TI Laser Printer Driver

I have a Texas Instrument microLaser Plus printer that used to work with an 8600 Mac.
Can it work with my Desktop or Powerbook G4 using OS X.
The printer has three ports:
Mini Din-8
25 pin connector
36 pin connector

Mini Din-8 is either old PC Serial, or AppleTalk.
If it worked with your old Mac, can we assume that it used this port, from the Mac, and so that it is Appletalk, or Ethertalk as some called it.
Only question now is, does OSX 10.4 still support AppleTalk ?
Otherwise you need some sort of Ethernet to AppleTalk converter. Farallon used to make these. I still have mine. They were enormous sellers at the time of the first iMac in 1998, when it arrived with no AppleTalk port, and people still wanted to print on their old StyleWriters (like me). USB printers hadn't been invented then. This sounds exactly like what you trying to achieve.
Google and eBay are your friends, but I'm still concerned about OSX 10.4's support for AppleTalk.
I still use mine to establish a network with my SE.

Contact Canon, each printer manufacturer makes their own drive. Also try using Apple's instructions to see if one is already available, look in Mac Basics: Printing in OS X Mavericks

  • HT1338 Hi I have a dell colour laser printer ref 3115 cn. I have tried to load driver etc so I can use it with my new Macbook Pro. Its won't let me do it. How do I do it?

Hi I have a Dell colour laser printer ref 3115 cn. I have tried laoding the driver buy my MacBook Pro wont allow it?
    Any idea's?

The Dell specifications indicate that this is a multifunction device.  The printing portion is supposed to be able to use either PostScript or PCL 6.  You should be able to use a generic color PostScript PPD or use the generic pxlcolor driver from OpenPrinting.org.  There is not much chance of getting scanning to work with OS X.
The Gutenprint drivers will not provide what you need.  They only support balck and white printing for laser printers.

  • Where can I get an HP Laser Jet 5 Basic Printer driver

Where can I get an HP Laser Jet 5 Basic Printer driver, besides using the windows Update button.

Here is the product page for the Laserjet 5p/mp page. This will be the best place to find what you need. If it is not listed here, then the only other place to get the driver is through windows update.

  • How do I find a driver for a Dell 1320c Colour Laser Printer for a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.2

How do I find a printer driver for a Dell 1320c Color Laser Printer for use on a MacBook Pro running Mavericks OSX 10.9.2?

Ask Dell who made the printer and what model is it. Then you can see if there is a matching driver provided with OS X or that can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

  • Mac Lion OS print driver for hp color laser jet 1600 & business inkjet 2200

I just brought a Macbook Air (13in) with the new OS Lion.  I however have a HP Color Laserjet 1600 and Business Inkjet 2200 that I love, but can't find a printer driver for either.  So, my questions are, does anyone know if:
    1)  there is going to be a mac lion os print driver for hp color laser jet 1600 & Business Inkjet 2200; or
    2)  is there another way to print to them (i.e., the 2200 uses HPA instead of PS and the 1600 uses PCL)?

Any suggestions re correct driver for windows 7 and HP 4600dn?

  • Hard drive corruption caused by UPS/Laser printer failure?

I have corrupted two drives in the last two months. The first drive is the 320G version that came with the computer about 3 years ago. My computer in powered through the UPS, and I have hooked up the laser printer to the same UPS. The laser printer is smelling like burnt plastic the last few times I powered it up, and it caused clicking noised from the UPS. I am assuming that is tripping some protection circuit in the UPS.
So my question is this: can the laser printer cause a failure in the UPS that causes a failure in the iMac power supply which corrupted the hard drive?
I don't mind replacing the hard drive again, but I don't want this to become a regular thing...
Also, the house I am in has occassional power interruptions and power glitches. But the power have not been completely off in a while.
    Thanks in advance

No, it's UPS; the backup battery power supply that protects the computer in case of power interruptions.

  • Print driver for hp laser 4650

I need the print driver for the hp laserjet 4650. The hp website displays on the universal print driver. Thanks

It seems that it is policy for HP (and other printer vendors) to only supply product-specific printer drivers for new models when those new models are introduced.
Thereafter (and especially when new operating system versions are subsequently introduced), the only HP drivers supplied for older printer models are the Universal Printer Drivers (UPDs), one each for the Page Description Languages (PDLs) PCL5, PCL6 and PostScript).
One or more relevant basic drivers may also be available as drivers built-in to the Operating System version you are using, as mentioned in this document:

  • Unable to locate a printer driver for a Samsung ML-2165 mono laser on OSX5.8 despite installing software successfully. Any ideas?

