Ti Geforce 4800 SE 128mb Bios problems

I bought an MSI TI Geforce4 4800 SE 128mb about two months ago.
I upgraded the BIOS of a my card recently using the MSI Live Update software supplied on the CD that came with it.
The upgrade ran smoothly with no problems whatsoever, however when I try to play games now that use OpenGL or DirectX, there's glitches on the screen and the computer crashes with memory errors and sometimes even resets. It resets randomly at times aswell. Can anyone help me with this? I have tried the following:
1. Installing the latest MSI graphics drivers (used driver cleaner first)
2. Reflashing the BIOS
3. Clicking the 'detect hardware changes' button in the device manager.
4. Reinstalling the graphics card.
5. Contacting MSI technical support (three times).
None of these work and there's no TwinBIOS jumper on the card. The old BIOS is not available to download (if anyone has any ideas as to where I could get it, I'd appreciate it) It was working perfectly until I performed this BIOS upgrade using Live Update so I'm sure it's the BIOS that's at fault.
I'm using an MSI Neo2 865PE motherboard, my computer has 512 mb of RAM and a P4 2.53 ghz CPU. I'm running windows 2000.
The bios on the graphics card is version 4.28.20.23.00.

  • MSI Geforce 3 WDM and bios problem plz help!!!

    Hi
I have a MSI Geforce 3 Ti200 Pro-VT and when i install any detenator driver above 23.11 then the capture card wont work! The driver for the capture device says it wont start so i am stuck with 23.11. I have tries later WDM drivers and detenator drivers but they all give the same problem! I have also tried to flash the bios but live update 2 says Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function which it is supposed to have. When i go directly to the bios page and try to update it then the update fails. The flash program seems to think that i have a different card or something but my  system information says that i do. This it the information:
    VGA Card Manufacturer MSI
    VGA Card Model Name MS-8850
    VGA Card BIOS Vendor NVIDIA
    VGA Card BIOS Version 3.20.00.18.03
    VGA Card Driver Version 2311
Can someone please help me cause it would be nice to have the latest drivers working for the card.
    Thanks
    Nixus

I downloaded the bios files from http://tw.msi.com.tw/autobios/SVga/Bios/Ms8850/v111/ and then downloaded NVFLASH.EXE and booted in dos and flashed the card i had to force the flash though it had some conflict of data or something but i knew it was the right bios and i had made a backup of the current one plust the card has dual bios so i wasnt too worried and it all worked out fine.
Goodluck with gettin all your cards workin

  • Problem with MSI Nvidia GeForce 6800 LE (128MB) when playing 3D games

    Games problem
I have bought a new MSI Nvidia GeForce 6800 LE (128MB) a couple of months ago and have been have loads of trouble when playing games.
In windows, the graphics card works fine. The computer never crashes and everything is speedy. Movies on DVD, Xvid, Divx all play fine without problem, the most I get is the occasional freezing and then windows will be normal again.
The problem arises when I try to play a 3D game. When I load up the game it goes into the menu screens ok, the computer will load up the 3D engine and it will play for around a minute nice and crisp then the screen will go blank and computer will lock up. Then all the drives will go quiet and the computer will make 3 beeps with the PC speaker. Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL at this point does nothing, nor does the reset button. I have to turn the power on and off.
I really have no clue why this is happening, I have taken the covers off and kept it in a cool area, hoping that it was something to do with over heating, my computer is not overly cluttered and this has made no difference.
I have also unplugged the CDR, DVDR, USB ports, one Hard drive (storage) to see if it was something to do with the power no getting to the Videocard and then tried to play a game and the same problem arose.
I have two games that I have tried, Tiger woods 2005 and doom III, both of which crash in the same manner.
I have tried to be as detailed as I can with the descritopn of my computer below and the power details I'm not sure about so I posted a picture of the power unit to help.
Many thanks for your help in this matter, I'm desperately trying to get some worth out of this card and feel frustrated that its going bonkers only when trying to play games :/
Please tell me if you require further information about the system.

