TI4200 TD8x freeze when booting

I have almost tried everything. Installed os 6 times and at last upgrade to ME, but still i got stop when i booting the system, this happen after i have installed the ndivas driver for the viedo Card. It seems that windows dosn't like the agp driver. When i have å clean installation the system are booting. The display are then in standard resolution. Cant change that. Then i intal the drivers for the card and after rebooting it go in hang.
I have:
Abit kd7-G motherboard socket A
Via chipset VIAKT400
AMD athlon XP 2400 2,0 GHz
DDR dim 512
Vidocard
MSI TI4200 TD8X
ndiva geforce4

IRQ wtch i can see when booting is
Network ctrl   11
Usb 1.0/11 Uhci 10
Usb 1.0/1.1 Uhci 11
Usb 1,0 Uhci     5
USB 2.0          11
IDE cntrl        14
Display Cntrl    10
Acpi cntrl.      9
Powersuply are marked with 230W with total output 120W
I did think about the power so i took out a power from a another pC with a 300W , still the same problem, so i swithed it back to the orginal power. What should the outputpower bee??? I cant find anything about that.
The pc is know running in standard mode with the agp card. At one i go in setting for the card and change the resolution and reboot it teels me that i have some mitc match vid the driver and the vieocard. Then i have to push OK button and the pc stop working. Then i go in to safemodus and sett it back to standar and reboot the system and it work. It little strange because some times when i tried to change the resolution it start windows again and then it work ok until i turn pc of and on again i then have the same problem.

  • Zen Micro freezes when boot or in recovery m

In brief, my Zen Micro freezes at booting up or in recovery mode.
It stops at the "Creative" logo. I've tried to do everything in the "Recovery Mode" but none ofthem seems to run. Tried "Disk Cleanup" but it stucks at "Scanning Disk..." and stays on and does nothing. I know it is supposed to show you the status in percentage, but it doesn't get to that point. Tried "Formatting" but it displays "Formatting..." and stucks and does nothing. It is able to"Reboot" but upon rebooting, it freezes at the "Creative" logo screen again.
During the time it's turned on, the computer would not recognize the player as "connected", I couldn't do firmware flash/upgrade. The computer also won't recognize as a removable storage. The Zen Microis in perfect condition, I haven't dropped it once, bought it for less than 2 weeks. Current version of firmware is .0.03 (as i recall). model # DAP-MD0004
Any comment is greatly appreciated!! Thanks =)
    ps.
and yes, my battery drains when the player is off (and not in standby mode), with or without headphone plugged in.

    <SPAN>Hi kaic,
<SPAN><SPAN>My Zen Microphoto has exactly the same problem you described. What I like to know is if you got it replaced or if somehow you could fix it yourself. And if Creative replaced it, which they said the problem was?

  • Computer Freezes When Booting From Firewire HDD

I was trying to boot from my firewire drive, so that I could use CCC and restore the internal drive. After using CCC to back up the internal drive, and then getting the computer to boot from the firewire drive, boot-up froze when it got to the blue screen (after the Apple logo). The mouse was functioning, but that was it. Can anyone suggest anything?
The Firewire drive is a WD MyBook Home Edition. I've JUST updated the firmware, but I haven't tried again yet. I've also heard about the GUID option, but I can't remember if I turned that on or not. Also: The disk contains data which can't be moved or deleted, so re-partitioning the drive is out.
If booting doesn't work, can I use CCC to clone a disk image, boot from the Leopard DVD, and restore the internal drive using the cloned image with Disk Utility?

You can't change the partition scheme to GUID without erasing, but [this article|http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20071129085410333] in MacFixit contains the following:
"although a PowerPC Mac will not boot from a GUID-partitioned disk (the "native" partitioning for an Intel Mac boot disk), an Intel Mac will boot from an APM-partitioned disk (the "native" partitioning for a PPC boot disk)"
I've seen similar discussions elsewhere as well. My retail Leopard install DVD, bootable on both PPC and Intel Macs, has an APM partition scheme. An Intel Mac will not INSTALL OS X onto an APM-partioned disk, but that is not the same thing. I think that a CCC clone of an Intel-bootable volume onto a disk with an APM partition scheme should still be bootable. I would check further at the [CCC forum|http://forums.bombich.com/viewforum.php?f=12] for confirmation; if so, your problem is elsewhere.
You said the disk contains data which can't be moved - did you create the clone on the same volume that contained this data or did you have a different partition on the drive that you could erase first? If the "data that can't be moved or deleted" on the external drive is not itself backed up somewhere else, it should be.
Would backing up to an disk image, and restoring using the Leopard Install DVD work? This is primarily to defragment my disk, as Boot Camp won't run without contiguous disk space.
I think this should work but is risky because you can't boot the disk-image to test it beforehand to be sure it is OK. And if it is not OK, you won't find out until after the restore has failed on your now-erased internal HD.