I've installed successfully from disc (and removed it manually and reinstalled and restarted and unplugged etc). The iBook G4 sees the printer but the dialogue tells me there is no appropriate printer driver and to select one.  The only Samsung ones that appear are Guttenberg ones for different models. The Samsung folder appears in the Library/Printers folder. I have also downloaded Mac drivers from Samsung's website they unzip to folders 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6. The 10.5 one includes
    file://localhost/10.5/autosetupinfo.plist
    file://localhost/10.5/Command%20File%20Filter/
    file://localhost/10.5/Filter-%20SPL/
    file://localhost/10.5/ML-2160.icns
    file://localhost/10.5/PDE/
    file://localhost/10.5/PPD/
    file://localhost/10.5/SCMS/
    file://localhost/10.5/statusDesc.plist
    file://localhost/10.5/Utilities/
I've put the folders in the printers folder - no change, I don't think anything has installed itself. There is certainly no installer automatically opening. What to do next?
Samsung have sent me a standard Microsoft reply..... Hope someone can advise.

Thank you very much for your clear advice which ought to work.
Unfortunately none of this seems to work and is what I have already tried. This is a new printer - I have installed the software from the CD to no avail - I can select the printer but am told I have to download software..
I have manually deleted software.  Then, I have downloaded the Mac software from the UK and the italian websites. The printer is found in the menu but again it says there is no suitable software. When browing under the 'other' heading the contents of the downloaded folder are greyed out and can't be installed. It appears the Samsung printer driver is not making itself available to the Print and Fax selector.
It does make me wonder whether I have accidentally removed a vital piece of software - having removed most of the printer drivers a while ago to save disc space.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I cannot print to my Samsung laser printer ML 2525w?  How can I get this set up to print?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on my iMac, I cannot print to my Samsung B&W Laser printer ML 2525W either by USB or wireless.    Any help on how to setup or reconfigure would be apprecaited.
I either print blank pages or prints one time then goes off line, or spits out a bunch of blank paper, etc.  Have gone through all the standard fixes, reboot, reset , reload driver, etc.

From the link to the Thread you provided, I worked through the one message procedures that were listed.
For ease of reference, I have copied them and printed them below.  This was an old thread but the guidance still works with no firmware upgrade required.
I would stress that you MUST delete any and all files relating to USB connection of the printer to the MAC, including all print drivers (from both Apple and Samsung either from CD or web downloads) and all print queues, etc.  I was only able to get the printer to properly hand shake with my Mac by setting it up wirelessly after all old files were deleted with hard power off reboots on both the Mac and Printer.
I hope that someone from Apple will pass this note along to their programing department because there is some type of incompatibility in the new ML OS and the Samsung ML2525w print dirvers used for a cable (USB) type connection.  Apple needs to be talking to Samsung to get the USB issue resolved.  I am going to post this same message on the Samsung site to see if someone from there will contact Apple to work together on a final solution for USB connectivity.
Here is the steps I followed to get my ML2525w to work in the wireless mode.  Again, I cannot stress the need to clean out all the old files (drivers, print queues, etc. - everything) before setting up wirelessly.
As a note, I ran this printer with Lion for almost 2 years and it always worked fine (both wireless and USB).  From other comments on the thread, users were good with this printer using Lep. and Snow Lep also. - - no issues from either a USB connection or wireless until Mountain Lion.
Before the fix, I was experiencing many of the same issues as described on user chat threads, printer going offline after a print job.  1st page sometimes printing but all the rest of the pages were garbage.  No printing at all. Printer just running a bunch of blank pages out. etc.
I run an iMAC 27" desktop with the ML OS upgrade just installed from Lion.
"I've just installed one of these printers for my parents.
First of all, don't waste your time connecting the ML-2525W as a USB printer. The printer will go offline after each print job. It's hopeless, at least (I assume) until Samsung gets around to publicly releasing a firmware update.
Instead, you have to use the ML-2525W as a wireless printer. In that mode, it works fine.
    This is what I did:
    (1) First, if you have already attempted to install the Samsung driver software from the included CD-ROM, uninstall it. Get the uninstaller from the Samsung support site:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/ML-2525W
Download the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" ZIP file. It unzips to a folder that contains the uninstaller. Likewise, download the "Smart Panel Driver" ZIP file and uninstall the Smart Panel software.
    (2) Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if it is connected. Pull the power plug on the printer and power cycle it.
    (3) Restart your Mac.
    (4) Go to the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" folder that you previously unzipped. Inside it is a folder named "WirelessSetting". Open the folder and run the "Wireless Setting.app".
    (5) The application will ask you to connect the USB cable to the printer. Do so, and the Mac should be able to communicate with the printer to perform the wireless setup.
    (6) The application will show you a list of wireless networks. One of them is the wireless interface in the printer (ad-hoc). You can ignore that unless you intend to use the printer without connecting to another wireless network. In my case, I selected the wireless network in my parents' home (infrastructure) and entered the security passphrase. The application then configured the wireless interface in the ML-2525W to connect to the home network.
    (7) The Wireless Setting application will then tell you to disconnect the USB cable.
    (8) After finishing the Wireless Setting application, go to Word, Textedit, Pages, or Safari, and select a file or page to print. In the print dialog window, you should see the ML-2525W as a "Nearby Printer" (i.e. via Bonjour). Select the ML-2525W, and your Mac will automatically connect to Apple's Software Update and download the latest Samsung driver. If for any reason the Software Update download does not succeed, you can manually download and install the Apple driver using the previously published link in this discussion.
    (9) After that, you should be able to print to the ML-2525W whenever you want, without the printer going offline.
    (10) If you have a USB printer queue still in your Print & Fax Preferences (from your previous unsuccessful attempt to connect via USB), you can delete it. You only need to keep the Bonjour queue.
Obviously YMMV, but in my case this procedure got the printer working reliably without the need for a firmware update."

