Thunderbolt doesn't appear to be working during Migration

Trying to migrate right now from an MBP (running the latest OS) onto a new Air. Wifi is, of course, terrible, so I borrowed a Thunderbolt from a friend, but even that isn't working. Running Migration Assistant on both laptops, each laptop is just searching for the other. The MBP says it's looking for other computers, while the Air says it's looking for a source.
Wifi is turned off on both. The MBP - and subsequently the Air - are work laptops so I'm dead in the water until fixed, yet I don't know where to start. Help?

Hi volleyhart,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
When running Migration Assistant using ThunderBolt, I would suggest going through the process step by step as described by the following article. This can be use helpful if neither computer can see the other. The specific steps you will need are in the Migrating using FireWire or ThunderBolt section.

  • Windows Components/remote desktop services/remote desktop session host/profile doesn't appear to be working on 2008R2 boxes

    I have two domains.   One is an account domain with a one way trust with the resource domain.   Resource domain trusts the account domain and has a number of 2008R2 servers running within.  I am experiencing severe logon delays
    due to these servers being unable to access the server that hosts the user home folder specified directly on the user account profile tab from the account domain.   When using my workstation in the actual account domain (corporate) I have no
    problems.
    Because of these network restrictions,  I need to override the 2008R2's desire to access that user home folder location in the account domain.
    So far the best thing I have found to try is Windows Components/remote desktop services/remote desktop session host/profile/Set Remote Desktop User Home Directory
    The problem is that so far I have tried to configure this to point to both a local folder as well as a network path and it doesn't appear to be doing anything.   Not seeing any errors in the app or system log either.
    It is still trying to map the path in the account domain.
    Any ideas?
    Is there a better way to accomplish my goal?   The servers in the resource domain will be Citrix servers and there will be a lot of users connecting from the account domain.
    I tried this setting too,  but it only seems to work on the 2012 machines in my Resource domain.
    With the introduction of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 there is now a new group policy setting called “Set user home folder” and is found under Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > System > User Profiles
    Help!

    Hi,
    This might be due to permission problems. Please check whether the user accounts for whose home folder to be redirected have permissions in the shared folder specified in the server.

  • Evince fullscreen doesn't appear to be working properly

    Ever since that update to evince that made everything really pretty, the option to view documents in fullscreen mode doesn't work properly.  Instead of removing the title bar, a second title bar is created under the first one, and this second bar disappears after some time, and can be brought back with the mouse.  It is useful to note that this only occurs when I use my window manager of choice, xmonad, and presumably any other tiling window manager.  The only other one I tried was openbox, and while using that evince performed admirably.  Is this a bug with evince not playing nicely with tiling window managers?  Is there a workaround that is known?  I would appreciate any help with this issue.  Here's the very top left bit of a screenshot (because of arch's rule about no images larger than 250x250):
    Edit: got that image link working

    I went ahead and filed a bug report for this because it sure seems like this is a problem with evince: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=742736

  • Imatch doesn't appear to be working

    I purchased the imatch service but it doesn't seem to be functioning properly.   I've turned on imatch but it doesn't indicate that it is matching my music, not is it providing any feedback messages explaining it's working or if there are errors.
    I've uploaded many CDs into the itunes library and I've imported mp3 files.   The only songs what have the "cloud" icon are ones that were actually purchased through itunes.
    What am i doing wrong?  I thought that once imatch was turned on it would perform automatically.

    Hi,
    Add Icloud status field to the song view. You can do this by going to the main menu > view > view options. Tick Icloud status.
    Now look at you library. What is the Icloud Status for each track.

  • When burning a playlist to CD, the choice of space between the tracks doesn't appear to be working

    I've noticed that when I try to burn a playlist to CD, I could set how many seconds between tracks (0 to 5). That drop down menu is still there but it doesn't seem to be functional now. It always defaults to 0 seconds, no matter what number in the drop down list I choose. I'm using iTunes 11.0.1 with Mountain Lion. I tend to burn at 1x speed.