  • Blue Screen Freeze When Booting

I posted this problem in the 10.5 area and haven't had many bites. Thought I'd put it here too and see if some iBook owners might have dealt with this. I hope so anyway.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1996120
I have been working this problem over the weekend and still have no resolution. Another board member was assisting me in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1927017
My G4 iBook froze up the other night while using Safari. I could not force quit or get any response from the keyboard. I shutdown holding the power button until the compter shut off. When I restarted things seemed to be going fine, I got the grey screen with the Apple logo and the turning gear. After a minute or two it goes to the blue screen and stays there. The HD stops spinning and it will go no further.
I tied to boot from the install disc, doesn't work. I tried to boot in safe mode, doesn't work. I tried to boot in target firewire, doesn't work. I can boot into single user mode. The other user gave me a bunch of things to try in single user mode, and it appears all things are good. Permissions are good.
I don't have any really valuable information on the laptop, I'm fine with reformatting the HD and starting over. I just can't get it to boot up for me to do that. Does anyone know if it is possible to do this from the terminal in single user mode? Anybody have some brilliant idea for me?
Thanks for anything you have to offer.

    Dread Pirate Roberts:
The fact that you can boot into Single User Mode is a bit curious, but it indicates that the computer is functional. Why it won't boot from the optical drive, or in Safe Mode or normally is mysterious. I suggest that you make an appointment online at your local Genius Bar and have them take a look at it. There is no charge for the service. They will tell you what they think is wrong and what it would cost to fix it.

  • Boot process freezes when booting from UEFI

Subject says it all.  I followed the grub2/uefi wiki to configure Arch to work with my new motherboard's EFI.  I can boot into grub okay and I can select the entry that boots Arch, but the boot hangs indefinably at the 'loading udev uevents [BUSY]' prompt.  By contrast, if I boot using a 2nd HDD which has grub-bios on it, Arch comes up without a hitch.  I must conclude that booting from UEFI is the problem and would like to fix it.
I moved all logs from /var/log so that the dir is empty hoping to catch something that would give a clue but after a failed boot attempt, mounting the root partition and inspecting /var/log gave no files.

Please check this Install Ubuntu without a CD using UNetbootin.
Also I think this thread is better safed in Linux section of this forum.
    Try a look there, also.

  • Desktop freezes when booting normal

    Hi
i did a diagnosis after the machine gave me blue screen.
Now whenever i boot normal Win 7, it gave me blue screen .  So I capture the dump and uploaded to here:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?itr9cj4m81jlmc2
The message on the screen was something like  tcpip.sys.
Please help resolve this issue.  I have 10 days to return it.  if this problem persists, i won;t keep it.
    Thx

    Hi,
Try booting into safe mode by pressing F8 during startup to see if the issue your are having occurs there.  If not, then it may be some software in the system that is causing the blue screen or corrupt system files.
You can perform a system restore in safe mode as well.  If the restore doesn't not work, then perform a recovery using F11 during startup.

  • Gf4 Ti4200-TD8X (MS-8894) Boot Problem

;(  This is my 4th or 5th pc I have built and when I installed this VGA board on my SY-KT400 Dragon Ultra (Black Edition), the pc will bootup and beep once, and continue onto reading the O/S but the problem is that not once did the video appear on screen. It just displays no signal. I've cleared the cmos many times, and the video card seems to be running fine, its just I get no video period. If you could help I would really appreciate it.  )

    EagerDeadlock,
What are the specs on your power supply? You might not have enough juice to run a GeForce4 Ti Card.

Before is ok, can't remember when this problem show up.
Don't know where to go, please give me a hint.
You have to give us a hint.
    What is your processor?
    How much RAM have you?
What is your video card/ship set?
    What kernel are you running?
I spotted this in your dump:
[drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector DP-2: switching from hotplug detection to polling
In this case, drm means Direct Rendering Management and has to do with your Video subsystem.  An interrupt is where the hardware sends a signal to the processor that something has happened that requires the urgent attention of the processor.  The kernel is protesting that the hardware is barraging it with interrupt requests.