  • Looking for a good laser printer for OSX 10.6.8

I need a decent laser printer.  Using Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.8.  I've given up trying to get the drivers to work on our office Xerox Workcentre 7328.  I keep getting the "OTC at end of life" error and I'm sick of trying to download drivers and try this and that.  All I need is to print text.  I will buy a separate scanner for scanning pictures (any recommendations on that as well?).  I have been seeing issues with Lion and with our Xerox troubles, I'm a little gun shy now.  I was considering the Brother Printer HL2230 I saw on Amazon.
Does anyone have other recommendations or experiences to share?  As far as the scanner goes, I'm looking for something for less than $100 if possible.  This would be mostly for scanning pictures to put into slide shows.  I found this one, also on Amazon:  Epson Perfection V300 Photo Scanner (B11B193081)
    Opinions?
    Jason

If you want to avoid any trouble in the future with new versions of OS X then as Bob has suggested the best action is to get a laser printer that supports Postscript. Looking at the specs for that Brother, it is a GDI device, meaning that may have rely on Brother producing an updated driver if the current driver does not work on the new OS. Now if you are not likely to update when the new cat is released then you should be fine. And there is also a chance that the current drivers will work. But Postscript support does future proof your printer, although it will cost more than $80 which is very cheap. If you do get that Brother make sure you also get the high yield toner cartridge which is a separate purchase. The starter cartridges included with the printers generally have a quarter of the toner that a full cartridge has.
As for the scanner, I've read good reviews about that Epson so it looks like a winner.

  • Can no longer properly print to colour laser printer after latest update

    Hi,
I've just updated my iLife '08/Leopard software using software update. It would appear that I can no longer print greeting cards etc. from iPhoto to my colour laser printer since this update. All photos are printed in a very pale yellow colour that is hardly visible.
I've tried a couple of things to diagnose the problem:
    1. Saved the file as a PS and printed it from a different machine running Tiger. Same result as before: Pale yellow.
    2. Viewed the PS file using Preview on the Tiger and Leopard machines. The colours were normal.
    3. Saved just the image (i.e., no greeting card pattern) to desktop and printed it from my Leopard machine. The picture printed out perfectly on the colour laser printer.
    4. Printed the greeting card to an inkjet. That seems to work, too.
    5. Just in case there was a problem with the new greeting card, I tried to print an old card that perfectly printed before. It, too, came out in a pale yellow.
So there appears to be some problem printing from the latest version of iPhoto to my colour laser printer. I did update the printer driver, just in case, but still have the same problem. Any ideas what else I could try?
The printer is an HP Color Laserjet 2550L

I have just discovered that I can properly print pictures from iPhoto to the colour laser, as long as I don't put them in a greeting card. So that seems to be the trigger.