Firstly, thank you for all your prompt responses, I really appreciate it. From the sounds of it, the PSU is ****
    antec
From what I have read, the Antec PSUs have good reliability and ratings. I looked around and saw this one: Antec NEOPower 480W ATX PSU for around £65. I also went read that article posted by Dr Stu, which then stumbled on more articles about PSUs.
    I have a couple more questions….
The rating of my system (http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/Power_Supply_Calculator.php) with all the components running came out to be 422W.  So do you think that the Antec NEOPower 480W ATX PSU would be sufficient for the computer considering I might add more RAM in the future?
Or should I buy the 500W+ one then?
Does anyone know if the Antec PSUs are quiet? My current q-Tec one makes me feel I'm in an aeroplane.
    lucky I read the forum!
I was in Maplins (computer shop) at lunch and thought, that shiny 650W Q-Tec looks nice and there looks like loads of power, that much do the trick. i got to the counter and thought.....let me wait, till i get home from work and read some more on the forum about this PSU issue.
Thanks god I didn’t buy that S***. having read some of the reviews, i would have wasted loooots of money for nothing.

  • Geforce fx 5200 (128MB)is poor

    now i using asus v9520 magic/ tv output(128MB),i try 3dmark 2001se just get 4691 only,and 3dmark03 -910
    i using detonator 43.51 (WHQL) + via 4 in 1 4.46
    i find geforce fx 5200 (128MB)is poor,last time winfast a170 (geforce 4 mx420)can get 4134(3dmark 2001se),the geforce fx 5200= geforce 4 mx 440se
have yours got this problem , or may need wait Detonator fx come out
    thanks

This has nothing to do with anything from MSI LOL...
PS i have that Same Exact card and i get 4800 3dmarks in 3dmark 2001 SE. Since its a non ultra don't expect good performance. MX440 can beat it at some points. One reason is that the memory is only 64bit and has half the shaders and textures.

  • GeForce FX 5200 128MB Nightmate Freezes!

Thank God I found my way here. It seems like the only place where I can post my nightmare experience with the MSI GeForce FX 5200 128MB.
Basically, my system freezes all the time, randomly when I am browsing, doing nothing, and most of the time when I am trying to view pictures. It does not freeze while watching videos, it does not freeze while playing games either. Sometimes I also see the monitor singal disapear for a second, black screen, then it comes back in a second, especially when trying to view a picture. Sometimes it freezes when trying to save a picture too.
Only today, it did something even more odd.. I was trying to view a TIF image using the windows xp image normal viewer, which views jpgs and others pictures, and the same scenario happened, only this it happened continously. I mean by that the singal on the monitor kept coming and going many times, black screen then viewer generating picture (only generating - it was not displayed), then black screen, then trying to generate the picture, then blackscreen and so on. I had to click on the CLOSE (X) button on the picture generator window when the screen was not black, in order for it to stop losing the singal and coming back continously.
Please help me.. I think it is a fault with my video card. Do I need bios update for it? Do I need higher rate power supply? What exactly is wrong?!
    My System Specs:
    PIII 933MHz
    Acer motherboard (Intel Chispet 815)
    384 MB SDRAM
    30GB Hard Disc (Master Primary)
    1 CD-RW Drive (master Secondary)
    Power Supply 145W
    Sound Blaster Audigy

    Archahmudo,
I am not an expert on power supplies but I think 145 watt are too low. Geforce Fx only requires 75 watts.
We have similar systems. I have a peintium ||| 733Mhz with msi geforce fx 5200 128Mb. The difference is that I have two hard disks and two drives(Cd rwiter and DVD rom) which means that my computer will need more power than yours. My audio card is sound blaster live 4.1.
My power supply is 250 watts(although migth seems a little low) my computer works fine.
There is an articcle in these forums about power supplies that migth help you. Here is the link

    Hope this helps a little

  • MS-7235 Virtualization BIOS problem

I'm running Ubuntu Linux and am unable to run virtual XP because of a BIOS problem. Currently, I have the original BIOS which was Phoenix 1.1. Does anyone know if I update the BIOS if they resolved this issue?

    Thanks for the reply.
I think it is a BIOS problem because installing a virtual XP machine within Ubuntu results in an error stating that the BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant. I thought that since I have the original BIOS installed that updating it to the current one might resolve the error. This computer should support virtualization.
Also, it is a little tough to determine the exact BIOS to update with at MSI. A number of motherboards come up when I search for MS-725. None of them have Phoenix BIOS

  • Gf2MX400 bios problems

I was looking for the latest bios for my card from msi but I can't seem to find anything
Live Update only says "Your current version was updated and optimized"....
I can't find any link for video bioses on the MSI Global site....
The card's previous owner did some tweaking like writing "GeForce Ti4600..."
instead of GeForce 2 in the bios....
I've also been experiencing some crashes and texture problems
    The card is a MS-8852 (GeForce 2 MX400D-32, I think ), current bios version(if accurate) 3.11.01.48.48
    Thanks, Vincent