  • Mouse freeze after boot

I have two separate partitions on two separate drives which have MacOS 9.2 installed. They are both behaving in the same same. After booting up, I can usually move an icon around on the desktop for a while. Sometimes I can even move it to the trash, but not very often. After a few seconds the computer freezes and I cannot move the mouse.
I have tried rebooting into OS 9 for each of these partitions with extensions off with the same result. I can boot from the install CD and do NOT experience this problem.
I have removed all USB and firewire peripherals and still experience the problem. I still have DSL connected through Ethernet.
I had previousy removed preferences associated with disk burning (USB Authoring, fire wire authoring and SDAP authoring) as suggested by other posts, along with ASLM, Finder and MacOS and System prefs.
I have also rebuilt the desktop DB.
I have not yet zapped PRAM. Should that be the next step? Any other suggestions?
Classic works when run from OS 10.4. I am running on a G4 AGP Mac.
If I reinstall 9.2, I believe that I have to wipe the disk clean, install 9.2, then reinstall 10.4, is that correct?

I tried USB Overdrive (on both partitions) with the same result.
I tried to do a clean install of OS 9.2.1 by booting from the CD ("C" at startup) and I had the same result - mouse would freeze right after clicking on the Install icon.
I was able to do a clean install by clicking on the Install icon from the CD while it was on the OS X desktop (it launched Classic and then completed the install). I did this after manually trashing the old OS 9. Unfortunately, I still have mouse freezes when booting from that install also. This was with only the default Apple extensions/control panels installed.
One other interesting note - when rebooting into one of the troublesome partitions, OS 9 always says that memory was corrupt and goes through a repair using First Aid. When rebooting through the other OS 9 partiition, it does not do this. Also after going through this latest series of reboots, either First Aid or the reboot process somehow corrupted the Startup preference. The computer would normally default to boot into OS X. Instead it wanted to boot into the OS 9 which always had the repair memory condition. Even booting by holding down the Option key, it did not give me the option to boot into my normal OS X partition. I had to boot into a backup OS X partition and run Disk Utilities. (Startup preference panel did not contain my default boot drive and none of the folders from that drive showed up in the Finder sidebar). It took a very long time to mount any disks in Disk Utilities sidebar, but eventually it mounted my preferred startup disk, and only then was I able to change the Startup preference panel and boot normally.

  • DMA2100 & DMA220 Freeze when network cord (CAT5) plugged in and won't work at all

I happened to go into the firmware update on both of my extenders yesterday and downloaded the latest for both the DMA2100 & DMA2200.  Now today they are both freezing when booting/starting up.  I figured out that its the network connection - as soon as it tries to establish a network connection it freezes each unit.  On the TV is says "connecting to network" and then the entire unit is frozen up.
Both are hard-wired.  If I take the LAN cable out the units will boot fine and I can go thru the menu's.  As soon as I plug the CAT5 back in they both freeze up.  I verified it also freezes on wireless - tried this on the 2200 and as soon I it tried to connect to my wireless network it also froze up.
What did Linksys do to my units with this firmware upgrade?????????  HELP!!
    Solved!

jvigilia, given that, can you try restoring your machine before the MS update and check if your device still encounters the same issue?
This will greatly help isolate the problem.

  • MacBook Air Freezes at 50% when booting

    Hi,
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot. I'm new to the Apple Support forums (well, new to online forums in general). I have a newer MacBook Air that has very recently started to freeze periodically (spinning wheel), and now freezes while booting around the 50% mark. The only way I can get it to boot is to reset the SMC and the NVRAM using the keyboard commands when powering up. Even when it does boot, the Finder and dock are non-responsive most of the time and I have to shut-it down again by holding the power button. I have been to a licensed Apple service centre in my community, and they did all of the hardware tests, which it passed. I have run the disk utility from the recovery screen and there were no errors reported. I've also re-installed the OS from that same screen, but it still would not boot after finishing the download. I've searched many of the support communities and found out about EtreCheck. I have managed to get my MacBook to boot and ran the software. Below is the report that was generated. I'm hopping that I am missing something here and someone can point me in the right direction to get this fixed. It's been two weeks since the problems started and I travel for work. I'm sure others can appreciate how hard it is to work on the road without reliable access to my Mac. Thank-you in advance for any advice you can provide.

