me no problems over the decades.
