THX setup console, no digital out

I have Audigy 2 ZS notebook. I connected it to my home theater system via optical cable but I can not get 5. sound from all of my speakers. I can not select digital output on THX setup console. It is even not highlighted. Am I missing something? Looking forward to getting help.

hey, i'm a newbie to all of this but i remembered that when i installed the sound card there were two sets of drivers, one for 5. surround sound and one for 2. stereo sound. you might not be able to select 5. surround because the wrong drivers are installed. try uninstalling it and reinstalling it with with 5. from the initial set up. maybe that will straighten it out. just thought that might help. but if it doesn't, well, i'm a newbie......

  • THX Setup Console Involuntary Configuration Cha

Presently I have a 5. speaker selection which works fine (sometimes). For some unexplained reason my default settings in THX Setup Console periodically change from 5. to 2., with the resultant cutoff of 3 speakers. At the same time, the location of my Front Center Channel Selection changes from my settiing of 'Above monitor' to 'Below monitor. My default changes remain in place for a variable time, ranging from several days to several weeks. I have installed the latest Audigy update (SBAX_WEBUP_LB_2_08_0004) with no effect. Win XP Pro, SP2.

It looks like you are not hitting r2 through the console, you are hitting r2 via telnet.
If this is true, you should be able to put a password on vty 0 4 and sucessfully connect.
"Password needed and none set" is a telnet error ... not someting that would come from a console connection.
In your host definitions on the TermServer, remember to use a loopback address of te TermServer (along with the port 2001, 2002 ...).
Like: host r2 192.168.1.1 2002 <--192.168.1.1 is the loopback address of the termserver (itself).
    Good Luck

  • THX setup console is NOWHERE to be fou

so far this question has been posted about 40 times and there has been no solutions for it so i'll ask it again,I?cannot find the THX console anywhere, it is on my setup disk but when i run it i get "setup has experienced an error" there is no download for it anywhere (accept for audigy) and i have tried about0 different things from various post to try and resolve this, including a full uninstall of all drivers and sofware (in safe mode) STILL no thx console, and i assume this is where the proper speaker config settings are as the creative drivers have none,So i have a sound card that is more expensi've than my motherboard but i get better 5. from my realtek on board sound!!?is there a way to fix this!!!theres not much point in 5. if you have no rear speakers,?it is getting old realy fast and so far the only fix iv found is to just not use the card, which isnt what id prefer to do with a brand new sound card.

Thanks for the reply, those drivers look pretty cool, i'll give them a try later!!
I managed to resolve the problem, its caused when you get the latest drivers and install them WITHOUT installing the ones from the disk, once youv put in the new ones you cant put in the old utilities, so for anyone else getting this problem. .uninstall all creative software (ALL)2.uninstall device in device manager.3.restart.4.install the drivers and utils?from your disk.5.restart, then install newer drivers.6.JOB DONE!?

    Today is your luck day.
Just sent this to a friend, so I've decided to make it publicly available.
    http://hotfile.com/dl/3546352/e568d/AuzenTHXConsole_3_50_05.exe.html
There is no hardware check, so it will install on any system, but obviously will only support devices with a X-Fi PCI or PCI-E chipset.
Finally, to make it clear, it supports Auzen X-Fi Prelude, Forte and HomeTheater HD cards.

  • Have to reset digital out after every reboot - please he

I have my speakers digitally connected to my X-Fi and i'm facing the following problem: after every WinXP reboot i have to reset the digital out in the THX setup console in order to get sound again. My drivers are the latest version, downloaded from the Creative site, whereas the tools (various setup consoles) are from the original install CD. Is maybe this causing it's Are there later versions of the consoles available (to correspond to the latest drivers), didn't find any on the Creative site?
    Would appreciate help...

I was having the same problem, but it seems for me it's just if I'm in game mode. I use x-fi mode changer http://www.freewebs.com/spectra9/xfmc.html?and have the default setting as Entertainment mode. Now I almost never have to waste time switching digital out off and on again. I've got bf2 and bf242, and gamespy set to automatically switch to game mode via this utility so I don't curse myself anymore for forgetting to switch to game mode anymore.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook - Digital Out Greyed

I just purchased a Toslink to minijack connector to hook my Audigy 2 ZS up to my Denon 3808CI. I have hooked up the optical cable to my Denon and have no problems getting sound thru the speakers. The issue is that I cannot select the "Digital output" in the THX Setup Console, it can only be set to Analog which doesn't even allow me to get 2. audio, only 2.0.
I have the most updated drivers installed and the Creative Feature Mode is set to "Advanced". I have tried everything to get the optical output box to be selectable but nothing has worked.
Does anyone know how to fix this, it is really bugging me out? Thanks!