  • BLACK SCREEN startup with 3 beeps, FREEZES when unplugged, Splash screen freeze, HEAT-UP TO BOOT

BLACK SCREEN startup with 3 beeps, FREEZES when power unplugged, IF IT BOOTS splash screen freezes, OVERHEATING REQUIRED TO BOOT - 0x7B, Event 41 kernel-powe
Issue: One day I unplug the power, the screen freezes and I get frozen music sound. I shut down, start up, I get 3 beeps (1 short 2 long), which indicates a Video failure according to the Thinkpad Laptop beep code list.
How I solve the issue day-to-day: I turn the heat up - I disconnect the battery and hard drive and plug in the power then turn it on. I will wait until the underneath is searing hot with a blanket blocking the fan's flow of air, I mean way hot because any cooler and it won't start. Plug stuff back in, Hard drive first, Battery second, turn off with power button hold, unplug power, replug power.
I turn it on, no beeps, it goes past the first Lenovo screen, then gives me a prompt because it "didn't shut down properly" and continue regular startup. What happens next is the Windows logo appears, and just as the animated windows logo starts to move (you see 2 small colored dots on the screen), it freezes. I see this every time, I know naturally that it means that the laptop is still too hot to go past that point, so I shut it down and try again. After about 5 - 10 tries it will go past the splash screen and into the login area, then it's all fine.
Sometimes when I unplug the power from the back by accident it will freeze. By accident I mean that the connector wiggles it's self out easily. This unplug freezing thing started happening about 1 week before the 3 beep black screen problem started rolling, so I'm putting 2 together.
    Errors:
I got a Blue Screen of Death the first time I started it up with the overheating ritual, but I never got it since. It was 0X7B. I ended up changing a setting in BIOS from AHCI to Compatibility Mode, and I passed everything without the BSOD again. I have always had it on AHCI.
I got another Blue Screen of Death about a week ago, but came as it was on already and I had been using it, and said something about disabling Cache or Shadowing in BIOS. I never got it since.
    BIOS:
Also, the time was set to 1988 or something in the BIOS.
    Event Viewer events found:
    1. Kernel-Power, Summary page.
There are critical events for a few things like Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task Category (63). There are 19 of them, each day 1 or 2 of them but mostly 1, so this maybe corresponds to my daily ritual.
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
    2. Kernel-Processor-Power - Event ID 37, task category (7)
"The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report."
    3. LMS - HCMI - Event ID 2, Task Category: none
"LMS Service cannot connect to HECI driver".
I came across a very sluggish performing control panel for Nvidia before and after this problem, and I tried installing a newer version, which I had to jump through a few hoops to do, like uninstalling first, not just updating. At first it said that the driver wasnt made for the system, or that it wasnt compatible or something, which was wrong. I made it work somehow, but it was still sluggish after install. I rolled it back to an earlier driver, and now it works fine oddly. No sluggish performance / slight freeze window thing going on. No problem at all.
MSCONFIG.exe, Boot Advanced Options: I have tried twice to change this 1 setting, check box "Number of processors" and change to 2 processors, because I do have 2 processors. I have been able to change this in the past, but it does not save the setting now, and I believe this option was selected before I started having problems, and settings did not disappear then.
What could this be. The small round BIOS battery? The video card like everyone presumes? (I.E. the entire motherboard replacement), Software? The wiggly power input area? (Not enough power getting in?), Firmware of some sort? The BIOS software being wrong?

You wont get good Nvidia ones on Ebay/forumes anywhere.
I'd beg to differ on both accounts.
*61 series nVidia-based ThinkPads from late January through July of 2008 are a 50/50 shot, since the old chips were mixed with the new ones. Any machine built in August and later can be deemed "safe".
As for the forums (I don't do feebay) there are people who sell genuine, properly-tested planars. However, these do not come at bargain basement prices, and with a good reason if I may add.
    Good luck.

  • Boot Freeze When overclocked w/ SATA drive

I just installed xp pro on 36 gig Raptor on sata 1  when i o/c i get a freeze at boot screen or dmi update sucess or it says ctrl alt del to restart read disc error.  I can run a stable overclock when it was just my ata drive @ 2.59 mhz on air cooling,  boot up just fine, but when i boot from an o/c with the sata drive connected i get the errors or freezes,  i can boot a default setting and have core center overclock to 2.39 mhz but that is it.  I am discouraged.  Can anyone help?

Thanks guys that worked!  Now i have to get my bench marks back up there with the overclocking, although i could overclock higher on the ide vs sata but 100 mhz does bother me, its stable at 2.48 ghz, so i am happy bench marking better than fx-53 and 3800 in cpu scores, i got a 10000 in sisandra so i am happy.