    Mick,
    Make a different playlist that has entirely different songs from the first playlist, and contains less than 70 minutes of music.  Does it burn?

  • Port forwarding doesn't appear to be working.

    I'm trying to port forward my RDP ports on my Airport extreme so I can access my Windows machine from outside my local network.
    I've forwarded port 3389 to the correct IP but I can't connect. I can connect from inside my network by using my internal IP address but if i try to connect with my external ip address it will not connect.
    I've disabled the windows firewall but this was all working on my netgear router that I had before I got the airport extreme.
    I've also tried port scanning the router from my mac mini and it does not detect that port 3389 is open.

    I was able to get it working by making my main machine the default host but I would prefer to not expose my main machine to the internet like this. Any idea why it's not working?

  • TableModelListener doesn't appear to be working

    Hi,
    I have the following code that is called when a menu item is selected. When the method tableChanged is commented out, the table is displayed just fine. With it in, even if the if statements are commented out, it doesn't display. I just get the frame title being displayed.

  • FlexFlash scrub doesn't appear to be working

    I have a scrub policy setup for FlexFlash to be scrubbed once I disassociate the profile from a server.  I installed ESXi on a blade, then disassociated the profile, and expected the blade to come back with nothing installed.  Much to my surprise, ESXi was still installed.
    I have attached what my policy looks like, and I believe it is set properly.
    It may be unrelated, but, I also noticed that there is an error with the RAID Health for my FlexFlash controller.  Says Degraded, though I am unsure why as the SD cards are 2 brand new cards.   I've attached a screenshot for that as well.

    Majid,
    I had put this issue aside until after I recently upgraded my system firmware to 2.2.1d, hoping some feature updates might help this, but it did not.
    I have a second blade that is exhibiting this behavior as well, except that this blade is not using dual cards.  I have my Scrub policy set to FlexFlash only.  However, when I disassociate, FlexFlash is not scrubbed, I don't even get a warning about my policy being set to scrub FlexFlash as I would if I had it set to Disk.

  • Role assignment did not work during migration

    We just finished a QA migration from EP60 to NW04 SPS14.
    Everything went OK with the exception of the following:
    Users who had customer defined roles assigned in the source system (EP60) did not get the roles assigned in the target system.(NW04) For example, if I had a few out of the box SAP roles assigned to a user in the source system, they were assigned to that user in the migrated NW04 system. The customer assinged roles did not get attached to the same users users.
    Has anybody run into similar findings ???

    Some more info.
    We may have figured out that during the migration the NW portal inititaed a connection to our LDAP server and failed. We have MSADS with a multi LDAP configuration and have configured SSL for the connection to LDAP.
    Any Ideas ???

  • IMR Doesn't Appear to Work

    All,
              One machine running netscape and proxy. All requests are forwarded to
              the cluster. Two machines, one WL instance per. WL 510 SP4. All URLs
              go through NS/proxy.
              I can see the proxy round-robin the requests to the cluster, but IMR
              doesn't appear to be working. I've set the following cluster props:
              weblogic.httpd.clustering.enable=true
              weblogic.httpd.session.persistence=true
              weblogic.httpd.session.persistentStoreType=replicated
              When a user logs in on the first server, a session is created. The
              next request seems to be proxied to the second server and, since the
              session doesn't exist on the second server, my application returns a
              UserNotAuthenticatedException. If IMR was working it seems the
              original log in request that caused the session to be created would be
              replicated to the secondary server, but it's apparently not working.
              I'm obviously missing something. I'm suspicious of the NS/proxy config
              for some reason, but I haven't verified that setup yet. Any ideas are
              appreciated. Thanks!

    Jason,
              This is a doc bug.
              I will ask our docs team to correct it.
              Currently all WLS's in a cluster should be listening on the same port
              number.
              We are planning to add this feature in the next major release.
              i.e. WLS's can listen on different ports in a cluster.

