Thundrbolt firmware update 1.2 will not install using yosemite on macbook pro retina

Cannot install thunderbolt firmware update 1.2 on macbook 13 in retina running yosemite.  Have tried disconnection all peripherals.  No success.

Probably your Thunderbolt display is already up-to date. To check this, follow these steps:
Choose About This Mac from the Apple () menu.
Click More Info and then click System Report.
Click Thunderbolt in the list on the left and locate the Thunderbolt Display section. If the Firmware Version is  26.2 and the Port Micro Firmware Version is 2.0.7, you won't need this update.
I bought my ATD one year ago, and according to Apple it is "up-to date"... But I still have serious problems with it (follow this thread).

  • MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.0 will not install.

    Hi
The latest MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.0 will not install.
It runs and I restart my Mac but when I search for more updates it appears as a required update again.
Anyone know why this may be?

I had the same problem today. I called Apple support who transferred me to second level support and no resolution. I decided to try a combination of the items I have seen below.
I restarted my computer. I went to apple support download and downloaded the software EFI firmware update 2.0 by typing in search window. I made sure the power cord was pulled into the wall and the laptop had a FULL charge. I installed the update and the computer restarted.
I went to check the software update window after the update and restart completed and SUCCESSFUL.
I do not know why the Genius Bar or the second level support could not resolve my issues but, by me reading information here I hope at least this issue is resolved.
    Thanks ALL.......... Happy Mac ing

  • Keyboard firmware update 1.0 will not install

Hi - I think others have had similar problems, but I don't know if a solution exists?
When software opens on our macbook here at work, we get a message that there is an update available for the keyboard. It should ensure that the first keystroke is recognized after the macbook's been asleep and solve a few other problems. Well, the first keystroke isn't generally recognized, so I decided to try again to install it. Here is what happens:
It downloads perfectly, as far as I can tell.
    The machine restarts.
The software tries to install itself. It quits less than halfway through, giving me an error message and then, "your keyboard firmware could not be updated". This has happened twice over the past three months or so. What is this update, how important is it, and how on earth do I get it to install?
    TIA!

First, does your MacBook meet the following requirements:
    System Requirements
Installation of MacBook and MacBook Pro Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 requires Mac OS X 10.5.2.
Note the above because it does not appear that you have a version of Leopard installed.
The MacBook and MacBook Pro Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 supports the following products:
    MacBook (Late 2006)
    MacBook (Mid 2007)
    MacBook (Late 2007)
MacBook Pro (17-inch Core 2 Duo)
MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo)
    MacBook Pro (Mid 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz)
    MacBook Pro (Late 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz)
When will the keyboard firmware be updated?
This update installs an application in the Utilities folder called "Built-in Keyboard Firmware Update." The updater application will automatically open. Once open, please follow the instructions within the application to complete the update. It can also be manually run later by double-clicking the updater in the Utilities folder.
Second, I would download and install the standalone version rather than using Software Update.

  • Firmware Update 1.2 will NOT install.

Hi, I have a 20" Intel Core 2 Duo iMac; 2.16GHz late 2006 Model. Today, I tried to update the firmware when apple told me on the software update that I need to update my firmware. I downloaded the firmware update program. In the Utilities I double clicked on it and it started. It said that I needed to close all my applications which I did and click shutdown. After clicking shutdown it told me to push the power button to restart it manually. It started up and a progress bar appeared on the screen for about 1 second, then it disappeared. The computer restarted itself and it came back to the desktop with the firmware update program saying the same text box as before. It said if this box reappears then the firmware was not properly updated. So, what should I do? The only hardware changes I've made to my computer recently was updating my memory to 2 GB from the original 1 GB. Could that cause this problem? If not, what should I do? Also... the firmware version in the system profiler was the same as before IM51.0090.B08. Please only respond if you have encountered this exact situation before or know the solution, don't reply if you just have hypotheticals that are not directly related.

Bobby..I can't say that I know the solution for sure...but I do have the exact same model iMac as you..and the 1.2 Firmware installed perfectly for me
Reading your post...I am wondering if you held down the power button long enough to hear the rapid beeps while the iMac is restarting and/or the fast flashing of the light on the front of your iMac... mine did both...could be the problem if you didn't hold it long enough...it took about 3 minutes for the update to install
Since you saw the text box and the firmware was not properly updated I believe it said to apply the update again

  • Macbook efi firmware update 1.1 will not install

When I check for software updates, there is an update that is labeled "Macbook EFI firmware update 1.1", I click on the button to install it, a message is displayed that the update was installed successfuly, I click on the "OK" button, it checks for updates again a message is displayed that "Your software is up to date". When I click on the "Quit" button a Windows opens displaying a message about the firmware update and I have to click on the "Shut down" button. The system shuts down, when I turn it back on and check for software updates again the "Macbook EFI firmware update 1.1" is listed again, I have been through this 3 times, it says it installs but when I check again it still shows up as an update that needs to be installed and the firmware version has not changed as is should if the update did in fact install, what am I missing???