  • Need help, i'm suspecting its a BIOS problem

I dunno whether i should consider this a BIOS problem or something. But I hope someone could help me find the fault.
    Okay, here goes:
When i first turned on my computer, i had this strange BIOS error (I could not remember sorry), then my PC rebooted as usual, but after the Windows XP loading screen, a black screen and a cursor appears, and the PC hangs. I rebooted the PC and my monitor could not receive a signal from the CPU. I tried using my old analog display cable, but it did not work. I then tried plugging the monitor to my laptop. It worked. Then I tried replacing my Radeon 9600XT with my old Geforce 2 MX, but again, it did not work. I checked the inside of the PC and all of the fans (the mobo and the graphic card ) were working.(This was before i plugged in the Geforce2 MX card). I also tried resetting the bios, but it did not work.
    Here's my specs
    P4C 3.0GHZ
    MSI Neo2-S 865PE
    2x 256mb Kingston HyperX
    Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT
    120GB Maxtor SATA HDD
    30GB Maxtor IDE HDD
    Creative Audigy 2 ZS
    Iomega CD-R
    one DVD drive
    Eizo 15" LCD monitor
I'm totally clueless.. any help would be greatly appreciated

What s y a running? Anything like style xp?
I've had a prob with the thing after I installed it and combined it with
    TweakXP pro4 & SP2 .
I then owned a Fujitsu-Siemens TFT and when I switched it to auto mode,
it sometimes was fixed. Check if there is an auto-function on your CRT.
Problem is, according to me, something with the Kernel.
Should try booting it with the orginal boot.ini.
    But just to be sure:
Enter the bios, load optimized bios. Could check to be sure if the
aparture size of the AGP is set to the amount of mem available
on the GraphCard and check if the sequence AGP/PCI is there.
During boot, F7 see whats available for OS and take the orignal boot file.
Could try in the boot.ini to delete the /kernel at the end of the sentence.
Dunno if it's gonna help you but it helped me.

  • GTX 660M black screen with Nvidia driver, maybe a BIOS problem

    Hello Svet,
I need help with this please, if it is indeed a BIOS problem:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=254620.0
My laptop uses the Aptio Setup Utility Version 2.10.1208
    BIOS Version: E16F2IMT.300
    BIOS Build: 05/31/2011
    EC Version 16F2EG61 Ver4.22
    EC Build 04/21/2011
I found a new BIOS for it following the link from the Power Pro official site, but I have no idea if it would do the job.
    http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GT683.html#down-driver
    This is my laptop:
    PowerPro R 11:36-560

If you can help me, I will gladly donate.
    Thank you,

Ok, from you're answer I understand that  flashing the GPU with a compatible vBIOS is either not a solution for the problem,
yes don't think that can help for this case
and also will be high risky to brick your card
and even if its not bricked[survive flashing] don't think that can change anything
eventually you can try flashing your system notebook BIOS to the latest version for your notebook,
to check if that can helps by chance.
For it you have to ask your notebook vendor [power notebooks]
to provide you with the latest BIOS for your NB
rather than this don't think any modded stuffs can help with this.

  • GeForce 4 Titanium 128mb

    Hi everyone,
I have a GeForce 4 Titanium 128mb AGP and I want to install this card in my Mac Pro G5. I see that the slot of the original card (GeForce 5200 Fx 64mb AGP) is different.
The name of this slot is the same: AGP
I can install ma GeForce 4 Titanium?
    Thx for this info.

  • I bring my MBP  out of sleep I get:  X300 SE 128MB BIOS P/N 113-A33 406-100

My MBP had to be reset to come out of sleep mode, and when it did, there was the blue screen of death.
It was reset again and seemed to be working fine.
Then, when I brought the MBP while boot camp Vista out of sleep mode this afternoon, there was nothing on the screen but a string of characters (X300 SE 128MB BIOS P/N 113-A33 406-100).
I've tried to restart the machine several times and keep getting this same screen. Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

Boot from your DVD for Vista; do a Safe Boot; run sfc /scannow and force it to do a disk check for errors on next startup.

  • MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mb, TV IN Capture

I recently purchaced a MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mb (VTD) and im unable to get the tv in to work. Ive installed the nvidia capture drivers and connected the s-video lead from my VCR to my card. Is there a program i need to open or somthing in order to capture?

first. after instaling the wdm driver yous system sholud recognize 4 new devices...
the most important for you is the Nvidia WDM Video Capture (universal) couze it is the device that will by used to capture the video signal....
now you shoul use some program to view the video signal... any editing software should have some module to capture the video.. also if you have a bundled inter video software instal the winocoder as it is one of best (for me) viewers of the video in signal....
to capture the video you can use the inter video software (mpeg1 mpeg2) but try to use virtualdub's capture module as it alows to capture to any instaled codec ...and it is for free (http://www.sourceforge.net), you can also use windows media player if you dont have any other software

  • MSI Geforce FX 5900SP 128Mb or NOT?

Me and my friend just bought new MSI Geforce FX 5900SP 128Mb that came also with that VIVO cable and other accessories. I also looked on the sticker that was on the back side of the card and there it was writen that this card is 5900SP. All OK!
This card came in OEM version! Then I took a look around and I saw on the MSI internet site and elsewhere that 5900SP has also a heatsinks on the RAM. And my card does not have that heatsink on the ram that looks like a cooper half-circle around the GPU HSF.
My card looks same as MSI Geforce FX 5900XT which is not coz I have a VIVO function. Take a look for the MSI geforce FX 5900XT which does not have that heat sinks on the ram.
My ram is clocked as follows 2D: 300/700 and 3D: 400/700.
Anyone there with this version of FX 5900SP card - without the heatsinks on the RAM?
    Just curious what I have?!

Go to the link provided below and get the zipped excel spreadsheet that is provided by GlennVidia. It should answer your question I believe.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=12335&sid=
I have the 5900FXSP 256mb which comes with a twin flow cooling system. (2 fans, one on each side incl the copper heatsink) where yours I believe is the 128mb SP version that comes with a fansink cooling system as a standard. The spec sheet points out the differences between the products.
    Hope this helps

  • MSI GT70 (0NE-452) Refuses to Boot/random shut downs - BIOS problem?

    Hello,
I recently purchased a MSI GT70 0NE-452 laptop from Xotic PC. It came with Windows 8, but since Windows 8 broke most of Adobe Premiere, Vegas, and After Effects, I wiped the RAID0 SSDs and installed Windows 7. I've reinstalled all the drivers and have been comfortably setup for about a week or 2. Unfortunately now, the laptop has been behaving strangely.
    1) Random shutdowns, regardless of whether I'm connected to power or not. And I know it isn't because the battery died. (This might be fixed now since I downloaded another driver for the CPU Thermal  Control)
    2) Laptop won't turn on first-try. I press the power button and the power button flashes orange but nothing happens. It will only turn on once I've removed the battery and put it back in.
I have a feeling this could be a BIOS problem, and possibly attributable to the Windows 7 reformat, but I'm not sure. My BIOS is currently: American Megatrends Inc E1762MS.50U, 11/23/12.
The MSI website for my model has a Bios update:
    Release Date: 2012-12-14
Description: Fix HDMI/DP hot plug no function after S3 resume
    Non-Win8
    E1762IMS.30R
Can someone please advise? Should I try my hand at flashing the BIOS with this update and hope it solves the problem, or should I just call MSI and get it fixed by them?
Any help is much appreciated, thank you very much!

I'll take your advice but can you clarify a bit? Is it something beyond a BIOS repair?

  • Bios problem

bios problem on msi k8t neo via chipset..
my pc was perfectly working , but this morning after when i booted if findid i surprise..
my pc didn't started: "boot failure..."
from the bios is disappeard the first hd....
the bios recognize the slave hard drive and the one set on the 3° ide raid channel.
the firs hard disk and the two dvd device set into the second ide channel are not recognize and into the standard cmos features are set "not installed"
clear the bios wwith the jumper on the mainboard didn't solved the problem...
if you kou what is happend...
(i don't think that it's an hard disk problem...)

Disk was a Win2K NTFS Dynamic disk, so I extracted all the data onto the other disk in another computer, vaped the partition and turned it back to "Basic" style disk (I think this removes MS's extensions to the partition table) before unplugging.  Then put it in the AMD64 box, created partition & formatted to Ext3 with Linux tools, so I think there's nothing wrong there.
The jumpers & cable are as you recommend - originally the master was in the middle of the cable, but I'd already swapped it last night in an effort to see if the cable connector was at fault.  It's just the intermittant failure (about every other cold boot or so) which pisses me off (reminds me of all those random memory failures, before I limited to DDR333).  As I said above, I'll replace the cable when I turn off tonight & see what that does.