Did you set the encoding to be done by an?external device and also try by enabling the bit-accurate playback?jutapaMessage Edited by jutapa on 02-02-20080:0 PM

  • Problems with the/while opening the THX Setup Cons

    hi everybody,
hopefully i'm not asking an already often answered question, but since i didn't find a solution for my problem on the initial forum search i'll try my luck with a new thread.
my first (little) problem is that whenever i open the thx setup console all volumes are set to the maximum. not that big of a deal, but still annoying. is there something i can do against this?
the second (not that big either) problem is, that the calibration settings, to be exactly the db-settings, in the thx console aren't properly saved. sometimes (i didn't yet find out after doing what or when or why) they are just changed, and i have to set them for my setup again. any ideas?
thx for your help in advance,
    -vio

I had the same problem. Sometimes the settings just seemed to change, not sure why. I don't know of a fix and there is no save button.
I just finished uninstalling everything Creative and then reinstalled the THX Console off the original disc only, then the new Audio Console, then the new Beta Drivers. Everything is working fine for now. There is also an update for the THX Console, but I haven't installed it yet.
    Good luck, hope this hel

  • GD580 + Audigy 2 ZS + Digital Out 5.1 = only stereo

Alright, I didn't think this would be so complicated, but maybe it is. I just purchased a Creative Inspire GD580 5.1 surround speaker setup. I have an Audigy 2 ZS PCI sound card. I want to connect the digitial out to my speaker setup using the digital out on my Audigy 2 ZS. My main reason for the surround setup is for gaming. So far I have only been able to get stereo sound with both gaming AND DVD movies.
Anyone who can enlighten me on how to do this, I would be very grateful.
    Thanks!

Optical and digital coax connections can't carry multichannel audio, only stereo. The only way to get multichannel via digital is if it is an AC3 bitstream. Creative also use a 4-pole connector that can carry multichannel digital but your speakers must have a digital DIN connection to use this feature. Otherwise for games, you must use the analogue connections. For your movies, you can use your digital connection, but you must select SPDIF output in the DVD software and select SPDIF pass through in the soundcard options. This way your speakers will decode the AC3 bitstream.
You might want to look at this: http://us.creative.com/support/kb/ar...p?l=2&sid=5035
A suggestion to Creative moderators: I think it would be a good idea for Creative to supply a guide with the sound cards and speakers on the various types of connections. Stuff like the capabilities/limitations of each connection and details on AC3 and the way games output audio. There seems to be so many people confused by the multitude of connection possibilities (I was at first).

  • Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music Bass level control in THX setup cons

hi, i have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music, plugged in to a Logitech X-530 speaker system. The problem i'm having its in the bass redirection controls in THX setup console... The crossover frequency works fine, but i can't control the subwoofer level, i tried it a few days ago and it worked, it was the first and last time it worked... any help?

Hello, I know this is un related but I require your help. Im on the same setup as you but I have the next speakers up the X 540. However the sound card seems to be louder on the left than the right. Is this something to do with the Crossover you mentioned?
    Thanks for you help.
If you can help id be greatful if we could talk on msn?

  • Really sorry for the old Dolby Digital Out question ,but

... I?ve tried all I?ve read in the forum. But I still get PCM96 Stereo only from my X-FI Platinum front SPDIF Out.
I mean that?s why I bought this card: easy SPDIF connection to my Pioneer THX setup.
Here is the story: At least PCM96 means some digital signal is going into my Reciever. I used the fixdigiout.exe to get to that point. The audio console reports 7. speakers and Bitstream Out.
I?ve tried ac3filter, but now I get only noise on my speakers. When I try to play a DVD with Mediaplayer , the option to output via SPDIF is greyed out.
My target app is Sony Vegas 7, where I intended to do some Surround Mixing. But it only gives me Stereo on SPDIF.
Has anyone successfully managed to get this expensi've card to do what it is supposed to?
    Regards
    editmaster

Except for the DVD playback thing, the card is doing what it is supposed to do. It can only pass-through bitstreams, not encode on the fly. To get pass-through you have to disable the built-in decoder and enable spdif-out in the player, WMP doesn't support spdif by itself, you have to?check on the DVD decoder documentation. Also if you have a logitech webcam, disable the integrated microphone. Finally if you are using Vista to SPDIF-out is a mess and pass-through not always works.