Firmware update 1.1 is a very old update for 10.4 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL207 I have no idea why it would be showing up on your MacBook.

  • Elements 4 will not install on my new MacBook Pro

Bought Elements 4 in 2007 for my previous Power Mac and now just upgraded to a Macbook Pro and the program won't install .
Get the message that this version no longer supported for new the Intel Chip Macs. I know the version is old but worked perfectly well for my purposes.
So do I just chuck that money away and fork out for another proggie?  What is the next version?
    Thanks

Yes, you need a new version, one written for intel macs. PSE 6 is the very oldest than can be coaxed to work in 10.8, but PSE 11 is the current version. But then August is usually not a smart month for buying PSE.

  • Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2 will not install

I have attempted numerous times to get this Thunderbolt update to install, and it always pops back up. I always have the power cord plugged in, I own no Thunderbolt devices, so there is no issue there, and I have even attempted to install it in safe boot - to no avail. I suppose that it is not affecting me majorly, but it is mildly annoying to constantly have the App Store telling me that I need to install something that I've attemped to a dozen times. If anyone has any other hints on how to get this to work, they would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

When you're trying to install the update, was your AC power plugged in?
I had the same problem, but this time my AC was plugged in and the update didn't pop up anymore.
When I tried to read the announcement of Thunderbolt update 1.2 from Apple, there's a note at the last sentence.
"Note: Your computer must be plugged into AC power for the update to install."
    Hope this might help

  • Updates will not install using App Store on 10.7.5

Updates will not install using the App Store.  I am using a MacBook Pro on 10.7.5.  When I click the button labeled "update" in App Store, the little wheel in the upper left-hand corner continues to spin forever (I waited 12 hours one time) but nothing happens.  No updates will install.  My Macbook Pro has always operated without issues since I bought it new in 2009, and I have a reliable, fast internet connection.

    Let's try a test here.
Make a new User Account, and try to update from there.

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to download, install, and reactive their devices it right now. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

New Time Capsule will not back up my 2009 MacBook Pro. I can see and find my last back before Mavericks but cannot backup. The TC will not allow me to delete or start a new backup disk. My 2024 MacBook Air did the same yesterday but today it backs up.

  • How to create Install OS X Yosemite for MacBook Pro Retina Early-2015

HELP ME! Unable to Boot from Install OS X Yosemite USB
I just bought a new MacBook Pro Retina 13" Early-2015 and wish to install Windows 8.1. I created Windows Install USB using Boot Camp and Installing Windows. Unfortunately, I erase all SSD by accident.
I created Install OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 USB as guided at https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201372 using my MacBook Pro Retina Late-2013.
This USB works perfectly on my MacBook Pro Retina Late-2013 but I am unable to boot from Yosemite 10.10.2 Install USB on my new MacBook Pro Retina Early-2015. The white stop sign appeared on black screen all the time. I am stuck here and can't reinstall OS X Yosemite on my new MacBook.
I also can't use Recovery boot as the SSD had been erased.
Please help to show me how to create OS X Install USB that can use with my MacBook Pro Retina 13" Early-2015

Boot the MBP with the OPTION + COMMAND + R keys.
It should result in a display with a revolving globe.
If you follow the directions, it will connect you to the Apple servers and you will be able to install the original OSX that came with your MBP.
You will need a solid Internet connection.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook Pro SMC update 1.3 will not install

    Greetings,
I am having problems getting the latest SMC update to install on my 15" Macbook pro. My built in drive has a boot camp partition, so I understand if the update won't install using that. But When booting off freshly GUID partitioned and HFS+(journaled) formatted Firewire 400 drive (Leopard installed and updated to 10.5.7) SMC 1.3 update will not install and gives same error "Your firmware can not be updated because the hard drive partition scheme may not be supported. You must be booted from a GUID partition or RAID scheme." Huh?
I tried the update pushed down by software update, and a manual download.
Current SMC version showing in system profiler as 1.16f10
Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions?

"...hit the hardware start button, get gong, machine starts to boot, something briefly flashes on the screen"
Hi Bob, you have to hold down the start button(5-10secs) until you hear a long tone. Then let go and everything is ok.
You'll also see the progress bar install the update, that is what the brief flash was but because the button wasn't held for a few seconds, it didn't take.