  • SunOneDS-5.2 bind authmethod=ssl doesn't appear to work

    Having set up DS-5.2 with SSL + allow user authentication + user entry with (binary) certificate + certmap.conf setup for user cert CA cert + ACI entry with bind rule set to
    allow (all) (userdn = ....) and (authmethod="ssl")
    client connections ARE authenticated by client certificate when passed.
    However, if the client binds with bindDN=userdn in ACI, but NOT using either a certificate nor SSL connection, the associated search request is still allowed. In other words, it appears that the "authmethod=ssl" bind rule HAS NO AFFECT!? Other ACI's on the entry deny anonymous access and allow other groups without SSL.
    The SunOneDS-5.2 Administration Guide states for authmethod="ssl",
    SSL - The client must bind to the directory over a Secure Sockets
    Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS) connection
    but this doesn't appear to be working in forcing an SSL bind/connection.
    It is also interesting to note that the client certificate is offered at the LDAP connection step and not at the LDAP bind step and that a subsequent bind appears to be necessary to properly affect a subsequent search. That is, with the above ACI bind rule, connect with certificate over SSL but bind as annonymous and the search fails. ANY connection with proper bindDN and bindPW satisfies the ACI and the search succeeds.
    The intention is to FORCE SSL connections for certain subtrees where the LDAP server ALSO allows NON-SSL connections for OTHER subtrees. A secondary desire is to allow SSL + certificate authentication to provide the forced SSL connection and user binding without requiring a subsequent bindDN and bindPW.
    An example of SSL + certificate connection + full user binding is:
    conn=30 op=-1 msgId=-1 - SSL 128-bit RC4; client 0.9.2342.19200300.100.1.4=Personal/User SSL Certificate, CN=......., OU=......, O=...., L=...., ST=...., C=..; issuer 0.9.2342.19200300.100.1.4=localnet10 SSL only CA Certificate, CN=SSLonlyCA, OU=......., O=..., L=...., ST=..., C=..
    conn=30 op=-1 msgId=-1 - SSL client bound as uid=NEngineer1,ou=People,o=..,c=..
    conn=30 op=0 msgId=1 - BIND dn="uid=NEngineer1,ou=People,o=..,c=.." method=128 version=3
    conn=30 op=0 msgId=1 - RESULT err=0 tag=97 nentries=0 etime=0 dn="uid=nengineer1,ou=people,o=..,c=.."
    conn=30 op=1 msgId=2 - SRCH base="o=..,c=.." scope=2 filter="(dc=.............)" attrs="dn ........."
    conn=30 op=1 msgId=2 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=1 etime=

    Corrected - what was needed was a bind rule, boolean change from "and" to "or":
    (targetattr = "*") (version 3.0;acl "DENY all but Network Administrators access";deny (all)(groupdn != "ldap:///cn=Network Administrators,ou=Groups,o=xx,c=xx")or(authmethod!="ssl");)

  • Import dialog doesn't appear (OS X)

    When I connect my SanDisk Firewire memory card reader to my Mac Pro, Lightroom doesn't open and the import dialog doesn't appear. This worked fine on my previous G5. iPhoto isn't opening either... nothing happens at all when I plug in the reader.

    Chris, you may have already done this, but be sure to check 'Show Import Dialog when a Memory card is detected' under Import in LR PReferences, as well.

    Hi mafiose15,
    Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
    How to restore iPod
    Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
    Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
    Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
    After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
    Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
    If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
    A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
    Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
    During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
    Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
    You can find the instructions in this article:

  • HT201317 Photo stream doesn't work wen I take photo,photos doesn't appear in photo stream ?

    Photo stream doesn't work , wen I take photo, photos doesn't appear in photo stream

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
        1.    Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
        2.    Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
        3.    Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
    Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
    If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
    Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.