  • XF-I digital out to DTT3500 WOR

untill you touch the xf-i software....
I installed my new xf-i fatality card in one of my computers, hooked up the 4 ring minijack into the flexijack, mentioned in a speaker setup screen that i had 5. speakers on digital out AND IT WORKED JUST FINE..
I could hear the lady's voice run around me and i was rather supprised at this because this forum is full of how the xf-i doesnt work with the dtt3500.
Then i started touching buttons in that fancy looking console and that was when it broke and playing every channel on the front speakers.
I've been messing around with the software for 0 minutes now but i cant get the suround back.
So is this a software problem afterall and not a problem with the hardware ?
I'm going to see what happens if i put it in another computer which hasnt been infected by the software yet too see what happens.

btw it did only come up with 2. speakers when the first wizard showed up.
I selected those and changed it in the startup console.
and it broke after i switched audio modus from entertainment to gamingMessage Edited by Conz on 2-24-2005 2:39 AM

help. I have a Google Hangout in 40mins and my sound seems to have vanished. I went to Sys Prefs and it came up with Digital Out....and the Internal Speakers option is no longer there. How do I reboot, or fix this please?

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. If not, the machine needs to be serviced. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by the warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • Does anyone know why there would be slight latency using a digital out (Toslink w/adaptor) to my amp, where I don't have latency with an analogue cable? Is it the amp that is causing the latency?

Recenty used a Macbook Pro with analogue out to my amp and there was no latency at all. Bought a new iMac and got a Toslink cable with adaptor and connected to same amp. There is slight latency using the digital out! Can anyone explain why? I don't really want to go back to using the digital cable because I have the surround sound setup that works well with the optical cable.

  • 2 digital out 2 analog in loop

    LabVIEW 2013 SP 1
    Windows 7 Pro
    NI DAQ PCIe-1433
Custom PC board attached to the DAQ
Each individual signal disucssed has been tested and works.
    Hi all,
I have an application that does a bunch of setup, when the user presses go, runs a main loop that does a number of things, saving images, etc., and also periodically sets digital output pins HI, and then LO.
This has to be synchronized with the image retrieval and storage.
    It is working well.
I need to add 2 Analog Input signals, also synched with the Digital out and the video capture.
I simplified it all so that in the test application, I start the app, set up some preliminary stuff, and when the user presses go, run a main loop.
I've removed the video component and data file components for now.
The test app will trigger a single digial out (e.g. left puff) and start listening on a single Analog In (e.g., left mic).
When the left mic reaches a trigger level, it flags it, and stops listening.
When the time is up, the digital out (left puff) is set to LO.
If the trigger level hasn't been reached when the digital timer is up, it stops listening then too.
That works okay (the first time).
However, the loop keeps running, as it should.  When the next time hack comes around the the same thing is supposed to happen again (either left or right), the digital signal is not tripped, and the Analog In is not started.
And that failure is true for all future loop iterations.
I threw in a counter to show me if the LabVIEW was enterring the case statement, and it is counting up as it should.  But the signals are not generated.
If I go to the diagram, and turn on the 'lightbulb' tracking; everything works.
I get the digital output when I should, I get the analog in.
When I turn off tracking, it doesn't work past the first iteration.
    I've attached the example file.
    Any thoughts are appreciated,
    Jeff

    Hi Julian,
That occurred to me as well, but I couldn't see it.
After taking the night off, and looking at it again, I noticed that the 'stop' case was executing directly following the 'start' case (within the same iteration of the while loop).
So, it was actually turning on, but then immediately turning off, before any slow-witted human could discern the action.
    Thanks for the solution.

  • No Option for Digital Out

After a week of trying to get the Digital Audio Out to work on the X-Fi Audio Extreme card I purchased I'm giving up on Creative! I've always used SoundBlaster Li've & Audigy cards on every computer I've built in the past. I'm building an HTPC & I want to be able to run Digital Audio signals thru my A/V receiver. I have a couple of other units that work just fine this way. One using the original Audigy card & another with the built in C-Media sound. I did a lot of searching & see a lot of other people with the same problem. From what I've determined is that "digital port" is a combination I/O port. In both the Creative console & the Audio console there is no option to enable the Digital Out and no soundcard option to enable "spdif bypass". How can it be with all the posts on the forum here and elsewhere that someone from Creative hasn't realized that there is no option in the software to do this?I bought a Gigabyte motherboard for this HTPC that has built in sound with SPDIF out. After a lot of screwing around trying to get SPDIF to work I found in small print in the manual that to enable the spdif out you need to order a special cable/bracket to enable the SPDIF out from the motherboard. Nowhere on any web site was this mentioned. Turns out the ONLY place in the US to get one of these is from Gigabyte directly!?Very frustrated with these computer hardware outfits that don't supply the proper info for their products. Anyone else feel the same way??

I'm pretty sure I installed all the programs that came on the cd. Did all the upgrades also. I've always liked the sound quality of the SBlaster line of cards. I was searching last nite on the Compusa site & saw a couple of Diamond Multimedia cards and they had separate SPDIF in & out ports on the back of the card. Certainly seems they would be a lot simpler to get working properly than having one port for both in & out functions. Now a moot point for me as I sent away for the SPDIF cable & bracket from Gigabyte to use the onboard sound. Returned the X-Fi card last nite to CC.
